Le 4 novembre, Marjorie Hache propose une RTL2 Pop-Rock Station percutante, entre énergie brute et curiosité sonore. L'émission s'ouvre avec The Charlatans et leur titre "Deeper and Deeper", issu du nouvel album "We Are Love". Suivent The B-52's, David Bowie pour l'anniversaire de "The Man Who Sold The World", et The Trashmen avec le classique "Surfin' Bird". Les moments forts s'enchaînent : Nine Inch Nails livre "As Alive As You Need Me To Be", extrait de la bande originale du film "Tron Ares", avant Florence + The Machine et "Buckle", coécrit avec Mitski. Burt Reynolds, Dick Dale, Cliff Richard, and fuck me if it isn't Hank Marvin with his red Fender Stratocaster! We talk about surfin' USA, surfin' UK, and surfin' SK. Surfin' UK is problematic because you have to fight the frigid north sea, a frankly terrifying volume of wee beige jobbies bobbing along beside you, and then the disdain and ridicule of your friends! Surfin' SK also has its challenges; namely the sheer amount of time it would take one to get to the damn beach with your surf board!!! This is the last of our mini Kofi run here while Kev is in England. As long as the plane doesn't go down and he doesn't enjoy his three weak pod break too much, we'll be back next week with our usual silliness for ya!If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Wonderful Land", or possibly, "Definitely not Regina"The eighteenth installment in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by our pal Al Dudeney; the slinky 50's instrumental rocker, "Wonderful Land" by The Shadows! Get your Hank and your Marvin, slip on those drainpipe trousers and smear a gob of brylcreme in your hair cos it's time to cut a rug!If you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel! This week, Jagged Jungle hands the reins to Jake Sax UK, bringing you nothing but the finest in sax-driven house. At just 18, Jake's already making serious waves on the circuit—and this mix is a masterclass in how sax and house belong together. Expect pure sunshine energy, soaring melodies, and that unmistakable saxophone soul cutting through every drop. From Surfin' Sam's Berlin Sunrise and Bakermat's Baby & Praise Break, to classic anthems like Klingande's Jubel (Nora En Pure Remix), this is a journey through the golden era of sax house with a fresh new edge. Jake layers festival-ready heaters with deep melodic grooves, all tied together by the instrument that defines the genre. Think Ibiza sunsets, rooftop parties, and the soundtrack to your best summer night. Highlights include Natty Rico & Tropical Tide's Madinina, Gamper & Dadoni's Island in the Sun, and of course, Jayli's own Hey How Are You to close the set on a personal high. This is Jagged Jungle – Sax Edition: a celebration of house music's most uplifting sound. Who has the biggest hands in the NFL? I would never ruin the surprise by telling you while I'm writing the description... How dumb do I sound? Anywho, Moon Mammoth. Cool! So how do I tell you that you are dumb or not as cool as you think you are...? By knowing what the word PEJORATIVE means... Well, I didn't know what it meant either, so you are not alone! Wait... am I alone...? Shoot, it was just me... Kozy has a game he titled JOSH!!! so put your 3-D glasses on, butter up some popcorn, crack your favorite beverage and enjoy this silent film rendition of a newspaper, ya Hippies!
By request from Chris & Val of the Cavern Club, we're playing "Searchin'" by The Coasters! It's a Table-Topper and a Goofy Great with an oompah beat and an amazing vocal performance by Billy Guy - what else do you want? On New Year's Day 1962, The Beatles recorded a version that wasn't released for years and that's because it stinks! Isn't the story that they honed their sound in the dirty clubs of Germany? They musta had too much NYE grog because you can't hear it here ... Next up is The Hollies who do a decent British Invasion verzh but it doesn't have the fairy dust it needs. Back to the States for Dick Dale's "Surfin'" - yes it's an adaptation but it doesn't really shoot the curl. Paul Revere & The Raiders's rendition leaves out the Mountie which might be a statement? Neal Ford & The Fanatics offer a subdued take that goes double-time, "Shout"-style at the end. Is 7 the lucky number? No! It's a 1968 (shudder!) track by The Tow-Away Zone and the best thing about them is the name ... stick to the original!!!

