If you dread opening Slack on Monday mornings, if you can't take time off without chaos, if you're working all day only to finish admin tasks at night, your business doesn't fit your life anymore. What if making one intentional, alcohol-free day didn't have to feel like a test of willpower or a white-knuckle challenge you had to survive? In this practical solo episode, your host Anna Donaghey shares a clear, step-by-step structure for what a supported, intentional day off drinking can look like in real life.Inspired by a listener who found Dry January a “white-knuckle ride,” Anna explores why sustainable change isn't about deprivation or strict rules, but about adding support, care, and intention into your day. She'll walk you through gentle but powerful tools you can use: from a simple morning check-in and choosing your mantra, to micro-habits that help transition from work mode to rest mode without defaulting to a drink. No matter if you're struggling to string one alcohol-free day together or just want to experiment with drinking less, this toolkit breaks it down into doable, kind steps so you can approach the question of drinking with more choice and less self-judgment.Here are the Highlights:00:00 Welcome back and the listener question behind this episode00:55 Why lasting change is rarely about willpower01:39 “I struggle to put even one alcohol-free day together”03:02 Sustainable change is about adding support, not just removing alcohol04:07 What does one intentional alcohol-free day actually look like?05:26 Starting with a gentle morning check-in (and why it matters)07:27 Have a “coffee with yourself” and checking in on your needs09:25 Choosing a mantra to anchor your day15:29 Micro-rests and working with the day you really have17:36 Hydration as an act of self-care, not just another box to tick20:45 How being well-resourced softens evening cravings21:08 Dealing with the “witching hour”23:33 Finding new rituals to mark the threshold between work and rest26:20 The importance of identity cues, not just discipline27:31 Ending the day with a gentle reflection (not a journaling marathon)30:30 One intentional day is always worth coming back to33:30 How to get more support with the Thirsty For More Mindset Lab.Anna's book "What Are You Thirsty For? What if the limits we feel around age, change, and possibility aren't real but simply old, worn-out stories we've inherited? In this energising episode, Anna Donaghey is joined by Allison Davis, traditional naturopath and author of ‘Sixty is a Good Start: A Powerful Body, a Purposeful Life, and a Plan to Make it Happen', to bust wide open the myth that it's ever “too late” to rethink your life or your drinking.Together, Anna and Allison explore the deep-seated cultural scripts that tell us when we should want less, slow down, or shrink our dreams. Allison shares her own journey: becoming a new mom at fifty, reclaiming her health in her mid-fifties, writing a book at sixty, and refusing to let a single decade define what's possible. You'll hear how small, sustainable routines, what Allison calls the “self-perpetuating circle of purpose” can help us create vibrant lives at any age. Here are the Highlights:00:00 Rethinking the script on age and alcohol00:41 The “too late” myth and culturally inherited limitations02:15 Allison's story: parenting, fitness, writing, and starting new chapters08:30 How the narratives about age take root and how to question them13:02 Introducing the “circle of purpose”15:02 Why real longevity is about energy, not just living longer16:00 Learning to listen to your body (instead of just managing it)19:13 Alcohol, numbing, and re-awakening to what you really need25:00 The role of the inner critic32:40 The power of “threshold moments”34:02 Rethinking “world work”: purpose, connection, and creating a life worth living39:06 Loneliness and the vital importance of connection as we age42:08 Introducing the Sixty-Day Dare: baby steps toward a bigger, richer life43:00 Why sustainable change is always made up of doable, micro-shifts46:46 Simple places to begin: water, movement, and intentional choices48:13 “Is this enough?” The question that can start everything over, at any age.Anna's book "What Are You Thirsty For? The moment midlife asks more of you, and the trust and fear issues that may be holding you back.Midlife doesn't usually announce itself with a crisis.More often, it shows up quietly — as restlessness, hesitation, or the sense that the life you've built no longer fits the way it used to.In this special episode of the School of Midlife Podcast, host Laurie Reynoldson is sharing a live recording from the final day of a recent masterclass — a conversation about trust, fear, and the moment midlife asks us to choose differently. Not because something is wrong. But because something more is possible. In this episode, we explore:Why hesitation in midlife is often a trust issue, not a clarity issueThe three fears that keep high-achieving women stuck:fear of judgment (What will they think of me?)fear of failure (What if I'm not good enough?)fear of success (What if I actually do the thing?)Why waiting is still a decision — and how default choices quietly shape our livesHow identity shifts in midlife impact our decisions, relationships, and sense of selfThe ripple effects of choosing yourself — in your marriage, your family, and the legacy you're modeling for your childrenWhy regret doesn't come from trying and failing — but from never trying at allThis is not a conversation about blowing up your life or starting over. It's about learning how to stop overthinking, trust yourself again, and make intentional choices aligned with who you are now — not who you were ten or twenty years ago.If you've been feeling stuck between the life you have and the life you want, this episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask an honest question:What would it look like to choose differently — on purpose?Want to Go Deeper? The BEST LIFE Lab is a guided coaching experience for high-achieving midlife women who are ready to stop waiting and start choosing their lives intentionally — with clarity, support, and self-trust.You can learn more here.
