The show by answering questions from a regular listener (okay my sister Charlotte) who wanted to know if "EDUCATION" still has a place in todays world of college sports. A very good question, with many tentacles. In the 2nd half of the show I had conversation with a good friend from my college days. Pete Najarian Reached out to me 2 weeks ago to inform me that he has had two interviews for the "NEW" position in college sports, the General Manager. We finally connected and we had great conversation on the topic. The insights that Pete gave us will answer most question on the position, but may leave you with more. Arsenio Hall used to have a segment on his show, things that make you go hmm! This episode of my podcast is filled news that make you go HMM & SIGH!. The State of Tennessee is at it again, didn't the Nico saga teach them anything? listen and find out. Old Bill Bellechoak/Blellecheck is still making news the wrong way. A key piece of evidence was laid out before our eyes in the Tom Brady roast and we all missed it. Plus, Bill got UNC to do something that no other football coach could do before. A deal has made for the 2025 CFP and I explain all the fallout and power grabbing going on in it's wake. The are a lot tentacles on this monster. Judge Wilkins remain silent and there was no new news of her ratifying the House case. All the big new reports were expecting a Friday news dump from her office. They got silence. More change in the ways college sports are govern, this does not effect FB or BB. Lastly, find out why the busy body at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue back off his power move on college sports. The sitting President of the United States decided to poke his nose in the business of college athletics. He threatened to take action and then named committee. Listen to hear what all the fuss was about and where could it take us. The House continue to take up time and space in our hearts, minds and worlds. Judge Wilkens has bent over backwards to give proper guidance on roster limits to the member institutions(the schools) that make up the NCAA. She have given more than hints. Judge Wilkins has given a road map to the schools and their leadership on how to get her to approve the House case settlement. On the other hand the schools and their leadership have to decided to play a game of chicken with Judge Wilkins and basically stated, no thanks, we will continue to do things as we see fit when comes to roster limits. If they don't do what she wants, things could get very messy for the school and very costly. The next week or so could be interesting for the smaller schools who don't want to pay their athletes , but would "NOT" be able stay alive if they lose in court. Remember these are the school that always voted to keep the amateurism model, not the Power 4 schools. If Judge Wilkins re-opens the House case, it's going to be a blood bath. So, why are these School leaders want to play a game of chicken with Judge Wilkens. The Power 4 commissioners met late week to discuss the future the format of the College football playoffs. In 2026 a new contact for the playoffs will change and more money can be earned. The B1G and SEC will have control of playoffs. How many teams, how they will selected and how teams are seed will under the control of the new format. The playoff committee role will change and lose some control of the format and team selection under a plan purposed by the B1G/SEC. If the purposed 16 team playoff is put in place, it will lead to a ton changes in the regular season and the post season. How they money will flow to conferences. There would be a new wrinkle in conference championship week-end. I tell you all the little details known and under the hat of the B1G and the SEC that will lead to more money in their pockets. How for reaching are these plans? You will learn in this episode of the podcast. I began today's show with some notes and antidots. First of all my comments on the on the west coast teams traveling so much or are they? The anger black man came out in my response to all the whining that's going on from the people out west and those not in the know. Next, the Iamaleva saga continue with a couple of new twist. Nico's little brother, Madden is the star of the latest mess the family had cooked up. The NFL draft is something that I have on in background on day one and if there is an interesting the next two days I may track it. This years story of the draft was a car wreck. I describe in one word long before Stephen A .Smith did so. Listen to find out the one word answer give for the draft. Lastly, I finish the show why the House Case settlement is in jeopardy, who's to blame and why are the bad faith actors behaving the way the they are responding to Judge Wilkins( yes, that's her in the photo) strong suggestion and now her threat to the leaders of college athletics. I'm not talking about the NCAA.