Furlong offers a history of the Living Center and its evolution into Sage Living, emphasizing the need for a larger, more home-like space. She describes the collaboration with architects to design a dedicated music and art center. The two talk about the significant impact music therapy has had in their community for the past eight years, including how it has fostered resident engagement and outcomes such as reduced isolation and decreased use of psychotropic meds. Camino's work was showcased in the short film documentary, "Something Changed in the Room," a winner at the Toronto Documentary Feature & Short Film Festival in 2024.She shares her journey and the introduction of music therapy at Sage Living Center, explains the initial skepticism from the hospital staff and the successful pilot program they implemented.  Whatever your notion might be of what a ‘music therapist' does and the value it can bring to each of us, this conversation will inspire you to think and do differently. ICE SAGE: Living and Loving the Land Poems by Levi Lyle

This collection of poems offers an intriguing glimpse into the reflections of a young organic farmer with a mind as fertile as the Iowa soil he nurtures. These are not simple homespun rhymes, but poems that express a discerning array of insights and emotions elicited by life close to the land. There is grief over the appalling loss of family farms and our bankrupt wildlife; admiration of the prairie, where “perennials reign”; anger and despair over the damage done to soil, food, and human health by Big Ag; and humor and delight in the imagery of kids as “shoelace seed-savers,” soil microbes “taking winter siesta,” and many others. There is (justified) cynicism here, but there is also a good deal of hope in the authors determination to farm and live in a healthier way. —Kathy Woida, author of (Iowa's Remarkable Soils: The Story of Our Most Vital Resource and How We Can Save It.)

One of my favorite books on design, and one that's had a lot of influence on how I think about helping clients with figuring out their aesthetic, is by Anne Sage and it's called Sage Living.  In this episode, which originally aired in 2016, we talk with Anne about her realization that her home could be a source of support as she was making a major life transition.  She talks candidly about her personal life and how her professional life has taken many different turns, with the ups and downs all of us can relate to.  I think you're going to get a lot out of this episode when it comes to connecting the dots between how you want to feel and how your home can foster your goals.

We Get to Know stylist, interior designer and blogger Anne Sage of annesage.com and @citysage. It was a real pleasure talking to Anne, the founder of the popular design blog annesage.com.  After graduating from Stanford, Anne found herself living in NYC working as a consumer strategist but not totally sold on the direction of her life.  With a strong interest in design and all things pretty,  Anne began her blog in 2008 and the rest, as they say, is history.  She is naturally creative and constantly coming up with great business ideas.  She co-founded Rue Magazine; a gorgeous online design and entertainment magazine filled with incredible lifestyle inspiration.  She also founded a beautiful and successful event studio in Los Angeles, called Light Lab.  This space is used for marketing and advertising projects with brands like Food Network, Disney, and Lay’s.  Anne is also the author of an interiors book entitled Sage Living, which was released Fall 2015 from Chronicle Books. In this interview, Anne tells her story and talks about how she splits her time between maintaining her social platforms and offering client services in art direction and photo styling, interior design, and social media consulting.  She tells a bit about growing up in Canada and her love of British television.  Anne currently lives in beautiful Southern California with her husband and their 4 pets.   Visit wegettoknow.com to explore original and guest related content and to learn more about our podcasts and guests. Trigger warning: This conversation is not an easy one to have or listen to, but Anne’s courage to share her experience and her truth are especially important right now as we take a much-needed look at mental health, learning how to speak about our own needs, and learn how to support each other. Whatever your own personal truth, our hope is that this discussion will remind you that no matter how perfect and pretty an Instagram feed may look, we’re all fighting our own battles. One day at a time, may we truly unravel the aloneness that social media can amplify, and remember that we are all in this together. Anne Sage is a Content Creator. As a blogger, stylist, author and influencer she’s been navigating the road less travelled in an industry that is still unfolding. Back 2008 Anne, in hopes of having a running resume ready for Martha Stewart Living, started a blog. It was during the time when lifestyle and interior design blogs were still new and the community was small and supportive. In the past ten years Anne has witnessed the birth and boom of the blogging industry. In this episode, learn how Anne navigated the challenges and benefits of an industry, and has been able to pivot to be a full-time content creator, stylist, writer, and creative. Anne is a wellspring of wisdom and insight and is acutely aware of the over saturation in the content creation industry. She breaks down useful ways to utilize the best platform for your audience. She gives examples on how to identify the value of your posting when in conversation with potential brand partnerships, and reminds us all to thinking about the long game. Anne asks us to uncover our why (to share a passion, tell a story or make money?), and doesn’t mince words when asked her opinion on the matter. Anne has written a lifestyle book, Sage Living, remodeled and opened a photography studio, The Light Lab, and is now working on a memoir, TBD. She is a woman who is willing to listen, learn and take risks and as a result creates inspiration for days. Please follow Anne @citysage on Instagram and Twitter, and @annesage on Facebook. We first came across Anne Sage through her book, "Sage Living".  We were drawn to the subtitle, "Decorate for The Life You Want," because it sounded like she would be talking about the very substantial link we believe in, between your home and the foundation of a happy life.  And we were not disappointed!  This book is full of practical, hands-on ideas for setting up your home in ways that will help you bring your life goals to fruition.  So, we're going to be asking Anne a lot about the book, but she also talks a little bit about her blog, City Sage, which you should definitely check out.
