Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers discuss the NBA season that has wrapped up. Free agent moves and much more. Kevin Durant's Arrival in Houston (1:45–9:11) Durant was acquired for Green and a pick, with minimal downgrade to rotation. Mackenzie assigned a +3 point net value to Houston, projecting a 58-win season via Pythagorean models. Houston now features elite coaching (Ime Udoka) and depth across positions. Denver Nuggets Strengthen (14:57–20:38) Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, and a potential Valanciunas deal enhance Jokic's support. Mackenzie noted improved flexibility and defense. Despite Vegas favoring them less in regular season, they're top-tier playoff contenders. Milwaukee Bucks Crisis (24:13–29:18) Dame waived for financial and personal reasons. Miles Turner signs for $107M but doesn't replace Lopez's defense. Mackenzie ranks them 20th in power ratings despite Vegas' 40:1 title odds. Janis likely to be traded soon. Lakers Sign DeAndre Ayton (33:31–37:25) Ayton brings personality and effort concerns. His 18% rim contest rate is worst among centers. Despite teaming up with Luka/LeBron, Mackenzie predicts defensive issues. Projects 43.5 wins, lower than market's 46.5. LeBron's Decision (37:26–42:08) He picks up $53M player option but keeps future open. Trade to GS for Jimmy Butler floated. Lakers prioritize future cap space over winning now—frustrating for LeBron's timeline. Knicks Coaching & Continuity (44:49–47:54) Mike Brown seen as a lateral move from Thibs. Knicks kept core roster and added bench depth. Mackenzie makes them East favorites until Garland returns fully for Cavs. Magic Breakout Prediction (51:56–56:43) Desmond Bane and Jalen Suggs boost perimeter threat. Age curve and returns from injury forecast >50 wins. Mackenzie places them #2 in East behind the Cavs, calling them a regular-season powerhouse. Dallas Mavericks Evaluation (57:30–1:00:58) Kyrie's uncertain return hurts projection. Additions like DLo and Anthony Davis strengthen floor but limit ceiling. Mackenzie projects 39–41 wins, making them a fringe play-in team. Philadelphia 76ers Uncertainty (1:00:58–1:04:52) Despite roster similarity to last year, health of Embiid/PG makes projections volatile. Embiid played only 19 games last season. Munaf leans under; Mackenzie says to wait for in-season evidence. Closing Thoughts & Summer League Preview (1:06:32–1:07:53) Hosts close with excitement for Summer League and reflection on rapid offseason changes. The Knicks finally have their next head coach, Mike Brown. This feels like a lateral move from Thibs. Gio does love the experience he brings. There were also rumors going around that the Knicks were interested in bringing Ben Simmons in. The press conference is going to be interesting because nobody from the Knicks addressed why they got rid of Thibs, so all of the questions are going to be about that now. Mike Brown is inheriting the best Knicks team a coach was ever handed.

