In this episode of the Mind Shift Podcast, Aaron McManus and Erwin Raphael McManus, dive into the theme of alignment—the idea that intimacy, generosity, and humanity must work in harmony to create a meaningful life. Building on a talk Erwin gave at the recent Mosaic gathering, the two reflect on how alignment is more than a spiritual ideal; it's a practical framework for understanding values, relationships, and purpose. They begin the episode with updates about the Mosaic community, Erwin's extensive writing journey, and their excitement for the conference. The conversation quickly returns to a concept from Dr. Henry Cloud. The triangle of persecutor, rescuer, and victim. Erwin revisits this cultural lens and introduces his own alternative triangle, with humanity at the top, supported by intimacy and generosity. This shift reframes the narrative, encouraging people to move beyond reactive postures and into proactive alignment. Drawing on demographic data from Mosaic, Erwin shares why the shift in mindset matters, especially in an urban context where financial, emotional, and spiritual challenges collide. As the dialogue deepens, Erwin opens up about the unique challenges facing Mosaic Church, particularly after the loss of their Hollywood Boulevard location. He shares the importance of recognizing who makes up the core community and how generosity often follows alignment. A powerful example is offered through a story of a couple who, after finding financial success, gave a significant gift to Mosaic—not out of obligation, but out of a deeply personal sense of alignment with their values and faith. Erwin and Aaron contrast the giving cultures of suburban megachurches and urban churches, pointing out the complexities and opportunities that come with each. The father-son duo continues exploring how alignment informs every part of life, especially the way we give. Erwin suggests that when intimacy with God is present, questions about generosity answer themselves. They unpack how our values and priorities naturally fall into place when our inner world is in sync with divine love. Aaron shares moments from his own journey, and together they challenge listeners to examine the stories they tell themselves about scarcity, abundance, and what it means to live generously in a self-centered culture. It's a call to shed limiting beliefs and embrace a mindset rooted in trust and purpose.Rounding out the episode, Erwin and Aaron shift into a series of thought-provoking discussions—on the dangers of unchecked technology, the future of AI, generational trauma, and the need for personal agency. They ponder whether AI will reflect the best or worst of humanity, and Erwin shares chilling examples like the embedded kill switches in Chinese solar panels. Despite the heavy topics, the message remains clear: while external threats exist, the greatest obstacle—and opportunity—lies within ourselves. The episode ends with a call to courage, responsibility, and forward momentum.

Pretty Woman was released in 1990. One of the most beloved and successful romantic comedies of all time, the film tells the Cinderella story of a sex worker, played by Julia Roberts, who finds love with a slick businessman - Richard Gere - after he picks her up on Hollywood Boulevard.Fast forward to 2025 and the astonishing Oscar success of Anora - director Sean Baker's tale of a young sex worker whose whirlwind affair with a Russian billionaire's son turns bad, fast.So how has the way we treat sex work on screen changed? Ellen E Jones and Mark Kermode delve into the long and thorny relationship between cinema and sex work. Mark speaks to film historian and critic Pamela Hutchinson about how sex work has been tackled in over a hundred years of movies - from early silent films like Pandora's Box, to the work of Sean Baker. They discuss Jane Fonda's Oscar-winning turn as a ‘call girl' in Klute, and look at how male sex worker films like Midnight Cowboy might approach the subject differently. Meanwhile, Ellen talks to Andrea Werhun, the writer, performer and real-life sex worker who served as a consultant on Anora - about her work on the film, and her love for another Richard Gere sex work film, American Gigolo. And Ellen also speaks to Kristen Lovell and Zachary Drucker, whose 2023 documentary The Stroll traced the history of trans sex workers in New York City's Meatpacking District. Kristen and Zachary discuss why sex work has been a key part of trans history - and what they think Anora's success means for sex workers. A bursting moment of electricity, the well intentioned first version of World music, and working in the Roosevelt Hotel Lobby 4-5 nights a week for 3 hours a night. Jacob Faulkner (LA LOM, The Americans) Los Angeles League of Musicians Album (Videos)- https://www.youtube.com/playlist "LA LOM In the vibrant tapestry of Los Angeles's music scene, LA LOM stands out for its ability to seamlessly weave together the diverse genres and cultures of the city into its music. Short for The Los Angeles