As we look at the baptism of Jesus, we'll see what the Father reveals about Himself and what every father should strive to be. It's a message about presence, identity, and the powerful impact a father can have in the life of a child.
Why do you secretly feel like a fraud? Most of us have a gap, sometimes a small one and sometimes a canyon, between the person other people see and the person we know we actually are. And underneath all of it is a low grade exhaustion of pretending. In this sermon, Pastor Brandon opens the second week of our Counterfeit Kings series with a king almost no one has heard of, Abijah (also called Abijam), and uses his story to expose something deeply true about most of our lives. Abijah has two biographies in Scripture. In 2 Chronicles 13, he stands in front of a hostile army outnumbered two to one and delivers a speech so confident in God that you would cast him as the hero of a movie. In 1 Kings 15, the same man is summarized in one sentence. His heart was not fully devoted to the Lord, and he repeated the sins of his father.Pastor Brandon shows that these two biographies are not a contradiction. They are the same king described by two different writers, to two different audiences, asking two different questions. Kings is asking, how did we get here? Chronicles is asking, where do we go from here? And the painful thing is that most of us have the exact same problem. There is a version of us our family sees, our coworkers see, our social media followers see. And there is a version of us only God sees. And the gap between those two is the most exhausting thing about being human.Pastor Brandon does not let the question sit theoretical. He asks it straight. If God wrote your biography today and pressed print, would you stop the press? That is the diagnostic. The fix is not better performance. It is not polishing your image. The fix is wholehearted devotion to God in every compartment of your life, including the ones you have locked the door on. Pastor Brandon takes us to Psalm 139:23 to 24 ("search me and know me"), and reminds us that the unexamined life is not worth living. He challenges men in particular this Father's Day, because the people who suffer most from our two biography living are our spouse and our kids. And then the message lands at the cross. Jesus is the one king whose public and private life matched perfectly. He loved the Father with all his heart, all his soul, and all his much. On the cross, he was treated the way we deserve, so we can be treated the way he deserves. In his resurrection, he does not just forgive your divided heart, he moves in. The very life of God fuses to yours. He does not say "now do better." He says "now I will help you."If you have been carrying the weight of a hidden chapter, this teaching is for you. The good news is God is not done writing your biography.
This Father's Day, Pastor Brandon continued our series on Judges with a challenge to be stronger than Samson, not in physical strength, but in character, conviction, and obedience to God. Samson's life reminds us that true strength is found in surrendering to God and living faithfully according to His calling.
There is no shortage of opinions on who Jesus is. Everyone has one and there are many different versions. While a pursuit of his true identity is paramount, our response is equally vital. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon shares from Colossians that Jesus can either be of no significance or infinite significance; the only thing he can't be is moderately significant.
Happy Father's Day tomorrow as we begin a summer series based on the Proverbs of King Solomon. He definitely had some situations that we can glean from! There were two teenage brothers, out for summer break, and they decided they would start a business, selling eggs they got from their grandmother. They bought the eggs for a dollar a dozen, and started selling the eggs for a dollar a dozen. They caught on that they were not making any money! Their solution was, “WE GOT TO GET A BIGGER TRUCK.” Some things you just learn by your experiences. But even better is when you learn from other people's experiences. Proverbs is written with the purpose for us to learn how to practically live the abundant life on earth that Jesus promised us in John 10:10, “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; but, I came that you might have life, and have it abundantly!”. I look forward to the opportunity to teach from Proverbs the next few weeks. Pastor Brandon will share the teaching opportunities the first of July and Pastor Brad will be returning to teach the last part of July. I hope you will worship in person if you are in town. Let's continue to grow together.
How does a comeback actually happen? It doesn't happen over night, and the unfortunate reality is that something bad has to happen first for it even be necessary. The good news is that the Bible doesn't hold real life examples of this from us, and one of the best comes in the form of Peter. In Week 4 of "Comeback Stories," Pastor Brandon Petty from Generation Church leads us through a study of Peter's journey from declaring Jesus the Messiah, to denying him three times, to ultimately leading the spread of the Gospel.
