The late model racer turned Vitreoretinal Surgeon describes his journey through late model stocks to winning a competition to earn an opportunity with Michael Waltrip Racing, being a winner in the ARCA Menards Series West Division, graduating from Harvard, moving to Texas to be a Vitreoretinal Surgeon and launching a campaign Driving to Flight Blindness. It is one of the most interesting conversations we have ever had on this podcast. Alex Bowman ended a 80 race winless drought using wet weather tires in the streets of Chicago. We discuss the ramifications of this win, the idea of more timed races, electric cars coming to NASCAR and who to look out for at the Tricky Triangle at Pocono this weekend. We review the wild CARS Tour race from Caraway. Brent Crews wins his second event of the year with a bump and run to Connor Hall late in Wednesday's race. Should Crews expect racers to keep that move in mind going forward? We discuss how rivalries are good for the sport in regards to a possible Carson Kvapil vs Connor Hall rivalry plus discuss how Lee Pulliam Performance would soon forget about Caraway after both of their cars had wild incidents. It's Wednesday, and Mike and C.J. welcome two guests into the studio in addition to wrapping up the sports news of the day. Dr. Patrick Staropoli somehow manages to combine racing and being a first-year resident physician, operating (pardon the pun) out of Miami. Staropoli opened his 2018 racing season with a strong sixth-place run in the Winter Showdown at Showtime Speedway in his Star Racing #97. He will also campaign the #64 Jim McCoy Motorsports machine this season. We will also talk with Heath Phillips, who pilots the #88 Late Model in the Allison Legacy Series. Please join us.

Austin is driving full time in the NCWTS for Niece Motorsports in 2018. Austin also ran in ARCA, finishing the 2015 season as the runner up while driving for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.
