In this show, we are joined by junior middleweight contender Chordale Booker, who will be involved in a white-collar boxing event coming up.We start the show off with a breakdown of Vergil Ortiz vs Erickson Lubin, talking about what is next for both fighters. This is followed by a conversation around the co-feature between Darius Fulghum-David Stevens, and the debut of Amari Jones. Dakota gives his thoughts on other up-and-comers from the Golden Boy card. We also talk about Tiger Johnson great performance stopping Nicklaus Flaz, which was a star-making performance. Katsuma Akitsugi once again looks like a contender, and Dominic Valle is a top prospect. With Booker, we talk a little bit about his coaching style, and what it was like to be a prospect. This was followed by a breakdown of Chris Eubank Jnr-Conor Benn, as well as the DAZN entitled "The Ultimate Tier", we might be joined by a special guest panelist for this part of the show as well. On the undercard of this pay-per-view event, we discuss Adam Azim versus Kurt Scoby, and Jack Catterall versus Ekow Essuman. Sam Gilley versus Ishamael Davis could be sneaky fun, given how good Davis looked in his last fight.Timestamps0:00 Intro0:25 Vergil Ortiz8:30 Vergil Ortiz-Jaron Ennis13:12 Golden Boy undercard15:12 Chordale Booker talks about coaching boxing23:40 Chordale Booker on Ortiz-Ennis30:40 Tiger Johnson38:10 Chris Eubank Jr-Conor Benn II43:15 Adam Azim-Kurt Scoby51:00 Jack Catterall-Ekow Essuman58:06 Chordale Booker stories

This was a good Saturday workout: not the hardest Saturday ever, but engaging, with some truly effervescent cluing. From USC quarterback to drug kingpin to ice cream entrepreneur, Owen Hanson explains how criminal skills can translate to legitimate business success.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1231What We Discuss with Owen Hanson:Early childhood trauma shaped Owen Hanson's path. Owen's parents divorced when he was eight, and his mother left with his sister. He didn't see her for nine months, leading to deep abandonment issues and a desperate need for his father's approval that influenced his later choices.Prison strips away fair-weather friends. When Owen went to federal prison, he lost nearly everyone. He could count his true friends on one hand (including his parents) — most people vanished out of fear or because they were only there for the party, not the person.Drug smuggling vs. ice cream logistics. Owen admits shipping frozen ice cream pallets is actually harder than smuggling cocaine because ice cream must stay frozen 24/7. When his first shipment arrived in New York unmelted, he felt the same rush he once got from drug deals.Business skills transfer directly. Owen discovered the same entrepreneurial principles that made him successful in illegal operations — logistics, networking, risk management — apply perfectly to legitimate business, just with different (and legal) products.Redemption lives in applied skills. Owen channeled his hustler instincts into creating a high-protein ice cream business he developed in prison. By redirecting his entrepreneurial energy toward something positive, he proves that skillsets aren't inherently good or bad — it's how you deploy them that matters. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps! Paris Chong Show features acclaimed photographer Alan Schaller, who discusses his journey into photography, starting from a crush on a girl to becoming a "golden boy" in the industry. He shares insights into his practice, including his initial investment in a Leica camera and his dedication to street photography, which he attributes to an "obsessive maniac" approach and a flexible freelance musician lifestyle.Schaller also introduces his new company, Iriys, an "ecosystem" designed to support the photography industry. Irys aims to offer book publishing, an agency, galleries, a magazine, and a social media application for photographers. He highlights the company's mission to address challenges faced by photographers in the age of AI and video prevalence, and to create a supportive community where artists receive fair compensation for their work, such as a 50% royalty on book sales. The conversation touches on personal anecdotes, including humorous stories about dropping cameras and a "midlife crisis" purchase of a vintage Aston Martin during lockdown. Paris Chong expresses excitement about Iris and her involvement as a curator, emphasizing the need for such a platform and Schaller's generous approach to sharing knowledge within the photographic community.Show Notes:www.theparischongshow.com/episodes/alan-schaller-from-a-crush-to-photographys-golden-boy-the-birth-of-irysChapters:(00:00:00) Intro(00:01:11) Alan Schaller(00:06:06) A Funny Meeting(00:07:16) Irys Photo App(00:11:32) Lockdown Experience(00:14:30) Irys, but for real this time(00:19:33) Book Publishing & PopUp Galleries(00:25:09) When is the launch of Irys?(00:27:24) Traveling Life(00:29:16) Featured Print & Sponsors(00:33:18) People are obssessed with Alan(00:37:25) Explaining the Photo(00:39:30) How we met again, but different.(00:46:56) Irys Launch Party(00:48:03) Playing with Chaka Khan(00:50:02) Outro

Art World Infamy is a special series from the team behind The Art Angle, investigating the scandals and schemes that have rocked the art world. In the first chapter, told over four episodes, senior market reporter Eileen Kinsella unravels the rise and fall of dealer Inigo Philbrick. Long before headlines exposed his $86 million fraud, Inigo Philbrick was just another ambitious intern at one of the most powerful galleries in the world. Then a student at Goldsmiths College, Philbrick caught the attention of legendary dealer Jay Jopling and landed a coveted internship at White Cube—the gallery that defined 1990s London, and launched the YBAs (Young British Artists) including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. In this second episode, we explore how Philbrick so quickly ingratiated himself into the upper echelons of the art world that, within just a few years, he was running his own eponymous gallery. With hindsight, were there early warning signs of what was to come that the art world failed to see?

With his looks, charisma and string of hits, Robert Redford, who died this week, was the face of Hollywood cinema in the 1970's. But he was so much more than a pretty face, and quickly moved into directing and producing awards winning films, before pivoting to focus on what really mattered to him: the Sundance Film Festival, to support independent film. Despite his huge public profile, Robert Redford remained an elusive, unknowable and very private man. Thomas Jefferson was America's golden boy. Author of the Declaration of Independence, secretary of state under George Washington, vice president to John Adams, and 3rd president of the United States, he penned famous words like "all men are created equal," and "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." For this, he's often remembered as a moral champion who fought for equality and liberty for all. But there was another side to Thomas Jefferson, a darker side, one he kept well hidden. Despite his passionate prose, Jefferson enslaved some 600 people in his lifetime. Despite calling slavery "moral depravity" and a "hideous blot," he himself knowingly traded in human lives, authorized the beatings of children, intentionally sold them away from their families, all while benefiting immensely financially. So who was Thomas Jefferson really? America's golden boy or... something else? Tune in to find out! Support the show! I, along with the rest of the musical theater world, was saddened to learn that composer CHARLES STROUSE, one of the last of the great creators from the Golden Age of Broadway had passed away last week at the age of 96. Of course, Strouse and his three Tony Award-winning “Best Musicals": Bye Bye Birdie, Applause, and Annie — have been discussed frequently on this podcast. So over the weekend, I dug deep into the archives of Broadway Nation and newly adapted a section of my upcoming book regarding the musical Golden Boy and wove it all together to create this tribute episode, including an excerpt from my 2021 interview with Applause original cast member Lee Roy Reams. I am also delighted to report that a brand-new production of Bye Bye Birdie will open on June 10 at The 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle, where it will play through June 29. If you are in Seattle, or can get there, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience the musical and theatrical magic of Charles Strouse. Become A PATRON of Broadway Nation! This episode is made possible in part through the generous support of our Patron Club Members, such as Taryn Darr. If you are a fan of Broadway Nation, I invite you to become a PATRON! For as little as $7.00 a month, you can receive exclusive access to never-before-heard, unedited versions of many of the discussions that I have with my guests — in fact, I often record nearly twice as much conversation as ends up in the edited versions.