What do you do when life feels uncertain, stressful, or completely out of your control? In this message, Pastor Brandon continues our **Chasing Purpose** series by teaching through Proverbs 3 and one of the most well-known promises in Scripture: **“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”**Pastor Brandon reminds us that life often brings seasons we cannot control. Jobs change, finances get tight, people move, the economy shifts, and the world can feel unstable. But in the middle of uncertainty, God invites us to trust Him fully. This message unpacks what it actually means to trust God: learning His truth, obeying His will, sharing in His blessings, and submitting to His correction. When we choose God's wisdom over our own understanding, He brings health, peace, direction, and nourishment to our lives. If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs a reminder to hold tightly to Jesus and trust Him in every season.Make sure to like and subscribe to stay up to date with weekly messages from Venture Church.
We all have areas of brokenness, weakness, and struggle that we'd rather keep hidden. This Sunday, we'll look at the story of Naaman and discover how God's grace meets us in the very places where we are most aware of our need for Him.

In this message from Judges, Pastor Brandon unpacks Samson's origin story and the truth that God often starts His greatest work in barren places. Before Samson stepped into his calling, God made a promise to a woman who believed her story was marked by impossibility. If you're in a season of waiting or uncertainty, this message is a reminder that God's promises are greater than your circumstances. The barren place may be where He's preparing you for His purpose.
In a world full of competing voices telling us who Jesus is and what really matters, the book of Colossians calls us back to what is true and unshakable. Written to believers surrounded by confusion, pressure, and spiritual counterfeits, this letter lifts our eyes to the absolute supremacy and sufficiency of Christ. Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon begins our study of Colossians where we learn Jesus is not one option among many; He is before all things, over all things, and enough for all things.

Everything still begins with God. In Genesis 1:1, Scripture opens with the powerful truth that before creation, before time, and before anything existed, God was already present. In There Is A God (Part 2), Pastor Brandon Hill continues this faith-building message by reminding us that God is not distant, random, or disconnected from our lives. He is Creator, Sustainer, and the One who gives purpose to everything He made. This message will strengthen your faith, renew your confidence, and remind you that your life is held by the God who created all things.
What did the prophets mean when they warned of “peace, peace” when there was no peace? In this Hebraic Idioms study, Pastor Brandon Holthaus examines the powerful biblical expression found in Ezekiel and how it applies not only to ancient Israel but also to the world today. Drawing from Ezekiel, Jeremiah, the teachings of Paul, and the words of Jesus, this message explores the danger of false security, the deception of comforting lies, and the reality that true peace can only come through a right relationship with God. Pastor Brandon explains how false prophets promised safety while judgment was approaching, why people naturally prefer reassuring messages over difficult truth, and how the same pattern will reappear in the last days through the global cry of “peace and safety.” The study also examines personal responsibility, generational influences, spiritual deception, and the importance of breaking destructive patterns through obedience to Christ. Topics covered: • The Hebraic idiom “Peace, Peace” (Shalom, Shalom) • False prophets and false assurances • Ezekiel 13 and Jeremiah's warnings • Paul's prophecy of “peace and safety” • The danger of spiritual complacency • Judgment, repentance, and biblical truth • Generational patterns and personal responsibility • Breaking destructive family cycles • Spiritual warfare and discernment • The difference between false peace and true biblical peace • End times parallels and prophetic implications • How believers can stand firm in a culture of deception Join us as we explore this important Hebraic idiom and discover why genuine peace is found only through Jesus Christ.

There is a God, and everything begins with Him. In Genesis 1:1, Scripture opens with the powerful truth that God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. In There Is A God, Pastor Brandon Hill delivers a faith-building message that reminds us our lives are not random, our purpose is not accidental, and our world is held together by the God who spoke creation into existence. This message will challenge you to trust the Creator, anchor your faith in His truth, and live with confidence knowing that God is real, present, and still working.
