Joined this week by the one and only Anthony “AC” Casanas, and it was an amazing conversation! We started out by discussing firehouse culture and how he learned all about it long before he was ever a firefighter. Why younger members need something real to emulate, and how social media can be either an incredible tool or an incredible hindrance. And so much more! Of course all of this was beautifully derailed by the amazing questions from the audience as usual!!

Canada's future won't be decided in PDF strategies — it will be decided by what we actually build: trade corridors, clean power, AI datacentres, agtech and northern connectivity that can stand up in a more volatile world. In this episode of Disruptors: The Canada Project, John Stackhouse speaks with Daniel Debow, Chair of the Board at Build Canada, and Lucy Hargreaves, the organization's CEO, about how a new builder mindset is taking shape across the country — and why sovereignty and competitiveness now depend on turning ideas into infrastructure at speed and scale. As global trade routes shift and geopolitical tensions rise, they explore how Canada can capitalize on its advantages — from Arctic gateways and critical minerals to Prairie food corridors and on-farm agtech — while giving the next generation real ways to step into nation-building, in business and in public service.www.buildcanada.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Sometimes it takes leaving a position to see what you've been missing the whole time. That was certainly the case for today's guest, Cory Hartman. After 13 years in a pastoral role, he entered a new chapter as a dad looking for a church for his family... And it was only then that he realized just how much time, money, and energy went into making sure the Sunday morning service ran smoothly. And that that same amount of resources was NOT being dedicated to disciple-making. Through a number of opportunities and new experiences, he ended up dedicating his time to building a network amongst disciple-making movements across the world, and continues that work with New Generations. We talked about the lessons Cory learned after leaving pastoral ministry, how to make disciples in our ultra-urban environments in the West, and what we can learn from other disciple-making movements around the world. In this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:36 Cory and New Generations 4:30 How it all got started 13:54 Lessons about church from outside a pastoral role 23:29 New insights on what the church is meant to be 29:29 How do we make disciples in the modern urban context? 40:15 Are there any western disciple-making movements getting to the 4th generation? 45:04 Starting chain reactions in the West Resources: New Generations: https://newgenerations.network Future Church by Cory Hartman and Will Mancini: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1540900614/ ---

Based on the article “From Observing to Owning: A New Generation's Perspective on Leading Huddles” by Mark McKenzie and Andrew Martyn, this podcast explores how empowering a Gen Z team member to lead daily huddles transformed them from routine check-ins into meaningful developmental experiences.Andrew shares his journey from passive observation to active leadership and reflects on how trust, humility, and respect can make huddles engaging, productive, and connected. By contrasting previously experienced ineffective huddles with a more inclusive and purposeful approach, he demonstrates how clear intent and ownership can energize a team's daily rhythm. The discussion emphasizes that huddles are most powerful when they are designed to not only manage work but to develop people. Core lessons include defining the purpose and experience of the huddle, encouraging participation, following standard processes, and fostering continuous improvement.Ultimately, the session highlights how giving ownership to team members builds both capability and culture, turning a simple system into a shared experience that strengthens alignment, engagement, and growth. To learn more, please visit: https://shingo.org.
Terrance Mentor is a South African content creator, writer, and speaker known online as AfroDaddy. He uses humor and authenticity to share his experiences as a father, advocating for positive masculinity, diversity, and mental health awareness. He's been doing this work for 10 years, and he believes that if you want to advance motherhood, look at the fathers. When fathers are emotionally and physically present, the biggest winners are the fathers themselves, but the second biggest winners are the mothers. We talk about how our generation is the first to attempt egalitarian parenting, and we're doing it clumsily while the world falls apart around us. Just one generation ago, fathers weren't even expected to be in the delivery room. Terrance explains that fatherhood needs to start before you have a child by examining how you were fathered, and then gatekeepers like hospital staff, schools, and family members need policies that always include fathers. But most importantly, fathers need to talk about their experiences. It took Terrance five years of doing AfroDaddy before a dad told him he felt less alone and more empowered. The first active fathers group he joined was literally last week. What's missing from the conversation is the why of fatherhood. Not the practical how-to stuff, but why any man would want to do this. Terrance describes coming home to an 18-month-old running into his arms shouting "dadda" as the best thing he'll ever experience. Your relationship with your child is the only relationship you get to define completely. But fatherhood is fragile, like an embryo. One criticism can make a dad step back entirely. We discuss maternal gatekeeping, the "same team" mantra he uses with his wife, and why society needs to celebrate dads stepping up without adding more labor to moms' lists. The goal is simple: make dads flex their fatherhood loudly and proudly. This week on Legends & Champions, we're heading to Boston for Survivor Series 1993 — a turning-point PPV where the New Generation era truly began to take shape. The Hulkamania shadows were fading, new stars were rising, and the WWF was trying to prove it could evolve without its biggest icon. We dig into everything from the All-Americans vs. The Foreign Fanatics — and the backstage drama that led to Luger replacing Hogan as the patriotic torchbearer — to the legendary Hart Family vs. Shawn Michaels & His Knights showdown, featuring Brett's master-class storytelling and the seeds of an epic family feud. Plus: Undertaker in the stars-and-stripes, Doink-filled chaos, and the kind of early-90s WWF weirdness that only Survivor Series could deliver. Was the event a bold new chapter or an awkward transition? We break it all down — the matches, the promos, the politics, and how this PPV set the stage for the mid-90s revolution to come. Dust off the tassels, fire up that Coliseum Video nostalgia, and join us for a deep dive into Survivor Series ‘93. Legends & Champions — Where wrestling's legacy lives and legends never fade.
