Send us Fan MailA quiet bar, a loud table, and a WBA title fight playing perfectly in the background somehow turns into one of our favorite kinds of nights: real-time boxing takes, bad bets, and then the sober rewatch that changes everything. We break down Teofimo Lopez vs Rolly Romero from the chaos of fight night to the clarity of replay, including the moment Teo gets clipped in the fifth and the decision-making that separates a top-level champion from a dangerous spoiler. The deeper story is Teo's fundamentals. We get into the details that don't always show up in the highlight clips: the jab to the chest and arms to freeze a bigger opponent, the way Teo controls distance without wasting punches, and what the CompuBox numbers say about his approach. We also talk about Rolly's path to victory, why it felt possible for a second, and why it disappears when the pressure doesn't carry into the late rounds. Then we zoom out to the part of boxing that drives fans crazy: sanctioning bodies, “regular” belts, and mandatory challengers that can stall the fights people actually want. We debate what should be next for Teofimo Lopez, why names like Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney matter for the division, and whether Tank Davis can really be the face of boxing without staying active. If you care about boxing politics, judging, and real fight analysis, you'll feel right at home.THE SPAR-INN ON YOUTUBE

Despite all the noise reverberating from the negotiations between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury – noise that, unfortunately, we must address – a meaningful, and potentially pivotal, heavyweight title clash occurs this weekend when Moses Itauma duels with Filip Hrgovic. Will this be the fight when we see Itauma truly tested or, as the oddsmakers suggest, will it be another one-sided triumph for the 21-year-old? And if Itauma does indeed do what is expected and win convincingly, will he then be able to cope with the pressure of being the youngest heavyweight belt-holder since the heady days of Mike Tyson's peak? Last weekend, George Liddard aced his latest test when he became the European middleweight champion and, in the States, Teofimo Lopez was handed a get-out-of-jail-free card by Rolly Romero. We bring you an update on Ringside Charitable Trust, and you can access their website here, before hurtling back to 2013 and the night when cult hero Jhonny Gonzalez marmalized Abner Mares inside one round. What do we want? AJ vs. Fury! Where do want it? At this point, who cares… Dana White this week came out and revealed he's brokered the TV and site deals for Joshua vs. Fury but the old problem remains: Both fighters signed contracts with different locations, dates, and terms. Whether it happens or not, we are getting to the point of no return for this heavyweight showdown that, frankly, should already be in the past. It's an interesting discussion, though. What does the future for boxing really look like? Can Moses Itauma, for example, ever become a crossover star if he's forced to fight behind hard-to-find paywalls from this point forth? Furthermore, what becomes of the sport at grassroots level if only those that are already in full bloom are getting any water? Claressa Shields reminded of her star power at the weekend even if her opponent, Kaye Scott, was overmatched and outclassed from the start. We look ahead to Rolly Romero vs. Teofimo Lopez which undoubtedly is a good fight. But on what planet is it a PPV fight? Finally, we go back to 2016 and the contest that arguably signalled the start of Errol Spence Jnr's peak: The beatdown of the gnarled Leonard Bundu in Coney Island, New York. We are back and ready to go with a women's world title main event in Atlanta Saturday and the flamboyant Teofimo Lopez looks to rebound from being routed in his last fight in January and he joins us to discuss his welterweight title next weekend. It's all part of the "Big Fight Weekend Preview Poecast!"Host T.J. Rives and insider Dan Rafael of his Fight Freaks Unite Substack and Newsletter return.First, they preview Saturday's Salita Promotions DAZN card in AtlantaKaye Scott vs. Claressa Shields, 10 rounds, for Scott's WBC/WBAwomen's middleweight title. Shields is arguably the best female fighter in the sport but this fight is an apparent joke matchup for her. We go into the "why" on this one. In the co feature- Ernesto “Tito” Mercado vs. Emmanuel Tagoe, 10 rounds, junior welterweights. Mercado has potential but has had lots of promotional problems and not been that active.Next, the guys recap Wednesday's Matchroom Boxing DAZN main event in Broadbeach, AustraliaHeavyweight hopeful Teremoana Teremoana (12-0, 12 KOs), 2024 Australian Olympian, in his first main event, blew away seemingly petrified DeAndre Savage by second-round knockout. Teremoana needs rounds and better opponents. Then, it's former junior welterweight and lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez talking to Dan. He moves up to welterweight to challenge WBA titlist and good friend Rolando Romero on August 22 on DAZN PPV at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Next, some