Tuhan mengutus Yunus ke Niniwe untuk mengingatkan penduduk kota itu agar mereka bertobat, tetapi Yunus justru ke Yafo, lalu berlayar ke Tarsis untuk menjauhi tugas itu, bahkan untuk menjauh dari Tuhan.
