For the believer, next to the gift of the Holy Spirit, the most important gift is the blessing of Grace-Gifts: men set over you in the labour of Word & Doctrine. This teaching explores the scriptural admonition to hold such gifts in high esteem. From 1st century Corinth to 21st century Silicon Valley, some Christians put themselves on a pedestal because of the “spiritual gifts” that God has given them. This sense of spiritual superiority is a serious misunderstanding of the nature of the spiritual life and the purpose of “spiritual gifts.” God does not give us gifts to inflate our ego but to empower us to serve the common good.
Grounded in Christ, empowered by the Spirit, we engage the work that is ours to do in the world. The Spirit gifts each of us with particular gifts that together we embody for the common good.

In this powerful message, we are reminded of the profound unity we share as believers in Christ. Despite our differences, we are bound together by the seven 'ones': one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all. Just as marriage takes effort, so does maintaining the unity of the church. We must lean on these unifying truths, especially when the effort feels overwhelming. The message also highlights how God's grace enhances our unique identities and gifts. We are called to use these gifts, such as those of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, to equip and build up the church in love. As we grow together in Christ, we experience the fullness of life and love that can only be found in Him.

In this final episode of our series, we examine the healthy functioning of the body of Christ as its members use the grace bestowments of God in their midst. Along the way we explore purpose, identity, and functionality as individuals and as a community of faith. If you have ever received instruction on "motivational gifts" out of Romans 12, you'll be blessed to find that the text has richer truths to reveal to us than a personality battery.
In Ephesians 4:6-10 we see the immeasurable grace given to us through Christ. Following that is a presentation of spiritual gifts bestowed on God's people. And in verse 16 we see how dependent the church is on its individual members exercising their gifts so that the body grows and builds itself up in love.

God is transforming you through the power of His grace, making you a part of His body the church. and giving you spiritual gifts. God is a giver! But what kind of gifts does God give the Church and how do we use them? God gives gifts to us for us to serve the Church. What are your gifts? Recorded live at Word of Life Church in Le Sueur, Minnesota, on September 3, 2023, Pastor Jason Lang preaching.
Experiencing the Grace & Gifts of the Holy Spirit There's a crucial principle we need to understand from the outset: Spiritual gifts are not God bestowing to his people something external to himself. They are not some tangible “stuff” or “substance” separable from God. Spiritual gifts are nothing less than God himself in us, energizing our souls, imparting revelation to our minds, infusing power in our wills, and working his sovereign and gracious purposes through us. 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT) - A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. Christ equips the Church with grace, through "grace gifts," that he has given to the Church. These gifts to the Church are people that He has put grace on in order to impart that grace to.
As overwhelming as this season can become, I thought it would fun to turn the stress of shopping and gifting into something more positive. The gifts I'm talking about are ones we can offer the world all the time, just by living out the talents God has given each of us! Whether we realize it or not, we all have really special things to offer the kingdom of God. As the fire began to burn more deeply in me to DO something for God, I began to evaluate what I could even bring to the table. To be very honest…initially, I felt like there weren't many job-openings in God's kingdom for a stay-at-home-mom. Sadly, I feel like this is something many Christians can relate to. We let little lies settle in like “Who am I to do that?” Or “Im just a _____, I could never do what they do…” It's like we get stuck thinking the only quote-unquote qualified people who really make a difference are preachers or evangelist…and that's just not the case! Today, I wanted to share a concept I learned about a few years ago that helped change my perspective on this. And…since it helped me, I figured…chances are good this could help someone else, too! You may or may not have heard about this concept before. It's called the Seven Mountains of Influence. In essence, these are the seven facets of society that have the MOST influence. The exciting part is that we ALL fall into one (or several) of these categories. Now, I'm a very practical thinker so having categories to look at immediately made me feel like I DID have a space to make a difference. So, without further adieu, want to hear what they are?? They are: Government, Education, Family, Business, Arts & Entertainment, Media, and Religion. I mean…its genius! And so simple. Of course we all have a place. Of course we ALL have a role to play. We are, after all, the body of Christ. We can't all be preachers! And while God does give us a list of special giftings in the Bible, known as the Grace-Gifts of Christ: Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers..(see Ephesians 4:11), chances are, we aren't going to feel like we fall into one of those categories. I'll jump into those gifts another time, because they are wonderful and worth learning about. But again, words like apostle and prophet and preacher are a bit intimidating. I prefer to look for the more practical ways our gifts can serve. And that is exactly why the seven mountains of influence was such an eye opener for me. It gave me a jumping off point. It allowed me to ask myself what group (or groups) I fell into. And then, I could review even more closely the things I brought in those areas that were unique to me. For example. I knew I was a stay at home mom and felt very much that my fist sphere of influence was the Family. But beyond that, I knew God had given me a gift for writing, art, and photography. I also saw God had given me a platform on social media (because of my husband, who's career is on a world stage). The more I mulled it over, I thought, well… I can influence my family for Christ AND I can use arts/entertainment to encourage others in the media sphere. In a weird way, it was like using a key to crack the code of how to use the natural Gifts God gave me. Not just how to use them but where to use them, too! With allll of this in mind, my hope is that this series equips you to look at your own gifts to see how and where you can live for Him…influencing the Kingdom in ways only You can! After all, it is the season for gifts! So, lets start right off the bat today with a big one: Media… Thank you to our sponsors! Early on in my charismatic history, I understood that the Ephesians 4 gifts were offices that God instituted to govern the local church. Later on In the journey, I stumbled upon Alan Hirsh's work, suggesting that the Ephesians 4 gifts were more like personality types that motivated us and painted our interpretation processes. After that my reformed charismatic buddies tried to convince me that the Ephesians 4 gifts were graces given by God detached from our personalities or our participation within the local communities.
The Big Idea: We can't always know God's ways, but we can absolutely know and trust His heart.Romans 11:25-36Three Outlandish Claims:1. All Israel will be saved (v26) Jeremiah 31:31-341 Peter 3:18-222. God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. (v29)● Irrevocable: “without repentance” “no regrets from the giver.” ● Gifts: charismata- Grace Gifts Genesis 8:21● Calling: Invite to a task and a relationship.Romans 8:28● God designs and guides history irrevocably, without regret, and will never change His mind.3. God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that He may have mercy on them all.(v32)● God has designed and guided history—both its disobedience and its obedience—so that in the end it will most fully display the reliability of his promises and the magnificence of his mercy—to prevent human pride and produce white-hot worship.“It is a gross error to interpret this as meaning that God has made sinners out of everybody so he can save the whole human race. “Mercy upon all” has reference to that mercy's being extended impartially, and under the same conditions, to all alike. Moreover, it is “mercy upon all” in that it is truly available to all. Everyone on earth “may” receive it, in the sense that he has permission and is invited to receive it. This aspect of meaning is quite clear in Romans 11:31, where it is said, “They MAY now obtain mercy, not “WILL obtain mercy.” - CoffmanRomans 11:33-36RESPONSE:● What is one thing God is saying to me right now?● What would happen if I obeyed it immediately?● Who can I tell about this?
