D.C. United can't find any points against the Vancouver Whitecaps, but they must press on and so must Filibuster. Jason and Ben are here to break down the Whitecaps game, and we sent Adam to the wilds of the National Radio Quiet Zone (or something like that). We talk about D.C. United's offensive woes, the fact that they almost had their Best XI available and what that means for who want want to see playing, the problems at defensive midfield in this game, and our review of Ema Boateng and Ola Kamara's first action. In the second segment we bring on Mark Fishkin of the Seeing Red podcast to talk about the first Atlantic Cup matchup of this season (somehow). We ask him about Aaron Long's transfer saga, Brian White versus Bradley Wright-Phillips, the team's inconsistencies, MLS disrespecting the Atlantic Cup, Kaku, and more. COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy made a huge splash when they signed Cristian Pavon today. But the real story is about the details that led up to the signing and our very own Josh Guesman is here to walk you through the agonizing wait for the deal to become official. Joining Josh today is guest-co-host, Delmy Barillas. Delmy was at training today as Pavon officially trained for the first time and also was his introductory press conference. Together, Josh and Delmy are going to walk you through all the Galaxy's Transfer Day deals and give you the details that will help you determine if the Galaxy did well during the window. And they're also going to get you behind-the-scenes and let you know that the Galaxy didn't have Pavon signed until 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Then they're going to tell you why there's controversy surrounding the move, and when you break it down, there's no controversy at all. The Galaxy, and especially Dennis te Kloese, played by all the rules, and put together one of the craziest loans in MLS history. How it benefits the club are nearly endless, and the dollar amount is just about right! But outside of the loan deal for Pavon, the Galaxy will have to deal with two former players in Ola Kamara and Emmanuel Boateng when they face off against DC United this Sunday. And a large portion of tonight's show will be dedicated to telling you how those deals came about and why Jorgen Skjelvik's name suddenly popped up as a possibility of heading to Hammarby. We've got nearly 120 minutes of Galaxy talk, and we're so glad you could join us! Let's get started! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- It was another embarrassing loss for the LA Galaxy as they're first of two east coast games came crashing down in Atlanta. It didn't help that they scored two own goals in the first half before conceding a dubious penalty kick. But there are more failures than successes in this match and Guillermo Barros Schelotto is probably the one to blame. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman (Galaxy Beat Reporter) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter) get you deep into the details of the loss and help you wrap your head around all the Galaxy news you can handle. The guys will start with some positives in this game -- yes, there were positives. They'll talk about the Galaxy's high-press and the success they had in creating chances in the first half. But all of that will quickly go out the window when it comes to the general setup of the team and Schelotto either needed to figure out how to be patient and bunker down or get some help for Uriel Antuna. The problems that plagued the Galaxy against Portland continued to hurt them against Atlanta and the most frustrating thing about it all? The Galaxy had the chances to win that game, and they didn't. Josh and Kevin will also give you more stats than you can handle in our stat segment. It's not something you should miss. And they'll update you on all the likely scenarios surrounding Cristian Pavon and his probable addition to the Galaxy roster. This deal has always been way more complicated than just getting the player to Los Angeles, but it's good to know that it should all wrap-up before the end of the week. Finally, they'll be talking about former Galaxy striker Ola Kamara and why he could be across the half-line when the Galaxy travel to DC United for Sunday's match! It's all so fascinating! We've got over 70 minutes of Galaxy talk headed your way! Don't miss it! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Calen Carr and Matt Doyle sit down in the studio talk about MLS Week 22, Aaron Long's transfer saga, juicy transfer rumors around MLS, Inter Miami linked to Gennaro Gattuso and US Open Cup semifinals. But first, Alejandro Bedoya grabbed headlines for his goal celebration and mic drop on Sunday. The guys share their thoughts on Bedoya’s statement on national TV – “Congress, do something now! End gun violence! Let’s go!” – and the bravery it takes to seize the moment. 