The world of seed funding runs on two currencies - money and connection. Investors aren't just paying attention to the financials, they are looking for a compelling story that makes them connect with us and then want to get on board. Crafting our story is a step we can't skip in the early stages of our businesses. The more clarity we have on it, the better we can convey it, and the easier it is to achieve funding. A perfect pitch is incomplete without a strong story. What makes an investor want to join forces with us just isn't a narrative about how awesome our product is. It has to show how we can solve a problem, serve our audience, and make life easier or better for our customers. How do we craft our story and articulate it well? How does this help us connect with the right investors? In this episode, People Activator, speaker, executive coach, CEO, and author, Dan Negroni shares why developing our story is the key to getting Seed Money. Guest Bio Dan Negroni is a People Activator, speaker, executive coach, CEO and author of Chasing Relevance: 6 Steps to Understand, Engage and Maximize Next Generation Leaders in the Workplace. Dan unveils the art and science of building a people-focused formula that thrives on connections and relationships. 019 | Dan Negroni Shares The Myth on Millennials On the show this week, we have Dan Negroni who is the founder of LaunchBox. Dan has built his business predicated upon connecting innovative youth with age-old experience, or in other words, bridging the gap between the generations. Dan believes that instead of pushing kids into college we need to teach them what life is all about, ie. building relationships. It isn’t about selling, it’s about trusting relationships where you can provide value to others. It’s about how young people can learn to frame their words, their mindset, and their approach. Right now, Dan believes we do an awful job of teaching this in traditional education, but we don’t have to! We can teach kids that it takes time to harness their power and build their mindset. Rushing into anything isn’t necessary! To start any journey it’s important to learn about yourself. You need to become comfortable with what you’re asking of others and know it will provide value to them in some way. We are all incredibly powerful in our ability to influence people. Dan tells us what the best way to help others is, and as well as how to learn what our master skill set is! If you’re ready to dig deep and find your true passion, then you don’t want to miss this episode. Enjoy, thank you for listening and tuning into Success Unfiltered! Learn how to bounce back, improve, and get back out there with my free guide: “Surviving Business Rejections: 3 Ways To Turn A No Into A Win.” Check it out HERE! Here are a few key secrets we talked about in this episode: Michelle introduces Dan Negroni. Dan shares what he and his company call Millennials. Dan claims he’s allergic to the word NO, and he explains why. “It’s just thinking selling is providing value to the person.” In order to come to terms with the word NO, Dan has done a lot of deep work; meditation, staying in gratitude, framing how he asks questions and focusing on the value he’ll provide. To Dan a NO means not now, or NO, thank you, it’s not a fit for them. It’s not a NO to what he’s doing or saying or trying to provide to the other person. Dan believes that we’re doing a crappy job of teaching young people how to harness their power in traditional education. Being authentic and present is an important way to become comfortable with asking someone to buy something. Dan feels that you must understand your relationship with yourself before anything else. Dan’s innate skill is to be bold and speak the truth. You must be genuinely interested in other people and ask great questions to learn more about them. Dan hates the word selling and prefers to call it relationship building. Dan shares his most accomplished NO, the one that changed the trajectory of his business. Dan first retired at age 34, and shares his story. Dan shares tips on how to learn things in life quicker. Dan shares what he would tell his younger self. This Millennials and Money Cafe Podcast interview is with Dan Negroni, who is helping Millennials and Baby Boomers resolve cross-generational issues in the workplace through his new book, Chasing Relevance, and coaching programs. Dan is a business management and talent development consultant and coach addressing today's critical cross generational issues. He leverages his authentic, no nonsense approach and experience to help companies bridge the gap between managers and their millennial workforce. "Where youth and experience meets is where the all the magic happens"~ Dan Negroni In this podcast you will learn about The main problem Dan sees keeping the gap between the working generations is poor communication skills and false beliefs. Mindset is the first issue to address in the work place. People have all sorts of myths about each other in regards to needs, desires, expectations, sex, values, roles, culture...etc. Both management and employees need to ask more questions of each other and stop assuming and projecting onto the other generation. Communication issues are a result of bad information and mindset. This is because there is not relationship between management and employees. Creating healthy relationships in the workplace is key to better business and personal satisfaction. Understanding who they are and the value they offer is key to both generations. Learning how to effect within yourself first helps you to bridge the gap in any relationship. There are many tips, like the ones below, in the interview Millennial tip: Understand you can only control yourself, so do your inner work for better relationships. BabyBoomer tip: Stop the nonsense of false myths about Millennials and work on yourself to create better communication in the workplace. Millennial tip: Learn to ask questions about your boss or manager in order to better understand what you don't know. Millennial tip: understand yourself inside-out and then you will know that what you are asking for is something you deserve and it is a reasonable thing to ask and will provide value to others. Steps you can take to prepare to grow and learn in the workplace Understand the power of relationships Know you strengths Know your skills, passions and value you bring Define how you want to be perceived in the world Develop your story and be able to communicate it 71% of millennials are disengaged in the workplace, meaning they want to find another job. Dan wants CEO's and managers to know that to be successful in their business they need to take care of their employees. That they have an obligation to support Millennials in finding their way in their workplace. Millennials can ask for support from their boss by asking questions that are focused on learning and serving. Learn how you can self-mentor Learn to understand yourself better Learn how to I attract the right mentors Take full responsibility for your growth and learning Build relationships Chasing Relevance, 6 Steps To Understand, Engage, and Maximize Next-Generation Leaders in the Workplace, by Dan Negroni Launchbox365.com Please leave comments about what was helpful about this interview or questions your may have, so we can all learn more about each other.