(the small office in Indy) It's clearly the eggheads in charge of college sports. The school Presidents, Boards of Regents, Chancellors, Conference Commissioners and Athletic Directors. At the end of the show I explain why they are acting in bad faith with the terms of the settlement and what are they trying to gain by digging their heels in and openly disobeying the judge's suggestions and now warning on the topic of roster limits. It's pretty simple why they are doing it. I started Todays show with some updates on the Spring Transfer Portal. Also, I talked about the landing spot for former Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleva. Plus, I drop some bombs of knowledge. Later, I'm join by todays guest Mike Bryant. Yes, title sponsor Mike Bryant of Bradshaw and Bryant Law firm. I wanted to have Mike on to ask him how he sees the landscape of college sports through his legal eyes. We discuss many different aspects of the house case and the future of NIL. Well, April 7th came and went with no ratification of the house case settlement. We were told 6+ months ago, that Judge Wilkins was going to put an end to this round of law suits and bring some clarity to college sports with her signing of on the House case settlement. We were all waiting with baited breath for the April 7th. She didn't deliver the guidance and peace we all sought. Matter of fact she added more fuel to the fire and pushed back on one the key components of the college leaderships for the future of college sports. I will tell you what push back was and the other details from the nothing burger , that was April 7th. I finish with a new story in college sports. Something we see pro sports every day. I'll inform how this young college athlete and his parent chose to handle things and what the school's response to their actions. I started with the celebration of April 7th eve. What is April 7th eve? April 7th supposed is the day that will college sports forever, for now. Judge is to ratify the House/Carter/Hubbard cases. That is suppose to give direction to colleges on how to handle college from this point on. Lets face it, this will change little to nothing, as more litigation is on the way. I caught up with an old friend who once was a student basketball manager at the U. of MN under Clem "The Gem" Haskins. Brehz gave an interesting look into Gopher basketball history. He work with new Gopher basketball Head Coach Niko Medved as student managers. Brehz could give you some insights on what Coach Medved led program may offer us Gopher fans and alumni. Brehz and I finished our discussion with his thoughts on the land scape of college sports, as someone who helps coaching staffs at the high school level and officiates high school games. Todays episode was going to be on how the NBA and some of their stars are play a role in college NIL and Revenue sharing. I discussed the highlights ,but the show takes a turn that will anger some that I discuss the topic. Others will be good with fact that I chose to shine a light on topic. The firing of Ben Johnson clearly shows some warts of the Gopher Athletic Program. There will be heat on your host and he is ready for all the smoke. I zeroed in on one person and person alone, for the downward turn of the entire program. The Atlantic Coast Conference may have found peace in these times. The law suits between FSU/Clemson vs the ACC have been dropped. Get the details on what brought about the ACC and it's playing nice and for how long. What effects could the ACC peace mean for the B1G, Big XII and SEC. With April 7th coming fast, why some starting to change their minds about the House case settlement. What this settlement will and will provide for the member institutions of the NCAA. Why do some people believe that athletes should not have to pay state tax on their new found riches? I don't know, their are a lot of states trying to gain a recruiting advantage by having their local reps make that possible. The tone of the nations politics are stating to bubble up into college sports. The have(B1G and SEC) want even more of the wealth and opportunities from the CFP and they met recently to discuss how they plan to do so. They want to take away money and opportunities from the other poorer conferences and control more of the power. The other 2 power 4 conference maybe helpless to stop them. At the end of this podcast I tell who maybe can stop the B1G/SEC. My answer may surprise you and why they have to. Speaking of taking away opportunities of college athletes is happening at the Government level also. The state of Texas legislators are pushing forth legislation to limit scholarships to international athletes. Why are they doing so? I lay out some thoughts and stats on the subject. This episode starts off a little different with me discussing some topics before a commercial break. I lean into the topic of Title IX being under attack by new Federal administration. For now it's just a memo. Then I talk about the death of Spring football -"SPRING GAMES". A lot of people love them and I'm here to tell you why they are going by the waste side. I also, wonder if if it will affect other sports alternate practice seasons. I finish this segment with a look into meeting that is happening between B1G and the SEC on what there next move is to flex their new found power and control of the CFP. After the break I'm join by today's guest Mike Burns the Head Coach of the Men's