Brittany Rae is a multi-faceted millennial who is an entrepreneur and leader in entertainment. She comes from a legacy of influential people in the music industry but did not let that make her complacent in her journey to becoming a stand-alone force. After graduating from university she started a production company while working for top radio stations. She was a part of the team at Hot 97 that brought the Summer Jam Concert Series, the most popular and successful hip hop concert series of its time. Currently she works with iHeart Radio and puts together impactful events ranging from hip hop music showcases to mental health events for the community. Her production company has presented original plays and sold out events at legendary venues such as the Ailey Theatre. She joins us on the vault to discuss how young black entrepreneurs can protect their mentalhealth and well-being while creating a name for themselves. She discusses how to resist hustle culture so that burnout doesn't happen and she discusses her own struggles and how to heal. What causes High Functioning Depression in young Black entrepreneurs? How can you support loved ones with High Functioning Depression? What are the Risk Factors for High Functioning Depression in millennials? Mother-of-four, Brittany Stokes, is the Co-Founder of Project Orphan and Tulsa Girls Home (TGH). What started as a desire to help young people abroad, through Project Orphan, has grown into a pursuit to assist kids, girls specifically, on a local level, by founding the Tulsa Girls Home. Surprisingly, this remarkable program, that helps girls aging out of foster care, didn't exist prior to her efforts. Both impactful projects are near and dear to her heart as they serve as a resource that changes the narrative for these young kids. Now, locally, young women who are aging out of Foster Care have access to resources and a beautiful, safe place to live even after they age out of foster care. This interview shares more about Brittany's background and journey in starting Tulsa Girls Home. We're delighted to bring you an exclusive reading from the timely and arresting debut novel, In Every Mirror She's Black. Three Black women are linked in unexpected ways to the same influential white man in Stockholm, as they build their new lives in the most open society, run by the most private people. This multi perspective story is told through the lives of Kemi, a successful marketing exec, Brittany-Rae, a former model turned flight attendant, and Muna, a refugee establishing her residency in Sweden. Their stories touch on important social issues surrounding racism, classism, fetishisation, and tokenism, exploring how each of these women uniquely navigates white-dominated society. “Beautifully complex and deftly drawn… a sexy, surprising, searing debut about love, loss, desire, and the many dimensions of Black womanhood.”—Deesha Philyaw Lọlá Ákínmádé Åkerström's In Every Mirror She's Black is published by Head of Zeus and available now. Welcome to a very special #TeamAdults edition of Meta Station! Because this weekend was Erin’s birthday (as I hope you all observed by listening to this outtake - https://soundcloud.com/meta-station/clairin-outtakes-happy-birthday-erin-with-special-guests-sam-britt), she was with family and didn’t have time to record, but because she is a good friend she did NOT want to deprive Claire of the chance to flail over 412’s next-level Kabby content. So instead, Claire was joined by Brittany Rae of The Afictionados (https://soundcloud.com/theafictionadosthe100) and Sam Coley of TellTaleTV (http://www.telltaletv.com/author/samantha-coley/) for a discussion on the core four surviving members of Team Adults, all of whom gave absolutely top-notch performances in 412: Indra, Jaha, Kane and Abby. We covered their storylines in this episode as well as how we feel about their season arcs as a whole and what we want to see from them in Season 5. Join us to flail over Indra mom feels, the return of the Jaha/Kane bromance, ABBY SAYING “I LOVE YOU” TO KANE, epic conflict over moral decision-making, and much more. P.S. If you’re desperate for our thoughts on delinquents in space, we’ll cover the kids’ storyline from this episode next week in our finale recap, but there was a lot of stuff that we weren’t sure how we would feel about until we saw how the arcs closed out at the end of the season. 0:00 – LET'S TALK ABOUT INDRA! Badass Warrior Queen Mom of Our Hearts! 0:35 – LET'S TALK ABOUT JAHA! Ruthless Mofo! Epic Shit-Stirrer! Cult Aficionado Extraordinaire! New Dad Maybe! 1:06 – LET'S TALK ABOUT MARCUS KANE AND ABBY GRIFFIN! Moral quandaries! Parent feels! Leadership conundrums! Possible brain damage! TRUE LOVE!

Welcome back to Meta Station! We’re back from the magnificently delirious weekend of nerd fun which was Unity Days 2017, and we’re here to tell you all about it! Joining us are special guests Brittany Rae and Robyn Jeffrey (formerly of The Giantist, now co-hosts of the Afictionados podcast network) and Sam Coley of TellTaleTV, who – along with The Dropship’s Jo Garfein – were our fellow panelists for the Unity Days Friday night Meta Panel, where we answered fan-submitted questions and meta prompts about the show. For those of you who missed the fun live, we’ll recap our weekend experience, from the best questions we got at the panel to our favorite cast member encounters to the most exciting season 4 tidbits we picked up along the way. We also got way too many meta questions submitted to answer live at the panel, so we’re recreating the magic here and answering a few more of our favorites on air that we weren’t able to get to at Unity Days, discussing everything from Hogwarts to My Little Ponies. And stay tuned at the end of the podcast to hear our post-Unity Days conversation with Caitlin Walsh and Kelsey Juntwait of Talk Nerdy With Us, recorded in our hotel room right after the con ended, with more fun stories about cast encounters and nerdy fun. Thanks so much to Leana Santos, Miah Bannerman, the whole staff and volunteers of Unity Days, and of course the amazing cast of “The 100” for a totally amazing weekend we will never forget! We’re even more hyped for S4 than we were before!
