Human Papillomavirus, or HPV, is a virus that infects the skin and wet surfaces of the body. It's a disease that's commonly spread through sexual activity, and over 80% of people will get it at some point in their lifetime. HPV is an endemic disease, which, in epidemiology, means that it is constantly present in a particular population. While most people recover from HPV, there can be complications. It is responsible for more than 90% of anal and cervical cancers and can also cause oropharyngeal cancer. Dr. Wu, a board-certified otolaryngologist, specializes in head and neck surgical oncology. Diseases like HPV and cancers that affect the head and neck are what she sees most in her patients. Working closely with other multispecialty experts at PNI, Dr. Wu is committed to guiding her patients through their cancer journeys. Listen in.
The National Cancer Institute is exploring a new new tech-based treatment to help patients overcome a severe breathing disorder caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. Leaders from the agency's Center for Cancer Research — Dr. Clint Allen, a senior investigator, and Dr. Scott Norberg, an associate research physician — join us to discuss the findings from their recent study on the Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis, which can cause damage to the vocal cords and block airways, making it hard to breathe. Allen and Norberg shared details about the therapy, which uses a gorilla adenovirus based-technology to target the infection.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection that can lead to various health issues, including genital warts and certain types of cancer. Gardasil is a vaccine developed to protect against HPV infection. It is recommended for both males and females to prevent the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of developing related cancers. Gardasil is most effective when administered before exposure to the virus through sexual activity. The Gardasil vaccine is typically given in a series of shots over a period of six months. It is designed to target the most common strains of HPV that are known to cause genital warts and cervical cancer. The vaccine has been proven to be safe and effective in preventing HPV infection and its associated health complications. It is an important tool in reducing the prevalence of HPV-related diseases and promoting overall public health. In conclusion, Gardasil is a crucial vaccine in the fight against HPV and its consequences. By getting vaccinated, individuals can protect themselves from HPV-related health issues and contribute to the prevention of the virus in the community. It is recommended to consult healthcare providers for more information on the vaccine and its benefits.

Welcome to How Humans Heal. In today's episode, I'm going to be talking about the truths associated with the HPV virus, human papillomavirus. I'm going to be highlighting 3 main truths that I feel everyone should definitely know, but I'll actually be sharing more than three. If you would like more help, I welcome you to join me at the next Heal HPV workshop. I'll put the link down below, and you can find it on my website. You can join for free from anywhere in the world, so you can learn more about the myths and truths about HPV and how you can clear it. You can clear it - I see it over and over, every day, with the women and men that I work with. You do not have to wait and see if it gets worse. This is the third truth I really want to share with you: you do not have to wait and see if it gets worse. Most practitioners will have you on the "wait and see" plan, and I'm here to say, you do not have to be on the "wait and see" plan. You can be on the "take action now and clear the virus" plan, and that's what you're going to find on my website, including in my "Say Goodbye to HPV" program and the services I offer with my team. Thanks again for joining me for How Humans Heal. I look forward to connecting with you in the next episode. Be sure to subscribe and leave me a review and a comment if you'd like. Have you ever wondered why we actually need to get a pap smear or why the testing guidelines frequently change? The presence of HPV or the Human Papilloma Virus is associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer and is the reason behind the pap smear. A pap smear looks at the health of the cells in our cervix and the presence of HPV. When abnormal cells are found, it is usually recommended that we have those cells removed at the risk of the functionality of our cervix. In this eye-opening conversation with Nathan Riley, MD, we learn the statistics around actually developing cervical cancer even with an abnormal pap smear, the risks versus benefits of the Gardasil vaccine, and the long-term consequences of cervical procedures, particularly as it relates to a woman's birth experience. Nathan encourages us to think about the HPV virus as we would any virus that we come into contact with in our environment. It's not the virus that we should fear, but rather the response of our immune systems, which can be influenced by modifiable risk factors. If you are due for your pap or have an abnormal result, be sure to listen to this episode.Nathan Riley MDBeloved Holistics**********Down to Birth is sponsored by:DrinkLMNT -- Purchase LMNT with this link today and receive a free sample kit.Silverette Nursing Cups -- Soothe and heal sore nipples with 925 silver nursing cups.Postpartum Soothe -- Herbs and padsicles to heal and comfort.Needed -- Optimal nutritional products to nourish yourself before, during, and after pregnancyConnect with us on Patreon for our exclusive content.Email Contact@DownToBirthShow.comInstagram @downtobirthshowCall us at 802-GET-DOWNWork with Cynthia:203-952-7299HypnoBirthingCT.comWork with Trisha:734-649-6294 Connect with us on Patreon for our exclusive content.Email Contact@DownToBirthShow.comInstagram @downtobirthshowCall us at 802-GET-DOWN Work with Cynthia: 203-952-7299 HypnoBirthingCT.com Work with Trisha: 734-649-6294 Please remember we don't provide medical advice. Host: Darryl S. Chutka, M.D., @ChutkaMD Guest: Evelyn A. Reynolds, M.D. