In this week's message, Part 2 of our Limitless: Declare Him to the Ends of the Earth series, Calvary Church turns to Luke 5:17–32 with Pastor John Antonucci of the Church at Channelside to confront the subtle inward drift that can pull churches away from God's mission. As Jesus teaches, we see a vivid contrast between those who sit near Him yet remain closed off, and those who recognize that His grace is meant to reach far beyond the walls around them. This message calls us to listen closely to Jesus without turning our backs on those who need Him most. When we open our hearts and our church to the hurting and the far-from-God, we declare with our lives that the Lord still welcomes, restores, and saves.Support the showFind us at! Calvary.us

As we continue in The Story we arrive at Act Four - God Appears. God has always been present, but he now appears in human flesh, in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. One of the best examples of the heartbeat of Act Four - is the Transfiguration of Jesus in Matthew 17. Carlos Velez shows how Jesus reveals God's glory, bridges the gap between us and God, and calls us to new life. As we see the truth of who Jesus is we understand that there is nothing we can place above Jesus in our lives. CPT fellow and senior pastor of Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, Jim Samra, joins Joel Lawrence and Matt Kim for episode two of Preaching and the Pastor Theologian. Together, they explore the connection between a pastor's inner life and the ministry of preaching. Samra reflects on the church as a “pillar” and “conduit” between heaven and earth, emphasizing how a preacher's holiness and attentiveness to God enable this connection. He shares practical rhythms of prayer, fasting, accountability, and sermon preparation rooted in dependence on the Holy Spirit. The conversation also delves into his understanding of prophecy, hearing God's voice, and cultivating a congregation that listens for divine guidance. In closing, Samra discusses the importance of “cleaning up contaminated land” within the church—acknowledging past wounds and cultural sins so that the body of Christ can truly embody healing and holiness in its community and witness.Living Church - Awe and Presence

Dr. John Munro, senior pastor of Calvary Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and host of The Verdict radio program, talks with Wayne Shepherd about his journey from law to ministry. (click for more...) Website: www.calvarychurch.comThe Verdict Radio Program: https://theverdict.orgOriginally from Scotland, Pastor Munro was raised in a Christian home and came to faith at age 12. After a successful career as a prosecutor and attorney, he felt a strong, Spirit-led call to leave law and study at Dallas Theological Seminary, leading him into pastoral ministry in North America. He and his wife, Gudny, from the Faroe Islands, have served faithfully for decades, focusing on preaching grace and shepherding people with compassion. Munro spoke candidly about losing his adopted son, Christopher, during the COVID pandemic—a tragedy that deepened his understanding of grief and dependence on God's sustaining grace. Through that experience, he learned the power of presence over words and gained renewed empathy for those who suffer. Now in later years, he continues to serve passionately, viewing ministry as a lifelong calling rather than a profession to retire from, grateful to be used by God wherever He leads.