Gymnastics team at the University of Minnesota. Mike has the program thriving after losing it's varsity level status and winning the Gymact National title for College club teams. We get an update from Mike on where now trains, competes and how the community at large have rallied around the team to keep it going. It's a great and heart warming story of survival and being relevant. Of course I asked Mike questions on where see the college sports heading in the future and many tentacles that these decisions effect on college campuses. A whole lot of betting going on and this episode is here to explain what is going on. First of all FSU and Clemson betted against the ACC and ESPN and lost. Okay, okay let me explain. FSU and Clemson were suing the ACC and ESPN for the ability to break the Grant of rights. They believed that they could break the grant of rights and get to another Conference and get a bigger and better rev share cut. Here the thing, FSU and Clemson were burning money on legal fees. They were no closer to getting free from the ACC. Plus, they found how much the other Conferences didn't what them. They did gain some new advantages with staying with the ACC. Peace in our time? Some Georgia state legislators are betting on that can pass legislation that with allow the college athletes in their state to be tax exempt. They believe this legislation will aid in better recruiting at the schools in their state. One the biggest issues the NCAA faces is interference from State law makers who only see things that set advantages for their schools. Those law makers only make it difficult for the NCAA to pass law that are equal for all schools. Speaking of Law makers our congress is being wooed by lobbyist of the NCAA to create and pass anti-trust laws to protect them from being sued every time try to legislate the rules that are past by the member institutions. There is a strange twist, these same law makers are being wooed by leaders of NIL leaders for the athletes. The law makers are double dipping , but for who's benefit? Sounds like both side are betting on something will get done. Lastly, The FBI is investigating point shaving and game influence in the NBA and College basketball. The colleges are fearing betting on many levels. The attacks on players social media and the lost of eligibility. Effecting the outcome of games is having a strange twist on college sports, or why it's happening at certain levels of College Basketball. I start the Podcast with some corrections on some College football coach moving. Also, the national champs lose another coach. Then I discuss the latest update on the Michigan sign stealing case. The N.O.A. responded by Michigan and the snitch is names, sort of? Ohio state discuss their money issues, yes even they have cash flow problems. We had a Juco athlete sue to gain more eligibility, now we find out who is the next to sue the NCAA and why. The level of past competition may be key for the win for NCAA. This episode begins with conversation with friend and former fellow KQRS cast member as I inform Bob about NIL and all the news and mis-information surroundings the topic. After I talked to Bob, I moved on to today topic the on coming power flex from Tony Petitti of the B1G and Greg Stanky of the SEC. They want to control of the CFP, how many teams from what conference get in. They already will get 59% of the revenue from the CFP games to split between them. Petitti and Stanky want control of governance over all NCAA championships. Including the basketball tournament. Some other commissioners are starting to grumble and openly and say go ahead, we're calling your bluff. Go and take your ball and suffer the consequence's. Some believe that if Petitti and Stanky did move their conferences out the CFP and NCAA, they will destroy college sports as we know it and they will become the 2 largest sports villains in sports history. The numbers are in on the viewers of non-CFP bowl games. This will not sit well with those who keep asking, why are there so many bowl games? Lastly, the secret is out . Happy 2025 and the college athletic world has been quiet except for the follow nuggets. More conference realignment, the one conference that had been touched by it is now losing a School. I tell you about the real $$$ money guy with U. of Michigan football/athletics. Over the holidays there was a lot of whining and battles over one topic. I joyfully discuss the ESPN/SEC cry fest. It's that time of year and I'm not talking about Christmas. Its Football portal time. Before I hit todays topics I talked about the poor announcing on the coverage the CFP. ESPN has clearly told their announcers to be bias on behalf of the SEC. Not for the teams that are in, for the ones who didn't get in. This why they over paid for the games to make sure their voice is the only one you hear on the that topic. Marshall Univ backed out of a bowl due to loosing it's H/C and 28 players to the transfer Portal. This a bad look for Marshall. Speaking of the portal, we now see the effects the football calendar not matching the school calendar. Players in the playoff are having to decide to stay and be stuck or leaving their teams