The American Justice System isn't a courtroom—it's a carnival. In this explosive episode of TZ Scandal, Tom Zenner and Kato Kaelin tear down the "Carolina Circus" that just handed a family annihilator the keys to a new trial. Alex Murdaugh didn't beat the evidence; he beat a system so desperate for a payday that a court clerk allegedly tampered with a jury just to sell a book. From the 86-year legal dynasty of the Lowcountry to the blood-stained gates of Rockingham, the playbook remains the same: If you have enough status, the truth is negotiable.INSIDE THE MADNESS: The Becky Hill Betrayal: How a greedy clerk turned a double-murder trial into a personal book tour. The O.J. Blueprint: Kato Kaelin reveals the "Hero Worship" within the LAPD that allowed a "God Complex" to override physical evidence. The Elite Loophole: Why the "System" is designed to protect the predators and ignore the victims. Is it more dangerous when a corrupt cop like Mark Fuhrman poisons a case, or when a "clown show" court clerk like Becky Hill poisons a jury for a few dollars in royalties? The circus is in town, and the clowns are running the court.

Dale Earnhardt's crash at the 2001 Daytona 500 shook NASCAR. What came next nearly destroyed it. Five days after the worst day in NASCAR history, a single announcement lit the sport on fire: the lap belt in Dale Earnhardt's car had failed. In an instant, grief turned to fury — and NASCAR entered the darkest period of controversy the sport had ever known. A safety equipment manufacturer accused of killing a legend. An EMT who claimed the belt wasn't broken — it was cut. A widow forced into court to protect her husband's dignity. A rival driver threatened for simply touching the wrong car at the wrong moment. And an investigation that answered some questions while raising dozens more. This episode of Firestorm goes inside the aftermath nobody saw coming: Mike Helton's bombshell announcement at Rockingham — and the fury it unleashed on Bill Simpson and Simpson Race Products The broken belt vs. the cut belt: two competing claims, one devastating consequence Tommy Probst's testimony: why an EMT's account changed everything The legal battle over Dale Earnhardt's autopsy photos — and the Florida law born from it Sterling Marlin: contact, controversy, and death threats NASCAR's official investigation report (August 21, 2001) — and why Bill Simpson immediately fired back with his own press conference How September 11, 2001 brought the most turbulent NASCAR season to a sudden, sobering close The 2001 Daytona 500 didn't end on February 18th. It's not often that racers go on to have competitive second acts to their careers after retiring from the limelight. This week on the Download, Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits down with a driver who retired a NASCAR Truck champion and retraced his family roots back to the short tracks: Johnny Benson Jr. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Johnny grew up in the shadows of his father John Benson Sr., one of the finest chauffeurs the Midwest had to offer in the 1960s and 70s. John made a name for himself in the supermodified ranks and served as part of the Michigan invasion of the mid-60s to the legendary Oswego Speedway, where he captured the crown jewel Oswego Classic in 1966. At home, he was an accomplished parts builder and fabricator, which is where young Johnny got his first hands-on experience. Once John stepped away from driving, Johnny rose to the occasion to race for the family company, initially stepping into Southwest Michigan's dirt late model ranks. He quickly graduated to pavement competition, taking on the challenging American Speed Association tour in the mid-1990s, where he captured his first national championship in 1993. The feat landed him on the radar of many in the NASCAR ranks, including none other than Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Ernie Irvan. Johnny received a shot at the big time in the Busch Grand National Series, where he'd continue his winning ways with a season points crown in 1995. He was promoted to the Cup Series, driving for Bahari Racing, Roush Racing and finally MB2 Motorsports, capturing one lone victory at Rockingham in 2002.  Johnny's Cup opportunities would run their course, but he'd find later success in his NASCAR career driving for Bill Davis Racing in the Trucks Series. He'd become one of the few drivers in NASCAR history to win crowns in multiple series when he won the Truck title in 2008, before returning to his short track roots, getting behind the wheel of a supermodified in International Super Modified Association competition. Episode 181 is on the scene and we end our 2026 Kulwicki Driver Development Program Series with third generation star Penn Sauter. Penn who is the son of former Craftsman Truck Series Champion Johnny Sauter and grandson of the legendary Midwestern competitor Jim talks to us about his upcoming season growing up in a racing family and if he faces any pressure to live up to the Sauter name and reputation. Kristian Armstead grew up in Michigan but has settled in nicely in the South Boston area of Virginia racing in the Hornets Division. Last Saturday during Danville Toyota Race Night, him and his small team of three's hard work paid off with his first win ever at the speedway. Kristian joins us to discuss his career so far, what it means for him to win at a speedway that has seen so many legends do the same and overcoming some of the faster cars to claim his first win of what he hopes to be many. Julian was at SoBo on Saturday and the boys reviewed the other racing action from the Halifax County facility. From Trevor Ward picking up twin second place finishes to Peyton Sellers and Johnny Layne adding to their impressive career