COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy got some good news when Zlatan Ibrahimovic captured two different league-wide awards. But without a new general manager and without a clear direction they seem to be grinding to a halt when quick decisions about the long-term future of the club need to be made.  On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are back to discuss the Galaxy's perceived problems with not already have a head of their soccer operations in place. And what that will mean in the very near future! The guys start the show by re-examining the firing of Pete Vagenas and discussing why it does little to change the culture in the front office. Plus, was Vagenas just another scapegoat in a drastically shrinking sea of scapegoats?  And did the Galaxy offer a contract to Dennis te Kloese? If they did, did the Dutchman turn them down? What does that say about the current organization if that's true? Finally, the guys will walk you through some very important offseason dates for the Galaxy and why the calendar seems to be speeding up instead of slowing down. With an Expansion Draft bearing down on the club, who will make the decisions of who to protect and who not to protect? And what should the players be expecting from the club while there is a hunt to determine who will head the soccer operations? And who is making contract decisions as the Galaxy rapidly approach the Option Deadline for the 2018 season? We've got a quick show for you as we keep you focused on the big issues that are already affecting the Galaxy's 2019 season and why the direction of the club is no clearer than when they fired Sigi Schmid before the end of the season.  Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy held their last media availability for the 2018 season earlier this week and CoG went with our microphone ready. What we got was nearly an hour of audio from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chris Klein, Ola Kamara, David Bingham, Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos and Romain Alessandrini that gave us some idea of what these players are thinking heading into a long offseason.  On today's show, your host Josh Guesman is ready to break down some of that audio and highlight some of the more important quotes that came from that. And in doing so he'll be able to break down the exit-interviews and give you some perspective on what the guys are saying and what that means for the future of the Galaxy.  Josh will focus in on Ibrahimovic and Klein, spending most of the show letting you hear exactly what those two had to say. And being that the Galaxy seem to be focused on keeping Ibrahimovic, it's important to note how each of the guys handle the questions.  The firing of Pete Vagenas wasn't a surprise, and it was probably overdue, but it's clear the club is trying to make him this season's sacrificial lamb. And that the reorganization that is now taking place is about a 12 months behind. But we'll provide you with the audio and you can make some of your own decisions on the responses that were given.  Finally, Josh will update you on the hottest rumor surrounding the Galaxy's General Manager search. Dennis Te Kloese is a big name in Mexico and does have some history with Major League Soccer. Could he be the answer to the Galaxy's questions? COG STUDIOS, Calif -- The LA Galaxy made an announcement this week taking the General Manager title away from Pete Vagenas and reinstating him as the club's Vice President of Soccer Operations. By doing that they also gave Sigi Schmid complete control over player personnel decisions.  Did the musical chairs help the Galaxy? Who is the actual GM now? Did the club hold themselves accountable to the fans or their players? Your hosts Josh Guesman and Larry Morgan discuss what these decisions mean for the Galaxy in the near term and what this might also mean down the road.  The guys will start by talking about Schmid's new role with the Galaxy. What type of team will he build and what does this mean for the Galaxy's focus on going "younger?" And maybe it's just us, but it seems like the club has quietly shifted their overall story when it comes to using their academy. Does Schmid mean to take this team in the opposite direction? Will getting older help the Galaxy? Next Josh and Larry discuss the effect Vagenas has had on this team. What have the decision makers done to this team going back a few years and why are they still there if this season was such a miserable disaster? Does the front office owe the fans an explanation? Finally, they'll take a look at the remaining Galaxy news. Who ended up with the end of the year awards? And why you shouldn't listen to anyone who didn't vote for these two guys! It's another show where we're talking about the Galaxy's offseason priorities while other teams battle in the playoffs. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

CoG Studios, CA - It may have been another LA Galaxy loss, but the season was lost months ago. Now it's time to learn as much as one can about the team before the end of the season. And with just nine games left, it's very important to learn from the lessons of this last season so the team doesn't make the same mistakes twice. Your hosts Josh Guesman and Wendy Thomas will walk you through some of the more interesting parts of the Galaxy's loss but this show isn't about the games that have been played. It's about the people who are in positions to lead the Galaxy out of a season like this and turn the team back into what it has almost always been - a contender for every trophy, tournament, and title. The majority of the focus will be put on the front office and Josh and Wendy try to evaluate Chris Klein and Pete Vagenas. Should they still be in charge for next season? Where does the fault lie? And how much does job performance matter when the "team mentality" gets in the way of proper evaluation? Your hosts will also get you updated on all the Galaxy news including Dominic Kinnear's hire and what that means for the decision making of personnel, and players. Finally, Josh will get you ready for the Rapids on Saturday night while Wendy tells you where she would place a bet for $100 dollars. Would you put money on the Galaxy to win this game on Saturday? Or would you rather the flip of a coin? It's a great show packed with almost 90-minutes of Galaxy talk. Thanks for joining us! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory!

CoG Studios, CA - The LA Galaxy should just go ahead and announce what everyone already knows -- that Curt Onalfo is their next head coach (all the arrows are pointing in that direction). It's just taking too much energy to pretend that isn't the outcome. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Wendy Thomas are ready to get you updated on all the latest LA Galaxy news and they've got lots of opinions on the latest signings. First, they'll discuss the players who are likely to come back for the LA Galaxy this year. There will be some surprises, there will be some changes in direction, and there will be some players you'll want to throw things at. But don't! That's not nice. Josh and Wendy will give you all the most up to date information regarding the core of this team and what that could mean personnel wise for 2017. Next, they'll discuss Major League Soccer in general, as the league looks to be on the cusp of announcing, even more, Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). What does this say about the direction the League is trying to guide teams into? What could that mean for the LA Galaxy and certain Belgian International? And with the Expansion Draft coming up, should you be worried about players being left unprotected? Wendy and Josh will tell you what you need to know going into the draft, and why you should probably just relax. This isn't your Mother and Father's expansion draft. Finally, the remainder of the show is dedicated to discussing the hiring of Pete Vagenas as General Manager, and the likely hiring of Curt Onalfo to be Head Coach. It's a long and important conversation that needs to be had. And it also flows right into the LA Galaxy and their supposed "cost cutting." In this case, being smarter with money is something the LA Galaxy should invest in. And by skewing younger in all forms -- coaching and front office -- they might be on the right track. It's a longer show, but we just had too much to discuss. It's another great episode of Corner of the Galaxy, and we're thrilled that you could join us. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory.

LA Galaxy President, Chris Klein, starts by thank Bruce Arena for his contributions and then goes on to announce Vagenas as the General Manager. What follows are members of the media responding to the news and seeking clarification from Klein on a variety of topics including how the coaching hunt is going, and who some of the candidates could possibly be. You'll here some names asked about and you'll also hear one name that has been excluded. But you'll also hear about the teams philosophy and what they are looking for in a head coaching candidate. What are your thoughts on this announcement? Is it the right move? Does it serve continuity? Or is this a risky proposition for the LA Galaxy? And does this mean that an internal coaching candidate has the inside track? There are plenty of questions that come up as a result, but for now, listen to what the LA Galaxy have planned and try and figure out what their next steps are.