3:16 - Ale Bedoya drops the mic on national TV 17:27 - Union bounce back, DC are "a mess" 21:06 - ATL have so much talent it may not matter how they play 24:10 - Can anyone stop LAFC? With the long, dark, cold offseason behind us, Corner of the Galaxy is ready to kick-off our eleventh season covering the LA Galaxy. On today’s show, your host Josh Guesman (and stick figure Giovani dos Santos – check the YouTube channel) is ready to get you “fired up” for Chicago! That’s right, the Chicago Fire are in town looking to spoil Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s Galaxy debut. Meanwhile, the Galaxy look to start the season off on the right foot. Josh will start by going over the mechanics of the Ola Kamara transfer and what that means for the Galaxy in terms of the money they can spend, where the can spend it, and how. Plus, he’ll go into the mechanics of Kamara leaving and why the Galaxy were more than content to let him go for a “life-changing” opportunity. The show will also touch on what the Kamara transfer means for Giovani dos Santos as the Galaxy still haven’t announced the fate of the Mexican forward (the show was recorded on Thursday night at 7 p.m.). Will Josh simply be talking about something that is old news? Did he nail it on his predictions? And with the Galaxy announcing the signing of first-round draft pick, Emil Cuello, earlier in the week, will they also give him his first MLS start? Plus, with the season just days away, the Galaxy put out a ton of press releases that you don’t want to miss. They include a Zlatan Ibrahimovic appearance on late-night TV, upgrades to Dignity Health Sports Park, and the Galaxy Promotional calendar (LA Kings and LA Lakers nights). Finally, Josh shakes off the rust as he gets you ready for the Galaxy’s match against the Chicago Fire. Bring a rain jacket! All this and more in 60-minutes of Galaxy-talk that is headed your way! It was a rumor that rapidly got feet and has now taken over the entire Galaxy narrative just days before the season opener. Your hosts, Josh Guesman, and Kevin Baxter dive deep into what is happening around the club and when they knew that Kamara may want out of LA. Also, they’ll drop in behind the scenes to understand the motivation for the move. And it a complex set of things to understand. Could the Galaxy get better because of Kamara’s wish to leave? And what could the Galaxy actually get in terms of money for a striker of Kamara’s talents? We’ll let you know what the Galaxy had to say in their statement that was released today, and we’ll tell you what Guillermo Barros Schelotto had to say about Kamara and what the money might mean to the team. Additionally, we’ll discuss where Giovani dos Santos fits into all of this and why assumptions about his future might be all wrong. Is Giovani dos Santos playing hardball with the club? Will he sit out if he doesn’t get his way? And could the Galaxy be back to buying out his contract with just days left before the start of the season? It’s a packed show that will answer all your questions surrounding the Kamara trade. And it very well could mean multiple players hitting the roster before the transfer window closes for the Galaxy. Kevin will even throw in some special surprises at the beginning and end of the podcast. So, join us for 70 minutes of Galaxy-talk as we get you ready for a very busy week. COG T-SHIRT SALE: https://www.bonfire.com/cog-best-podcast-in-the-galaxy/ COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The Galaxy have officially kicked-off their 2019 preseason. The team took the field for the first time on Monday, and all the big names were there - even, to no one's surprise, Giovani dos Santos. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter, are tired from a long weekend of MLS events that provided some significant level of insight into the club. First, Kevin talks about his attendance at the Sigi Schmid memorial mass on Friday and what the big takeaway was. With MLS and US Soccer past and present in every pew of the church, Schmid was remembered in a way that highlighted his past and showed how many links he's had to so many of the big soccer events in the United States. Next, the guys dive into MLS Media Day and tell you why this event is such an interesting place to be. Josh and Kevin discuss some of their favorite players and breakdown their two conversations with Galaxy strikers Ola Kamara and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And with the Galaxy kicking off their preseason, there's plenty of discussion about who showed up to camp, who's missing, and who is expected to arrive shortly. This show will get you the latest information about Diego Polenta, Uriel Antuna, and two other names that should make their way to camp shortly. Plus, with multiple practices each day, the guys talk about the effect 60-year-old physical trainer Javier Valdecantos will have on this team and why he may be raising the level of athletic training in the United States. And maybe a little bit on why Ola Kamara called him "the butcher." Finally, Josh and Kevin will update you Galaxy alumni news as Ashley Cole signs with Derby County and Baggio Husidic shows up at LAFC training. We've got 60-minutes of some of the most informative Galaxy-talk on the planet. And we're glad you could join us! