An Owl smiles to me in my window.Night & day it stares at Me.It looks at me as if it knows me.I wonder what it sees.A pair of deep black inquisitive eyes pierce through me.I Dream of an Owl in my window,a voiceless messenger meditating in my window.I ponder in Silence; is it really looking at Me?Is there really an Owl smiling at me in my window?Am I to invite the Owl in, or would that be untraditional?What if the Owl is one of my ancestors?It would be rude not to invite my Ancestor in...But how do I know I can trust the Owl?The Owl could be a fascinating trouble or delight.My flight or fight doesn't seem to be working.Am I trapped or safe?Is this how it feels to encounter God?A dilemma of curiosity smiling  the Owl in my window.

The questioning of identity is one that haunts humanity.

This poem was inspired by a divine experience I had while smoking my pipe. A whisper from my Pipe invites me to listen to the Spirit through an Aboriginal Lakota tradition. The Universe is in my Pipe. Hay-Ya Hay-Ya Hay (chant) Indigenous Shaman Healing, and Protection Chant, it is a simple chant calling on the Great Spirit for nurturing, and safety. Tribal chants are utterances with emotional meaning, and not always linguistic translations.
