Het basispakket in de zorg is opeens een belangrijk discussiepunt in de verkiezingscampagne. Zes partijen (VVD, D66, SGP, ChristenUnie, Volt en JA21) kiezen er in hun partijprogramma voor dat ze het basispakket structureel bevriezen. En volgens GroenLinks-PvdA-leider Frans Timmermans zijn ze daar niet allemaal eerlijk over.  Gezondheidsredacteur Sander Zurhake legt in deze podcast uit wat dat betekent: een bevriezing van het pakket. En wie er eigenlijk over gaat.  Hij noemt het in dat opzicht een vreemde discussie, want op dit moment gaat de politiek grotendeels niet over het basispakket. Zorgverzekeraars en artsen wel. En dat is een gevolg van een grote stelselhervorming die juist onder leiding van de VVD en D66 in 2006 is doorgevoerd en die in 2008 van kracht is gegaan.  Reageren? In deze aflevering veel aandacht voor de vergrijzing. De 65plussers vermenigvuldigen zich als konijnen, maar in bijna geen enkel verkiezingsprogramma wordt hier aandacht aan besteed. Zonde want het is een duur gezelschap waar je beter de vruchten van kunt plukken. En het gaat helaas alweer over abortus. Een motie van de SGP waarin staat dat Nederland zich actief gaat verzetten tegen pogingen abortus als mensenrecht op te nemen in Europese verdragen is aangenomen. Studenten tot 25 jaar krijgen een gratis krantenabonnement. Is dit klantenbinding of heeft het een maatschappelijke betekenis?Hadassah presenteerde de uitreiking van de Omarmprijs. Een prijs voor initiatieven die zich inzetten om armoede en kansenongelijkheid in de stad te bestrijden. Op die middag was de verharding van de maatschappij even heel ver weg. In Vroeger & Nu gaat het n.a.v de documentaireserie Fortuyn: On-Hollands, over de opkomst van Pim Fortuyn . Het lijkt of er sindsdien behoefte is aan een ander soort politicus, en vooral aan een andere toon. Ook vanuit de media.En waarom is slechts een derde van degenen op wie we kunnen stemmen een vrouw? Frans Timmermans wordt uitgescholden in Amsterdam. Hij besluit aangifte te doen. Dilan Yesilgöz van de VVD is een kat in het nauw: zij wil niet meer in kabinet wanneer diezelfde Timmermans premier wordt. Kritiek op Eva Jinek na ondervraging van Chris Stoffer van de SGP over abortus. En: oud-hoofdredacteur DWDD, Dieuwke Wynia doet boekje open over VARA directie. Te gast is Derk Boswijk, nummer 3 op de CDA-lijst en ‘misschien wel het meest behoudende CDA-Kamerlid'. Hoewel hij in een SGP-bubbel leeft, kiest Derk principieel voor het CDA. Waarom? Daarvoor vertelt hij het bijbelverhaal van de profeet Elia en stalmeester Obadja (1 Koningen 18). Voor Derk is de zondag heilig. Liefst twee keer naar de kerk in zijn hervormde gemeente, en geen mediaoptredens. ‘Als Buitenhof belt, kom ik niet.' Derk heeft liever een orgel en psalmen (en een handvol oude, vertrouwde gezangen) dan Opwekkingsliederen, en als mensen hem na de dienst aanschieten, neemt hij bewust de tijd. ‘Ook al heb ik er niet altijd zin in.' Anders dan zijn partijleider Henri Bontenbal gelooft Derk wel dat bidden voor ‘onbenullige dingen' zin heeft. Voor Nederland bidt hij veel om ‘saaie politiek'. Want de polarisatie baart hem ernstig zorgen. Hoewel zeer gelovig en kerkgaand mijdt Derk liever het avondmaal. Want is hij daarvoor goed genoeg? ‘Dat is wel een worsteling.'