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy held their last media availability for the 2018 season earlier this week and CoG went with our microphone ready. What we got was nearly an hour of audio from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chris Klein, Ola Kamara, David Bingham, Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos and Romain Alessandrini that gave us some idea of what these players are thinking heading into a long offseason. On today's show, your host Josh Guesman is ready to break down some of that audio and highlight some of the more important quotes that came from that. And in doing so he'll be able to break down the exit-interviews and give you some perspective on what the guys are saying and what that means for the future of the Galaxy. Josh will focus in on Ibrahimovic and Klein, spending most of the show letting you hear exactly what those two had to say. And being that the Galaxy seem to be focused on keeping Ibrahimovic, it's important to note how each of the guys handle the questions. The firing of Pete Vagenas wasn't a surprise, and it was probably overdue, but it's clear the club is trying to make him this season's sacrificial lamb. And that the reorganization that is now taking place is about a 12 months behind. But we'll provide you with the audio and you can make some of your own decisions on the responses that were given. Finally, Josh will update you on the hottest rumor surrounding the Galaxy's General Manager search. Dennis Te Kloese is a big name in Mexico and does have some history with Major League Soccer. Could he be the answer to the Galaxy's questions? We've got over 80-minutes of soccer talk headed your way! Are you ready for it?! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy had a two-goal lead going into the second 45-minutes on Sunday, with a playoff spot all but locked up, and then conceded three goals to miss the playoffs and end the 2018 season in an embarrassing fashion. But did their actions after the game also rise to the level of embarrassing? And on Fan Appreciation Day?! On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's loss to the Houston Dynamo and why the Galaxy stumbled down the stretch in this game. Was it a simple matter of running out of gas? And why did Zlatan Ibrahimovic have such a quiet night? The guys will give you detailed accounts of the reaction from Dominic Kinnear and the rest of the players. Including some quotes from Ashley Cole, Romain Alessandrini, and Ola Kamara. Plus, you'll find out who had tears in their eyes as they spoke to the media. Josh and Kevin will also detail some of the questions regarding the coaching search and do a quick accounting of why Ibrahimovic might not be back and why Giovani dos Santos and others might be. Plus, could there be some adding by subtraction in the front office? And was that Ashley Cole's last game on the field? Josh will give you his opinion on the matter! Finally, the guys will give you all the news surrounding the Galaxy's Season Awards! That includes a little typo that we're sure the Galaxy have fixed by now, and some of the lower level awards as well. This show is over 90 minutes because there's just too much to break down! And besides, when the season is over so suddenly, it's best to ask all the questions and get all the insight! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

2018 COG SCARF SALE (COG20): https://corner-of-the-galaxy.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/2018-corner-of-the-galaxy-scarf COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy desperately needed three points against Minnesota United on Sunday, and that's exactly what they got. With goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ola Kamara, and Romain Alessandrini, it was difficult to find a Galaxy player who had a bad game. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are back to tell you what you can take from the turf victory and what the Galaxy need to be careful of as they get ready for a matchup with the already-eliminated Houston Dynamo. First, the guys are going to take you back over the highlights of the game and tell you why Dominic Kinnear is coaching differently than anyone else around the league. Could a lack of consequences be leading Kinnear to the best lineup? Or has his simple style of coaching made it palatable for all the Galaxy starters? And could he be coaching this way if he were to start the 2019 season? Josh and Kevin both have some oppositive views on this. But with a goal and an assist on the night, Ibrahimovic had some interesting words to the press afterward. Could rumors of a Real Madrid move be real? And could Ibrahimovic be angling for a move or more money? With the Galaxy needing to move pieces to get Ibrahimovic the money he deserves, could the club move someone like Alessandrini? Or do they finally rid themselves of Giovani dos Santos? 2019 is going to be a difficult year to manage and anyone they bring is going to have to try and build off the momentum of this season. Then the guys will tell you why Kamara just cost the team $100,000 and why that's not a small amount of money for the club. But also why it's probably worth every penny. Finally, Josh and Kevin will tell you when a potential playoff game could be played and why it might mean a busy sports night in the city of Angels. It's a great show and we're glad you could join us. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