0:00 ... Show open ... Bruce Bernstein introduces co-host Michael "World B" Freer and our special guest Dave Wohl, the former player, coach, and general manager. 0:56 ... Dave reflects on the just concluded NBA Finals series between the OKC Thunder and Indiana Pacers. Dave felt that these two teams may meet again in the Finals at some point. 2:06 ... World B points out that OKC may not even have shown the best version of what they can still become as a team. Dave praises OKC GM Sam Presti for the way he built the Thunder into a championship squad. 4:36 ... Bruce points out that NBA players voted Tyrese Haliburton the "most overrated" player in the league and silly they look now. Dave explains how Haliburton's growth whas been so much fun to watch. 5:59 ... World B asks about whether the league has to address the length of the season given the number of high profile injuries. Dave explains why that may not be feasible but suggests a lengthy break midway through the season so players can mentally and physically recharge. 8:40 ... Bruce points out the uniform numbers of the three players who suffered the achilles were all "0." Dave points out how achilles injuries can be so random. 9:53 ... Shai Gilgeous Alexander was originally drafted by the Clippers and traded to OKC in Sam Presti's greatest move. Dave goes through some of Presti's moves while also defending the trade with LA due to the wishes of owner Steve Ballmer. 12:45 ... Bruce transitions to the Kevin Durant trade where he went from the Suns to the Rockets and asks Dave if this closes the gap between the Rockets and the Thunder. Dave likes the deal for Houston but thinks they may miss Dillon Brooks and his defense. 14:59 ... Did the Rockets simply give up on Jalen Green? Dave feels Durant gets them closer to a title more quickly than Green ever could. 17:17 ... How does this deal affect the future of the Phoenix Suns franchise given their bad salary situation? 19:10 ... The New York Knicks' pursuit of the coaches from five other teams has affected their relationships with a lot of teams. How much damage was done? The Knicks didn't have a plan and now whomever they sign will be their 6th or 7th choice. 21:50 ... In spite of the Knicks mis-steps, they're still a premier eastern conference team, so is it better for the NBA to have a lot of teams that COULD win as opposed to fewer elite teams like OKC that could be a future dynasty? 24:06 ... Bruce asks Dave about Tom Thibodeau's decision to bring Josh Hart off the bench and whether the fact that Hart suggested the change might have caused Knicks management to question Thibs' leadership. 27:25 ... The Lakers will be sold for $10 billion and as a former member of the Lakers organization, Dave has some thoughts on how the "Mom and Pop" nature of the team might change under a more corporate ownership. Jeanie Buss will still represent the team as their "Governor," but her input on basketball decisions might be affected. 29:54 ... How will the price tag for the Lakers affect the entry fees for the next NBA expansion teams, which are expected to be Seattle and Las Vegas? 32:08 ... Dave sounds off on what expansion teams are like to work for since he worked for the Miami Heat when they were an expansion team. He feels that expansion teams start with a clean slate and can build their own unique culture. Dave hired Erik Spoelstra as video coordinator and explains why Spo' appealed to him as a young potential hire. 34:27 ... The NBA Draft is on Wednesday night and we discuss five "bottom feeder" teams and what their goals should be in the draft. Danny Ainge and the Utah Jazz are first. 35:51 ... The Washington Wizards are next ... members of their management all worked in OKC and Dave feels they'll follow Sam Presti's model. 37:08 ... Washington is a major market while Oklahoma City is not. Does that affect the Wizards' ability to use the OKC model, which requires patience. 39:04 ... The Charlotte Hornets are picking at #4 ... and have missed the playoffs the last 9 years ... they have some talent on the roster so they'll probably draft for a position. 40:32 ... New Orleans picks at #7 but Zion Williamson's lack of reliability really hurts this franchise and also negatively affects his trade value. 42:20 ... Philadelphia is a "bottom feeder" in name only as they were devastated by injuries last season. Can they use the #3 pick wisely and get healthy in time for next season? Will they have to use the trade market more than the draft in order to improve? 44:02 ... Philly's Joel Embiid was one of several Olympians who were injured this season but Dave feels that their injuries were not the result of their Olympic obligations. Dave explains how players who work hard all summer can wear their bodies out even though they're not playing in games. 46:41 ... Bruce asks everyone for their overall thoughts on the season that just concluded. Dave felt it was a "season of change." 47:52 ... World B feels like OKC is built for a run that could result in multiple titles. 49:30 ... Bruce wants to give Pacers coach Rick Carlisle his flowers for a sensational coaching job this season and how he will end up in Springfield one day. 50:22 ... Bruce wraps it up ... thanks everyone ... teases the NBA Draft and next week's show ... TRT 51:23

Seth and Sean get petty and react to others being petty in the Petty Cast. This week they hear Jay Williams standing up to Stephen A, Dave Portnoy ranting about the Red Sox trading Devers, Austin Rivers ranting about the Knicks firing Thibs, and Lavar Ball coming back into our lives with some nonsense.
Boomer and Gio discuss the Knicks coaching rumors and what James Dolan's role may be in the organization's coaching decisions. Gio argues the Knicks should just bring back Thibs while the guys react to the Mavs denying the Knicks access to Jason Kidd. Plus, are Boomer and Gio to blame for the Kodai Senga injury? The Mets and Yankees could be on a collision course to a Subway Series World Series, and Aaron Judge's latest home run leaves Boomer floored.

