Come along with me as I head out on a 4-park adventure. That's right, I was recently at the WDW resort, and visited all 4 parks in a day. The twist this time is that I only used busses and my feet to get between the parks. Take a listen as I tell stories and wander in and out of the parks. The order of parks for me was Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and the Studios. The rationale was to catch Soarin' early in the day - and to end at the Studios for Hyperspace Hoopla (it was Star Wars Weekend). And I wanted to catch lunch at the Flame Tree, so that worked out pretty well. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

While the Star Wars Experience currently under construction at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios will no doubt be incredible, it puts Disney in an interesting transition phase. With a new Star Wars movie being released every year, fan interest at an all-time high, and Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios under major renovation, including the addition of a 14 acre Star Wars land (that’s at least 18 months away) how do you keep guests coming back? The answer is temporary Star Wars Experiences that are available every day, not just on the weekends. Of course Star Tours, including new Episode VIII footage and Jedi Training Academy have always been available, add Star Wars Launch Bay – the Star Wars reimagined Animation Building along with a “First Order March” led by Captain Phasma, a stage show/photo opportunity, “A Galaxy Far, Far Away” and a nightly fireworks “Symphony in the Stars”. This episode of Sams Disney Diary features footage from April 2016, including the stage show, Captain Phasma processional and fireworks including the dessert package. This is the “temporary fireworks” Symphony in the Stars that will be replaced by “Star Wars a Galactic Spectacular” fireworks / projection show currently under construction and scheduled to start this summer. Looks like I’ll need to plan another trip ;-) While Disney may have enough to satisfy the average Disney-Star Wars fan, for those of us who loved Star Wars Weekends, there is too much missing to fill the void. Celebrity motorcades, the 501st Legion, Stars of the Saga Talk Shows, celebrity autographs – I’m sure the new Star Wars Experience will be worth the wait, but it’s going to be a painful 2016 and 2017 as we wait for the opening. I’m not sure what I miss the most… Hyperspace Hoopla, the 501st Parade, Stars of the Saga, celebrities or maybe “James Arnold Taylor”. At least I have older episodes of Sams Disney Diary to look back on, and so do you! Be sure to check out the video in the bonus section of the app and check out the blog at www.samsdisneydiary.com

The Star Wars Weekend main stage featured the always popular and daily event finale, “Hyper Space Hoopla”. The Hoopla has been a main stay of Star Wars Weekend and is updated annually with new music and dance routines. Hyperspace Hoopla is a great way to end the day with a whimsical look at the Star Wars universe. Walt Disney World – Hollywood Studios – Star Wars Weekend, it just keeps getting bigger every year, and 2012 saw a quantum leap in changes. Updates this year (2012) include: Hyperspace Hoopla and the Padawan Mind Challenge moved to the “Event Stage”, in front of the Sorcerer Hat. Event Merchandise relocated to “Darth’s Mall” located in the courtyard between Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror… (the Courtyard, otherwise known as a cast member parking lot). The new Carbon Freeze Me Experience at the Carbon Freeze Chamber in ABC Sound Studio (Take that Sounds Dangerous) and new snacks including the Kids Power Pack (an R2D2 loaded with kid friendly snacks) and the “Darth Vader Cupcake”. I was able to experience the final weekend of Star Wars Weekend 2012 (June 8-10). There was so much to cover that it took two episodes of Sam’s Disney Diary.I did my best to capture the highlight of the event, while including the complete Celebrity Motorcade in Episode #14 and the full Hyper Space Hoopla in Episode #15.