newsThe death of former welterweight up-and-comer Prichard Colon, who suffered a severe brain injury in an Oct. 17, 2015 PBC bout on NBC TV .Colon was 33, as his father announced his death on Thursday on social media. Dan remembers vividly what happened and covering the aftermath for years. Also, Dan is reporting on the three-belt unification fight between WBO/IBF junior lightweight titlist Emanuel Navarrete and WBC titleholder O'Shaquie Foster being in the works but not done. Although, Top Rank Boxing has a probable date and a site on hold. We like this fight, but will it happen.More Dan reporting on a possible Vasily Lomachenko opponent when he exits an over two year retirement later this year. And, former two-time heavyweight titleholder Hasim Rahman, who is 53 and been retired since 2014, had his license denied by the New York commission and the comeback fight planned for Aug. 18 was canceled but now his team has announced a different fight for next month in Hammond, Indiana, where the commission sucks and it's way easier to get a license. Send us Fan MailBoxing doesn't change because fans argue online, it changes when the business forces fighters to pick a direction. We start with Devin Haney facing a real crossroads: negotiate the WBO mandatory with Keyshawn Davis, risk a purse bid, or vacate and chase a bigger moment. We talk through what each option signals, why timing matters, and why a “dangerous fight” isn't always the same as a “sellable fight.” Then we get into the matchup boxing fans keep demanding: Haney vs Shakur Stevenson at 144. We break down the style clash, the weight talk, and the core question of how rounds get won when both guys are elite technicians. We also address what Shakur has shown lately on the front foot, why his accuracy changes the scoring optics, and what the Ryan Garcia fight did to the public conversation around Haney's defense and durability. From there, it's the big headline: Shakur Stevenson signing with Zuffa Boxing. In this episode, Lukie and Dakota start with the news. Four-division titleholder Shakur Stevenson signed with Zuffa Boxing. With rumors that Oleksandr Usyk and Devin Haney may sign with Zuffa, is the takeover imminent? What are the guys' thoughts on this? Then, we shift to PBC announcing a deal with DAZN, which would have seemed unheard of before this year. Is this a direct response to Zuffa Boxing? They announced a few fights (without official fight dates), but in August WBA welterweight champ Rolando Romero will face Teofimo Lopez. The guys give early thoughts on this fight. The guys recap a very light week of boxing. Murat Gassiev stopped late-sub Peter Kadiru in six rounds. Kadiru filled in for Gassiev's original opponent, 2016 French Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka, but was outgunned. Also, Artem Suslenkov stopped former contender Joe Joyce in what should be Joyce's last pro fight. The ending was very sad. Then, we look ahead. Another light week of boxing.Super middleweight Diego Pacheco faces Immanuwel Aleem. It is a DAZN main event bout, and the return of boxing to the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Lightweight Andy Cruz will face Abraham Montoya, after his original opponent, Albert Bell, fought Abdullah Mason on short notice earlier this month. Middleweight Frank Espinoza and lightweight Sammy Contreras Jr are notable prospects to watch, but a good 50-50 fight to watch for is Saul Sanchez vs. unbeaten Bruno Rios. Heavyweight Leo Atang is someone I keep wondering just how good he is, too. In the U.K., welterweight Harlem Eubank is in tough against David Papot, and on ProBox TV an assortment of fights including Bryan Flores vs. Jonathan Navarro, junior middleweight Kevin Anton vs. Vladimir Hernandez, and Charly Suarez vs. Manuel "Tino" Avila.Timestamps:0:00 Shakur to Zuffa Boxing12:03 PBC to DAZN20:55 Teofimo Lopez vs Rolando Romero29:30 Joe Joyce, Murat Gassiev40:00 Diego Pacheco returns46:40 undercard56:37 Other stuff

Then we do what we came to do and start catching up fast. From there, we dig into Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman for the WBC super welterweight belt, why Thurman looked like a guy fighting uphill from round one, and what inactivity does to timing and legs when you're no longer the young version of yourself. We talk matchups at 154, who actually has the style to trouble Fundora, and why the division feels alive again when the right fights get made.Heavyweights get their shine too. We lay out why Moses Itauma is starting to feel like must-see TV, plus the kind of opponents we want next if promoters are serious about building a star. We also preview Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov, debate the danger of heavyweight power, and break down Regis Prograis vs Conor Benn at 150, including why the weight-class confusion matters for fans trying to track careers. We also touch the week's biggest headlines, including the Tank conversation and what repeated controversy does to a fighter's public trust, then end with future-fight chatter like Teofimo Lopez vs Ryan Garcia at 147.