before the playoff are over. What a mess! Diego Pavia the QB at Vanderbilt, sued the NCAA for more eligibility. He claimed his time at a Juco should not count. I tell you what the outcome is and why. I gave an update on a couple of stories. The first story is on a guy , he a man , he's was 40. That's right , the mullet is back in the news. OK St. Head coach Mike Gundy was told by a board of Directors of the school, that he needed to either take pay cut or be fired for cause. I talked more about flap planting. I even told a story involving my Gophers. One year ago, one of the biggest travesties to happen in college sports. The snubbing of FSU not making the CFP. This year the CFP committee made their selections. Listen to m e and find out what these stuff shirts did with their decisions. Just say they pissed off some people down south. I start the show with a report on a Trade. ESPN and TNT? What does this have to do with College sports? Listen and I will tell you. A counter lawsuit has been filed by Mountain West Conf. to have an anti-trust lawsuit file by the PAC 12/2 Conf. I discuss what this legal hollow belleau is all about. (Of course Money) Then I finish with information on a peak of the college athletics' future. With the death of the National Letter of intent (NLI), what do we call signing day? Commitment Day!? There is fallout from the 2024 College football season that NO one was counting on happening. The athletes find something more valuable than NIL dollars and it's "playing time". They have that its more valuable to them than money. The athletes want exposure for the pro's, their next team or a bN729HY6etter NIL deal. They refuse to sit wait their turn , they want it now. Also, they other thing to fall out of the use of money to pay athletes in the future. Schools are being forced to hang onto Coaches, that would have been fired by this time of the season. Normally, schools would have turned to a booster to write a check to make a coach disappear. Now, the schools will need that booster money for past payments to athletes eligible to received a cut of the House settlement case. The will need that money for future athletes payments. This is also something thing the athletes wanted for a different reason. I started the episode by reading a message I received from a high School friend. Then I welcomed todays guest Former Women's Track Coach Gary Wilson on to the show , by wishing him a Happy Birthday. We discussed the failure in fund raising at the U. of MN. for athletics. We quickly reminisced about the real Board of regents at the U. We chatted about the over side of the coin of athletics. The non-money side and the benefits having a wide range teams offered at a major university. What will be the downfall of cutting opportunities for other athletes and the effect of society. We discussed the parity in College football due to the Transfer Portal and NIL. He asked me what I'm seeing and I was able to fill in holes on the topic. We talked about the lack of fund at the U of MN and other places and how they will survive during period without the funds to compete. We are both in agreement that future for some sports at the U are cloudy at best. I then asked him a somewhat unfair question about the lack of local media coverage on the changing world. We were celebrating the settlement of the House (Hubbard/Cater) Case with the members institutions of The NCAA, The NCAA and plaintiffs of the cases. Paying past for lost NIL and bringing revenue sharing to todays athletes. Well, The judge is wanting better language on NIL/Collectives being kept. The schools want to bring it in house and the Judge doesn't see that way. If the NIL language is clear up the Judge may deny the settlement. I talk about the possible fallout if the case goes back to court. A new term has been born in this discussion. There is more info on the rebirth of the Pac12. They want to give more spots to the middle of the Power 4 conferences. I spent time on the math again and cut myself off , so you didn't run away from the show. I discussed the purposed changes to NIL rules and structure. Why it would be good for the athletes and what would be bad for all of us. Friday 8/9/24 News dump, brings us several slices of life of college sports. From Deon's possible lack of player discipline, with a team rumored out of controlled like the White House Dallas Cowboys. From there we travel to that school up north. Their former coach was hit with a NCAA penalty and why I believe there is some gamesmanship going on between the NCAA v. Michigan. I caught up with Gopher Super fan Mike Molina. Mike I work together on the Tom Barnard Podcast in the past. We talked about the good old days of working on Tom's show. I started with asking about what he is up to and how his younger brother are doing. Mike gave an update on both giving us updates on the latest of their lives. We remanence about his time on the U. of Minnesota campus. How campus has changed in just a few short years. He talked about his Gopher fandom. I answered few questions about Gopher Sports and the future of college sports in General. All the math of this show will go into affect in the 2025-2026 