Chris Kreider talked to the press about his move from the Rangers to the Ducks. Jalen Brunson & Josh Hart finally did an episode of the Roommates podcast and praised Thibs.
We discuss the Roommates podcast with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart who gave respect to Thibs but didn't add much to the story. They seem like they like him, so it was probably not either of them that badmouthed Thibs to Dolan.
The hour began with continued discussion about Antonio Brown's attempted murder warrant. Attention then shifted to the "Roommates" podcast, where Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart praised Thibs, leading to speculation that they weren't the source of any negative comments to Dolan. C-Lo's update covered the Mets' sixth straight win, a Jeff McNeil homer, and Carlos Mendoza's comments on Kodai Senga's hamstring injury, which Pete Alonso felt bad about. The Yankees beat the Royals 1-0, with Devin Williams securing the ninth. More clips from the "Roommates" podcast on the Knicks' future followed. The segment concluded with Gio recommending "Hunt For Bin Laden" on Netflix.
With Boomer out, Gio and Jerry hosted. They began by discussing Kodai Senga's injury from a bad throw by Pete Alonso, which C-Lo highlighted with a clip of Boomer predicting such an injury. The Mets swept the Nationals, and the Yankees won 1-0 against the Royals. The Oilers defeated the Panthers in an exciting game. They briefly touched on HGTV shows before moving to Chris Kreider's press talking about his move to the Ducks. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart's "Roommates" podcast praised Thibs. The hour concluded with news of an attempted murder warrant out for Antonio Brown.

He recently learned, via Ann Liguori at the US Open, that this individual was speaking as if they were still close, prompting Gio to respond graciously. The challenges of working with someone you're not on speaking terms with were discussed. C-Lo's update followed a caller's thoughts on the Netflix submersible documentary. C-Lo then shared his perspective on Chris Kreider's trade to the Ducks. Audio of Carlos Mendoza's heated exchange with an umpire over balls and strikes. There was also a segment detailing BT's "Volpe song," only to reveal that BT had actually taken the lyrics from a caller, which C-Lo's audio confirmed. The hour concluded with a discussion about Rangers fans' relationship with Chris Kreider. Hour 4 Gio proposed four words that, if tweeted, would lead to immediate termination regardless of context. The discussion then shifted to the difficult decision of cashing out on a bet. C-Lo's final update covered Kodai Senga's injury and Carlos Mendoza's comments, along with the Yankees' 1-0 shutout win over the Royals. Aaron Glenn named Ronnie Lott and Boomer Esiason as players he admired. Jameis Winston's potential playing time this year was discussed. The "Moment of the Day" revisited the debate over who truly originated the "Volpe song"—BT or a caller. The show concluded with observations on the shift to Thursday summer traffic and Gio's revelation about Joe Benigno's swimming prowess.

Our morning show said something so crazy, we had to debate.
After falling to Tyrese Haliburton's miracle shot with 0.3 seconds left in Game 1, the Thunder bounced back in a major way in Game 2 with a dominant victory thanks to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's 34-point effort. What was the difference from Game 1 to Game 2, and which team has control going forward in this series? Haliburton hasn't had a dominant series, even though he did hit the game-winner in Game 1. How should he be putting his stamp on the Finals? Has the NBA dropped the ball on the presentation of the Finals, or is this just yet another online complaint ? Who will be the Knicks' next head coach? Did the Knicks fire Thibs without any real plan? Is current Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd a viable option? Howard relives the moment Kobe threw Shaq the alley-oop in the 2001 Western Conference finals, and the guys go through a loaded mailbag! The Ringer is committed to responsible gaming.