But continued defensive issued once again marred a Galaxy victory and there may not be any answers to this puzzle! On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and LA Times soccer reporter Kevin Baxter are back to go back over all the good and the bad from that game and try and decide if the Galaxy should make some moves to make the defense better, or ride the wave of results to the playoffs. Coul they even be considered contenders at this point? First, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had another huge game for the club. His first Galaxy hat-trick follows another big Galaxy name. And it's been quite some time since someone in the blue, white, and gold put three into the back of the net in a single game. Josh and Kevin will next look at Giovani dos Santos and how the Mexican National teamer has been playing much better over the last couple of games. He scored a goal, assisted on another, and generally looked to be an important piece of the Galaxy's unlocking of Orlando. But is his self-imposed press exile hurting him with the fans, the league, and the press? Should the most expensive player on the field be able to shrug off his post-game responsibilities? Finally, the guys will look at the other impact players like Sebastian Lletget, Perry Kitchen, and Ola Kamara and see how they rubbed this game the right or wrong way. And does Sigi Schmid deserve some serious praise in how he's reconstructed the roster and how he makes his halftime adjustments? We've got 75 minutes of Galaxy-Talk headed your way! Don't miss it! CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy played like utter crap for about 70 minutes. And then they did what they always do when playing LAFC, they score goals. It's a draw that feels like a win and that's just fine by the club and its fans. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are ready to talk about another crazy El Trafico! I mean there have only been two and they're already synonymous with late-game heroics from the Galaxy. The Guys will look at the lineups, tell you where it all went sideways for most of the game and then really dig into the solutions that Sigi Schmid found. Does he deserve more credit? And why can't the Galaxy start out by scoring goals and staying ahead of teams -- we know we sound like a broken record. Josh will regale you with tales of Bob Bradley's profanity, and the will also discuss what Schmid, Romain Alessandrini, Ola Kamara, and even Carlos Vela had to say after the match. Plus, the guys will talk about is this a real rivalry already? Even with no history? And did the Galaxy's marketing stance on the game hurt a potential growth riser for the game? Or was it just another Thursday night MLS matchup between two teams that can't stand each other? Finally, the guys get you ready for the game against Orlando City and tell you exactly why it's a trap game, and why the Galaxy should be very focused on it! We've got a packed show that you're not going to want to miss! Trust us, we know good pod when we make it and this is good pod! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

CoG Studios, CA (Moscow, Russia) -- The LA Galaxy fell in their round-of-sixteen US Open Cup match in Portland by a score of 1-0. But in a very even match, there isn't much to get upset about. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman (CA, USA) and Kevin Baxter (Moscow, Russia) are back to give you the latest in Galaxy news and also touch on some tournament that is going on in Russia. With Kevin holding down the Moscow outpost and Josh firmly planted in Southern California, they've put together a show that will need to hold you over until the Galaxy get ready to play again on June 30. First, the guys will give you an update on the dos Santos brothers and why you didn't see them in Mexico's opening group-stage victory over Germany. Josh and Kevin will discuss Mexico's victory in that vein and also have some fun talking about the World Cup -- we don't get to do it every day. Then the guys will get you through the highlights of the Galaxy's loss to the Portland Timbers in the Open Cup including a first-half adjustment that Josh thinks could've prevented the only Timbers goal. And while the Galaxy losing is a big story, the guys will also discuss the injuries to Ola Kamara and Sebastian Lletget. Did the Galaxy actually weather the storm of rapid-fire games without too many broken bodies? And will the glutton of games continue after the World Cup break? Finally, Josh and Kevin will dive deep into the Galaxy's signing of defender Sheanon Williams, the release of defender Emrah Klimenta and why the timing all seems a little fishy. And did the Galaxy really keep a guy from an International call-up just to release him a couple weeks later? We're glad you could join us for 60-minutes of Galaxy talk and we can't wait to take a few days off in preparation for the second half of the Galaxy's season.
CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy battled out a tough draw against the Portland Timbers on Saturday afternoon. Despite some warm on-the-field temperatures, and without Ola Kamara or Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who didn't start), the Galaxy were able to get a goal from Chris Pontius and frustrate a red-hot Timbers team. So through all that, did the club figure some things out? Your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are back to bring you the best in Galaxy-talk, news, and entertainment. On today's show, they'll focus in on a bunch of interesting topics including the Galaxy's real success without having two of their best goal scorers in the starting lineup. Was Ibrahimovic's omission from the starting lineup due to injury concerns or was it just because he was tired? Or was it because the Galaxy tends to play differently when he's on the field? And where does David Bingham land in terms of all-time Galaxy performances? We're not actually sure. But one thing is for certain, he had one heck of a game on Saturday. And nine saves is a lot of saves. But the real meat of this podcast (we apologize to all the vegans for this comparison -- especially you Baggio), is talking about the Galaxy's policy regarding international call-ups and how they've been dishing out those rewards rather sparingly. Are the Galaxy being unfair when they don't allow Sebastian Lletget to go to the U.S. Men's National Team for a friendly, but they allowed Kamara? Is there some big difference between the two players that might explain why one player gets to go play with Norway and the other is expected to put in 90 minutes on plastic turf, in hot temperatures against the Timbers? Could the Galaxy be burning some bridges here? We've got nearly 70 minutes of Galaxy-talk on the way and you're not going to want to miss this short turnaround show! CoG Studios, CA -- How fun is it to do a show just hours after the final whistle blew? Tons of fun! And on today's show we're going to look at the LA Galaxy victory over the Montreal Impact and why the club needs to take their three points and run for the very chartered plane! Your hosts, Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter get you nearly instant reactions to the Galaxy victory over the Impact. They'll talk about the Ola Kamara and how much he's meant to the club and why it's important that they keep his productivity up. The guys will also take a hard look at Zlatan Ibrahimovic, his red card, and why this might be a concern for the club. But is anyone really worried after the club escapes with the win? And why was Sigi Schmid questioning the calling of the play? Should there have been a penalty kick awarded? Plus, do the Galaxy have a problem on their hands with the way Romain Alessandrini is acting? Has the Frenchman crossed a line when he was subbed off in the second half and refused to shake hands with the coaching staff? There are a ton of little lessons that were learned in today's win, and Josh and Kevin are trying their very best to bring you those insights, insights about the team and their travel, and insights about the front office and how they view Sigi Schmid. This game was a needed three points. But did the Galaxy grow as a club, or just get really lucky? Finally, the guys will make sure to take your calls and answer your questions in this fast-paced show that is covering all the talking points! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy got screwed! It's that simple! The officiating benefited one team and that team was not the Galaxy! On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are back to walk you through all the craziness that loss to the New York Red Bulls brought to StubHub Center. We'll discuss the hybrid starting lineup that had a bunch of changes no one was really expecting. We'll also discuss the positioning of Ola Kamara, Giovani dos Santos and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And we'll bring you all the post-game audio that will definitely see some Galaxy players getting fined! And that includes the only place you'll find the audio for Ashley Cole agreeing to pay David Bingham's fines before entering the media scrum! Josh and Kevin will also discuss why VAR is so frustrating and what MLS can do to fix it -- maybe it's time to get rid of it? Plus, maybe VAR isn't the culprit. Maybe it's just poor officiating not utilizing a tool that will make them look bad? The guys will also give you an update on Rolf Fletcher's injury and, just in case you're wondering if it got better, it didn't. Is Sigi Schmid's job in danger? Is Romain Alessandrini jealous that he's not "the man" anymore? And will Giovani dos Santos be headed to Russia? Finally, the guys give you all the latest Galaxy rumors and why one Italian joining the Galaxy might just make a ton of sense! Maybe too much sense! We've got over 100-minutes of Galaxy-talk headed your way, and we can't wait to kick it off! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy are getting prepared for the MLS SuperDraft and we're getting you prepared for the Galaxy as they rapidly approach the start of preseason camp. Will the Galaxy have all the pieces they need to be competitive in MLS in 2018? Your host Josh Guesman is joined by guest-host Eric "The Portuguese Hammer" Vieira (@GISHammer)from the Guys In Shorts LA Podcast. Eric brings some great Galaxy knowledge to the table and is very passionate about a team he's been watching since 1996. The guys open the show by discussing the draft and some likely targets for the team. Could the Galaxy actually draft a center back with the second overall pick in Friday's draft? Why would they need another defender? Or could the Galaxy be going after one of the very good domestic attacking players who could provide some depth at striker? Josh and Eric continue down that path as they talk about the Galaxy's hunt for a starting striker and why acquiring Columbus' Ola Kamara might cost them two bench players -- with one of those players being Emmanuel Boateng. Would you trade Boateng, Gyasi Zardes and some allocation money for Kamara? Or is the asking price too steep? And with rumors surrounding Chris Pontius coming to the Galaxy, could the club already have a replacement ready for Boateng's departure? Finally, the guys take some great phone calls, answer some questions, and talk a bit about the leak of the Galaxy's new first kit. Why is there a giant billboard with the new kit on it? And what do they think about the Galaxy's latest "throwback" design? It's a packed show full of ridiculously entertaining Galaxy talk and we're glad we could bring it to you. REMINDER: Josh will be out of town for the next week or so. Monday's show with Kevin Baxter will be canceled as well as next Thursday's live show. We'll be returning back to the studio on Tuesday, January 30. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy are only one week from starting their 2018 preseason. So as the roster continues to swell, will they find the striker they've been looking for? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are back with your weekly dose of Galaxy news and updates. And like usual, there is plenty to talk about. The guys will start off by talking about the imminent signing of Emrha Klimenta and where the defender will likely line up. Are there some injury concerns with the 26-year old Montenegrin international? And why does he seem like a solid pick up for the defense? Next, despite Josh's many protests, Kevin makes a case for the Galaxy signing Javier "Chicharito" Hernadez. With West Ham's horrible season, and the lack of playing time, could the Mexican National Team force a move to MLS? Or is Mexico the likely landing point for the Mexican International? And Josh will even come up with some creative ways - that totally break the rules - as to how the Galaxy could sign Hernandez. Next, it's on to the rumor that keeps on giving! Josh and Kevin will discuss why the Philadelphia Union might be the key to the Galaxy landing Ola Kamara. And this in the face of La Liga rumors that a mid-table team may be inquiring about Kamara. And what's the latest on Rodrigo Aguirre? Well, we'll discuss it and try and figure out if there is an advantage to either player joining the Galaxy. It might be a case of 28 being less than 23. Finally, Josh and Kevin go over the roster to give you their starting lineups if everything held just like it is now. Where does Gyasi Zardes play if the Galaxy acquire a striker? Can Zardes be effective from the bench? It's a great show filled with 60-minutes of Galaxy talk! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
Harrison and Ian return from the 2017 break to discuss some of the major turning points in MLS this off-season. They discuss the highly anticipated arrival of Barco to Atlanta as well as their acquisition of Darlington Nagbe.
CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy are in hot pursuit of several options at striker. But if you read the comments from twitter everyone is asking why the Galaxy are going so small? On today's show, host Josh Guesman will remind you of all the roster rules the Galaxy currently have and why it's important to take some risks on some smaller names that could give you a huge payoff. First Josh will start off going over all the recent signings of players. Including Perry Kitchen, David Bingham, and Servando Carrasco. You'll find out how much each trade cost the Galaxy and where each is expected to fit into the lineup. Have the Galaxy finally put enough pieces together that a starting lineup can be formed? How's the team starting to shape up? Are you satisfied that Sigi Schmid has a plan? Next, we'll shift into some of the most ridiculous rumors this side of the Mississipi. As you attempt to sign Chicharito (Javier Hernandez) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Josh pushes back and forces some of MLS' very best roster rules on you. Why does the deal with Ola Kamara still make sense? And why could the Colorado Rapids be pulling ahead in the race to land him? And does it have anything to do with Rodrigo Aguirre's name being thrown into the Galaxy hat? But should the club take a risk on a 23-year old striker who has a history of Knee problems? There are so many different reactions to all of these players that we're glad we had so many calls. We'll answer all the calls, all your twitter questions, and a lot more! The floodgates have opened. MLS news is coming thick and fast as GMs, coaches and scouts work to build opening day rosters that will get them into the playoffs. The guys start with the LA Galaxy, who traded for Perry Kitchen and are quietly having a sneaky solid offseason. Plus, what's Ola Kamara worth on the MLS trade market? How about Lee Nguyen, who says he wants out of New England? Play your kids! That's a refrain you hear often on ETR. Andrew, Matt and Ben dig into all the South American prospects who've joined the league this winter -- no, not Barco, yet -- and wonder what it all means for Homegrowns and other young domestic players. Finally, more drama for the Canadian national team as Octavio Zambrano lasts just 10 months as the head coach of the men's national team. His replacement? Well, let's just say you'll want Daniel Squizzato's explanation for why John Herdman, previously the women's coach, is switching roles.