Academic school year. This episode is dedicated to my Title sponsor, because the Plaintiffs Attorney's will be getting 495.2 Million dollars. Billable hours are defeated. The Math of the Settlement of the House, Hubbard, Carter vs The NCAA and it's member institution's. I will spit out the numbers and show the breakdown of payments of the athletes of these cases. Who get money and how much money they will get. The NCAA and the Plaintiffs have agreed to help lobby Congress and not for or against athletes becoming employees. The athletes have agreed to remain neutral on the topic. Another set of numbers for Present and future athletes, I took a look at Roster limits and Scholarship limit. The amounts that can awarded are going up. WAY UP! I tell you about at the end of the Pod why this fools gold in most cases. Also, how the revenue share number over the next 10 years. 23.1 million in year 1 to 33 million in year ten. The breakdown will go of the money. 75% to Football, 10% Men's Basketball, 5% Women's Basketball and 10% to all other athletes. I have a Olympic Nugget for you to snack on. I quickly explain how G5 and FCS schools fit in this picture or not. There is stat to share for more Transfer Portal Nightmares. It's gum bumping/Talking season in College football/ College Sports. I start off talking about how the SEC spends so much time taking shots at other conferences and coaches. For a Conference that says over and over , that they are the top Conference in all college sports. I think they are unsecure and boastful. Their Conference commissioner spend way too much time telling how great they are and soaking up all the butt kissing he gets. More College realignment talk, but this more a discussion on how fans of ACC, Big XII schools whining about not being "in the club" as @Danwetzel, @patforde & @RossDellinger of the College Football inquirer Podcast state it. LOL! Podcasters/You tubers who have have allegiance to a school who are not in the club spend their taking shots of schools of the bottom of the B1G or SEC. Stating their school has more to offer than those schools. Lastly, I touch on transfer Portal stats as far female athletes and the percentages of the young who entered the portal and land out college sports. Beware of the greener grass, it may be swamp land. As July 1st 2024 rolled around and the teams formally of the Pac 12 officially joined their new conferences. I thought it was time to tell a bed time story about the Death or Demise of the Conference of Champions, the Pac 12. A story so sad , that it killed off one it's greatest hero's. Bill Walton who was a M.O.P. in the NCAA basketball tournament for UCLA. Had to endure a season long good bye to the PAC 12 or as he called it the "Conference of Champions". Days before his beloved Pac 12 was to go away as we know it, Bill died from cancer. This is a story/nightmare of incompetence, greed, arrogance, bad decisions, cover ups and just plain old stupidity. The Power brokers, The Commissioners, Presidents, chancellors and A.D.'s, let down their Coaches, Athletes, Student bodies, Alumni and Fans. With one bad decision after another. Once the TV companies saw and understood the mess they was dealing with found it was easier to manipulate and leave for dead than the Big XII or ACC; I believe were the true targets for death. 100 plus years for American Sports history just left to rot on the side of the road. I tell the story of how it got so bad in this episode and who played a part in it. All the Power People such as Commissioners, Schools Presidents & chancellors , A.D's have all either been fired, left for other jobs or retired with one year of setting the Pac 12 aflame and destroying a once respected and loved Conference. Who wants it to change and may happen if the change does not come. If the change does come what happens to the smaller conferences? I take look at it all in this episode. A member of the U.S. House decided to introduce a bill to insure the athletes could not be made employees of a schools, Conferences or Associations. I truly do not have a grasp on why this brought fourth, but it is name The protection their Economic Freedom Act of 2024. I do have some thoughts on the topic. With the ever changing economic landscape of college athletics Schools, Conferences and Associations are all looking for more and new way to make money since Media sources of money have dried up. Schools are looking to not to subsidize the athletic dept anymore; even they pimp them out everyway they can. Also, the athletes themselves can't be pimped out anymore with giving a cut to them. I talk about two new ways the BIG Xll is looking at making more money, more money. Lastly, MLB is at all time low of the number of Black Americans in the game and why it's happening. With this episode I do short but informational synopsis of the some of the unexcepted fallout from the NCAA V House (Carter & Hubbard) cases. Why would the lesser 22 other conference agree to pay bulk of the 2.8 billion dollar settlement? Who should the College football players being suing instead of the NCAA? What will the NIL money go to in the future? Will collectives survive? Schools are