Hinweis: A1 Digital live treffen?Smart Country Convention Berlin 2025 (30.09–02.10),it-sa Expo&Congress (07.10–09.10),RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE 2025 (09.10–11.10).Für alle drei Events gibt es kostenlose Tickets über die A1-Digital-Landingpages.----Relevante Folgenlinks:Madeleine (https://www.linkedin.com/in/madeleine-mickeleit/)Peter (https://www.linkedin.com/in/petergaspar/)A1 Digital Partnerprofil (https://iotusecase.com/de/unternehmen/a1-digital/)Lösungsbeispiel Hawle-Hydranten (https://www.a1.digital/de/case-studies/hawle-hydranten-iot/)A1 Digital (https://www.a1.digital/de/case-studies/)Jetzt IoT Use Case auf LinkedIn folgen1x monatlich IoT Use Case Update erhalten

In this episode of Wavelengths, the Amphenol Broadband Solutions podcast, host Daniel Litwin sits down with Chuck Girt, Chief Technology Officer at FiberLight, to explore how broadband innovation is shaping the future of education. As schools embrace 1:1 devices, cloud-based curriculum, and even emerging AI-driven learning tools, their networks are under more pressure than ever. Girt brings over 35 years of experience deploying enterprise-grade and nonprofit anchor institution networks to the table, offering a roadmap for districts looking to future-proof their connectivity strategies. This conversation unpacks how fiber-first thinking can unlock new opportunities for students, especially in rural communities where connectivity gaps can make the difference between opportunity and isolation. Key Discussion Highlights: Fiber as the Anchor: Girt explains why fiber optics are the foundation for sustainable school networks—delivering the speed, reliability, and scalability needed to support everything from cloud LMS to immersive VR and AI-driven teaching. Designing for Dynamic Demand: He outlines how to build networks that handle heavy spikes in usage—like statewide testing bursts or lunchtime video surges—through redundant paths, resilient infrastructure, and local content caching. Choosing the Right Architecture: The episode breaks down the pros and cons of dark fiber vs. lit wave services, and why solutions like MPLS remain a practical, future-ready approach for many districts. Tackling Rural Roadblocks: Girt shares strategies to overcome the biggest hurdles in rural deployments—political resistance, cost justification, and tech debt—and how partnerships can turn small communities into connected hubs. Planning for Funding: With E-Rate and BEAD funds becoming clearer, he emphasizes why districts should build for long-term growth, not short-term bandwidth fixes, and how to align funding with scalable infrastructure plans. This episode offers timely insights for district CIOs, operators, and education decision-makers working to close the digital divide. From designing resilient, scalable networks to navigating funding realities, Girt lays out a blueprint for turning connectivity investments into tangible student outcomes.

This Week: Here we are again. Another tragic school shooting, and the tone deaf, empty gestures of thoughts and prayers is all we're left with from those in power. We can, and most, do better. Meanwhile, a federal judge in TX stops an obvious 1st Amendment violation which would require the 10 commandments be posted in all school classrooms (see decision). But the state attorney general instructs all schools outside of that district to proceed anyways. Here in SoCal, Beverly Hills decides to display Israeli flags - in the midst of their genocide against the palestinian people - during Jewish American Heritage month. But just two days later the superintendent rescinds the policy citing safety concerns. So progress… I guess? And, as the 25-26 school year gets underway, the fallout from the Mahmoud v. Taylor decision allowing families to opt out of LGBTQ+ content in schools is just being felt. With a total lack of guidance from the Court on how to practically implement the decision, schools face a chaotic and uncertain future, along with a bigoted chilling effect that threatens to erase LGBTQ people from the curriculum. We measure success by how well we deliver the customer's experience.” — Tom Boggs, BCN Telecom In an era where enterprise customers expect seamless delivery, rock-solid security, and AI-enhanced services, BCN Telecom is rising to the occasion with a bold, customer-centric approach. In this episode of Technology Reseller News, Doug Green speaks with Tom Boggs, Vice President of Service Delivery at BCN Telecom, about how the company is redefining managed services through experience-level agreements (XLAs), vertical customization, and rapid adaptability. BCN Telecom isn't just connecting networks—it's co-owning business outcomes. With a managed services ecosystem spanning connectivity, SD-WAN, SASE, and cloud applications, BCN integrates diverse technologies into a single, curated solution tailored to each customer's industry and goals. Boggs explains how this means shifting from static vendor relationships to dynamic partnerships. Boggs highlights three major forces shaping today's delivery expectations: • Cloud-first and hybrid IT strategies • Security-driven design • Customer outcome focus Security is front and center—layered into every deployment, from edge computing to fully managed firewalls and secure remote access. But it's the convergence of security and connectivity, aligned with smart project planning, that sets BCN apart in large-scale, multi-site rollouts. AI and automation also play a key role. Boggs shares how BCN equips its project managers with AI-powered note-taking tools to capture call insights in real-time—speeding up delivery and enhancing the customer experience.
