The Kelly Alexander Show is thrilled to welcome pop & dance music legends Niki Haris, Donna De Lory and DJ Tracy Young to the show! These three artists came to fame as part of Madonna's elite entourage of talent with Niki & Donna singing and dancing alongside Madonna from the 80's into the 2000's and Tracy spinning tunes for Madonna at parties and events including Madonna's own wedding to Guy Richie. Tracy even won a Grammy Award for her remix of Madonna's "I Rise." Niki, Donna and Tracy have decided to bring their collective talents together and have released a new song called "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" and will be releasing more songs and hopefully even an album! The women share their stories of what it was like working & touring with Madonna, why they decided to team up and release new music, the importance of their LGBTQIA+ fans, what it was like performing at award shows like the Grammys and they even share very personal thoughts about the passing of Madonna's beloved brother Christopher Ciccone. This is the first time these three artists have been interviewed together and we are ecstatic to have them as our guests on The Kelly Alexander Show. Enjoy the conversation and thank you for listening.

Today, I'm super excited to share a big talk from my 2023 Speaker Salon Showcase. This talk was given by the amazing Dr. Kristen Szabla, Ph.D. Kristen has over a decade of experience as a neuroscientist specializing in the neural circuitry mediating fear and depression. As a survivor of incest and commercial sexual exploitation at an early age, Kristen is unable to remember a time in her young life when fear and suicidal ideation were not continuously present. However, she found the courage to face her painful past and is thriving. Kristen is an empathic and passionate leader who is driven to fulfill her mission of transforming pain into power by providing data-driven and evidence-based content that redefines and amplifies the conversation surrounding the horror of sexual trauma and its destructive effects on mental health. I'm so honored to feature her deeply powerful and personal talk, “Still, I Rise.” In this talk, she explores: The deep impact of shame and why it hijacks our brains The reason trauma can create shame and cycles of depression Her personal experience with trauma and human trafficking and its aftermath The transformative power of self-compassion More from Kristen Szabla, PhD Website: https://transformingpainintopower.info/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristen-l-szabla-phd-1867b5210/ More from Tricia Join my Free Transformational Masterclass for Speakers Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

The February 2024 edition of UP! is pure pop heaven. I say this because the set is populated with tracks from Dannii Minogue, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Sia & Kylie Minogue. A veritable divadom of pop diva's. Kicking off the set is the Matt Pop mix of Taylor Swift's beautiful "The Archer". Tay Tay just hit Australia this weekend kicking off the Australian leg of her Eras Tour with sold out concerts of 90,000 fans in Melbourne before heading to Sydney, so I wanted to include this mix to acknowledge the enormous cultural impact her world tour has had. Until Dawn remix two tracks for Sarah Christine and Deniece Pearson respectively. Division 4 delivers a crunchy, funky remix of "Looking For A New Love" which is my favourite cover in recent years. Dannii Minogue is back with a new track "Thinking 'Bout You" and it is nice to hear another Soul Seekerz remix. The always on point Dirty Disco features three remixes here for JLo, Ariana and Sia & Kylie. I included the awesome Tommer Mizrahi remix of Madonna's "I Rise" which I forgot I had. The set closes out with the thumping HenriqMoraes remix of Kygo & Ava Max's hit "Whatever". This month's edition of UP! is short, sharp and punchy clearing a path for the annual Mardi Gras Anthems coming in March. On this episode of the R.A.G.E. Podcast, Host Micaela Parker takes listeners back in time to revisit past seasons' themes, past hosts, and highlight connections. Race scholars have been doing important and insightful scholarship, research, and creative work for decades, the work has rarely led to any revolutionary change on our campuses or the communities that we serve. Instead, the work of race scholars has often been marginalized and silenced while policies, practices, and discourses of “color-blindness” and “post-racialism” have reigned supreme on our campuses and in our local politics. The result has often left race scholars silently raging at the intractability and inability of higher education to take racial privilege and anti-racist discourse seriously. On The R.A.G.E. Podcast, we interview race scholars around the country about the personal and professional challenges of academics committed to critical race methodologies in one's scholarship, teaching, and community engagement. Innovative technologies have opened up a new era of connection, allowing us to build more relationships in new, meaningful ways. The opportunities today are nearly endless, as we can now keep in touch with loved ones abroad and make honest, heartfelt relationships with people that we have never met in person (and perhaps, never will). Emmet B. Keeffe III has been at the front line of this evolution since the 1990's. He has a long prolific career in the digital space, and has made his mark accelerating technology transformation in the workplace. Through his work with Insight Partners and iRise, Emmet has noticed how technology has fueled the startup industry in recent years, particularly with the acceleration Covid brought about. Jim and Emmet sit down to discuss mindset, the evolving technology landscape, and the importance of personal connection in our ever-changing world. Emmet also shares how talking about his goals with others led to him fulfilling his passion and owning his own auto racing team, The Campos Racing Team. About Aashi Arora: She is the principal executive coach at iRISE, has had over 20 years of executive and administrator level experience in operations, healthcare professional mentoring, and coaching. iRISE Executive Coaching provides services to individuals and groups who are seeking enhanced performance and productivity. Aashi provides strengths-based executive coaching through an individualized program that is designed to enhance management acumen, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. In this episode, Carl White and Aashi Arora discuss:How a private practice benefits from high levels of engagement Difference between engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged employees The little things that make a big difference Creating a mission statement that people see and understand Key Takeaways: Money, trips, and gifts won't guarantee that your employees will stay in your practice. Higher levels of engagement is directly connected to higher levels of productivity. You need to get your engaged group larger. It's often the little things that make a big difference. Communicate your expectations clearly, never assume. Make sure that staff have materials and equipment that's enough for them to work well and comfortably.Create a mission statement and make sure that it is visible and that everyone is aware that it is important. In order for people to dedicate their time into it, they need to see it and they need to understand it. “If there is a piece of paper in the hallway, an engaged person will pick it up and throw it away. A disengaged person will probably ignore it, while an actively disengaged person will probably add more trash in the hallway.” - Aashi Arora Connect with Aashi Arora:Website: www.iriseexecutivecoaching.