Jews for Jesus helps Jewish people come to know Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. What's fascinating is how Jews for Jesus has not only remained committed to that mission of sharing the hope of the Jewish Messiah, but has also adapted as the world around it has changed. As ministry leaders, we face the tension between time-honored tradition and the need for fresh approaches—and the story of Jews for Jesus offers some compelling lessons in adaptive leadership. In this episode, Aaron Abramson, CEO of Jews for Jesus and author of Mission Design, shares how Jews for Jesus has reimagined its strategies for sharing the gospel, as well as how leaders can cultivate a posture of learning and flexibility without compromising core convictions. THIS EPISODE'S HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:Jews for Jesus began as a movement to share the gospel with Jewish people, focusing on presenting the message in accessible and relevant ways.Aaron Abramson clarifies that believing in Jesus as the Messiah does not require abandoning Jewish identity. The earliest followers of Jesus were Jewish, and the concept of Gentiles joining Jesus was initially controversial in the early church.Markus Watson asks Aaron Abramson to share his own journey of faith and what led him to believe in Jesus as the Messiah.Religious and cultural barriers often make it challenging for Jewish people to consider faith in Jesus.Jews for Jesus historically used bold street evangelism, including handing out creative broadsides and literature on college campuses.Aaron Abramson observes that the primary strategy for evangelism shifted as cultural contexts and modes of communication changed. The rise of digital communication made traditional street evangelism less effective for connecting with Jewish people.Aaron Abramson describes pivoting to a process of empathetic listening and learning from the communities he was trying to reach.Teams at Jews for Jesus began to adopt audience-centric communication, tailoring their approach for different Jewish communities and subgroups.Aaron Abramson explains the development of new outreach models, such as setting up coffee shops and arts ministries as relational spaces.Ministry teams use design thinking, prototyping, and iteration to refine new strategies and measure their impact.Changing methodologies and staying adaptive allow Jews for Jesus to remain effective in reaching diverse Jewish audiences.Markus Watson highlights the importance of continually learning and adapting, affirming that keeping a posture of learning leads to meaningful change.RELEVANT RESOURCES AND LINKS:Jews for Jesus website“So Be It” Youtube channelBooks mentioned:Mission Design, by Aaron AbramasonCenter Church, by Tim KellerRelated episodes:187: Tackling Adaptive Challenges in Church Leadership, with Angie Ward264: Building a Future-Focused Church, with Kara Powell, Jake Mulder, and Raymond ChSend me a text! Read transcriptStrap on your meat-based wrestling tights and oil up those biceps because Play Comics is about to suplex you straight into the absurdly wonderful world of Kinnikuman! This week we're tag-teaming not one, but TWO Ultimate Muscle games—The Path of the Superhero for GameCube and Legends vs New Generation for Game Boy Advance. That's right, we're going double or nothing like a Choujin who forgot leg day exists and decided to compensate with twice the spandex. These games, spawned from the legendary Kinnikuman manga and anime, brought us a universe where wrestling isn't just a sport—it's the entire basis of intergalactic civilization, which honestly makes about as much sense as any other comic book logic we've tackled on this show. Whether you're commanding Kid Muscle through his heroic quest to not embarrass his legendary father or settling the age-old debate of who would win between old-school wrestlers and the new generation (spoiler: everyone's finishing move is magnificently ridiculous), we've got you covered. Joining us for this muscle-bound mayhem is none other than SerpyMatt, who hasn't quite gotten around to launching his own podcast yet—but he's told me the concept and folks, when it finally drops, you're going to absolutely love it. Assuming he ever stops procrastinating long enough to record episode one, that is. So crack your knuckles, practice your most intimidating wrestler growl, and prepare for an episode that's guaranteed to have more body slams than a physics textbook thrown at a trampoline factory. It's time to find out if these games captured the magnificent weirdness of their source material or if they just left us feeling like we got hit with the Kinniku Buster of disappointment. Learn such things as: What happens when you give character designers unlimited freedom and a fever dream? What's the exchange rate between friendship power and actual wrestling skill? Should we be concerned that intergalactic peace depends entirely on entertainment wrestling? And so much more! You can find SerpyMatt on BlueSky @serpymatt.bsky.social. First up on the podcast, Staff Writer Robert F. Service joins host Sarah Crespi to talk about a boom in nuclear medicine, from new and more powerful radioisotopes to improved precision in cancer cell targeting. Next on the show, we talk about why we sigh. Maria Clara Novaes-Silva, a doctoral student at ETH Zürich, discusses how deep breaths cause minute rearrangements at the special interface where air meets lung. The lung flexibility granted by these deeper inhalations suggest people on ventilators might have better lung health if they were served a larger draught of air from time to time. Today on ID The Future, host Andrew McDiarmid concludes his conversation with mathematics educator, curriculum designer, and medical physicist Amos Tarfa.
