Reino Gevers is a seasoned pilgrim who has walked twelve different Camino pilgrimage routes in northwestern Spain. His journey began after hitting a wall in his over 20-year journalism career, prompting a complete reinvention of himself. His first book, "Walking on Edge," is a fictional narrative drawn from his personal experiences on the Camino. His latest non-fiction work, "Deep Walking – for Body, Mind, and Soul," captures crucial lessons from the Camino, distilled from interviews and conversations with hundreds of fellow pilgrims and he now reveals his new book The Turning of the Circle.  Reino now dedicates much of his time to workshops, speaking tours, corporate health counseling, and mentoring leaders and achievers. Residing on the island of Majorca, he enjoys hiking, practicing martial arts, writing, and blogging in his free time. Reino believes it is our destiny as human beings to grow and become who we are truly meant to be. Life is not meant to be an easy ride. Trigger points such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, or financial ruin can elevate you to higher consciousness or leave you stagnating in melancholy. Our true calling often lies in the wounds of the past, sculpting us into the human beings we are destined to become. Reflecting on the past, it's clear how overcoming pain and obstacles equips us to fulfill our divine purpose. As an author and mentor, Reino aims to provide the tools that have helped him navigate life's challenges. Many of his insights came from long, solitary walks on the Camino de Santiago. In retrospect, those moments were among the most precious. The role of a mentor, he believes, is to guide, hold to account, and listen. De dag nadat Riet met haar in gesprek ging, vliegt Milou naar Japan, het land met de meeste zelfdodingen. Spannend hoe de documentaire daar zal vallen. In haar eigen omgeving is het taboe om erover te praten meer weggevallen. Mensen durven nu te vragen. Ze zegt: ‘ik heb het er nu heel veel over, en dat vind ik fijn. On April 1, a volunteer researcher for the Dutch Institute for Vulnerability Disclosure (DIVD) began poking around into Kaseya VSA, a popular software tool used to remotely manage and monitor computers. Within minutes, he found a zero-day vulnerability that allowed remote code execution—a serious flaw. Within weeks, his team had found seven or eight more.  In today's episode, DIVD Chair Victor Gevers describes the race to prevent one of the most devastating ransomware attacks in recent history. It's a race that Gevers and his team almost won. Almost.

South Africans would know them as the holding company for Zara and Zara home and last year was terrible for them as it was for all clothing retailers. Reino Gevers has walked at different times twelve Camino pilgrimage routes in northwestern Spain. His first book on the Camino “Walking on Edge” is a work of fiction based on first-hand experience after hitting a wall in his more than 20-year career in journalism and deciding to completely reinvent himself. “Deep Walking – for Body, Mind and Soul”,  release spring 2020, is a non-fiction summary of important lessons learned on the Camino after interviewing and talking to hundreds of pilgrims on the Way.  Reino spends much of his time on workshop and speaking tours, corporate health counseling, coaching and mentoring leaders and achievers. He lives on the island of Majorca where he spends his free time hiking, practicing martial arts, writing and blogging.

Meinen heutigen Interviewpartner Reino Gevers lernte ich im beruflichen Kontext kennen, da wir für den gleichen Auftraggeber Seminare im Gesundheits-kontext halten. Er ist geboren und aufgewachsen in Südafrika, wo er seine Karriere als Journalist begann. Später in Deutschland arbeitete er etwa 20 Jahre für die Deutsche Presseagentur in Hamburg, davon auch viele Jahre als Betriebsrat. Reino beschreibt diese Zeit als recht schwierige Zeit, denn aufgrund der beginnenden Digitalisierung hatte sich die Arbeit stark verändert und vormals sichere Jobs waren es nun nichtmehr. Darüber hinaus konnte er bei vielen Kollegen wie aber auch bei sich selbst Anzeichen von Erschöpfung und Burnout wahrnehmen. Der Weg zurück ins Leben-Podcast - von und mit Christina Bolte. Das Buch "Deep Walking for Body, Mind and Soul"* ist frisch in diesem Jahr in englischer Sprache erschienen, diese Version habe ich auch gelesen. Wann das Buch in deutscher Sprache erscheint, ist mir nicht bekannt. Das Buch besteht aus 30 Kapitel, von denen jedes dieser Kapitel mit einer kurzen "Essenz" endet, die die Erkenntnisse des Kapitelinhalts wirklich großartig in wenigen Punkten zusammenfasst. Mit "Deep Walking" meint der Autor, dass dies der Ort ist, an dem Heilung geschieht - physische Heilung, emotionale Heilung und auch spirituelle Heilung - oder Wachstum, wenn Dir dieser Begriff besser gefällt. Das Buch enthält viele Anregungen zur Selbstreflexion. Besonders gespannt war ich auf diejenigen Kapitel, die die gleichen Titel wie einige meiner Podcast-Folge tragen. Nämlich gleich das erste (Geh leicht), Geh allein und Geh langsam. Reino hat sich dazu sehr viele Gedanken gemacht, die natürlich ganz andere sind als meine eigenen. Aber umso besser, diese in Ergänzung zu haben. Nun aber viel Spass beim Zuhören!

Vanaf kinds af aan stond ze al op de judo matten bij haar vader Jo Gevers, een hele bekende binnen de judo wereld. We hebben het over haar judo tijd maar ook hoe ze haar weg naar Mixed Martial Arts vond en aansloot bij een hecht team van killers als, Daan Duijs, Duane van Helvoirt, Andy Souwer en Germaine de Randamie. Een gezellig aflevering met een vastberaden jonge vrouw die al heel haar leven aan top sport doet en serieuze kijk heeft op haar pad. Abstract: Humans and other animal species are endowed with the ability to sense, represent, and mentally manipulate the number of items in a set without needing to count them. One central hypothesis is that this ability relies on an automated functional system dedicated to numerosity, the perception of the discrete numerical magnitude of a set of items. This system has classically been associated with intraparietal regions, however accumulating evidence in favor of an early visual number sense calls into question the functional role of parietal regions in numerosity processing. Targeting specifically numerosity among other visual features in the earliest stages of processing requires high temporal and spatial resolution. We used frequency-tagged magnetoencephalography (MEG) to investigate the early automatic processing of numerical magnitudes and measured the steady-state brain responses specifically evoked by numerical and other visual changes in the visual scene. The neuromagnetic responses showed implicit discrimination of numerosity, total occupied area, and convex hull. The source reconstruction corresponding to the implicit discrimination responses showed common and separate sources along the ventral and dorsal visual pathways. Occipital sources attested the perceptual salience of numerosity similarly to both other implicitly discriminable visual features. Crucially, we found parietal responses uniquely associated with numerosity discrimination, showing automatic processing of numerosity in the parietal cortex, even when not relevant to the task. Taken together, these results provide further insights into the functional roles of parietal and occipital regions in numerosity encoding along the visual hierarchy.