What does it actually mean to fear the Lord?In this message, Pastor Brandon continues our Chasing Purpose series as we move from Ecclesiastes into the book of Proverbs. Solomon begins Proverbs by teaching that wisdom starts with one foundational truth: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”But fear of the Lord does not mean being scared of God. For followers of Jesus, it means living with reverence, awe, humility, and deep respect for who God is. It means choosing God's wisdom over our own understanding, listening to His voice above the opinions of the world, and allowing His Word to shape the way we live.Pastor Brandon reminds us that there are always two voices competing for our attention: wisdom and foolishness, God's way and our own way. True wisdom begins when we surrender our plans, trust God's direction, and live with reverence for the One who created us, loves us, and will never leave us.This message also includes a powerful time of communion and a Kingdom Builders Light Bearers Project update. If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs wisdom and direction this week.Make sure to like and subscribe to stay up to date with weekly messages from Venture Church.Timestamps0:00 – YouTube Welcome from Pastor Brandon0:18 – Welcome to Venture Church1:25 – Introducing Proverbs1:52 – Proverbs of Solomon3:03 – The Fear of the Lord Is the Beginning of Knowledge3:35 – How to Read the Bible5:02 – Reading a Proverb a Day5:27 – The Main Theme of Proverbs6:00 – Proverbs as Wisdom Literature7:27 – What Wisdom Means8:01 – Wisdom and Folly8:55 – Two Voices Competing for Your Attention9:28 – God's Plan vs. Our Plan10:15 – Everyone Has an Opinion11:44 – Wisdom and Folly in Everyday Life12:17 – Real Questions People Are Asking Right Now13:49 – Unlocking Wisdom in Proverbs14:26 – God's Plan vs. My Plan15:23 – The Way of a Fool Seems Right16:32 – When Feelings Lead Us the Wrong Way17:54 – What Does “Fear of the Lord” Mean?19:25 – Fear of God Without Jesus20:10 – The Journey of Following Jesus20:35 – Fear of God as Reverence21:05 – Worshiping God with Reverence and Awe21:44 – Respectful Fear of God22:48 – A Child's Reverence for Their Parents24:15 – Reverential Respect25:03 – God Is the Creator, We Are His Creation25:56 – Reverence, Obedience, and Fellowship with God26:09 – True Wisdom Comes from Knowing Who God Is27:09 – Nothing Can Separate Us from God's Love28:44 – God Will Never Leave or Forsake Us29:12 – Fear of the Lord Shapes How We Live30:25 – Fear of God Drives Out Fear of Man30:58 – Obedience Leads to Deeper Relationship31:06 – Communion Moment32:27 – Reflecting and Remembering33:52 – Making Things Right with Jesus35:22 – Remembering What Jesus Has Done36:01 – Receiving the Bread36:42 – The Cup and the Blood of Jesus37:52 – Invitation to Begin a Relationship with Jesus39:17 – Salvation Prayer40:10 – Receiving the Cup40:13 – Worship Response45:15 – Kingdom Builders Light Bearers Project Update45:36 – Mike and Kayla Anderson Share46:18 – Why Kids Ministry Matters47:17 – Ways to Participate in Light Bearers48:24 – Invitation to Give48:43 – What's Next Resource49:03 – YouTube Outro

Can you keep sinning and still go to heaven? Is it okay to support a friend who just told you she had an abortion? How do you honor a parent who says they're a Christian but doesn't live like one? These are the kinds of questions most people are afraid to ask out loud.In this Fire Away Q&A service, Pastor Brian and Pastor Brandon sit on stage together and answer the questions our congregation texts in live. No script, no preselected questions, no editing. Just real pastoral answers to the things people are actually wrestling with.Pastor Brandon opens with the apologetic question: how do you reach a family member who loves history but is on the fence about the gospel? He points to the historical credibility of the gospel accounts, especially the witness of the women at the resurrection in a culture that did not value women's testimony, 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul says you could still go talk to people who saw the risen Jesus, the work of scholars like Wes Huff and Lee Strobel, and the wild improbability of the disciples inventing a story they would die violent deaths to defend. The conversation gets harder fast with the abortion question. Pastor Brian and Pastor Brandon walk slowly through what it means to love someone who has done something Scripture calls sin without endorsing the sin. Be available. Play the long relational game. Pray that one day God uses you to point them not just to the gravity of what they have done, but to the cross that has already paid for it.On honoring a parent who says they are a Christian but does not live like one, Pastor Brian unpacks the difference between obey and honor, why honor has to transcend even decades of disappointment, why dishonor is just drinking poison and hoping the other person dies, and why the deeper question may not be "how do I confront this person" but "does this person actually need to be born again?"They tackle tattoos (mostly a conscience question for New Testament believers, not the Old Testament Canaanite context many people assume), the best advice for newlyweds (Pastor Brian's encouragement to pray together out loud regularly, and Pastor Brandon's reminder to find a community of other young couples who love Jesus), and they close with one of the most asked questions in modern American Christianity. If I keep sinning, can I lose my salvation?Pastor Brian's answer here is worth the whole service. You did not behave your way into salvation, and you cannot behave your way out of it. But do not play games with God either. The reason you are saved is to be sanctified. If your sin is bothering you, lean into that conviction. A bruised reed Jesus will not break, and a smoldering wick of faith he will not put out (Isaiah 42:3).If you have ever had real questions about heaven, sin, family, marriage, or doubt that nobody around you was answering, this teaching is for you. Skip to the chapter that sounds most like your story, or watch the whole thing.
