Stylist, salon owner, and trauma-informed mentor Kim Russell shares how foster care, adoption, and early survival patterns shaped her empathy, leadership, and mission to create safe spaces. We talk behavior as communication, complex vs. single-event trauma, and how adults can better support teens. Key takeaways Behavior = communication from the body. Trauma lives in the body; safety comes first. “People-pleasing” often begins as protection. Belonging changes trajectories (her vo-tech turning point). Trauma-informed = lived experience + learning + healing. Connect with Kim: Website IG TikTok FB LinkedIn

Send us a textHave you ever stood in front of your closet, staring at a sea of clothes, and thought, "I have nothing to wear"? (Even though your hangers are practically begging for mercy?) We've all been there — but what if that moment wasn't about the clothes at all, but about who you're becoming? This week, we're diving into a topic that's more than fabrics or what's “on trend.” It's about style as a mirror for your soul. We're joined by Amanda Weil, the Soul Stylist, who takes us beyond shopping bags and Pinterest boards to show how what we wear can align with who we truly are — and who we're becoming.Amanda shares her story of leaving corporate America, shedding layers of “fitting in,” and creating her Style Awakenings process. Along the way, she reveals why clothes can carry old identities, how detoxing your closet can be as freeing as a coaching session, and why style isn't about rules — it's about resonance.Inside this episode, you'll discover:Why your wardrobe may be holding onto your “shadow self” (and how to release it).How mirror work, mantras, and intentional dressing can build new neural pathways of confidence. How shopping becomes transformational when rooted in vision, not comparison.Surprising ways a closet clear-out can spark abundance in business, relationships, and wellbeing. We also explore how style and neuroscience intersect, unpacking why external validation (compliments, head turns, Instagram likes) gives us a dopamine hit — and how to flip the script to generate confidence from the inside out.If you're a high-achieving woman leader who's felt the pressure of perfection, feared being “not enough,” or longed to feel fully aligned — inside and out — this conversation is your invitation to reclaim your essence. You'll leave inspired to stop hiding behind old outfits, outdated identities, or someone else's version of “success,” and instead show up as the bold, radiant, unstoppable version of you.So, what story is your style telling about you today? Does it match the leader you're becoming? Tune in, reflect, and maybe grab a bag (for donations, not shopping!) as you step into your own soul style transformation.Follow: @mandaweilstyle on Instagram & DM her for your free Soul Style Guide.

Chicken and Waffles, shrimp and grits, powdered sugar on top of fresh French toast—not to mention bottomless mimosas. For those not addicted to social media, that spells brunch. According to listwithclever.com, New Orleans, Indianapolis and San Francisco are ranked among the top cities in the country for that late-morning, breakfast/lunch hybrid. Although Nashville is known for music, food, and satiating that grumbling stomach after church, it seemingly lags behind other brunch-centric cities. On today's show, we take a look at the brunch scene in Nashville. We'll speak with chefs and restaurant owners, as well as experts in the field of catering and fashion to better understand the culture and history of brunch and its local impact. This episode was produced by Anthony White and Josh Deepan.Guests John Smith, SOUL Restaurant Owner Jerod Wilcher, ButterFLY Garden Restaurant Owner Jovia King, Event Planner, Thirty Plus Events Milton White, Stylist, The Fashion Office
Women are often praised for being “good” but what if goodness is holding us back from being whole? In this deeply thought-provoking episode, bestselling author Elise Loehnen returns to discuss her new workbook, Choosing Wholeness Over Goodness, a companion to her New York Times bestseller, On Our Best Behavior. They explore how deeply ingrained cultural programming shapes women's identities, expectations, and stories, often without our awareness. Elise breaks down the seven “sins” that subconsciously govern women's lives, including the good girl script, perfectionism, and self-sacrifice, and teaches us how to reclaim power by choosing truth and wholeness over performance and fear. You'll learn tangible tools for self-inquiry including “fact versus story”, how to identify fear responses, naming personas, and how to recognize if you're caught in a drama triangle. This episode is rich with insights, tools, and real-life examples that will help you begin to shift your internal stories, access deeper self-compassion, and build stronger, healthier boundaries. It's not about being a better woman—it's about being more you. Listen to today's episode on our website Elise Loehnen is a writer, editor, and podcast host who lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Rob, and their two sons, Max and Sam. She is the host of Pulling the Thread, a podcast focused on pulling apart the stories we tell about who we are—and then putting those threads back together. Ultimately Elise is a seeker and synthesizer, braiding together wisdom traditions, cultural history, and a deep knowledge of healing modalities to unlock new ways to contextualize who we are and why we're here. She's also the author of the instant New York Times bestseller On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good (Dial Press/PRH). The book weaves together history, memoir, and cultural criticism to explore the ways patriarchy lands in the bodies of women and embeds itself in our consciousness—and what we then police in ourselves and in each other. Regardless of our religious provenance, the self-denial implicit in each of the Seven Deadly Sins—Sloth, Envy, Pride, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Anger—reads like a checklist of what it means to be a “good” woman. With awareness, we can begin to recognize these patterns of self-restriction, break the story, and move ourselves and each other toward freedom and balance. Elise is a frequent contributor to Oprah, and has written for The New York Times, Elle Decor, Stylist, and more.