League of Musicians, LA LOM is composed of LA natives Zac Sokolow (Guitar), Jake Faulkner (Bass), and Nicholas Baker (Drums/Percussion). The roots of LA LOM reach back to 2019, when the band was assembled to play five nights a week in the lobby of the historic Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. Initially tasked with providing background music for hotel patrons, tourists, and passersby off the street, LA LOM soon began experimenting with a genre-transcending repertoire that reflects the diverse musical diaspora of Angelenos. LA LOM started out reimagining instrumental renditions of the soulful ballads from the 1950s and '60s that they grew up listening to on LA's oldies station, K-EARTH 101, evoking the laid-back aesthetic that defines the region, and drawing inspiration from luminaries like Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, and Brenda and the Tabulations. Their sonic palette expanded to encompass the romantic allure of classic Mexican Boleros and the Cumbia Sonidera woven into the very fabric of the city's soundscape, resonating through the streets from car stereos, backyard parties, and lively dance halls. LA LOM carved out a sound that blends all of these elements with the guitar-driven twang of Peruvian Chicha and Bakersfield Country. Zac Sokolow's musical lineage spans generations. He began his creative journey performing alongside his father, a respected figure in LA's bluegrass community, whose family relocated from Buenos Aires to LA in the 1930s. Jake Faulkner comes from a family of Venice artists and met Zac at age 16. Zac and Jake honed their craft through years of collaboration in various bands within Southern California's vibrant Rockabilly scene before eventually joining to form LA LOM. Nicholas Baker was steeped in Latin music from childhood by his grandmother, who hailed from a musical family in Durango, Mexico, and gained fame as a DJ on a Spanish-language radio station in Tucson, Arizona. He studied Latin percussion with renowned Nuyorican bassist and percussionist Roberto Miranda. LA LOM have quickly ascended to playing to thousands of people and have captured the attention of Beck, Vampire Weekend and Zane Lowe."

It's Friday, January 10th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslims block construction of church in Indonesia Muslims in Indonesia said they will sue Catholic leaders to prevent completion of a church building after months of construction, reports Morning Star News. The St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bandung, the capital of West Java Province, obtained building permits. However, attorneys for area residents claim they were granted through improper means and without their permission. Christians in Indonesia say they are routinely pressured to make extra payments known as “grease” – essentially a bribe -- to local officials or residents in order to obtain construction permits in the 83% Muslim country. In John 15:18, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first.” Judge temporarily blocks release of DOJ report on Trump case In America, Aileen Cannon, a Trump-appointed judge, ruled that special counsel Jack Smith's report on the federal classified document case against President-elect Donald Trump cannot be released pending more court proceedings, reports NewsNationNow.com. The move came after Trump's attorneys demanded that Attorney General Merrick Garland leave the release of the report up to the incoming administration. Back in July, Judge Cannon dismissed the classified documents case against Trump. She said Smith was illegally appointed. Smith's report was expected to be released “imminently” before objections by Trump's attorneys, saying the report would be “one-sided.” Trump wants Panama Canal back At a recent press conference in Mar-a-Lago, President-elect Trump outlined why he believes America should get the Panama Canal back. The 51-mile waterway, which was completed by America  in 1914, connects the Caribbean Sea with the Pacific Ocean. It cuts across the narrowest point of Panama. The Panama Canal shortcut greatly reduces the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, enabling them to avoid the lengthy, hazardous route around the southernmost tip of South America. In 1914, 1,000 ships went through the Panama Canal.  By 2012 however, more than 815,000 ships used the waterway shortcut. TRUMP: “The Panama Canal was built for our military. Look, the Panama Canal is vital to our country. It's being operated by China. China!  