win totals in Late Models and Pure Stocks respectively to Jacob Derrick's late pass on Drew Dawson to win in Limiteds, it was quite the opening day for three of the track's four divisions. We spoke with Bobby McCarty following his win in the second race. For McCarty, it has been a struggle the last few seasons getting his new team up and going and yes, there were times he thought it was over for him. Saturday proved otherwise by returning to victory lane just like Lee Pulliam did two weeks ago. The SMART Modified Tour invaded Dominion Raceway on Saturday in a race absolutely dominated by Carson Loftin who grabbed his first win of 2026. We give our breakdown of the event which leads us to Hickory this weekend which we also preview. The zMAX CARS Tour boogies on down to Nashville Fairgrounds this weekend and DLN gives you the scoop on what it means for the tour and who will take home the checkered in both the Pro Late Models and Late Model Stocks in our race preview! We also discuss William Sawalich's first win in the O'Reilly Series, whether Corey Heim should be Chase Eligible while leading the points in the Truck Series despite missing two races (he's won two of the three he's been in) and whether Rockingham should always host an Easter Weekend O'Reilly/Craftsman Truck, ARCA triple header as we review the weekend from the Rock.We also dive into some of the other winners from the Mid Atlantic Region, Ice Breaker talk from Thompson, a preview of the triple header from Bristol and more this week on DLN.A special thanks to our sponsorsTyler Hash: Virginia Farm BureauALARS Inc

Dale Earnhardt Jr. welcomes Cleetus McFarland back to the Download on the heels of his polarizing NASCAR Trucks Series debut. The beloved YouTube-content creator and part-time ARCA competitor joins the show to share some big news: he's moving up in the world of stock car racing. McFarland explains that he recently received an offer to join Richard Childress Racing for select O'Reilly Auto Parts Series starts over the next two seasons. The team is eager to work with McFarland to help give him proper seat-time experience and training to help unlock the racer he has shown glimpses of being. He will take his next step at an upcoming test at Rockingham before making his series debut at the track on April 4th. Cleetus recently garnered negative attention when he crashed out early from his Trucks series debut at Daytona, a move brought on by a lack of experience and lap time. Dale Jr. explains that while he is moving quickly into his racing career, the incident has happened to even veteran racers such as himself. He goes on to reassure Cleetus that the training and education he'll receive at RCR will expedite his growth as a racer, giving him information he'd never be able to gain in the ARCA ranks. The guys also discuss the inherent danger that comes along with Cleetus' stunt work, the prospect of going late model racing, and even share a little liver mush snack. Dale Earnhardt has been leading the NASCAR Cup season points for most of 1980, but it hasn't been smooth sailing. In fact, stock car legends Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, and Cale Yarborough have all been within striking distance at one point or another, but attrition has kept the field even. Engine failures, crashes, injuries, and team disharmony have plagued everyone in the Cup garage, and it appears the 1980 crown will come down to whoever can manage the chaos best. And thanks to Jake Elder's untimely departure, Dale has to depend on a young, inexperienced, newly promoted Doug Richert to help keep things on track. As the season wages on, the championship contest really comes down to two: Dale and Cale. The two can't stop finding each other on track, and things are getting tense. This will be Dale's first real taste at a Cup series rivalry, and neither driver is willing to back down. Dale is going to again pick up back-to-back wins, including a triumphant hometown victory in Charlotte, but a disastrous showing in Rockingham allows Cale to close in as the season winds to a close.FanDuel: Must be 21+ and present in select states (for Kansas, in affiliation with Kansas Star Casino) or 18+ and present in D.C. After 27 grueling weeks, it comes down to the final four races. Somehow, after all the roster changes, crashes, fights and calamity, there are two tight points races to be decided. As the NASCAR Cup contingent prepares for the last stretch, the season points championship and the Rookie of the Year battles have never been closer. Dale Earnhardt surely had the rookie crown locked up after his stunning victory at Bristol in April, but the trusty DeWitt team and their unproven chauffeur Joe Millikan have kept him in sight. After Dale's disastrous crash and time on the sideline, Millikan took full advantage and strung together a series of top-10 finishes to take over the top spot in the standings. In the Grand National points race, Darrell Waltrip jumped out to an early lead and never looked back for most of the season. But after a catastrophic sequence of engine failures and crashes, the DiGard team seems to have begun to crumble under the pressure of winning their first season championship. Even worse, the King Richard Petty has been steadily getting closer in the rearview mirror, and he has his sights set on an unprecedented seventh Cup crown. Join us as we go down to the wire in the greatest NASCAR Cup season in history. We'll unpack the final four events: North Wilkesboro, Rockingham, Atlanta and Ontario. By the end of it, we will have decided two incredible points contests, with winners who represent NASCAR's past and future.FanDuel: Must be 21+ and present in select states (for Kansas, in affiliation with Kansas Star Casino) or 18+ and present in D.C.