already have taken action to bring them in house. I tell you it will work. Lastly, What will be the next source income form Athletic departments? It something that has happen at the pro level and it has nothing to with NIL or ticket sales. With the proposed settlement of the House V. NCAA case last week , I thought it was good time to ask some questions about this historic change in college athletics with no other than former U. of Minnesota A.D. Joel Maturi. Who has also sent some time helping out the NCAA. I began our one hour journey by asking Joel about further conference realignment and the silly notion of some members of the media who believe that Conference would vote for relegation. From there we discussed who are the winners and losers in this settlement. How it would effect the structure of Athletic dept. on college campus. How it effect the structure of the NCAA. How it would effect the Non-Revenue/Olympic sports. We even talked about how it could change the Olympic model in the U.S. Could the way scholarships taken away or increase to those who do not get them now. We looked at how the effects on NIL and Collectives and the Transfer Portal. Will it open the college sports to more NIL and transfers. Could it bring some long overdue controls to this mess. How will it effect Title IX and also, the possibilities of them becoming employees. It's time for the power of College athletics to admit that they need to start sharing the revenue generated by the athletes. A framework has been started and edging towards an agreement to settle the House vs. NCAA case. They have to the end of May 2024. It will cost them 1 billion dollars to back the athlete from 2018 to 2022. This will not end the court cases, but it put an end to amateurism. I go into great detail how the athletes win and how they will lose in the future world of the college sports. I finish with a personal note on the future of my life. With things changing and other issues coming to a head in college athletics everything little detail is being blown up into a mountain. The way people comment on what they see and hear is mostly an over reaction to gain listeners or viewers by sensationalizing the story. There are a lot of chicken littles out there, as I try to present the information in calm , logical and an easy to understand way. More updates on the House vs NCAA case. The status of the Pac 2(12) and the Life of the G5. The possibilities of how sports true will end up. Lastly, the State of Florida flexes it legal muscle to scare ESPN and the ACC. With the seasons changing once again , it's time to put somethings to Bed. I start the show with salutes to the 2024 NCAA Women's and Men's College Basketball championships. The undefeated champs from the U. of South Carolina basketball team lead their head Coach Dawn Stanly. Showing there deep bench and it's Power. Speaking of power, the Men's Champ U. of Conn. They beat their foes by double digits in each game. Showing they could over power each in many different ways. Next I touched on Spring football and how boring it can be and how some are looking to change it. I sprinkled in some NIL and Transfer Portal Talk. The buzz last week was on the non-story of the "SUPER LEAGUE". There are many different reasons on why it can't happen for now and the next 5-8 years. Lastly, I ended the show with salute to a team that took a giant step forward 10years ago and change the fortunes of a college softball program. The 2014 Gopher Softball team showed that they could beat the hated Michigan Wolverines for the Tourney title and changed the trajectory of program to a national recognized program from the laughable losers they had been for years. This victory not changed things in the B1G, but gave more teams in the B1G hope that they could do it also. A Double-Double standard is once again being exposed in College sports, but this time it's women college sports. Are they allowed to be physical, be expressive and hold nothing back. Or do we want our female athletes to dainty, finesse young ladies. Some fill that they should never want to be aggressive, tough, physical or power. Some believe that make the young female athlete look man-like. That they should be lady-like at times. Watching young female up-close as I did for 20+ years. Made see and understand there is no room for that on the field or court. I understood to be champion they had to work hard at their sport, not show weakness to either coaches, teammates or opponents. They even to this day the majority of female athlete were brought to their sport by their dad, older brother or other male in the family. At younger ages they against boys who drilled to tough and never give in. If that's the case then what do you expect those young to do if they are fighting for playing time on a majority boys team. They have to work 2x as hard and be as tough or tougher. The other shoe in this double-double standard is the racial component that we throw into the picture. Good gal v bad gals. The wholesome white players and the dirty black. As we have seen in this and last years NCAA women basketball tourney. Players of both races act the same way on the court, but only to have them described differently by the media and social media. We thought we finally got rid of this crap only to rear it's ugly head in women sports. In a lot of way the only thing the NCAA has gotten right, is the elevation of women sports. Partly it came kicking and screaming to the party, but they have really taken care of women sports in the past 20 years. Now if only the people outside the sport would the same. Women's basketball has come a long way from tip-toe ball throwing.