Today we're going to listen to a conversation between our colleague Lizza Dwoskin and her friend Aisha Bowe, an aerospace engineer who was on the all-female Blue Origin flight that went to space in April. It's about navigating what happens when a dream comes true — and then sparks public outrage. Blue Origin, the space company, is owned by Jeff Bezos. He also owns The Washington Post and is the co-founder of Amazon. Some of the other crew members were celebrities, including pop star Katy Perry and broadcast journalist Gayle King. The flight became a flash point for anger from the political left directed at billionaires associated with the Trump administration. Bezos was among the tech moguls who attended Donald Trump's second inauguration. Now that some time has passed, Aisha was ready to sit down and talk about what this has all been like for her. Today's show was edited by Renita Jablonski, Maggie Penman and James Graff. It was produced and mixed by Ted Muldoon. Subscribe to The Washington Post here.
Well, they fight, they break up, they kiss, they make up. Never before have the lyrics of a Katy Perry song been more relevant to federal politics. After last week’s shock split, this week the Coalition got back together again. But at what cost? What compromises have been made on both sides? And will the Nats and the Libs be able to work constructively together after all the drama? Meanwhile, Labor is moving ahead with plans to hike taxes on super accounts of more than $3 million, and Anthony Albanese hardens his rhetoric on Israel and its killing of civilians in Gaza. Here to discuss all this with host Jacqueline Maley is new chief political correspondent Paul Sakkal, and foreign affairs and national security correspondent Matthew Knott.Subscribe to The Age & SMH: https://subscribe.smh.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Katy Perry and the Blue Origin Launch have recently gone viral, but what's all the fuss about?

French president Emmanuel Macron got bitch slapped by his grooming wife. The Joe Biden books are coming. The FBI lied about the Hunter Biden laptop. Some people are looking fondly upon the murder of a Jewish couple. More support is on it's way. Cryptocurrency crime is on the rise. This time a multi-millionaire kidnapped his business partner and tortured him for his Crypto wallet password. Sports radio beef: Bomani Jones vs Dan Le Batard. Aaron Rodgers was a terrible boyfriend to Danica Patrick. Britney Spears: Britney partied with Diddy before an awful performance. Britney exposed herself. Britney is sorry for smoking a cigarette in a plane. Chrissy Teigen is playing the victim after trying to fix her five head. Kanye West is sorry. The Pee-wee Herman doc is out now on HBO. Drew tarnished the legacy of Captain Kangaroo. Cop Cam: The most annoying DUI possibly ever. George Floyd died 5 years ago. We roll through the biggest WNBA rivalry. The internet hates Katy Perry. Jack Doherty is the worst. Loose lips (the non-talking kind) sink ships. Did Sophie Rain earn enough on OnlyFans to purchase a jet? Meghan Markle pretends to be nice to American Airlines employees. CBS is being sued because Peter Dunn was sacked for calling an anchor “too gay”. Sherri Papini is doubling down tonight on HBO Max. Diddy enjoyed his Memorial Day cookout. Today’s show had it all—from spicy French drama to bras popping off in Vegas. We kicked things off with the now-infamous Brigitte Macron face-push—was it playful, or was she just done with Emmanuel? Then in the Glossys: Selena Gomez multitasks like a queen (Beyoncé and Knicks?), and Katy Perry’s bra had a full-blown malfunction—twice—on stage. The American Music Awards made a chaotic return, but our favourite moment? Shaboozey confusing a 1920s folk band for Beyoncé and Jay-Z. And yes, Swifties are still decoding the Reputation Easter eggs… despite Taylor being a no-show. Plus, Caitlyn Jenner is now charging $4K for a Cameo—because apparently, being an “icon” has a price tag.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Denver-born songwriter, guitarist, singer, activist, and performer Jill Sobule, is possibly best-known because of her breakthrough hit of “I Kissed a Girl” (pre-dating Katy Perry by more a decade), and “Supermodel,” the anthem from the film Clueless. In her over seven albums, the troubadour has "mused on topics such as the death penalty, anorexia, shoplifting, reproduction, the French resistance movement, adolescence and the Christian right." She has also written music for TV and theater, been active in numerous social and political causes, and been a pioneer in the art of crowdfunding. On her 2018 album, Nostalgia Kills, released on her own Pinko Records, the songwriter/composer tackles adult topics, and looks back without sentimentality to “exorcise some junior high school demons.” The late Jill Sobule and her band joined us to perform some of these songs in-studio in 2018. The city of Dallas is considering taking out a $1 billion loan to move forward with the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center project. Staff will brief the City Council Wednesday on the updates to the convention center plan. Also, after sitting through more than two months of auditions, training and performances, American Idol fans were minutes away from finding out the winner of season 23 when WFAA's Chief Meteorologist Pete Delkus appeared on screen shortly before 10 p.m., warning of severe weather — including possible tornadoes, thunderstorms and flash floods — in counties across the region. Frustrated viewers took to social media to express their displeasure; Katy Perry's “Lifetimes” tour stop at American Airlines Center has been moved to Thursday night to accommodate