Welcome to Ep 163: Low Tech, No Tech Accessibility Considerations with Sarah Silverman. Sarah Silverman, PhD is an independent faculty developer and instructor of Disability Studies. As an autistic educator, she has a personal stake in Neurodiversity as well as extensive college teaching and faculty development experience. Her interests include accessible and feminist pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the history of the neurodiversity movement. Her book Classroom Mindscapes: An Introduction to Neurodiversity for Educators is forthcoming from the University of Oklahoma Press in September. In this conversation, Sarah and I discuss options for faculty members who are considering low tech, no tech, or more analog classroom activities or educational environments. We talk about access friction and decisions that might need to be considered in order to meet the needs of current students with competing access and technology needs. Sarah has been recently working on this topic and will have an upcoming workshop on this on July 21st. The ACC batted lead off for this new season, find out what the biggest thing to come out their meetings. Congress is talking and maybe getting closer to passing bills. I let you in what's going on on Capitol Hill. Lane Kiffin tried to do some explaining and as usual, ole Lane put his foot in mouth. I explain what he said , where he said it and why he he thought needed to speak. This topic moved me to give  some insights on a greater topic, broached by Lane. It was alumni week for me at the athletic dept. As I attended a gathering of former Gopher Employees. A couple of days later attended alumni day of Gopher Baseball. I start this episode off with a salute former Gopher's Softball coach Piper Ritter, who was relieved of her duties on Friday. I then called for the firing of Present Gopher A.D. Mark Coyle and my reasoning for his dis-missle.  I move onto Purposed rule changes by leaders of college athletics. No more waiting for FCS to FBS schools. The school President's got together to put pen to paper and you need to hear some of their ideas.  The word is out on how much the revenue stream produced in 2024-25 and how was the money split up.  They finally did it after much discussion and fix something that was not broken. The inability of the leaders to say no to those who they need to is bursting budgets all the country in college sports. Tampering enforcement is causing the conference leader to fight over more items. Should the NCAA enforcement of roster tampering is hot topic. One conference wants to pause enforcement and some want to continue forward and prosecute they offending schools and one conference is talking out both sides of their mouth. Find out which conference is say what and why. They claim that budgets are out of control. Some schools are handling in a way that they promised to that not to do. I once again sit down with my friend Pete Narjaian, former MPLS Central High, Minnesota Gopher football star and NFL Player. Pete and I first break the news that Lou Holtz is in hospice care. We discuss the impact he had on both of our lives and others. We moved on to the magic that U. of Indiana performed by winning a national championship at the highest level of CFB and why it's a story for the ages and why it gives all schools like Indiana hope to become more successful in these time of NIL, Rev share and the transfer portal.  Pete continues to have interest and interviews with college teams about the position of general manager. It is National championship eve. Miami v. Indiana for the national title. I have to spend time on the latest news on the Game fixing going on in college basketball. Chief and Lou started off about the dangers of the annual holiday party. Then went into the lack of ship yards in the US and the problems with logistics in military. Then Andrew and Wayne went to the President speech last night and how the numbers do not add up.

The leaders of major conferences and Notre Dame are feeling the pressure and are acting towards one another as they fight for dollars and prestige. A verbal battle has broken out between Notre Dame and their business , but not conference partner the ACC. They have working relationship that has become very tense the announcement of the 12 team College Football bracket was revealed to the world. Norte Dame making accusations, the ACC claiming they were only looking out for the conference best interest. Then out of nowhere the commissioner of the Big Xll came off the top rope with a vicious elbow to Notre Dame's Pride.  There behavior is not collegiate or exemplary.  As I tried wrap things up B1G news from the a school in the B1G. As one of the members had drop a bomb in the middle coaching search carousal time. Again, one's behavior off the field is going to not derail if not crash a promising career, but cost many innocent people to the unemployment line. Today's Pod features 3 generations of Gopher Student Athletic workers. Brehz, Ben and Myself relive days of glory. LOL!  We all had different roles in the dept at different times, but we all have great experience's. From the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's, we all learned about working in college athletics and pain of being involved in Gopher Athletics. The 3 of us chatted our roles and what time that we worked there. We discussed the our opinions of where college sports land has change, where it is now and where it is going in the future. We talked about the major turn around of Indiana Football and could it  happen at other schools like Minnesota. What's the cost to have it happen if you've been a loser for so long. We laughed about Minnesota continue to not get it right and just be mediocre.  We moved our discussion to the CFP and what we  think is right and wrong about the sports biggest tourney and prize. What can college do to get better at over coming the issue that administrators now face. Lastly, we deal with Opt  Outs, Coaches, A.D.'s and players are now opting out of season play. Why are losing team being ask to fill spots. The story behind the scene that is not being fully explained by college leaders. It's ugly and they don't have a way to get ahold of it. Well the time has come to select the teams for the CFP and Fill the bracket. The Committee has shown once again that they screw up a one car funeral. The twist and turns to keep a dog and pony show alive on ESPN. One team that deserve to be in got left out and then went nuclear on the whole post season bit. One that got that didn't deserve to be in seems to be protected by it's past glory. Tweaking selection format only served to make a mess of the process. A P4 conference made bad tie breaker rules and almost got shut for two G6 schools. How will Notre Dame handle football in the future? Will the ACC learn from their near disaster conference scenario? What changes are coming for the CFP in 2027 and beyond? I begin todays show updating the world of CFB job news. How was the latest to join the high paid unemployment line. The number of dollars being burned could feed the hunger in the country. Today's episode is about how Schools in major college Football are shaped by the past and how they try continue to hang on to those beliefs. Even, with teams like Indiana, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech showing they way of the to the top of CFB. Many different people are caught in this loop of belief that the old way is the best way. The press , who should be telling us why it's happening, continue to talk about the top teams of the past. 1, because that's what they and are confrontable discussing or don't believe what they are seeing or 2, they just lazy and talking about the old traditional winners is easy and makes them feel smart.