(people in MN will understand that on.) With the world of college sports spinning ever so faster. I asked a simple question. Should there be a draft in college sports? I would love hear from all you on that one. The main topic for this week is surrounding the talk that All Could Collapse. What am I talking about. The ACC of course. With members suing the conference and blaming ESPN of being a bad partner. The schools of the ACC found out a couple of things in the past few weeks. One, they will be 30-60 million dollars per behind the schools of the B1G and SEC. This is the main reason why Clemson joined the party in suing the ACC. Clemson wants out and they want to join either the B1G or SEC. The other fact the school of the ACC learned. ESPN could opt of its TV deal with the conference. Leaving the ACC twist in the wind and try to find better revenues and a better TV deal. ESPN has many reason to do so. What recourse does the ACC schools have? Sue to get and that line is getting longer or they could vote to dissolve the conference. Why would they that? At least they could call their shot and start a new or just split up on their on terms. They have until July 2025 to do so. This going to be a B1G story in the weeks to come in College sports. I was joined in Studio by my Son John Blackshear II, (Jay Bee Jay). Even I could hear him in Studio, the Mic did not catch his voice, maybe we can do it again. It was cool that he sat in, now if I could get him to really crack the mic. LOL I could see his body movements and facial expressions when I laid down some info. I covered the new rules changes of college football. Next year the helmet communication devices. This should eliminate sign stealing issue and the side show of trying to disguise the play called. It looks like Connor Stallions will be out of work. Also, there will be a 2 minutes warning at the end of the 2nd qtr and 4th qtr. The TV people get a time out at the most dramatic times of the game guaranteed. Why did Trev Alberts leave the school he played for and take a job at Texas A&M? The format for the 2026 CFP was agreed to and was approved. The SEC and B1G tried flex with its new found power. The wanted to get 4 automatic bids in the CFP. The G5, Big XII and the ACC called the bluff of the B1G and Sec, who stated if that if the They didn't get there way, they would leave the CFP and take their conference teams and start their own Playoff's with the backing of ESPN and Fox. They would have killed off the CFP 2026 new extended format. When the other conferences said no to that many auto bids . The B1G and SEC gave in and agreed to 1 bid per conference, but they got what they really wanted. The B1G and SEC will get 53% of the CFP MONEY. Why is this important? If you want to know, you will have to listen to my podcast. This week I start off with answering question from my sister Charlotte. Did I hear you right, the schools are suing themselves. Yes, when a school goes to court vs. NCAA, they are going to court against themselves per se. I gave a state of college athletics. The list of story lines that pop ups and fade, to only pop up again. I touched on the not yet signed TV for the CFP with ESPN and why it's not signed. The CFP format and why the P2 is slowing the future format being finalized. Why college athletes transferring is not as big as their counterparts. There are good things that happen within college Athletics. Why some say the whining of old college Coaches about working too hard and no time off. They are the highest paid employee's in each state. They are jut a bunch old men yelling at clouds. There was a 33 year old coach to paint a totally different picture. Oh, yeah, I got to the nitty-gritty of what the B1G and SEC are to pull off. Are they just flexing to get more money and power. Are they just doing enough to say "we tried", before they just break off and do their own thing. Do we have peace in CFB, do we have an agreement for the CFP? But first, complete a story from last week. George Kliavkoff the Commish of the Pac 12/2 is unemployed. The PAC/2 let him go. Next I discuss the way some team skirting the I'm out of Scholarships issues for preferred players. Is a loop hole are is it they way of the future. NIL is wide open for now. The NCAA lost anther court case in Federal court and I talk about the ramification of that in college sports. Oh, back to the agreement, the CFP is now set. The schools leaders have finally agreed to the 5+7 model=the winner of The B1G, SEC, ACC, Big XII will get an automatic bid to the CFP and be a top 4 seed. Also, the top rated G5 team rated by the college football playoff committee. There is a lot more to this I explain in the podcast.
