Today's Pod features 3 generations of Gopher Student Athletic workers. Brehz, Ben and Myself relive days of glory. LOL!  We all had different roles in the dept at different times, but we all have great experience's. From the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's, we all learned about working in college athletics and pain of being involved in Gopher Athletics. The 3 of us chatted our roles and what time that we worked there. We discussed the our opinions of where college sports land has change, where it is now and where it is going in the future. We talked about the major turn around of Indiana Football and could it  happen at other schools like Minnesota. What's the cost to have it happen if you've been a loser for so long. We laughed about Minnesota continue to not get it right and just be mediocre.  We moved our discussion to the CFP and what we  think is right and wrong about the sports biggest tourney and prize. What can college do to get better at over coming the issue that administrators now face. Lastly, we deal with Opt  Outs, Coaches, A.D.'s and players are now opting out of season play. Why are losing team being ask to fill spots. The story behind the scene that is not being fully explained by college leaders. It's ugly and they don't have a way to get ahold of it. I began the episode with talking about the topic of David Potnouy is not being allowed inside B1G stadiums, even though he is working for B1G NOON kick off. I ha e my thoughts on the matter. My guest is 5 times All American former Gopher Track star Goaner Deng. He has quite the story to tell about his life from South Sudan to the U.S., to MN to the U. of MN track team and major success on and off the track. We discuss his first days in the U.S. and his first days in Minnesota. How coped with the change in life style. We chatted about falling in love with the sport of Track and how he landed on the Gopher Track team. Once on the team how it added structure to his life and the people who played a part n his success at the U. of MN. We talked about about today's college sports landscape and would want to be a part of it. After an unsuccessful attempt at recording early Tuesday morning the MSF Podcast crew was back at it for episode 32. It isn’t always easy but we grind it out for you guys. But enough about our heroism, it was a big weekend.We start with the Gopher football team, who finally brought Paul Bunyan’s Axe back to Minneapolis after 15 years of building up layers of cheese dust (not the good kind created by eating too many cheese balls — it’s more of a layer of a dust-type mold that smells like framented cheese).The victory completely changes the narrative of the offseason for PJ Fleck and his young football team.The Vikings also won a big game vs a disgusting Wisconsin team. But, it’s far from celebration time at US Bank Stadium. In a jammed up NFC, the Vikings need to win some tough games to guarantee their playoff hopes and dreams.We talk about what it’ll take.It starts with a win in Foxborough this Sunday afternoon vs the legendary New England Patriots. Can the Vikings upset Brady and Belechick?
