Smartphones are “digital fentanyl,” says Clare Morell, author of “The Tech Exit: A Practical Guide to Freeing Kids and Teens from Smartphones.” Studies show that a child's phone or tablet usage directly affects his or her brain development and “hinders their ability to self-regulate their own emotions, to develop self-control, and impulse control,” Morell says. Consuming digital content, especially social media, is designed to cause a release of dopamine and causes kids to increasingly live in the “limbic part of their brain, which is their social-reward kind of processing center, and it is leading to the underdevelopment of their prefrontal cortex.” The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that is responsible for self-control, regulating emotions, and critical thinking. As more knowledge about the effect of social media on the brain becomes known, some families are choosing to ditch smartphones altogether. have decided to wait to give their children smartphones until they are adults, and to provide a road map for how other families can join the growing trend. Also on today's show, we take a moment to remember the lives lost to the flash flooding in Texas. Plus, we discuss Elon Musk's proposed America Party and a Gen Z trend known as “micro-retirements.” Subscribe to The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tony-kinnett-cast/id1714879044 Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. Charlize Theron was recently a guest on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper. She made big news talking about her sex life but I was much more interested in Charlize pretending that Alex's traumatic childhood is equal to hers. The fact that Alex went along with that tells me she's a total narcissist. Adam Busch was checking in on Rob Saul again and he's back to the same insults that have never made sense. Brendan Schaub might actually not be liable in the new lolsuit that he was served by his former partner at that dumb CBD company. He should be sued for the promo videos he made. 2 Bears 1 Cave is taking the summer off but instead of doing it like Stern, they're going to let much more able comics take over for a couple of months… what could go wrong? Opie had to get a new phone and the result was a complete psychotic break from reality. He also announces a brand new podcast. Hey Lifers, If you happen to hear any mic bumps or mouth sounds today, please message Britt Hockley directly. Laura and Keeshia are taking a stand against Britt’s anti-podcast-establishment trial.Ben has gone home and Britt’s now in the first chapter of their long distance marriage. We speak about how ‘different’ our relationships feel pre and post marriage. Both Delilah and Matt had birthdays over the weekend except Laura almost forgot. After having a crack at Matt last week for not realising how far along Laura’s pregnancy was, Laura had some making up to do!Is it a ‘flex’ to sleep with a younger person? Charlize Theron was on the Call Her Daddy podcast last week promoting her new movie ‘the old guard 2’. Charlize is 49, a mother of two, an Oscar-winner, and basically Hollywood royalty. When Alex Cooper asked her if she had any sex tips, she responded saying that she’d recently slept with a 26 year old and it was great!Naturally, the internet had thoughts. Some people were cheering her on for owning her sexuality, others were very uncomfortable. We ask if it’s a double standard because “if men did this, we’d be up in arms” and whether we are okay with that double standard or not. Jenna Bush Hager revealed that her mom Laura Bush was a counselor at the camp that was destroyed ----- Scarlett Johansson has just been named the highest-grossing lead actor ----- Alex Cooper from the "Call Her Daddy" podcast got booed for her rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at a Cubs game
Charlize Theron annoyingly joined Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy, Texas floods killed over 100, Pearl Jam member exits, JLo embarrassingly heads to Europe, the saga of Andy Green, and the BBL smell test. Jim Bentley does not have a bobblehead on his desk, but can he make a 45 yard FG? Andy Green continues his tour around NYC and is now sponsored, but not by us. Chicago Cubs fans rightfully hate Alex Cooper for turning Take Me Out to the Ballgame into a skit Charlize Theron recently popped up on Call Her Daddy. Coop other grift is selling female Prime. Kristin Cavallari hates her father as much as Meghan Markle hates Thomas. Thomas Markle is dying ASAP. Queen Elizabeth did NOT want their brat named after her. Suits wanted to reboot, but Markle is too big to participate. This woman crashed pretty hard during her rendition of the National Anthem. Pearl Jam's drummer, Matt Cameron, hangs up the drumsticks. OnlyFans ‘star' Denise Richards is getting a divorce. 