This is the official podcast of The Tokusatsu Network where we discuss Tokusatsu movies, TV shows and news.
After a long, impromptu hiatus, the TokuNet Podcast is back! A lot has happened in the tokusatsu world over the last year or so since our last podcast episode. So we brought the crew back together to talk about some of the highlight stories of the year along with more current topics such as Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once and Always, the Ultraman Blazar announcement, and the release of Shin Kamen Rider in Japanese theaters and the upcoming US screening (recorded before the initial screening). We also delve into deeper topics such as the recent boom of tokusatsu localizations in the West, how Super Sentai has been experimenting with their format for the past several years, and our thoughts on the Reiwa era Kamen Rider shows thus far. It's a jam-packed episode and we hope that you enjoy is as much as we enjoyed recording it. Let us know your thoughts on any of the topics discussed in this episode. And come back next episode when we share our review of Shin Kamen Rider! Editor-in-Chief Paula Gaetos chats with artist Kyle Carrozza, creator of the Cartoon Network animated series, Mighty Magiswords. Recorded: August 1, 2016 Kyle Carrozza was the Tokusatsu Network's inaugural Artist Feature and we were very happy to be able to chat with him about his latest work on Cartoon Network, Mighty Magiswords. Mighty Magiswords is set to premiere on September 29th at 6:30pm. The show centers around the adventuring siblings, Prohyas and Vambre, and their trusted, fun, and, often times, ridiculous Magiswords. The show builds on the original 15-second series that launched the previous year on the interactive CN Anything app. Concurrent with the upcoming TV series production, almost 400 pieces of platform-specific original content have been custom developed, including shorts, vlogs, web and mobile games, and interactive narrative content—and all will be enhanced with proprietary technology allowing fans to participate in the world and collect their favorite swords. “Mighty Magiswords has been an incredible journey, starting as a simple interactive digital product and organically developing into a true multi-story world,” said Chief Content Officer, Rob Sorcher. “Expect Magiswords to continue expansion in tech and content, with new ways for the audience to participate, contribute, play, watch and collect.” Fans can check out the five minute minisode "Pool Fools" on the Cartoon Network YouTube channel and play the slightly addicting Hoversword Hustle game on Cartoon Network's website. Fans can also see the first full preview episode of Mighty Magiswords for free on iTunes and purchase the whole season as it's released. A very special thanks to Kyle Carrozza and Melissa Mills for making this episode possible. Be sure to subscribe to TokuNet Podcast on iTunes and Stitcher. Feel free to rate and review our content!