And we gave the Panama Canal to Panama. We didn't give it to China. They've abused that gift. It should have never been made, by the way. “Giving the Panama Canal is why Jimmy Carter lost the election, in my opinion, more so maybe, than the hostages. The hostages were a big deal. It's a bad part of the Carter legacy. He was a very fine person, but that was a big mistake. We lost 38,000 people. It cost us the equivalent of a trillion dollars.” Gary Bauer, President of American Values, wrote, “Panama is likely in violation of the treaty it made with us when we handed over control of the canal. The treaty mandates that nothing be done at the canal that threatens America's security. But Panama has allowed communist China to gain footholds on both ends of the canal. Trump's strong language is what a president should say, which is why Joe Biden hasn't said it.” California fires claimed 2,000 buildings and 5 lives Many images of wildfire devastation coming over the newswires made the City of Angels look every bit like Hades: raging infernos, charred skeletal remains of homes, a smoke-filled sky, and weeping residents, notes The Hollywood Reporter. According to the Los Angeles Times, firefighters battled multiple blazes overnight as whipping winds, with gusts up to 100 miles per hour, fueled three major wildfires. The Palisades Fire burned more than 15,800 acres and numerous homes, businesses and landmarks in Pacific Palisades. It reached westward along the Pacific Coast Highway, toward Malibu. The Eaton Fire burned more than 10,000 acres and many structures in Altadena and Pasadena. And the Sunset Fire exploded around 5:45 p.m. yesterday and appeared to be burning south toward Hollywood Boulevard. More than 2,000 homes, businesses and other buildings have been damaged or destroyed and at least five people have died. Plus, 30,000 people evacuated their homes. Actor James Woods saves 94-year-old man in fire with phone call Appearing on CNN, actor James Woods tells a providential story about the fire. WOODS: “We have a neighbor who is 94 years old, who has dementia. I said there were no cars on the driveway. We would go over to help him get in his chair, you know, sometime, if he fell, with the caregiver. But I knew he was in the hospital. “God was on his side. I decided to call his son in Massachusetts and said, ‘Hey, Francis, just to be sure, your dad's still in the hospital, right?' He said, ‘No, he got home last night, and there's a new caregiver, and I don't have the number.' “They wouldn't let us back up. So, I finally got through to 9-1-1, and said, ‘You gotta go check on this guy.' I call my neighbor, who hadn't evacuated yet. He was on his roof, fighting his fire. I said, ‘Go in and check on him.' He went. He said, ‘The door's open, there's nobody here.' He went in and yelled. He said, ‘No, nobody here.' I said, ‘Look, just go behind the pantry. There's a little room. We can see him during the day. He likes to sit there because there's a garden. “He went in and found him. He'd been left alone. And it turned out the fire department made the new caregiver leave, and they said, ‘We're coming back for him.' Well, they hadn't come back for him. I'm hoping that they would have but, you know, there was so much chaos. “It was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us, and he got him out, and the house burned down about an hour later.” Psalm 138:7 says, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life.” With a broken heart, Woods revealed that his own house was consumed by flames after he evacuated. WOODS: “At 11:49 last night, all the smoke alarms in our house alerted our phones that our house that we had just renovated for three years and had just finally moved into about three months ago. You know, all the smoke alarms are going off, so that's hardly [gets emotional] a good sign. “So, I'm I'm not sure, but it it wouldn't make any difference, because, you know, the whole street's burned down. So, I mean, even if you go back to your home. We were out on our driveway. I looked at the smoke was so black. It was a house across the street was on fire. The house next door is on fire.” McDonalds abandons woke DEI policies, embraces “Golden Rule” And finally, fast food giant McDonald's is the latest major corporation to distance itself from the woke “diversity, equity, and inclusion” policies. Instead, they want to emphasize the “Golden Rule,” reports LifeSiteNews.com. Matthew 7:12 says, “"In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” The Associated Press reports that McDonalds plans to abandon specific diversity targets for senior leadership, end a program aimed at diversity training for suppliers, and pause participation in “external surveys,” such as those conducted by the radical homosexual pressure group called the Human Rights Campaign. McDonald's cited the “shifting legal landscape” after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that race-based affirmative action was unconstitutional in 2023 as contributing to the changes. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck, who has successfully pressured other companies to reverse woke policies, said he had informed McDonald's that he planned to release a report on them as well. [SEGMENT 1-1] Democrats are mad – Ms Universe Their world has fallen apart. And only in some dystopian world would an American see the election of Trump over Harris as a bad thing. But Democrats view life through a distorted lens. So for example, Democrats watched the outcome of the Ms Universe pageant and grabbed their go-bags and prepared for the Zombie apocalypse. All because a blonde-haired, blue-eyed stunningly gorgeous white biological woman from Denmark won the contest. How is that even POSSIBLE, they must be asking themselves. First Trump wins, now THIS?! What is going on in the tortured world of Leftist when a gorgeous white bona fide woman of the white persuasion can win a beauty pageant over a cross-dressing trans-sexual Guatemalan midget?” This is NOT the world they signed up for. And what about this Trump Dance that's sweeping the continent? It's being done by people all over the world. I watched a world-class soccer player do it, and far worse, I watched an ABORTION AGE biological female golfer Charley Hull do the Trump dance walking up the 18th fairway. Apparently with a 2-shot lead she felt comfortable that Democrats couldn't cheat her out of the win. There was a big controversy when Trump had McDonald's served on his plane, and his HHS Secretary nominee RFK Jr was said to have eaten a Big Mac and fries. But that was only part of the controversy, as apparently the bigger surprise is that Kamala Harris actually served them the meal, fulfilling her obligation. And maybe on a private bet between her and The Donald? Lots to discuss today, Peeps. All areas of this corrupt government are under attack by Trump. I was thinking of a perfume name for Trump. Triumph – The sweet smell of victory—Unmistakably Trump! Voiceover (Deep, commanding tone):"When the dust settles, and the weak have fallen, there remains one unstoppable force: Victory." Final Scene:Trump sprays the perfume in slow motion. Behind him, a massive, gleaming wall rises from the earth, inscribed with the word "WINNING." Eagles soar overhead as fireworks light up the sky. Close-Up on Bottle:Gold-plated, with a bold "T" logo and the phrase, "The Essence of a Legend." Voiceover Ends:" Triumph. The fragrance of always Winning." End Screen:Trump smirks into the camera, saying,"Because losing? That's for them."              [SEGMENT 1-2] Democrats are mad 2 - illegals     In breaking news, Tom Homan announced a 20-year ban from the US if illegals don't self-deport. They won't even be able to get a tourist visa. That's one way to get MASS DEPORTATION. [X] SB – Tom Homan on self-deportation [X] SB – Tom Homan schools AOC  [SEGMENT 1-3] Democrats are mad 3 – World turned upside down Did I call it the other day. How Trump will get his appointments made.   [X] SB – Man explains bureaucracy of government The man won, and he can pick his people. Look at the freak show of the Biden administration and ask me should we negotiate on Trump's picks. Democrats should be ashamed of Joe Biden's administration picks.   Rumor is that Matt Gaetz will reveal the names of the people on Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam's list. Dave McCormick defeated Bob Casey in PA, and the Republicans officially have another Senate seat. The PA Supreme Court ordered the vote counting STOPPED. See how that works, Republicans. GA Court of Appeals abruptly canceled oral arguments in Fani Willis Trump RICO case… Biden wants WWIII to hand over to Trump, and he told Russia that he wants discussions with them and Ukraine immediately…more to come. Congratulations are in order: CNN is the first network to have more employees than viewers. Fact-check that, but I hear that's true.  [SEGMENT 1-4] Democrats are mad 4 - Hollyweirdos   Democrats have a lot of people to blame for their losses. Pelosi is under fire for the massive loss, and she is in danger of sent on walkabout… Hakeem Jeffries, light-skin brotha is being looked at harshly White women who voted for Trump… Black and Latino men.. But there is another culprit…Hollyweird and other entertainers   [X] SB – Woman to Hollyweirdos   Why are these celebrity declarations even a thing?   Too bad we can't send the FBI to raid the houses of all the dumb ass Leftists who promised to leave if Trump was elected. And with a "kill order" like Biden issued for Trump. I don't want anybody hurt just because they disagreed with about 80 million Americans who voted for Trump. But I wouldn't mind seeing a few of them sh*t their pants if the FBI came in "hard". Do we even have enough https://theblacksphere.net/2023/12/insights-fbi-agent-targeted-trump-russian-collusion-sent-to-prison/? If we don't now, we will soon. Because soon-to-be former FBI Director Wray can recall the agents who've been surveilling Conservative parents at school board meetings. But I digress. Where are the stars who pushed all in for Kamala Harris? I'd say that De Niro is keeping a low profile, but then again without his massive lifts, De Niro has no choice but to keep a low profile. Warning Hollywood: be on the lookout for a barefoot five-foot guy walking on Hollywood Boulevard mumbling about his dreams and aspirations. And what about the man who campaigned briskly for Harris, but https://theblacksphere.net/2024/11/check-out-the-leftist-notables-who-have-not-donated-to-harris/?

For decades, Hollywood Boulevard has been marketed to the world as a glamorous and sophisticated place. But the reality of contemporary Hollywood Boulevard is very different. In this episode we bring you the strange story of Kimberly Sue Doss, who, at the age of 14, vanished whilst travelling home to her mother in Houston, Texas. Her disappearance is a mystery that has plagued her loved ones for over forty years. Kimberly's parents were separated and she split her time between Texas and Iowa. Uprooting her life several times a year was putting a strain on her relationships so, one day in February, 1980, she ran away from home. Kimberly said she was getting a ride to school but instead, she took a bus to Davenport, where her father resided. In all truth, she preferred living in Houston but her closest friends, as well as her boyfriend, were in the Hawkeye State. Before long however, Kimberly grew tired of life as a runaway and contacted her mother, telling her she was coming back. The last time anyone heard from her, was a phone call explaining that she had met a girl named Kathy on the bus and would be staying with her during her stopover in Chicago. Kimberly never made it home. This episode hears from Kimberly's sister Schelly, who explains the devastating impact her younger sibling's absence has had on her family. She takes us through the wild theories that erupted in the wake of Kimberly's disappearance, such as the suggestion that she was now living as a prostitute on Hollywood Boulevard and explains how the authorities mismanagement of missing person databases, impeded the search for her sister. Aquarium Drunkard - SIDECAR (TRANSMISSIONS) - Podcast

Sometimes, background music moves to the foreground. That's the case with today's guests, guitarist Zac Sokolow, bassist Jake Faulkner, and drummer Nicholas Baker. Together, they form LA LOM, short for the Los Angeles League of Musicians. In 2019, they were hired to bring suitably vibey music to the lobby of the historic Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. Employing a rotating cast of guest players, they filled the air with twangy cumbias, boleros, chicha, and reverberating Bakersfield-style twang. Eventually people began taking notice, as vivid performances clips began to go viral.  On this week's all new episode of Transmissions, the trio joins us to discuss their self-titled debut album. Though La Lom first came to prominence for its covers, the new outing presents all original material, which ranges from Latin shuffles to cinematic noir soundscapes and soulful ballads. Released by legendary jazz label Verve, it represents the start of a new chapter for La Lom. Fresh off the road from opening for Vampire Weekend, Zac, Jake, and Nicholas join us for a conversation about the music past and present, the allure of late night radio, covering Selena, and so much more. We had the pleasure of interviewing The Wild Things over Zoom video!Fast-rising UK quartet The Wild Things have released “Drunk Again”, the lead single from their sophomore LP Afterglow, set for release later in 2024. Co-produced by Pete Townshend, “Drunk Again” is the perfect soundtrack to a night out at the local dive and further cements The Wild Things as one of rock's most exciting young acts.Anchored by a twangy lick from guitarist Rob Kendrick and vocalist Sydney Rae White's powerful voice, “Drunk Again” is the latest punchy offering from a group with seemingly endless potential. The forthcoming Afterglow record will be an immersive choose-your-own-adventure concept record that tells the story of the residents of the fictional town of Valentine amidst a paranormal phenomenon.Already a critical favorite (they have been profiled by Kerrang! who declared them “your favorite new band”, Clash who said they are “blazing a trail across London, with their snappy, infectious live show,” and Rolling Stone who praised “their hook-laden riffs, tight melodies, and White's stage presence”), “Drunk Again” demonstrates The Wild Things' voracious appetite for power chords, sing-along choruses, and the gripping storytelling of their creative heroes (Pete Townshend, Spielberg, etc). They may sound straight out of the 70s, but The Wild Things are turning their amps up to 11 for a whole new generation of rock and roll fans.Having honed their live show with high-profile opening gigs for The Who (their first-ever US show was at Madison Square Garden) and KISS, “Drunk Again” builds on the momentum of their recent Friends With Benefits EP (which featured KISS' Tommy Thayer). Recorded at Pete Townshend's London studio, the track notably features the legendary guitarist playing a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ - the very same instrument that appears on “Baba O'Riley”. At the end of the sessions, Townshend gifted the organ to the band…a symbolic passing of the torch from one generation to the next. It's been a busy 2024 for The Wild Things, whose Friends With Benefits EP featured appearances by Townshend, KISS' Tommy Thayer, and drag legend Trixie Mattel. In true Rock n Roll fashion, the band celebrated the release by performing atop a bus traveling down Hollywood Boulevard in LA, before taking the stage at The Bourbon Room in Hollywood for a high-octane free performance in front of their adoring stateside fans. The Wild Things are Sydney Rae White, Rob Kendrick, Pete Wheeler, and Cam White. We want to hear from you! Maybe the production values aren't the best, and maybe the story is grittier than most, but these little gems have provided hours of viewing pleasure to so many. These films also had great leading men in them. Studly, sturdy, reliable actors who might not be GARY COOPER or CARY GRANT or CLARK GABLE, but were handsome and talented and knew how to beat up the bad guys and win over the lovely leading lady. As an homage to the leading men of the B's, this week, we'll take a look at the lives an careers of five of our favorites. This week, Bryan and Dave get real sleazy with it and take a good long look at Angel, from 1984. Starring Donna Wilkes and a cast of wild character actors, including Susan Tyrrell in her second appearance on their podcast, Angel sets out to be a grimy exploitation movie that casts the seedy underbelly of the Hollywood Boulevard nightlife against the hard neon glow of the Los Angeles dream factory but it's a movie so in love with its oddball weirdo characters that it seems to struggle against the mandate to deliver violence, nudity, and cheap thrills, choosing instead to be a vehicle which provides its cast with all the scenery that they care to chew on. Make no mistake. Angel is garbage but it's remarkably lovable garbage that everyone should see. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bring-me-the-axe/message