the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers' NHL playoff game; and whatever happened to your favorite Dallas restaurant? North Texas residents shouldn't put their umbrellas away just yet. After rain both Saturday and Sunday, more precipitation is in store for today. There's a potential for some isolated early morning showers, before more severe storm chances return in the afternoon and evening. The showers are most likely to be severe for the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area and the counties to the north and northeast. If thunderstorms do develop, hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will all be possible in the late afternoon. Today's high will be 83 and the low will be 73. In other news, a bipartisan bill with stars Taylor Sheridan, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson behind it, is advancing through the Legislature and may bolster Texas as a formidable filming site. Senate Bill 22 would establish a biennial fund of $500 million for 10 years; Katy Perry had been scheduled to bring her tour to the American Airlines Center Wednesday but the singer will have to find a new date because the venue will be busy hosting the NHL's Game 1 of the Western Conference finals between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers; and Dallas' Scottie Scheffler won the PGA Championship on Sunday. We finally got our hands on the new season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and it was worth the wait. The ladies didn't come to play this season. There was plenty of drama to go around. The new villain of this season was surprising but also not at the same time. Friendships have crumbled others have flourished. Plus it looks like we will be getting more episodes sooner than we think. The Diddy trial is going on now and lets just say that this man deserves the maximum sentencing. Kim Kardashian has been in Paris for her court appearances from her 2016 robbery case. And she made sure she looked better than ever. She is in full glam of course but she was also covered in diamonds. Almost like a nod to the robbers saying she's still here and you didn't phase her. I've been watching the new show Overcompensating and I suggest that you do as well. It's a typical college coming out story but done so well and is hilarious. Cooper Koch is the new face of Calvin Klein and he looks delicious. Chris Brown is being (rightfully) held in prison in the UK for an alleged domestic violence case that happened back in 2023. His tour starts on June 8th but his court hearing isn't until June 13. So sorry to his 3 fans that he won't be able to make his show. Lorde concert tickets went on sale and the demand is high. I guess people have been in a Lorde drought. I went to the Katy Perry concert in Vegas this weekend and it was everything that I wanted. But just 12 hours prior she was with Kim Kardashian in Paris at Lauren Sanchez's bachelorette party. Oh to be a guest at that party. Thanks for listening!
BEST OF: The 2024 MTV VMA was another example of a powerful religious-cult operating through entertainment to influence society. Taylor Swift was awarded Video of the Year, Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year, Katy Perry won the Vanguard Award and performed a gravity defying song, and Megan Thee Stallion performed Mamushi with Yuki Chiba. Swift has stayed in the news for her endorsement of Kamala Harris, and when winning her aware she thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce who may also now be encouraged to endorse Harris - recall other were involved with ERAS-ERIS, the goddess of discord. But Taylor Swift isn't as powerful as she may seem, certainly not to make her own decisions. Not only has she called out the Soros family for stripping her of music rights but most of her music itself is written by someone else. Jack Antonoff was behind ‘Look What You Made Me Do', and countless other songs not to mention his work with Lana Del Rey, Aaron Dessner was behind Willow, and countless other songs, and both Max Martin and his protege Shellback contribute heavily to her discography. People like Martin have been operating in the music industry for decades, writing dozens of hits - 26 Number One hits - for everyone from the Backstreet Boys and Brittany Spears (Hit Me Baby One More Time), to Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Further, he obtains the lyrics and beats through a sort of channeling. Even Elton John does this through mixing word cutouts to write songs. In the world of comics we find an equivalent character in Alan Moore, a magician behind iconic works like V For Vendetta and Watchmen. Moore is also open about his worship of a Greco-Roman snake god named Glycon, a deity of oracle and moneymaking. The difference between obtaining influence from the MUSES or power from unconscious DEMONS is what the byproduct of the contract is: beauty or ugliness. The song Mamushi features the profaning of and degrading not of America but of Japan, as Thee Stallion encourages Japanese girls to be promiscuous and lure men to their death. In the song, Megan literally is naked on a rock like a Siren, in a sacred Onsen, where she then pollutes the purifying water and transforms into a Mamushi snake to kill a man. A 2023 song by Sabrina Carpenter was filmed in a church and her video was so perverse and disgusting the priests had to re-bless the altar when she left. These images are far different than the music, sculptures, and paintings of artists throughout history. Perry's VMA performance featured the arch of hysteria from witchcraft, a portal, and we assume from the other side came an alien who Sabrina Carpenter kissed on television. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements.
