Andor's second season second episode is not the Episode V of the first story block that takes us through stories in BBY 4. It's not Episode VIII or Episode II either. "Sagrona Teema" is really like the "rehearsal dinner father of the bride" toast. Everyone knows about the one coming from the best man tomorrow, but it's still important that dear old dad gets his say. There is a first impressions podcast already out and a S1E1 episode recap and discussion as well. In this one, there's Cassian continuing his leadership in captivity, Kleya returning to HQ to listen to galactic radio waves, Vel and Mon taking a hike, Luthen getting suspicious, Tay getting crazy, and monsters lurking everywhere...even in a sensible Coruscant apartment.S2E3 will get the recap and discussion treatment at a later date, but life events at This is the Way HQ have made things tricky this week. If you have an episode specific comment, email it to the address we reveal in our podcasts and put the particular episode in the subject line. This week we look at the characterisation of Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi - including its consistency with prior depictions and the controversy, and provide our thoughts on how he was handled in Episode VIII. Following the release of Rogue One, the second installment in Disney's sequel trilogy was set to come out one year later. Instead of JJ Abrams at the helm, Rian Johnson was the man in charge both directing the installment and earning a sole writing credit. Episode VIII was marketed as you would expect and made well over one billion at the box office, again to no one's surprise. What was a surprise was the actual film itself. Despite a large critical consensus and a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences and fans were left divided. Divided is an undersell as the internet was set ablaze in fervent discussions between defenders and detractors. How do we fall in the spectrum? Is this the show that will cause the largest fights ever heard on our airwaves? Enjoy and join us next week as we delve into Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Accompanying the announcement of Disney purchasing Lucasfilm came two developments on the future of Star Wars. The first was that a new trilogy would be released in theaters every two years. The second, a far more interesting story, was that each off year would see a new spinoff type of film be released. Disney had it and was set to ensure we'd see a galaxy far far away in multiplexes every year. The first of these offshoot films was Rogue One. Detailing the events of how an offshoot of the Rebel Alliance obtained the Death Star plans, it was set to come out in 2016. What followed was shall we say some interesting production notes. Those definitely didn't deter moviegoers as it cleaned up nicely in the Winter of 2016. How do the boys feel about this first entry in the "stories" sidefilms of Star Wars? Tune in and come back next week for Episode VIII.

Maverick, Sean, and Andrew review and debate the merits of Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi. The main themes discussed include the character development of Poe Dameron, the portrayal of legacy and legends, and the roles of Admiral Holdo and Princess Leia. The hosts have differing opinions on the execution of these themes and the overall quality of the film. In this part of the conversation, the principal themes discussed are the character development of Poe, the motivations and character arc of Rey, and the portrayal of Kylo Ren as a conflicted villain. The conversation explores how Poe's character could have been better developed if Princess Leia had died, allowing him to see the consequences of his actions. The lack of explanation for Rey's motivation to become a Jedi is highlighted, as well as the missed opportunity to explore her character's identity and desires. The discussion also delves into Kylo Ren's desire to emulate Darth Vader and his conflicting beliefs about destroying the past. Overall, the conversation provides insights into the character arcs and themes of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. In this part of the conversation, the focus is on the character of Kylo Ren and his arc of destruction. It is discussed how Kylo Ren tries to destroy the past and recreate things in his own image, but in the process, he reaffirms the Sith way. The conversation then shifts to the portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the film and the debate surrounding his character. Some argue that Luke's actions and decisions go against his established character, while others believe that his experiences and trauma justify his behavior. The ending of the film, with Luke disappearing and the conflict between him and Kylo Ren, is also discussed.----------Highlights:0:00 Introduction to "Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi"4:32 Exploring Poe Dameron16:45 Exploring the Themes of Legacy and Legends21:24 The Roles of Admiral Holdo and Princess Leia26:45 Arguing Over Rey48:23 Kylo Ren: Emulating Darth Vader and Conflicting Beliefs 1:03:14 The Debate Over Luke Skywalker's Character1:18:22 The Ending: Luke's Disappearance and the Conflict1:23:28 Pointless Expansion of the Universe1:30:28 Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi's Impact----------Show Notes:9 Points Rating System: https://www.alostplot.com/9-points/Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens Review: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/maverick51411/episodes/2024-04-10T17_51_27-07_00Starwars #episode8 #starwars8 #thelastjedi #alostplot #kyloren #lukeskywalker #rey #reyskywalker #snoke #palpatine #admiralholdo #holdomaneuver #gambling #finn #rose #dissapointment #debate #bothsides #makingthecase #poedameron #darthvader #characterarc #sith #jedi #skywalker #princessleia #legacy #legends
We are sharing in this episode in a direct meeting with Master Teacher the second part of the video presentation "The Story Of A Course In Miracles - The Search For Jesus Of Nazareth", of Episode VIII, in which he offers us the teaching of Christ Jesus in the demonstration of the teaching of Eternal Life is our Reality and none from the self-containing thoughts which make up the concept of the self. We join with him in the recognition that He did not die, and that we are the resurrection and the Life, as He Is. ◊ We are using Part 1 of the Master Teacher's video SCM-04b of the The Story of A Course In Miracles Series, -- The Story Of A Course In Miracles - The Search For Jesus Of Nazareth, Chapter VIII --- https://themasterteacher.tv/video/catalogue/volume-two/the-story-of-a-course-in-miracles-series/SCM-04b.YouTube: https://youtu.be/THe4XT04hnA
In this episode, Kiri discusses the character development of Padmé, Leia, and Rey throughout the Star Wars saga. She reflects on Padmé's strength and leadership in Episode I, her softer side and romantic relationship in Episode II, and her disappointment with her reduced role in Episode III. An absolutely storming episode of Andor, and Tom's here to talk about it, along with 'What's That Song', and the Battle of Crait from Episode VIII!
Mark reaches out with his feelings — mostly anger — as he tries to figure out what makes The Last Jedi so frustrating, how the climax ended up in the wrong place, and why a story about rebels tells us we should just do as we're told, dammit. https://markoveranalysesfilm.buzzsprout.com/https://twitter.com/overanalysefilmhttps://markoveranalysesfilm.buzzsprout.com/https://www.markoveranalysesstory.com/https://twitter.com/overanalysefilm

How about that? A new writer comes in and the story gets better. That's not magic. That's just someone with better storytelling skills helping turn out the best episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi yet. "Best" is certainly a relative term, but when you have Vader being awesome, Obi-Wan and Anakin dueling once again and revenge on Reva instead of the other way around, it's bound to be better than at least the last two segments of stories in this limited series. There's echoes and tone poems and rhyming of story beats galore. I wonder if George Lucas likes everything he sees or if bathing in billions isn't the panacea for caring about his creation I believe it to be. The appropriate way to express the mood of This is the Way Podcast after Part Five is to say it was enjoyable. What isn't different this week compared to last week is that there is still the possibility that Disney could ruin things. I mean, it doesn't REALLY matter too much because I'm still going to watch. I'll always be a Star Wars fan. Heck, I even saw Episode VIII in the theaters…twice. For once in our lives, it's actually kind of obvious what this week in pop culture has been all about.Star Wars's Episode VIII -- the ninth live-action Star Wars movie -- is out. The Last Jedi officially opens today, and it's projected to take in nearly half a billion dollars this weekend. The Nose stayed up late last night to catch a midnight showing. Or something like that. And this week saw what is quite possibly the world's first viral short story. The New Yorker's "Cat Person" happens to be about just the right topic at just the right cultural moment. Perhaps not surprisingly, some men are missing the point.Support the show: http://www.wnpr.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
