The football season came and went by extremely fast.Playoffs start next Thursday, so get ready...it's about that time.My game of the week is a Midlothian vs Red Oak...Red Oak is undefeated and Midlothian lost the first game of the season to Arlington Seguin. Both teams are undefeated in district so the winner will take the district championship outright. Lovejoy vs Melissa...this is another game that will decide the district champion. Lovejoy only loss of the season came against North Crowley. Melissa remains undefeated but will face it's toughest test of the season. Winner takes the district championship. Can't wait for this one. Denton Ryan vs Justin Northwest...this game will not determine the district championship, but instead will determine who gets 2nd place. Aledo won this district outright. Who would have thought Ryan would be in a battle with Northwest for the district title? NW will give Ryan all they can handle and should be a great game. Other notable games...Ennis needs to win to get in the playoffs. Ennis plays Mansfield Summit this week and MUST have this win to get in.  Lancaster MUST beat Lufkin to get into the playoffs also. This week's games has HUGE implications on playoff seeding.My game of the week is a Duncanville vs Desoto...Both teams come into the game undefeated. The winner of this game will win district outright. Dville beat Desoto lasty 44-17 in downpour of rain. We have rain in the forecast again and that definitely favors Dville. Can Desoto slow down that pass rush of Dville. How will Desoto defense hold up against Dville. Lots of questions we will have answered come Friday night.Allen vs Prosper...Both of these teams will make the playoffs regardless and will be placed in 6A D1 so the game itself isn't about who will make the playoffs. It's about seeding and who you will play in the 1st round.  This game should turn out to be a great one. SLC vs Byron Nelson...This game is for the district championship. SLC beat BN last year and I see the same thing happening this year. Although, I will admit...I think BN will give SLC all they can handle this go around. My game of the week is Euless Trinity vs Crowley...Crowley is undefeated on the season but Trinity has other plans. Trinity normally is the team who owns this district but North Crowley as of late has owned this district. Crowley has NOT played NC yet but Trinity has and they lost. Trinity beating Crowley this will put them in 2nd place. Midlothian vs Lake Belton...This games features two of the best WR's in the nation. Bryant Wesco of Midlothian and Micah Hudson of Lake Belton. There will be fireworks in this game. Wesco is committed to Clemson and Hudson is committed to Texas Tech. Denton Guyer vs Allen...If Allen can win this game, they will be tied for 1st place with Prosper. Allen has been playing very well as of late. Guyer needs this win to keep pace with McKinney and Allen. Prosper already beat Guyer earlier in this year in district.   All these games will have HUGE seeding implications. I'm excited...LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOMy game of the week is Midlothian Heritage vs Ennis...With Ennis being 3-3 and Heritage being 6-0, this game will determine the district championship. Both teams will bring it's A-game, so stay tuned.North Forney vs Rockwall...North Forney was picked to finish last place in district this year. But NF is undefeated at this point and we're all shocked. But we know beating Rockwall will be tough. Interesting game here so tune in.Allen vs McKinney McKinney is undefeated on the season but they haven't played their three toughest opponents yet. That being Prosper, Guyer and Allen. We will find out a lot about McKinney starting this Friday night. If Allen can win this game, people will start mentioning Allen again in regards to winning the district and maybe back to being a perennial power in the state of Texas. We have some MAJOR matchups that will say a lot about some of these teams. But Lake Highlands beat Highland Park this year also. This game could possible be for 2nd place in the district.O. D. Wyatt vs Arlington HeightsWyatt sits atop first place right now in district but it will need to get past Heights first. Denton Ryan had two athletes place 1st and 2nd in the 100 meter and Red Oak won the 4x1 relay. Duncanville placed 2nd in the 4x1 also in 6A. I personally feels like it depends.I think that if you go to a school that gets more state recognition, that it will be easier for a player to be seen or noticed but I'm not saying that you won't get noticed at all. It will be harder getting recruited going to a school that consistently goes 1-9 or 2-8 throughout the year IMO. It's definitely doable but you will have to have something very different about you. Speed, size, etc...but it can happen. That's your child and if you don't want to put your kid in peewee or select, by all means, put them in rec ball. People look down on rec ball but your child can still learn the game and learn new skills along the way. Don't ever let anyone force you into doing something you don't feel comfortable doing.
