Conor Daly prepares for his next challenge behind the wheel on this week's episode of Speed Street. He joins co-host Chase Holden to discuss his upcoming NASCAR Truck race at Homestead and the challenges he's facing in a grueling market for open seats in 2025. The guys also discuss the recent IndyCar test at Iowa Speedway as well as the Indianapolis Road Course test for 2025's IndyNXT roster. Conor spent the past weekend watching racing and was disappointed with the outcome of the Formula One United States Grand Prix. He weighs in on the differences between IndyCar and Formula One track limits and how the race may have played out differently if the stewards didn't have to get involved. Hailie Deegan joins the show to discuss her highly publicized transition from the NASCAR world to the IndyNXT paddock. Hailie explains that after her last NASCAR Xfinity event, she began to ponder entering the open wheel world and went to the IndyCar event at Iowa Speedway to take in the series firsthand. She compares the amount of track time she's had so far in preparing for her first IndyNXT start to her past four seasons spent in NASCAR, which reveals a major challenge for developing racers in the stock car world. Conor and Hailie discuss the use of iRacing in helping to ease the growing pains that come with switching types of race cars, as well as the affordability of racing in IndyNXT versus a NASCAR Truck. 21+ and present in North Carolina. Tonight, on Trackside with Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin, they talk about this past weekend's IndyCar doubleheader at the Iowa Speedway with Team Penske continuing their dominance, but it wasn't “The King of Corn Country”, Josef Newgarden, however his two teammates were victorious. Scott McLaughlin won the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 Saturday night for his first career oval win, while Will Power won the Hy-Vee One Step 250 Sunday night for his first win in Iowa. They talk about how the racing was subpar, especially for the new hybrid system, and how the crowd looked along with some revisions going throughout the speedway. They even talk about the crowd for the concerts from Luke Combs, Eric Church, Kelsea Ballerini, and Post Malone.   Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin talks to Curt about how he benefited from watching the race from pit exit at Iowa from the broadcast this past weekend. They also talk about the late TV channel change from the Saturday night to CNBC as the world reacted to the assassination attempt of former President, Donald Trump.  To wrap up the first hour of the program, Kevin talks about some stats from the Iowa Speedway, previews the second hour of the show, including the Brickyard weekend on the return to the oval for the NASCAR Cup Series, and more racing at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.  To start the second hour of the show, Kevin and Curt go through questions on Twitter, starting with how the Indy NXT Championship could play out, weather affecting the streets of Toronto, Hailie Deegan in the Indy NXT paddock, and more questions with the hybrid system.   Later in the second hour program, Kevin and Curt go through more Twitter questions, and talk more about Sting Ray Robb's massive crash from Iowa and that he was cleared to return to racing this weekend at Toronto. They also provide some little silly season updates from Alexander Rossi and more.   Then to wrap up another addition of the show, Kevin talks fast thoughts about Hunter McElrea making his debut this weekend in Toronto and Robert Wickens winning in the Michelin Pilot Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Team Penske veteran and recent Cup Series winning Crew Chief Brian Wilson joins Davey Segal this week (6:25) to reflect on the No. 2 teams triumph at Gateway a couple weeks ago and why the win was a validation of the process he and Austin Cindric have been trusting together. He also shares what Roger Penske told him after the win and the gains that Ford Performance and Penske have seemingly made in recent weeks. Wilson details his 21 illustrious years at the company, starting out as a shock specialist before working his way into an engineer role, winning 50 (and counting) times along the way, garnering multiple championships and working with countless drivers. He also touches on his start in racing growing up in Michigan, why his father's influence loomed over him and helped get him started in the sport, why his driving career was short lived and memories working for Frank Kimmel's ARCA team as a 21-year-old fresh out of college. Wilson also explains what makes he and Austin Cindric work so well together, if anybody ever confuses him with some *other* famous Brian Wilson's out there, previews New Hampshire Motor Speedway and why he said some may be right to write the No. 2 team off come playoff time, but they may surprise some people. Davey also recaps the Cup Series' inaugural trip to Iowa Speedway, Martin Truex Jr.'s impending retirement and Papa Segal pays homage to a legend of Le Mans.