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/aashiarorairiseexecutivecoaching/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aashi.irise/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aashi.irise Want to be a guest on PracticeCare? Episode Highlights Life Changing Diagnosis Four years ago Clarita was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. She went in for her annual screening and after an abnormal reading and several follow up tests, she was told she had breast cancer. She was given her diagnosis on Friday and was scheduled for surgery the following Monday. Clarita was in shock and wanted more time to process. Her doctor told her, “(In a month) the cancer might progress to a more serious stage. …you are in a position in which you can have the surgery and move on with your life.” Sitting in Victim Mode For almost year Clarita blamed herself, was in disbelief, and asked herself over and over why this happened to her. She felt the world was against her. She felt the negative thoughts affecting her physically with headaches and discomfort in her body. Clarita had an impactful moment of clarity on a run. She pleaded with the Universe to get her out of this state. Soon after, she went back to school and studied nutrition. Nutrition is Vital But Not Enough “I ate healthy and exercised and yet was still at war within myself. I needed to heal myself from within.” Clarita started her inner healing process with childhood trauma work and therapy. She went on to do many other modalities. “I did a little bit of everything to be honest. And, I believe that's the best way to do it. You'll be surprised by what really speaks to you or really makes a difference for you.” Inner child work, meditation, and journaling have been the most impactful for Clarita. Offerings Clarita offers a motivational and inspirational text every Monday. On Fridays, she offers a newsletter filled with tools that focus on holistic health and nutrition. Throughout the week she posts recipes, updates and offerings, and motivation on her social media. Most recently Clarita published her Wellness Journal. “I couldn't talk about a healthy lifestyle without talking about the journal. This is the most powerful tool that made and continues to make the biggest difference in my life.” Sometimes We Have The Best Intentions… Clarita noticed that most of her clients and community members truly wanted to make changes and new and healthy habits. The challenge is actually understanding that we need to intentionally create space for it. The journey of holistic health begins with dedicating time and space for it instead of waking up and letting the day take you wherever the needs of others and work are. The journal has a planner to help carve out time for ourselves, set intentions, commit to our goals and dreams, and stick to them. “There is a magic that happens when you really put our thoughts into paper. There's a connection that happens within yourself. I started writing and sharing my journey with myself and really looking into my thoughts. I realized that even though I was working on my health journey on the outside, my inner thoughts were so toxic.” “We live busy lives and thoughts just come in. We make decisions every single day based on those thoughts. Sometimes our thoughts are not the reality of who we are.” The Wellness Journal is a tool to have awareness of our thoughts. I Rise, You Rise In the process of publishing her journal, Clarita reached out to them to ask other women who had published books and journals. She was overwhelmed by their willingness to share every bit of their process. After she published, many women who were inspired by her work asked her how she did it. Clarita was able to pay it forward and share her process with them. In her podcast, Clarita shares her journey and knowledge. She also interviews other amazing women who share their journeys and knowledge. “(They) show us, inspire us, motivate us to continue on our journey. I have learned so much from these women.” 1% Better Everyday Clarita was inspired by the book Atomic Habits “We overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a year.” Everyday, her goal is to be 1% better than before. She makes this happen by making space everyday to journal, acknowledge this intention, and recommit to it daily. About Clarita Clarita Escalante lives in Arizona with her husband and she has two daughters in college. She works full time in the mortgage industry while hosting her podcast The Clarita Escalante Show, coaching clients on their health and goals journey, publishing a weekly newsletter and weekly text, and launching her first holistic healing retreat. In 2018, Clarita received a diagnosis for breast cancer and has been sharing her journey since. She had her surgery three days after her diagnosis and screenings every 3 months thereafter. Most recently, she has been cleared to have screenings every 6 months! Clarita attributes her healing to healthy and holistic habits in nutrition, mindfulness, holistic therapies, inner child work, and journaling. The biggest step for her was making her time and needs a priority everyday. Enjoy the Podcast? If you enjoyed today's episode of The Heidi B Show, then hit subscribe, and share it with your friends! Racial trauma is very Real! Much of what we are experiencing is tied to a larger context of intergenerational trauma which is a trauma that has been passed on through generations stemming from slavery, Jim Crow Laws, etc. This trauma is in our bodies and our psyches. It's painful, but to look away is to deny it's existence and it's very pervasive and burdensome! We must continue to pray, fight, and rise in this moment. In the words of the late Maya Angelou: "Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I Rise, I Rise, I Rise!" Please check on your people, even if you do not understand what's happening. A compassionate heart and having a ear to hear instead of judge can be very encouraging.