Rockshow episode special tribute show:Brian WilsonBrian Wilson, born June 20, 1942, in Hawthorne, California, is a legendary American musician, singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the creative force behind The Beach Boys. A musical genius with a gift for harmony and innovation, Wilson helped define the sound of 1960s surf rock before evolving into one of pop music's most groundbreaking artists.Wilson co-founded The Beach Boys with his brothers Carl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. As the band's chief songwriter and producer, he crafted hits like “Surfin' U.S.A.,” “California Girls,” and “Wouldn't It Be Nice.” His masterpiece Pet Sounds (1966) broke new ground with its emotional depth, orchestral arrangements, and studio experimentation—earning critical acclaim and influencing artists like The Beatles.Wilson's career was marked by personal struggles, including battles with mental illness and substance abuse, which sidelined him during key years of the band's success. The abandoned Smile project became legendary among fans for its ambition and mystery, though Wilson eventually completed and released it as a solo album in 2004.Despite hardships, Wilson staged a powerful comeback, releasing solo work and touring extensively. He's been honored with Grammy Awards, an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1988), and the Kennedy Center Honors (2007). His story of brilliance, resilience, and redemption has inspired generations.Brian Wilson remains one of the most revered figures in popular music history, known for his emotional vulnerability, innovative soundscapes, and timeless melodies.https://www.instagram.com/brianwilsonlive?igsh=Y3JpaDE3eWQ5c250https://t.co/ax0hKlf5xPBrian Wilson (@BrianWilsonLive)https://www.brianwilson.com/#BrianWilson #TheBeachBoys#PetSounds #SmileSessions#GoodVibrations #MusicLegend#60sRock #SurfRock#RockAndRollHallOfFame#ClassicRock #MusicalGenius#CaliforniaSound #SongwritingLegend#BrianWilsonLive #BeachBoysForever #InnovatorOfSound #PopMusicIcon#WilsonBrother #StudioWizard#GodOnlyKnows
This week, we're finally diving into the unhinged surf-rock chaos of The Trashmen's “Surfin' Bird”—a Patreon pick that, frankly, we can't believe we haven't covered until now. This 1963 burst of raw energy, stitched together from two Rivingtons songs, has been called everything from a novelty hit to an early blueprint for punk rock. With its unforgettable “bird is the word” hook, the track gained renewed fame decades later thanks to its relentless presence on Family Guy. Jim Logrando and Trevor Leonard are both here to celebrate this gloriously absurd song, so catch a wave and join us for a wild ride through one of the most bizarre hits in rock history. Have you ever stumbled across a website and an hour later realized you're still looking at it because of how much material was available?? That's what happened to us at the ole' AML World Headquarters in downtown Busted Knuckle, Kentucky. Surfin' the internet we stumbled across “Hawkins Rails” one of the most comprehensive railfanning websites you'll ever find. Whether it's mainline railroading or looking for an obscure shoreline you'll most likely find it on Hawkins Rails. Starting with Jack Hawkins in the 1940's it wasn't to many years until his son Ralph started to enjoy standing trackside with his Dad. These days Ralph and his daughter Ella are carrying on the tradition of Hawkins Rails and the site just grows and grows. This is a great podcast with lots of great information about railfanning for the past seventy plus years.

Brian Wilson gave us Good Vibrations, Surfin' U.S.A., and the soundtrack to summer itself. But behind the Beach Boys legend was a man fighting demons most of us can't imagine—hallucinations, trauma, addiction, and mental illness. He didn't quit. He turned pain into purpose, and failure into brilliance. This is The Real Story of Brian Wilson.
Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall.*Inniu an 14ú lá de mhí an Mheithimh. Is mise Niall Ó Cuileagáin.Sheol Uachtarán na Stát Aontaithe Donald Trump comhaltaí de Gharda Náisiúnta agus de mhuirshaighdiúirí na tíre go Los Angeles an tseachtain seo chun dul i ngleic leis na hagóidí sa chathair. Dúirt Gobharnóir an Stáit, Gavin Newsom, go raibh ordú Trump mídhleathach agus gur chruthaigh sé níos mó fadhbanna sa chathair. Caitheadh buidéil agus clocha le póilíní, cuireadh cairr trí thine, agus scaoil na póilíní piléir rubair leis an slua. Thosnaigh an clampar mar fhrithghníomhnú in aghaidh nan-oifigeach inimirce atá ag déanamh ruathar ar inimircigh nach bhfuil na cáipéisí cuí acu. De réir Newsom, bhí Trump ag iarraidh géarchéim a chruthú lena ordú agus nach raibh an t-údarás aige an Garda Náisiúnta a sheoladh go dtí an Stát. Gheall sé godtabharfadh sé cás in éadan an Uachtaráin. Tá ordú cuirfiú i bhfeidhm sa chathair anois thar oíche.Ghabh forsaí míleata Iosrael seilbh ar ghníomhaithe ar son na Palaistíne agus a luamh an ‘Madleen' amach ó chósta Gaza maidin Dé Luain. Bhí na gníomhaithe ag iarraidh soláthairtí bia agus leighis a thabhairt go dtí an Stráice agus aird an domhaina tharraingt ar an ngorta atá ar siúl ansan fé láthair. Bhí an gníomhaí aeráide Greta Thunberg ar an mbád, mar aon leis an bhFeisire de Pharlaimint na hEorpa, Rima Hassan. Ghabh na forsaí míleata seilbh ar an long in uiscí idirnáisiúnta, rud a cháinAmnesty International go géar agus iad ag rá gur scrios forsaí Iosrael an dlí idirnáisiúnta. Dúirt an Tánaiste Simon Harris gur ábhar náireach é agus go raibh an domhan iomlán ag thabhairt neamhaird ar an ngéarchéim dhaonnúil in Gaza. Díbríodh Thunberg agus trí ghníomhaí eile thar n-ais chuig a dtíortha dúchais Dé Máirt; tá na gníomhaithe eile ag cur in aghaidh na n-orduithe díbeartha. Tá an t-amhránaí agus cumadóir amhrán mór le rá Brian Wilson ar shlí na fírinne. Bhí sé ar dhuine de bhunaitheoirí an bhanna ceoil, The Beach Boys, sna seascaidí agus bhí sé ina cheann feadhna ar an ngrúpa ó thaobh an cheoil de. Bhain The BeachBoys cáil amach mar gheall ar a bhfoinn bhinne agus an nasc idir a gceol agus an cultúr surfála, rud atá le clos sna hamhráin ar nós “Surfin' USA', “Surfin' Safari” agus “Surfer Girl”. Is é an t-albam “Pet Sounds” an ceirnín a bhfuil an cháil is mó air, agus,de réir go leor daoine, is é an t-albam is fearr a taifeadadh riamh. D'fhulaing Wilson le fabhanna meabhairshláinte le linn a shaoil, agus de réir a chomhpháirtithe sa ghrúpa, mhéadaigh a úsáid drugaí, go háirithe LSD, a chuid fabhanna. Bhí blianta corracha aige sna seachtóidí agus sna hochtaidí, ach tháinig feabhas ar a shaol arís nuair a phós sé Melinda Ledbetter in 1995 agus chuaigh sé thar n-ais ar camchúirt. Fágann sé oidhreacht ollmhór ar an gceol agus ar an gcultúr den bhfichiú haois.*Léirithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain. In Episode 410 of Friends Talking Nerdy, Professor Aubrey and Tim the Nerd bring listeners an entertaining and eclectic mix of music and movie talk in an episode packed with personality, passion, and plenty of nerdy insight.First up, the duo dive into a thematic musical countdown as they each share and discuss their Top 5 Favorite Songs About Animals. Expect a fun, energetic discussion as they explore a diverse playlist that spans decades and genres. From the primal pop punch of Duran Duran's “Hungry Like the Wolf” and the punk-infused chaos of The Trashmen's “Surfin' Bird,” to the introspective lyricism of The Beatles' “Blackbird” and the surreal surf rock of The B-52s' “Rock Lobster,” the conversation flows freely through musical memories and personal associations. Other notable tracks include the haunting message of “Meat Is Murder” by The Smiths, the raucous rebellion of W.A.S.P.'s “Animal (Fuck Like A Beast),” and the biblical whimsy of Bob Dylan's “Man Gave Names to All the Animals.” Rounding out the playlist are the motivational anthem “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor, Dylan's traditional folk nod “Froggy Went A Courtin',” and the poignant “Free As a Bird” by The Beatles. Check out the playlist on YouTube. In the second half of the episode, Tim the Nerd takes center stage to tackle the latest shake-up in the world of cinema: Amazon's acquisition of EON Productions' stake in the James Bond franchise. Tim offers his analysis on what this means for the future of 007, raising questions about creative control, the potential for expanded Bond content beyond the traditional film format, and the challenges of maintaining the franchise's integrity under corporate influence. Will Bond's mystique survive the streaming era, or are we in for a reinvention of the world's most iconic spy?As always, we wish to thank Christopher Lazarek for his wonderful theme song.