While the repave worked, Denny still has a request for Goodyear.Denny breaks down his POV from the driver's seat, including the unintentional contact with Larson. Denny and cohost Jared Allen discuss how Ricky Stenhouse Jr's strategy paid off, helping him get a top-five finish. Did NASCAR get it right with the Daniel Hemric caution call? The guys also talk about how Larson had the fastest car, but his day was finished when Daniel Suarez caused him to wreck. Meanwhile, the Fords had a quiet start to the season but they have found speed the last couple weeks as evidenced by Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric's wins. Does that make Joey Logano the most dangerous driver on the cut line?Denny has had back-to-back bad weeks, but he isn't worried about how things are going. In their off-track discussion, Denny and Jared wonder if Sam Mayer should be one of the drivers considered for a Cup car next year. Denny's longtime teammate, Martin Truex Jr., announced that he is retiring from driving full time and Denny talks about what that means. Also, Denny gives the latest update on the charter discussions with NASCAR. Plus, fans send questions in for #DearDenny and we get a “pupdate” on Lulu. For more Actions Detrimental content, head over to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ActionsDetrimental

2018 Truck Series champion and Iowa native Brett Moffitt joins Davey Segal this week (5:45) ahead of his return to the Xfinity Series and return to Joe Gibbs Racing at his home track of Iowa Speedway. Moffitt explains the excitement surrounding the opportunity to race in competitive equipment at his home track, what it'll be like having friends and family in attendance, how the partial repave will level out the playing field on a track he's won at multiple times and what it's been like getting re-acclimated to JGR after more than a decade away. Moffitt also dives into getting to know his crew chief for the weekend, Seth Chavka, his partial NCTS schedule with TRICON Garage and why his lack of rhythm has been hindering him during races thus far. He also reminisces on his 2018 championship with Hattori Racing Enterprises and Scott Zipadelli (and Davey shares a funny (and intimate?) story from that night), his time in the Cup Series and why it was a struggle, whether or not he'd like to get back there one day, working as a simulation driver for Hendrick Motorsports, how his time with AM Racing came to an end at the end of 2023 and more, including what it's like now being a father of two, his realistic expectations for Iowa this weekend and some must-dos for those visiting Newton for the first time. Papa Segal also pays homage to the late Parnelli Jones while Davey recaps Kyle Larson's Sonoma victory and looks ahead to the Cup Series' first trip to the land of corn.

Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa. We're hopeful that this track lives up to that famous phrase. We start this week's ep by taking a quick victory lap since Sonoma treated us to some nice wine and our first winning weekend since April. Making up for all the lost bets in May, and then some! We go over what went well in that race. Then we move to Iowa Speedway with the first EVER race for the NASCAR Cup Series at this track. We break down what that means, go over any news and notes for this track, and different ways we can try and find data and identify value on various bets. After that we breakdown the outright market and discuss the Manufacturers pick this week. Then get into some Finishing Position picks, including a Over/Under pick from Caesars. Finally we wrap up with some matchups, and a Team Bet that will certainly be very entertaining this week. Hoping to come out of the cornfields with some coins!

We start your week right with a couple pick you up stories like Donald Trump wanting to eliminate taxes for service industry workers and Steve Bannon going viral with a smack down video for 2024.    The Royals win two of three and now host the Yankees for four.  Caitlin Clark is shut out of the Olympics in the dumbest sports decision in history.  The Celtics coach is not only up 2-0 in the NBA Finals he's crushing every news conference with short sentences about what's really important.  Scotty Scheffler wins on the PGA Tour.   Kyle Larson picks up his third win of the Cup season as history is about to made in Iowa.  Iowa Speedway President Eric Peterson is a native Kansan who worked at Kansas Speedway and then NASCAR before taking over the track a few months ago.  His first order of business was to prepare the speedway for this week's Iowa Corn 350, the first Cup race ever in Iowa.   He joins us for a great conversation.
