“Powerful” isn't the word most people would use to describe the spiritual life of many churches or Christians today—but in the early church, it certainly was. So what are we missing now that they had then? The answer is found in the misfortune that we're comfortable talking about God and Jesus, yet often unsure—or even afraid—of what to do with the Spirit. And yet Jesus himself told the disciples it was to their advantage that He go, so the Spirit could come. In our new series, Holy Ghost, we'll take a closer look at the third Person of the Trinity and discover that what we've been missing isn't something—but Someone.

Over the past several weeks in Asking for a Friend, we've explored some of the most challenging questions of the Christian faith—starting with the nature of truth and the tension between science and belief. We examined the reliability of Scripture, the evidence for the resurrection, and wrestled through the reality of suffering and the doctrine of Hell. This week, we close the series with a message on hurt—specifically the kind that can come from within the Church—and how Christ invites us to healing, forgiveness, and a renewed love for His people.

In our culture today, the idea of divine judgment from God is one of Christianity's most offensive doctrines. The idea of Hell combined with the concept of a loving God seems incompatible. So, should we keep holding onto this long held doctrine or come up with different options? Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon discusses the biblical teaching on Hell and whether or not there are other options we can consider.

The number one reason that people struggle with the idea of a loving God is the presence of evil and suffering in the world. The honest truth is that it is a legitimate question. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon shares a powerful story in the book of John where Jesus gently leads us through the different questions we have about the suffering in our lives.

The resurrection of Jesus is a major historical problem, no matter how you look at it. If it never happened, then Christians are fools, but if it did happen, it is the most important event in human history and demands a response. The question then is, did the resurrection actually happen? Join us for Baptism Sunday as Pastor Brandon discusses the evidence that Christ is risen.

The reliability of the Bible is under attack today. It is dismissed as God's Word spoken to us through the objections of supposed contradictions, historical inaccuracies, or poor transmission through the centuries. But do these criticisms actually hold water? This Sunday Pastor Brandon will discuss how the New Testament specifically is not only the most reliable and well preserved ancient documents by far, but that there is a great case to be made it was written by God.

Famed atheist Richard Dawkins declared that, “Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence” – especially scientific evidence. Since the Enlightenment, the benefits of scientific discovery have also resulted in a belief that since God is not able to be observed or measured, that he does not exist. But is that true? This Sunday Pastor Brandon will discuss how scientific discoveries in the invisible realm are now some of the most logical reasons to believe in an Intelligent Designer.

Waiting is one of the hardest things we experience in life. Not knowing what's next. Not knowing when answers will come. The temple was rebuilt, and the nation of Israel was waiting for God's return. What was He waiting for? After the final prophet, Malachi, Israel entered a long silence… waiting. Join us this weekend as we conclude the Scrolls You Skipped, and hear what God is calling us to in the waiting.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon shares from the prophet Zephaniah how a passion for God can be nurtured.

What does it really mean to live by faith, especially when life feels unfair, and God seems silent? In the book of Habakkuk, we see a prophet who brings his pain to God, wrestles with hard realities, and ultimately chooses to rejoice in God's strength and salvation. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Mike walks through Habakkuk and reminds us that living by faith isn't about having all the answers, it's about trusting the One who does.

It's the least read book in the entire Bible, with no quotations in the New Testament, and no prophecies regarding the coming Messiah. So why would we bother reading the book that is already the least read book in the entire Bible? Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon shares the relevance of the small but mighty book of Obadiah.

One of the qualities of a godly person and a great nation is when justice is valued.
