On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are trying our damnedest to remember all the things we keep forgetting each day. We're talking about the Peter Segal film from 2004, 50 First Dates.I'm sure we've all got some first dates that we'd really like to forget. The food could have made us sick. Our date was embarrassingly rude to the waiter. It ended in a weird bed with someone who grunts a little too much.Suffice it to say, we all wish that we could have those dates that seem like they should be featured at the end of a sappy romcom. Maybe Hugh Grant shows up and everything will finally be okay.Better still, what if you could relive that date hundreds of times over? Wouldn't that be swell? In some ways, it's hard not to envy poor Lucy in this film. You get to spend an exciting first date with your great love over and over!I'd prefer that without the debilitating brain injury. Endless first dates are nice, but not being able to remember anything? It seems like I've written myself into a corner with this dream. Time to find some scientists to figure this out!(Recorded on September 15, 2022)Links to Stuff We Mentioned:50 First Dates - The Movie Database (TMDB)Punch-Drunk Love (2002) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Uncut Gems (2019) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Jack and Jill (2011) — The Movie Database (TMDB)I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Billy Madison (1995) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Happy Gilmore (1996) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Waterboy (1998) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Wedding Singer (1998) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Big Daddy (1999) — The Movie Database (TMDB)That's My Boy (2012) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Pixels (2015) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Kevin James — The Movie Database (TMDB)Blake Clark — The Movie Database (TMDB)Sean Astin — The Movie Database (TMDB)Boy Meets World (TV Series 1993–2000) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Sixth Sense (1999) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Tommy Boy (1995) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Hubie Halloween (2020) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh (2018) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Office (TV Series 2005–2013) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Hitch (2005) — The Movie Database (TMDB)

A brief pallet cleanser this week as we revisit one of my nostalgic favorites, 50 First Dates. Is the Adam Sandler comedy just another Happy Madison film? Or is there more to appreciate in a logline this rich? Covering everything from plot structure to Ten Second Tom, we aim to answer the age old question: is it really a bad movie? www.patreon.com/badmoviescast

Lanchi Dech wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle ever since she was a teenager, but life happened. She was finally able to realize her dream back in 2013 by taking a course with Too Cool Motorcycle School and that was it. She was hooked. Most know her as the Motorcycle Operations Manager – or MOM for those in the know – and is pivotal in keeping the classes running, and helping others realize their dreams. She's physically not a large person but she rides big bikes and does big things and is awesomesauce. Extremely inspiring session on protectionism around relationships and just how deep it goes. The good news is that Spirit can use the same means (relationships) to undo the ego and to release the hidden wound in the mind and to uncover the Light and the Love within. Weekend retreat in Topanga, California Feb. 20-21.