Hij volgde twee jaar geleden Kees van der Staaij op als SGP-leider, en heeft iets meer van ‘de beuk erin'. Geloof is ‘alles' voor Chris Stoffer (51), en aan zijn zondagsrust moet je niet komen. ‘Hooguit kijk ik één of twee keer op mijn telefoon.' Wat beweegt hem, en wat betekende het vroege overlijden van zijn moeder voor zijn geloof? Erop vertrouwen dat God ook van jou houdt, spreekt niet vanzelf in Chris' Gereformeerde Gemeenten in Nederland. Toch vond hij zekerheid, in het verhaal van Jezus die tegen de zondares sprak: Uw zonden zijn u vergeven (Lukas 7). Waarom neemt hij in zijn Elspeetse gemeente dan toch niet deel aan het Avondmaal? ‘Dat zijn lastige zondagen.' Ook doordeweeks in Den Haag gaat Chris als hij kan naar de kerk: naar de Vrije Oud-Gereformeerde Gemeente van Den Haag, waar veel verschillende reformatorische dominees preken. Chris wil breed kijken, maar voelt zich diep van binnen nog het meest ‘klassiek hervormd'. Verder: hoe verbindt de SGP-leider zijn geloof aan praktische politiek? Wat betekent dat voor de SGP-opstelling rond Israël en Gaza? En hoe kijken zijn drie dochters aan tegen het vrouwenstandpunt van zijn partij? In aanloop naar de verkiezingen op 29 oktober duiken Dick & Daniël drie keer in de politiek en gaan ze met een christelijke politicus in gesprek over geloof, kerk en het christelijk leven. Für Trump war die Sache klar: Einige Online-Posts des 22-jährigen deuten auf einen Linken, der Hass gegen Konservative pflegt. Das blieb nicht ohne Widerspruch. Besonders originell: Linke Blogger bezeichneten den Robinson als Ultra-Rechten. Dem war Charlie Kirk nicht „rechts“ genug – und deshalb griff er zur Waffe. Wieder andere Kommentatoren halten das Verbrechen für einen „Brainrot-Mord“. Gemeint ist damit eine „völlig sinnentleerte“ Tat, wie der Joker sie in „The Dark Knight“ vorspielte.Bereits am letzten Montag kündigte US-Präsident Trump Konsequenzen an. Die Antifa sei eine „kranke, gefährliche, radikal linke Katastrophe“. Daher plane er ihre Einstufung als „terroristische Organisation“. Außerdem werde er„dringend empfehlen, dass diejenigen, die die Antifa finanzieren, im Einklang mit den höchsten rechtlichen Standards und Praktiken gründlich untersucht werden.“Bei der Gelegenheit kritisierte US-Vize-Präsident J.D. Vance die „großzügige steuerliche Behandlung“, die linke NGOs in den USA genössen. The Big Bank Basket fairly flat at $284.41 (). Wealth managers eased back, HUB fell 2.8% with NWL down 3.1% and SOL falling 5.2% on its last day of trade before merger. REITs generally firm with SGP up 0.6% and BWP up 2.2%. Healthcare remains in ICU with CSL falling another 1.6% and RMD down 1.4%. Industrials showed a tinge of green, SGH up 1.1% and ALL bouncing 2.2% after losses last week. In tech stocks, WTC rose 2.9% after Richard White disclosed a sale of a small parcel! XRO continued to trend lower again, down 0.6% with the All-Tech Index up 0.1%. In resources, Chinese data came in weaker than expected, BHP fell 0.6% with gold miners seeing some profit taking after a huge run in the last few weeks. EVN down 5.3% and NST falling 1.9%. GOR issued a production downgrade and fell 0.3%. Lithium stocks perked up, MIN up 3.2% and PLS being squeezed higher again, up 9.1%. VUL had a great run as shorts covered too, up 11.7%. Mixed in uranium with PDN up 1.8% and BOE flying up 7.9%. Oil and gas stocks showing limited gains, STO up 0.9%. In corporate news, EHL raced ahead on bid speculation. BUB has a new Chair. Nothing on the economic front locally. Chinese data came in weaker than expected prompting hopers of more stimulus.