In this episode, Pastor Brandon opens up a new series about wisdom, and encourages us to put down everything that is meaningless in exchange for something truly meaningful.
In this message, Pastor Brandon explore the vital roles of the Holy Spirit's gifts and fruit in our lives, emphasizing that every believer is called and equipped to serve, grow, and reflect the character of Jesus. The goal is to challenge us to be active participants in God's kingdom, serving with love that transforms our ministry and relationships.
What do you value most in life? In this episode, we dive into Philippians 3:1–11 and explore Paul's powerful testimony about the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus Christ. Despite his impressive religious background and accomplishments, Paul counted it all as loss compared to a relationship with Christ. Join us as we discuss the difference between faith and works, the danger of placing confidence in our own efforts, and what it means to truly rejoice in the Lord through every season of life. This message will challenge you to evaluate your priorities and discover the life-changing value of knowing Jesus above all else.
This Sunday we continue the story of Samson and examine the events that led to one of the most devastating moments of his life. Through this powerful passage, we'll explore how seemingly small decisions can shape our future and why staying close to God matters more than we often realize.

What if the hardest season of your life is actually God's invitation to discover His goodness in ways you never imagined? Pastor Brandon reveals how Elihu, a fiery young man in Job's story, dismantles the dangerous "karma gospel"—the lie that good things happen to good people and bad things to bad people. Through Elihu's bold wisdom, we learn that God remains infinitely good even when life feels devastatingly unfair, and that our response to suffering reveals whether we'll become bitter or better. In today's culture, we can look for rest in all the wrong places. God wants us to have rest, peace and joy - and it's only found in His presence. Perhaps the most difficult place to move from ritual to relationship in prayer is when we ask God for something and His answer is no. For many, God's “no” has become a stumbling block in understanding how a loving and all-powerful God works. So why does He sometimes say no? Join us this Sunday as Pastor Brandon explores several reasons God may not answer our prayers the way we expect.

This Sunday we'll walk through one of the most raw and tension filled moments in Samson's life and see how God continues to work even in seasons of failure, weakness, and brokenness.
We believe the next move of God will come from churches who operate in both Word and Spirit. Grounded in the truth of the Word of God, and with a love of God's presence and belief in miracles and gifts. This Pentecost Sunday, join us as we celebrate the birth of the Church and discuss how God still uses the gifts of the Holy Spirit today. In the fifth sermon of this series, Pastor Brandon shares what those gifts are and how they empower us to be God's witnesses.
Pastor Brandon concludes the Take the Hill series with a powerful call to action for families to stand together and serve the Lord, while removing idols that are in our lives.
In this episode, Pastor Brandon tackles a tough question about temptation and what we can do to truly find freedom.
Ever wonder why your toughest seasons might actually be your greatest preparation? In this message, Pastor Brandon unpacks how God doesn't build with perfect material—He builds with redeemed material. Your story, including the broken parts, is exactly what someone else needs to hear. The room you're in right now holds your assignment, and the very thing that broke you might be what builds someone else.
We wrap up our Filling Empty series today, remembering our foundational concept one more time: when feeling empty, know that God is the only one who truly fills us. Remembering that God is the one who truly fills helps us to have futures that are filled by Him. We can trust all of our days to the God of yesterday, today, and forever! Pastor Brandon enlightens us to see the couple of ways we often misuse "tomorrow", and the unnecessary pain that it causes. First, we often pull tomorrow's challenges into today, complicating today's challenges. Second, we push today's challenges into tomorrow, complicating tomorrow's challenges. Through looking at the scriptures and God's warning to focus on today and not to worry about tomorrow, we are lead to ultimately see that trusting God with our future fills us with peace today. - Key verses // Matthew 5:6, 6:34. - For Sermon Notes, the Connect Card, and our other online resources: https://linktr.ee/Celebrationchurchlive