16 and Pregnant ‘star' Whitney Purvis arrested. The Texas floods are devastating. Sade Perkins is being a bitch about it. Rosie O'Donnell blames the floods on Donald Trump. A Michigan man in Texas was taken out by Border Patrol. Not too far away an officer was shot at an immigration detention center. Nancy Mace vs Tim Walz. Joe Biden's doctor is set to be grilled in congress. The books keep dropping on Joe. JLo still wants you to bang her. She's touring in Europe and ticket sales aren't that great. Ben Affleck is worried about the next man in Jennifer's life, Brett Goldstein. Big booties mean big stinky butts. Scarlet Black has a smelly behind. Sam Asghari has ghosted Britney Spears… since they are divorced. Former USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin is the latest Dallas Cowboy in trouble. Marijuana may hurt the liver. Tom Mazawey has entered the Home Plate Club before Drew. Kate Phillips is destroying the female cycling competition… cause she's a guy. Our mental health crisis isn't mysterious - it's the predictable result of systematic cultural programming designed to keep us medicated, divided, and compliant. Dr. Roger McFillin conducts a disturbing deep-dive investigation into America's most popular cultural content to uncover the hidden forces driving our unprecedented mental health epidemic. His shocking discoveries include the Call Her Daddy podcast, where thousands of teenage girls celebrate STDs as feminist achievements, and mainstream media outlets that casually normalize genocide and mass violence as dinner table conversation. Dr. McFillin exposes what he believes is a coordinated three-phase assault on human psychological well-being: first, destroy healthy models of self-worth; second, desensitize the population to violence and dehumanization through media conditioning; and finally, capture these wounded souls through pharmaceutical dependency disguised as healthcare. The solution isn't more pills or endless therapy sessions - it's awakening to these toxic cultural narratives and choosing to resist them. Because once you see the programming, you cannot unsee it. Why do women turn on each other? This important question was posed in a recent Substack article, which addressed what Jodi has been wondering for a long time: Is it envy? Fear? Competition? Patriarchy? All of the above? Regardless of the underlying reasons, we might catch ourselves dismissively believing 'there's just something about her that bothers me' (which then allows us to avoid those underlying reasons and blame the other person). In this episode, Jodi and her friend, Brooke, talk more about all of this. They also discuss the documentary, Call Her Alex, and the aforementioned Substack article by Women Are The Medicine. In this solo episode of Sexual Assault Survivor Stories (The SASS Podcast), host Dave Markel takes the mic alone to deliver a powerful, reflective, and informative monologue. While there's no guest again this week, the episode is anything but empty. Instead, it offers a thoughtful exploration of recent survivor stories making headlines, along with an in-depth look at survivor-led advocacy, cultural change, and resources for healing. Dave begins by spotlighting three courageous individuals: Alex Cooper, host of Call Her Daddy, who recently spoke out about the harassment she endured as a Division I athlete at Boston University; Tina Johnson, a Roy Moore accuser whose home was destroyed under suspicious circumstances after she came forward; and Nicky Campbell, a UK broadcaster whose disclosure of childhood abuse sparked a wave of similar testimonies from others silenced for decades. Each of these stories reveals the complex layers of trauma—ranging from institutional betrayal to physical triggers—and illustrates how public disclosures can ignite change and connection. The episode also honors the work of prominent survivor-advocates like Amanda Nguyen, founder of , who authored the Sexual Assault Survivors' Rights Act (passed unanimously by Congress in 2016). Nguyen's legislation has inspired over 67 similar laws across the U.S., while her global What Were You Wearing? exhibits continue to dismantle victim-blaming narratives in powerful and public ways. Also highlighted is Chanel Miller, formerly known as “Emily Doe” in the Brock Turner case, whose viral victim impact statement and bestselling memoir, Know My Name, redefined the survivor's voice in modern discourse. This episode closes by offering a collection of vital resources for survivors. If you or someone you know is in need of support, please reach out: · – 24/7 hotline: 800-656-HOPE · – Support specifically for male survivors · – Education and national hotline for harassment survivors · – Survivor-led legislative training and advocacy · Even without a traditional interview, this episode is filled with substance, reflection, and a deep commitment to the healing process. It's a powerful reminder that survivor stories don't stop when the mic does—and that advocacy can take many forms, including quiet reflection. This one is for every voice that hasn't been heard yet—and every listener who's ready to believe, support, and speak up. An important side note: if you're finding value in these episodes, please take a moment to leave a 5-star rating on your podcast platform. AND, please send me a note of support. On another note: I am a strong advocate and supporter of Survivor School (SS), founded and directed by CEO Arci Grey (another former guest on SASS). In fact, Arci has made me a consultant to SS as she maneuvers the intricacies of directing and managing the content and growth of her amazing organization.