For the first week in January, there sure was a lot of D.C. United news and Filibuster is here to cover it. Jason, Adam, and Ben open the show (3:39) by discussing the recently announced MLS schedule and what it means for D.C. United, their big roadtrips, and their many appearances on national TV. We discuss the three United players called up to the USMNT and the fact that Jonathan Gonzalez has chosen to play for Mexico instead. We end the first segment by discussing United's trade of the rights of Perry Kitchen and whether or not we would want to trade for Ola Kamara or Justin Meram, both of whom are rumored to want out of Columbus. In the second segment (41:46) we welcome on our old friend Travis Clark of Top Drawer Soccer to talk about the MLS SuperDraft. We ask Travis whether or not this draft class is weak and who the best available players are that D.C. United could take at the third spot. We discuss the fact that the Generation adidas class is mostly international players and discuss the top picks in the draft and from the DMV. We also theorize about what would happen if D.C. United traded down, and talk about the possibility of Eryk Williamson going abroad and what that means for United. Give it a listen!
CoG Studios, CA -- The LA Galaxy have a player called into the USMNT January camp, and then add two the roster where they finally get a goalkeeper. We've got a packed show filled with roster additions, player updates and the hunt for a striker! Your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter put together over 60-minutes of Galaxy talk. This is in-depth analysis and coverage that you can't get anywhere else from two people who spend almost all their time covering the team. On today's show, your hosts will get you updated on Gyasi Zardes as he gets a call-up to the USMNT. Is there a reason he shouldn't be on the team? Is this good for Zardes? Good for the Galaxy? Or just bad for US Soccer? Plus the guys will give you an update on Sebastian Lletget and tell you why he's not going to be with US Soccer for the camp but instead with the Galaxy at theirs. Next, the guys will turn their attention to the newest signings for the Galaxy as Goalkeeper David Bingham and defensive midfielder Servando Carrasco finally ink deals with the club bringing the 2018 roster to just under 20 players. But do the Galaxy still have another player that could be on the cusp of signing? Is Perry Kitchen still a target for the Galaxy as they march closer and closer to the start of camp? Josh and Kevin will also discuss the ongoing pursuit of Columbus' Ola Kamara. Is this the striker the Galaxy are looking for and is it possible he makes his way to the club before the start of the season? Finally, the guys will tell you about January 21st jersey unveiling and why LA Live is the perfect place to set up shop for the night. We've got a ton of Galaxy news to listen to, and we're glad you could join us!

Three more teams locked up their playoff seeds this weekend but chaos still reigns as teams fight to get above the redline. Matt and Ben join David as he tries to pull the strings in midfield one last time in place of Andrew. DC United got the biggest win of the weekend over a fading Orlando City SC and Patrick Mullins takes the time to call in. He discuss his fight for playing time in his career, current goal scoring run, and favorite DC eateries ahead of a midweek redline clash with Columbus (Wednesday 9/26, 7:30 pm ET on MLS Live.) The guys also breakdown Jordan Morris’s improvement this season, Ola Kamara’s star potential, and debate a potential PK for Jozy Altidore. In the second segment MLS is gonna MLS as Portland falters on the road once again and Colorado starts scoring but forgets to play defense. Then the guys look forward to four massive midweek MLS games that could decide playoff fates for Seattle, Columbus, and DC and could spell doom for Orlando, Montreal, or San Jose. On top of MLS action Portland, FC Dallas, and New York Red Bulls have CCL action that could decide their groups as the round comes to a close. In the mailbag referees pick up assists, the guys discuss USMNT manager shortlist (Doyle adds a surprise name), and Chicago Fire fans lament the lack of playing time for the kids.