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month | Cervical cancer is the fourth most common malignancy in women worldwide, although the number of new cases in the U.S. has been declining. The vast majority of cervical cancers are caused by infection with the Human Papilloma Virus. Due to a combination of HPV immunization and early detection with cervical cancer screening, advanced cases are becoming much less common and when detected early, cervical cancer is one of the more treatable malignancies. Although cervical cancer screening is relatively easy to perform, the guidelines for performing the test have become more complicated. In this podcast, we'll discuss cervical cancer screening with my guest Evelyn A. Reynolds, M.D., from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo Clinic. I'll be asking her when to start screening, how often patients should be screened, when we can stop screening and more. Having decided on a life of public service, Kristina Marty pursued public administration immediately after graduating college—first in a masters of public administration program and then in various practitioner roles, mostly focused on health and human services agencies. After these work experiences, which included a little research, she decided to go back for her PhD and looked at public administration from the academic side. Starting in a tenure track position and a newborn and felt the crush of trying to do it all but somehow she kept things together. At a certain point, however, she learned that all was not as it seemed and the marriage that she was relying on dissolved. The lessons she learned from dealing with this unexpected and unwelcome wrench in the plans taught her a lot about what to do when your first choice outcome is no longer in the set of realistic options. And when health became something more than academic for her, she relied on the lessons learned with her earlier dose of adversity. In this episode, find out from Kristina how learning what you can and can't control can ultimately guide you to a little serenity and gratitude. About This Episode's GuestKristina Marty is a mother and cancer survivor Kristina Marty who also currently serves as Senior Associate Dean in the College of Community and Public Affairs, and Professor of Public Administration at Binghamton University. Steph's advocacy for immunisation awareness and vaccination became a collaboration in 2018 with Meningococcal Australia and resulted in Meningococcal vaccination campaigns by the Australian Government Department of Health and NSW Health. Lily's story quickly resonated with audiences and became a national and international appeal for awareness, education and vaccination. Steph's work expanded during the pandemic and today she continues to advocate for improved access to vaccines, public education for lifelong vaccination behaviour and policy reform. MatterofVax, in collaboration with Immunisation Foundation of Australia takes a look at topical immunisation issues on video and podcast. Listen to Matter of Vax on Apple. Does the Human Papillomavirus regularly lead to cancer? Does the HPV vaccine help protect you or your child from developing cancer? Is the vaccine itself safe or effective?Christina Hildebrand of a Voice for Choice Advocacy joins Faithful Freedom with Teryn Gregson, presented by We The Patriots USA to dive into the many layers of this topic.Teryn and Christina also discuss how California is looking to enact the “Cancer Prevention Bill” expecting school children to receive the Gardasil vaccine by 8th grade. The ways they allow 12-year-olds to make their own decisions to get something like this without their parents consent and the lobbying tactics that go into getting lawmakers and the public on board. The opinions expressed by our show guests are their own, and are not necessarily shared by We The Patriots USA. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally, more than 80% of sexually active people will be infected at some point. It can cause genital warts and several types of cancer. Although a vaccine against HPV infection has been available since 2006, vaccination rates in the US remain low. This has led to Roanna Kessler and John Gentile, at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, accepting the challenge of improving vaccination awareness and increasing vaccination rates among college students.Read more in ResearchOutreachRead some of their latest work here: https://doi.org/10.32907/RO-129-2520902226
Author and humorist Michael Branch joins us to talk about his new book, "On the Trail of the Jackalope: How a Legend Captured the World's Imagination and Helped Us Cure Cancer." He delves into the storied history of the mythological creature, often memorialized as a tongue-in-cheek hunting trophy, as well as its association with the American West, tall tales, and Wall Drug. He explains the phenomenon of the very real horned rabbits and how scientists, building on the work of virologist Richard Shope, used those cancerous growths on rabbits to develop the HPV vaccine. Mike also reports on his experience at a taxidermy workshop in, of all places, San Francisco. We muse about why people love the Jackalope, its importance in the historical and cultural landscape of the United States, and why things that fire up our imagination matter. Mike is a wonderful storyteller; you don't want to miss this episode.Mike's website:https://michaelbranchwriter.com/The Okey Dokey Brothers' song that we discuss:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPLtMrGchfAThoughts?
