On this special edition of the "Big Fight Weekend Preview" podcast, our Dan Rafael scored a one on one conversation with Regis Prograis, who will battle Jose Zepeda in Las Vegas this Saturday night for the vacant WBC Jr. welterweight world title.Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs), 33, a southpaw from New Orleans, won the WBA title by sixth-round knockout of Kiryl Relikh during the World Boxing Series tournament in April 2019 but lost it by majority decision to Taylor in his first defense, a unification fight in the October 2019 tournament final.Prograis has wanted another title shot since and been vocal about it, especially when he was initially passed over to fight for the vacant WBC and WBA belts. Since the loss to Taylor, Prograis has won three fights in a row, all by knockout. Most recently, he stopped Tyrone McKenna in the sixth round on March 19 in Dubai.Zepeda (35-2, 27 KOs), 33, a southpaw from La Puente, California, will be getting his third title shot. Besides the disputed loss to Ramirez, he suffered a dislocated left shoulder that caused a second-round stoppage loss to Terry Flanagan for the vacant WBO lightweight title in 2015.Zepeda is riding a five-fight winning streak, including a highlight-reel fifth-round knockout of former titlist Ivan Baranchyk in the unforgettable 2020 fight of the year in which they were each knocked down four times and there were knockdowns in every round. In his most recent fight, Zepeda crushed Josue Vargas in the first round in October.Their bout will stream Saturday night through MarvNation PP, Fite TV and PPV.com.Make sure you are following/subscribing to the Big Fight Weekend podcast feed for great content like this on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, etc.!!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/big-fight-weekend/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We open the show with a big night in boxing Saturday.  We saw the return of Terrence Crawford put on a clinic against Felix Diaz on HBO.  Also Raymundo Beltran got back on the winning way in a dominant fashion on the undercard.  Showtime put on a huge four hour show that didn't disapoint as well.  Geovonta Davis made short work over the hometown fighter Liam Walsh in the opener of the split show.  Stateside we saw a terrible decision between Rances Barthelemy and Kiryl Relikh, a few arrests made in the Andre Dirrell vs Jose Uzcateugi after the chaos that insued showing a post match assault, a fighter in protection, and a uncle on the run.  Thankfully we had a fantastic Main Event between Gary Russell Jr. and Oscar Escandon.   We also breakdown the NBA and NHL playoffs from the rollercoaster they have been.  Rollercoaster being the bad in NBA to the great in the NHL.  It seems a Warriors vs Cavs is for sure, and potentially Predators vs Penguins.   Speaking of NBA, we breakdown thoughts heading into the draft, free agency, what some teams can do to get to the next level, and also mostly just another reason for Ryan to brag how his Lakers kept their pick, and his #fallforball has worked. Tonight, we are live at 10pm CST, digging into our NFL coverage as we begin with the AFC South again this year.  We speak at the top of the second hour with Crissy Froyd from http://titanswire.usatoday.com talking all things Tennessee Titans football.  We breakdown their draft, offseasons moves, and how they can contend for the division this year. All this and more tonight with the team on Sportsast Radio! This podcast is sponsored by Anchor
