The Big Bank Basket fairly flat at $284.41 (). Wealth managers eased back, HUB fell 2.8% with NWL down 3.1% and SOL falling 5.2% on its last day of trade before merger. REITs generally firm with SGP up 0.6% and BWP up 2.2%. Healthcare remains in ICU with CSL falling another 1.6% and RMD down 1.4%. Industrials showed a tinge of green, SGH up 1.1% and ALL bouncing 2.2% after losses last week. In tech stocks, WTC rose 2.9% after Richard White disclosed a sale of a small parcel! XRO continued to trend lower again, down 0.6% with the All-Tech Index up 0.1%. In resources, Chinese data came in weaker than expected, BHP fell 0.6% with gold miners seeing some profit taking after a huge run in the last few weeks. EVN down 5.3% and NST falling 1.9%. GOR issued a production downgrade and fell 0.3%. Lithium stocks perked up, MIN up 3.2% and PLS being squeezed higher again, up 9.1%. VUL had a great run as shorts covered too, up 11.7%. Mixed in uranium with PDN up 1.8% and BOE flying up 7.9%. Oil and gas stocks showing limited gains, STO up 0.9%. In corporate news, EHL raced ahead on bid speculation. Met twee vrouwelijke leidinggevenden: Rina Molenaar, directeur van hulporganisatie Woord en Daad en Jolineke van Dooren, directeur van de Johannes Calvijnschool in Sliedrecht. Vrouwen die leiding geven – daar zijn we in Nederland wel zo'n beetje aan gewend. Maar waar dat nog steeds lastig kan liggen, is in de reformatorische wereld. Want hoort dat wel: een hoge maatschappelijke positie innemen als vrouw, en zeker als getrouwde vrouw? Past dat wel bij je roeping, en het plan dat God met je heeft?Dominee Maarten Klaassen bracht het thema opnieuw onder de aandacht: mannen zijn geroepen om leiding te geven. De ware roeping van vrouwen ligt in het gezin en in het dienen van hun man. Voor Rina en Jolineke is het geen vraag: vrouwen kunnen in het maatschappelijk leven gewoon leiding geven. Jolineke heeft de boeken van Maarten Klaassen gelezen. ‘Ik heb mij nooit afgevraagd of ik dit werk als vrouw kon doen. Wel of het te combineren is met mijn gezin, maar die vraag stelt mijn man zich ook.' Voor Rina is het een discussie die ver van haar afstaat. ‘Typisch Nederlands.'Beide vrouwen gaan niet de barricade op voor gelijke behandeling van mannen en vrouwen. ‘Misschien komt dat ook doordat wij er in de praktijk weinig last van hebben.' Insurers firmed, ASX fell 2.1%, and ZIP soared 20.2% on better results. REITs were under pressure as GMG fell 4.8% on broker comments, SGP and CHC both better. Industrials slid, BXB saw some profit-taking, QAN dropped 2.1%, and ALL off 1.7%.Retail stocks also eased back, PMV down 4.0% and JBH falling 1.6%. GYG collapsed 18.2% after the results and a trading update. CTD in a trading halt awaiting some material news. Tech stocks eased back too, WTC down 1.8% and XRO continuing to fade. Down 0.6%. The All-Tech Index up 0.2%. WOW and COL under pressure. CSL resumed the downward momentum, off 4.2% as TLX trundled higher.In resources, BHP slightly lower, RIO fell 1.1%, and gold miners were mixed. WAF up 3.3% and VAU up again post results. Lithium stocks fell, PLS down 4.5% and MIN off 3.2%. Uranium stocks better, PDN up 4.3% and DYL rising 3.8%. Oil and gas firmed, coal stocks eased.In corporate news, ING dropped 20.3% as Woolies contract took its toll, HLS rallied 18.6% after results, AX1 dived 17.8% on disappointing sales growth, MVF fell 13.7% on disappointing profits and outlook.Nothing much on the economic front.Asian markets mixed again, Japan flat, China up 1.7% and HK up 0.5%European markets opening flat. Some crackers today and, once again, plenty of volatility — even intraday.Banks provided the groundwork with CBA up 0.8% and ANZ again doing very well, up 1.5%, with the Big Bank Basket rising to $288.84 (1.0%). MQG had a good day, and financials generally did well. NWL was volatile post-results, down 0.6%, with GQG spurting 4.9% higher. ZIP also did well ahead of results tomorrow, up 2.6%.Insurers slipped a little, REITs firmed, SGP up 3.6% and SCG rising 1.3%. Industrials were firm too, TLS up 0.8% with WES running 2.5% higher. WOW and COL had good days as well, and BXB shot the lights out with results up 13.2%. CSL found bargain hunters up 2.4%. SHL smashed on results down 12.8%.Retailers continued to find favour, SUL hit record highs, up 12.3%. NCK gained 2.5%, and MYR rallied 4.0%. BRG also had a solid post-numbers bounce, up 4.9%.In resource land, BHP was again positive, up 0.7%, with RIO and FMG stronger too. The ASX 200 fell 54 points to 8,827 (-0.6%). Not a bad day considering, CBA was smacked 5.4% on a solid but uninspiring result, with valuations already too stretched to be just “in line.” The fall; accounted for around 50 index points. The Big Bank Basket fell to $273.05 (-4.0%) with ANZ outperforming on catch-up. Other financials slid, QBE down 1.5% as IAG dipped 0.1% on a slight beat on results, ASX down 2.4% and GQG slipping 2.3% lower again.REITs rose slightly, SCG up 0.3% and SGP up 0.5%. Healthcare was better with CSL up 2%, seeing inflows as CBA fell. TLX rose 2.7% in a rare up day recently. Industrials were flat, dominated by results — CPU hit 3.8% on broker downgrades post-results. BXB bounced slightly, SGH held after the rout yesterday.Retailers were in the green, APE up 3.1% and TPW rising 1.5%. LNW had a good day, up 3.0%, and FLT up 1.2%. GYG came under some pressure, currently down another 3.7%.In resources, lithium stocks saw the shorts return, LTR down 4.4% and PLS off 6.6%. Iron ore stocks firmed again — BHP up 1.1% and FMG up 1.4%. LYC rose 3.2% and EVN up 3.9% on better-than-expected results and an increase in dividend. Other golds did OK too, NST up 1.1% and GMD rising 3.2%. Oil and gas stocks slipped, BPT down 7.6% and KAR off 3.8%.
