This the DANGER of a TALENTED horse: TRT Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 31, 2023 9:13

In this episode I'm diving into the world of training talented horses. It's easy to take their abilities for granted, but rushing through exercises without a proper preparation, and the right explanation of all the steps, can lead to issues later on.Take flying changes for example. While a less talented horse requires careful steps like perfecting transitions, it can seem quite easy and  effortlessly for a talented horse. The danger in this?Without groundwork, also the talented horses can struggle when expectations rise. The same goes for trailer loading. A horse may load smoothly, but without the right explanation of the entire trailer loading process, they might face challenges later on.So whether it's a flying change or trailer loading, it's best to treat all horses with equal attention. It's really important to explain each step to set them up for lasting success!

The #1 thing I would CHANGE in the HORSE world

"What's the #1 thing you'd want to change in the horse world?"That's the question I received in my latest Q&A podcast. How would you answer that question?Sure, there are a lot of things that I would like to change. But, to be honest, I also believe there are also a lot of good things happening around us already. And that we should pay more attention to these positive things instead of only pointing out all the things going wrong.Of course, people pointing out the things that are going wrong do this with the best interest in mind: to bring awareness and to make a change. However, it sometimes feels like some people are on a crusade to only share the terrible things. To show all the things that are not right. And, as a result, the horse world on social media seems to be flooded with all the things that are negative. But what is the result of a 'negative' post on social media? When I see a post like that when scrolling through my feed, I don't really know how to go from there. The instant feeling I get is sadness.I don't feel it's a place that will inspire people to make a positive, lasting change and for people to progress and move forward.I do feel this happens when you give examples of how things can be better for your horse and yourself. I feel that in order for people to make progress, they need to be motivated in a positive manner. That being said... want to know what I would change in the equestrian world by simply snapping my fingers?Find out in this video!Looking forward to reading in the comments how you feel about this topic. To learn more about TRT and my online training, go here: https://trtmethod.com/youtube
