Can We Agree on What Skilled Mindfulness-Based Teaching Looks Like? Lessons from Studying the MBI:TACIn this episode, Dr. Jud Brewer and Dr. Rebecca Crane explore the Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI:TAC), a widely used tool for assessing the competence of mindfulness-based program (MBP) teachers. As mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) gain popularity in clinical and workplace settings, ensuring teaching integrity and program fidelity becomes increasingly important. This study tested a training model to help mindfulness teachers reliably assess MBP teaching quality. The findings show that international MBP teachers can align their understanding of teaching competence, paving the way for standardized mindfulness education. Tune in to learn how mindfulness training is evolving to maintain high standards in research and practice.Full Reference:Crane, R. S., Hecht, F. M., Brewer, J. A., Griffith, G. In this episode, Mark explains the concept of confidence, particularly when it comes to addressing physical insecurities. He discusses how society's standards of beauty can affect self-worth and how overcoming these beliefs can help individuals become more attractive to others. The key message is that confidence, rather than physical appearance, is the true magnet for attraction. Mark's focus is on empowering men to embrace their true selves without apologies, helping them become more confident, successful, and self-assured in all aspects of life, especially in their interactions with women.
Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com ESTHER - SHE'S GOT THE LOOKS THAT KILL *Even your good looks are for Gods purpose. Don't hesitate to understand that your looks are God given and maybe not so much for your social media following, or landing the right husband, but for Gods purpose. Supermodel Cameron Russel said she won the genetic lottery… I believe there was a greater draw TO ESTHER beyond her beauty and virginity… there was a innocence to her.. the virgins from Persia were hardened by the lifestyle…They had a different mindset… Esther was not. HOW DO YOU STAND OUT FROM HUNDREDS OF BEAUTIFUL WOMEN? - Esthers beauty went beyond just looks. There was a purity an innocence that is by far more attractive than just looks. HER VIRGINITY YES BUT ALSO No bitterness No fear No mixed motives No World influence No pride/arrogance But how do you stand out if you are obese, deformed, or in your words “the wrong skin color”. Well very much the same way… A beautiful woman more than once has thought “I am not going to let my good looks get in the way of what I really want and deserve”. I want this because I am qualified, and not because I am a genetic freak. I am going to believe what I believe about myself because of who I am in Christ and not who I am in the mirror… you can tweet that. I BELIEVE WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT MYSELF BECAUSE OF WHO I AM IN CHRIST, NOT WHO I AM IN THE MIRROR. If you were obese and I called you a fat pig… you would get mad. If others heard me they would scold me, they would reprimand me and think I was a person full of hate… but the truth is that obese person gets up every morning and speaks those things over their life… and no one cares, no one gets upset… and why -simply because they say them in their head… but still because of what they see. Get your head in the Bible and out of the mirror.
THE GOD OF GOOD LOOKS SUMMARYCombining the honesty, warmth, and humour of Queenie and a modern-day Bridget Jones's Diary, award-winning writer Breanne Mc Ivor's entertaining, transportive, and luminous debut novel follows a young Trinidadian woman finding her voice and a new kind of happy ending.Bianca Bridge has always dreamt of becoming a writer. But Trinidadian society can be unforgiving, and having an affair with a married government official is a sure-fire way to ruin your prospects. So when Obadiah Cortland, a notoriously tyrannical entrepreneur in the island's beauty scene, offers her a job, Bianca accepts, realizing that working on his magazine is the closest to her dreams she'll get. Sharp-witted and fiercely fun, The God of Good Looks alternates between Bianca's diary entries and Obadiah's first-person narrative to portray modern Trinidad's rigid class barriers and the fraught impact of beauty commodification in a patriarchal society. Boisterous, moving, and full of meaty, universally relatable questions, Mc Ivor's sparkling debut is an open-hearted, awakening tale about prejudice and pride, the masks we wear, and what we can become if we dare to take them off.Breanne Mc Ivor is an award-winning writer with degrees in English from the universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh and a certificate in Advanced Professional Makeup Artistry; she lives in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago.

If you're gonna get in a bar fight, better know who's got your back. Man fights self, god, society and whiskey on Good Looks' debut Bummer Year. The Austin, Texas outfit are a cobbled together quartet of dudes from across the Lone Star State, each with stories of small towns filled with late-capitalism rot. Lead singer Tyler Jordan looks over his shoulder constantly, both to his past and trying to figure out who's still following him through the brutality of service industry jobs, failed romance and political nihilism. “My body could be put to better use/ Instead of working all day long/ For someone else's dream to come,” he sighs on “21” as Jake Ames' chiming guitar rings out from the heavens. Like the best Alt-Country albums, Bummer Year alleviates its darkest corners with rays of warmth and fierceness. The title track compels the working class to spill into the streets and “First Crossing” is a neat handbook on the best waterholes to trespass into across Texas. While talking with Jordan, we chatted about Ames' recent stay in the hospital, after being struck by a car right as the band were releasing the album. Ames is recovering, in part, thanks to a successful Gofundme page and a fundraiser concert that saw the whole of Austin come out on his behalf. But the crushing worry of health care costs combined with the warm hope given by musicians of all sorts coming out of the woodwork reflects the core of Bummer Year. The world will try to crush you, you're gonna need some friends to survive.

After a brief Sportscast on the media meltdown over Caitlin Clark's early stint in the WNBA (0:30), Steven and Ian have perhaps the least likely conversation in Indiecast history about Ian going to a Sarah McLachlan concert (!) and seeing a fight almost break out (!!) (7:21). They also talk about Steven's upcoming book event on June 11 at Book Soup in LA that Ian is hosting (19:25).From there, they talk about the new album from Texas band Good Looks, Lived Here For A While, which is one of 2024's best indie rock records along with being one of the easiest to root for (22:54). They also talk about Brat, the new album by Charli XCX, as well as a larger conversation about how “indie pop” became known as “middle class pop” (32:54). Finally, they conclude with a discussion of The Killers' Hot Fuss, which turns 20 this week (42:51).In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks up the emo band Southtowne Lanes while Steven recommends the Indianapolis band Everything, Now! Indiecast went on as usual last week, but Steven and Ian haven't actually recorded together in about two weeks. (It feels more like six months.) Steven was off recording the audiobook of his forthcoming Springsteen book There Was Nothing You Could Do (out May 28!), and he recounts the experience. (It was hard but rewarding!) (9:45). After a brief tangent about the recent "13 Albums To Know You" prompt that went viral on social media, the guys do a lightning round of news that they missed — a new St. Vincent album, a very Ian-friendly emo festival, a very Steven-friendly pairing of The National and The War On Drugs for a joint tour, and a conversation about whether Yo La Tengo is a jam band (14:20). The guys also give an update on their Fantasy Album Draft teams, after recent records by Mannequin Pussy, Faye Webster, and Yard Act (32:02).In the mailbag (38:22), a listener asks about favorite performances by musicians in movies. While Ian is partial to Cam'ron in Killa Season, Steven gives a laundry list of actor/musicians that ranges from Kris Kristofferson to Ice-T.In Recommendation Corner (50:13), Ian talks about the Canadian band Little Kid while Steven raves about the new single from Texas heartland rock group Good Looks.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday.
