After keeping fans waiting for more than a year, the American Southwest Conference finally had something to say about its membership situation, and it did so with a bang, swiping two teams from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to shore up its membership and bring it back to six for the fall of 2026. Who does that affect? It affects the SCAC folks, who were on the way to getting an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs, and we'll hear more about the reaction of the conference when we sit down with conference commissioner Dwayne Hanberry on this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. Plus ... This edition of the podcast is sponsored by GameStrat: The Most Reliable & Fastest In-Game Video Replay System on The Market. D-III football coaches should click here to learn more. Plus, the two schools that are going back to the ASC are doing so, apparently $4 million richer apiece. But for Schreiner, this represents a big leap up in competition for a program which hasn't even played a game yet! Schreiner isn't set to play a varsity game until 2026, but the Mountaineers' timeline just got altered a bit. We talk with Schreiner's head coach -- Keith Allen, the second coach in this young program's history -- about how that changes things for him, one month into his tenure. And more change in Division III this upcoming season includes, of course, the fact that there won't be nearly as many fifth-year players. That's the case all over now that the extra year of eligibility because of the COVID pandemic has largely worked its way through the system. At Coe, they'll feel the loss of two seniors classes at once, and coach Tyler Staker tells us how they'll adjust and what's expected of the student-athletes who need to step up in 2025. A lot of news happened in the past month aside from the ASC/SCAC as well, and we'll talk through it all, including the upcoming NESCAC presidents' meeting, the new Cortland coach, our soon-to-become Division III schools in Azusa Pacific and St. Francis (Pa.), and which one of those said it will dominate Division III. Plus, with two brand-new football programs coming online in the Conference of New England in the fall, where would the CONE likely rank? Stat of the Week in March? Conference rankings in March? Patrick and Greg cover it all in the latest edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

I've now made it to Cape Girardeau down on the Mississippi River. This is such beautiful section of the country and the fall colours and weather have been incredible the last few days. En route, I met Keith Allen on the river, an outdoors enthusiast, small town country lawyer, and armchair philosopher. We had a really great conversation about life and transformational change.

Tune in as Arthur's pal Robyn Zabukovec pops back up on 2CC for a discussion on Shallow Grave, the 1994 thriller that follows an obnoxious trio of British flatmates who descend into paranoia after dealing with the corpse and the big bag of money that have fallen into their laps. The black comedy that this film manages to smoothly blend in with its suspense, appreciation for onscreen blood that avoids looking too fake, the time when the cops had caught Robyn jaywalking through a blizzard, and whether it's less painful to die from the heat or from the cold comprise just some of the talking points for this episode. Directed by Danny Boyle, Shallow Grave stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston, Kerry Fox, Keith Allen, Ken Stott, Colin McCredie, Peter Mullan, Leonard O'Malley, Tony Curran, and John Hodge. Renowned for the autobiographical candour of her lyrics, Lily Allen has sung about the pitfalls of fame, drugs, broken relationships and motherhood. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for her debut album Alright Still and after the release of It's Not Me, It's You in 2010 won a Brit Award and three Ivor Novello Awards, including Songwriter of the Year. In 2021 she embarked on a stage acting career starring in 2.22 A Ghost Story, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award. More recently, with her childhood friend Miquita Oliver, she launched her BBC podcast series Miss Me.Talking to John Wilson, Lily recalls a sometimes sad and troubled childhood. Her father, the actor and comedian Keith Allen, had left the family home when she was four, and her film producer mother Alison Owen was often away working. She chooses as her first formative experiences a school concert in which she performed the song Baby Mine from the Disney movie Dumbo and captivated the audience. She recalls how the first started writing and recording her own songs, and built up a fanbase with the on-line platform MySpace. She chooses, as key musical influences the 1979 song Up The Junction by Squeeze, and the 2004 album A Grand Don't Come For Free by Mike Skinner, otherwise known as The Streets. Lily Allen also reflects on the pressures of juggling life in the spotlight with motherhood, and how theatre acting has offered her a new creative challenge.Producer: Edwina Pitman
This week's guest is a man more used to asking the questions - the writer and broadcaster Clive Anderson. A former barrister, Clive turned to comedy and wrote for the likes of Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones before gaining radio & television fame as the host of top improvisational comedy series Whose Line Is It Anyway? He then went on to present a series of chat shows and interviewed some of the biggest stars on the planet, including Spike Milligan, and it's this that we take as our starting point. Clive talks about his career and many of the shows and people he's been involved with, including WLIIA, Loose Ends, If I Ruled The World, Peter Cook, Tony Slattery, John Sessions, Graeme Garden and Keith Allen. He also talks about his reaction to the Brass Eye segment claiming he'd been shot dead by Noel Edmonds, remembers seeing Harry Secombe miming on stage and shudders as he recalls *that* interview with the Bee Gees.
Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs were back again this afternoon on the final day at Cheltenham. They found the missing Alan Brazil and were joined by actor and Fulham fan Keith Allen. We also had a thrilling Gold Cup race were Andy Jacobs was rattled at a loose horse... Enjoy ! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

(unlocked from Patreon) Today I'm joined by a special guest, the great Keith Allen Dennis, to continue our discussion about Ryōichi Sasakawa, the world's richest fascist. In this episode, we cover the Liberal Democratic Party, the Three Amigos (Kodama, Sasakawa, and Kishi), the 1955 system, and Sasakawa's ultranationalist ties. We cover Sasakawa's life from the 1950s on through into the 1990s. This includes his interactions with the Moonies and other cults like waterology, recovering looted war gold, open-air brothels, karate, and the repair of Sasakawa's reputation, such as it is. We go over the "plata o plomo" approach to Sasakawa's reputation laundering, including the long list of casualties of Sasakawa's critics, and ask the question "how much money do you have to give to become a good person?" Finally, Keith Allen Dennis leaves us with a good old fashioned ghost story. #475 The Mike That Never Was - Richard is back in the witch-burning city of Exeter and this time his guest is Comic Strip Presents legend Peter Richardson. They talk about how Peter meet Nigel Planer and invented the character of Neil, the early days of the Comic Strip in Raymonds Revue Bar, why it was a good thing that he didn't end up playing Mike in the Young Ones (though he might well be wrong about that), how he shocked Steve Martin, getting bottles of piss thrown at him by Heavy Metal fans at Donnington, his instrumental part in Stella Street and why the Comic Strip Presents about Boris Johnson never saw the light of day. Plus the lackadaisical attitudes to Health and Safety that saw him confronted by the police outside Buckingham Palace. An incredible delve into an amazing time for comedy!