I am so happy to have my friend, Peter Bedard joining me again on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast. Meet Peter Bedard. Peter Bedard has an MA in consciousness studies and has extensive training in hypnotherapy and alternative health. He is a celebrated author, consultant, international speaker, and healer. After a near-death experience, Peter was faced with the greatest challenge of all. Namley, living a life in severe physical, emotional, and spiritual pain and anxiety. The former dancer soon discovered that the anger, frustration, and anxiety that he felt, because of his injuries, were not only keeping him in pain. Instead, they were waiting to teach him the greatest gifts of his life. Convergence Healing. This is a amazing, proven 10-point process. Peter explains noninvasive, life-altering practices to help you permanently heal your mind, body, and spirit. His process to heal chronic pain is without prescription medicine. Peter has also written 2 other books that he spoke about on the podcast. Read more here. Peter’s Takeaways. “You can heal! When we heal on all levels of our being, we can create a healing plan for ourselves that is doable and actionable. Every pain, whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual, must be addressed on all of those levels. A broken bone needs to be healed physically AND mentally in the mind.” “A broken heart needs to be healed emotionally on the spirit/energetic level AND in our physical bodies. To neglect any part of the healing process is to neglect ourselves and to force the problem into other parts of our lives.” “Someone newly sober and not drinking, must address the “emptiness” they feel physically and not fill that emptiness with cigarettes or sugar. They must give their body a new way to process the pain that the addiction was hiding and they must address the wound in their heart that was caused by the drinking…not to forget the wound that potentially prompted the drinking.” In Closing. Above all, Peter has helped thousands of people overcome pain and the fearful shadow it has cast over their lives. As a result, he helps his clients to live a life to their full potential. While at the same time, by integrating the lessons of pain, including physical, mental, and spiritual lessons into balanced living. Lastly, Peter will share his process of doing so. This includes his process for “Steps for Creating the Life You Want.” Thank you Peter for sharing your story with us. Conversations + Connections = Community Making the world a better place. What if change doesn't start with a dramatic rock bottom or a grand decision, but with the tiniest flickers of awareness? In this reflective episode, Anna Donaghey shines a light on those often-overlooked “tiny clarity moments”, the split seconds when you see your drinking, and your habits, with fresh honesty.Anna shares personal stories and insights from her work as an alcohol mindset coach, exploring how real transformation rarely starts with ultimatums or huge declarations. Instead, it begins with small, honest realisations. You didn't start your business to quietly resent it. And yet, a lot of successful entrepreneurs wake up one day realizing the business grew… but their life somehow got smaller. In this episode, I'm talking about what it really looks like to build a business without sacrificing your life outside of it, not someday, not after the next milestone, but now. In this episode, we sit down with the incredible Katherine Woodward Thomas, and honestly—you're going to feel this one in your bones. We dive into why so many of us do all the insight-oriented healing work, understand our trauma inside and out… and still feel stuck repeating the same patterns. Katherine helps us name the missing piece: learning how to orient toward a future self that's bigger than our past.Together, we explore how identity, trauma, and self-beliefs quietly shape our choices, our relationships, and our sense of what's possible. This conversation is rich, hopeful, and deeply practical—especially if you've ever thought, “I know why I'm like this… so why isn't anything changing?” Press play if you're ready to imagine (and move toward) a different future without bypassing the real work it takes to get there. Episode Highlights: [0:00] – We set the stage: midlife, therapy, and why insight alone isn't always enough [2:00] – Katherine shares her personal healing journey and what therapy couldn't fully change [5:45] – The power of “positive possible selves” and why the future shapes us as much as the past [9:40] – Naming self-limiting beliefs and how trauma freezes identity [13:10] – Source Fracture Stories: the core narratives that quietly run our lives [17:00] – Becoming the wise, compassionate adult you didn't have growing up [21:30] – Shifting from victimhood to choice and personal agency [26:00] – Opposite action, growth mindset, and doing what feels terrifying—but transformative [31:00] – Why this work changes lives faster than insight alone [35:00] – Conscious Uncoupling, legacy, and turning pain into contribution Resources:Katherine's website: https://katherinewoodwardthomas.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/katherinewoodwardthomas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/katherinewoodwardthomas/ If today's discussion resonated with you or sparked curiosity, please rate, follow, and share "Insights from the Couch" with others. Sissy Goff and David Thomas sit down with Dr. Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, to talk about helping kids—and parents—understand, express, and regulate emotions with wisdom and compassion. Drawing from his own story and decades of research, Marc unpacks why all emotions are information, explains the RULER framework in a practical, parent-friendly way, and offers concrete tools for navigating big feelings at home. From being an “emotion scientist” instead of a judge to learning how to observe rather than absorb our kids' overwhelm, this episode is full of hopeful, actionable insights for raising emotionally healthy kids in today's world. What if your money stopped dictating your schedule and started supporting the life you actually want to live? Joe Saul-Sehy welcomes CFP Dana Anspach of Sensible Money as special guest co-host for an episode featuring this week's mentor, Andy Hill. Andy shares how he stepped away from the corporate grind, redesigned his priorities, and built a life where family and flexibility came first. His story isn't about escaping work. It's about building a financial foundation that gives you options. Then the conversation shifts to a headline that caught everyone's attention: NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and his wife Samantha are suing their insurance company, calling the life insurance they purchased "a scam." Dana uses this case to break down one of the most misunderstood areas in personal finance: life insurance. From Indexed Universal Life (IUL) policies to knowing when insurance is a tool and when it's a distraction, she shows how clarity of goals should drive every decision and how to avoid the traps that caught even high earners like the Buschs. The episode also touches on estate planning, scams to watch out for, how young adults should think about budgeting and debt, and how to evaluate whether paying off loans or investing is the better move for your situation. It connects the dots between time freedom, smart planning, and protecting what you're building. What You'll Learn: • How to design your finances around the life you want, not just the paycheck you earn • What "owning your time" really means and how to start moving in that direction • Why your financial plan should begin with values and priorities, not products • How to think about entrepreneurship without blowing up your financial stability • What the Kyle Busch insurance lawsuit reveals about life insurance products and sales tactics • The truth about Indexed Universal Life insurance and when it may or may not make sense • How to evaluate life insurance based on goals instead of sales pitches • How estate planning protects your family and your legacy • The pros and cons of paying off loans versus investing • Budgeting principles that help young adults build strong money habits early • How to recognize and avoid financial scams (including insurance product traps) • Why celebrating progress matters just as much as setting the next goal This Episode Is For You If: • You feel like your money controls your life instead of supporting it • You want more flexibility and time freedom but don't know how to fund it • You're confused about whether life insurance products are helping or just costing you (especially after hearing about the Busch lawsuit) • You're trying to figure out the right order of financial moves (debt vs investing, insurance vs saving) • You want your financial plan to reflect your actual values, not just what you're "supposed" to do This episode is about aligning your money with your life. If you're ready to stop reacting to your finances and start using them to build more freedom, flexibility, and confidence, this one belongs at the top of your queue. If you've been doing all the “right” manifestation work but still feel stuck, frustrated, or like nothing is landing — this episode is for you. In this conversation on A Millennial Mind, I sit down with renowned astrologer Debbie Frank to explore why manifestation often feels blocked, and how understanding timing, alignment, and your own inner patterns can change everything. We talk about divine timing, free will vs fate, and why forcing outcomes can actually create more resistance. Debbie explains how astrology isn't about prediction, but self-awareness — helping you understand when to push forward, when to pause, and how to work with your natural rhythms instead of against them. This episode is a grounding, practical reframe of manifestation that feels calm, empowering, and deeply reassuring.
As a high-achieving and self-led woman, it's time to stop using your nervous system, your to-do list, or your calendar as an excuse for why you're not living the life you say you want. In this quick and powerful episode, Monica calls out the real reason high-achieving women don't say yes to their next level—and how HER Year isn't “another program,” but the space where you build the internal and external structure to sustain your next level, not just manifest it. Inside the episode:
Success isn’t just about talent or intelligence – it’s about how we handle our emotions. Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, says emotional regulation is a skill, one that can be taught and practiced like any other. This hour, he joins us to talk about why our feelings matter, what happens when we ignore them, and how adults can get better at managing them. There's something about a new year that invites us to pause, reflect, and ask what kind of people we actually want to become. Welcome to the very first episode of The Energy Is Everything Series — a six-part conversation series all about protecting your energy, expanding your capacity, and building a life and business that actually feel sustainable in your body.In this opening episode, I'm joined by the brilliant and wildly honest Heather Chauvin for a raw, grounded conversation about identity fatigue, impossible standards, and the invisible ways women are bleeding energy in the name of success, motherhood, and safety. This is not a “do more, try harder” conversation. It's about reverse engineering the life you want by starting with how you want to feel, and letting that guide your choices, boundaries, and identity… even when it disrupts everything you've been taught.TOPICS & TANGENTS: • Why energy is the real currency behind success • Reverse engineering your life from how you want to feel • Identity fatigue and the cost of impossible standards • Survival mode vs. aliveness • How women enable their own exhaustion to stay safe • The hidden energy leaks in motherhood and ambition • Co-regulation, support, and learning how to be held • Why balance is a myth rooted in perfectionism • Emotional repair as a daily practice • Letting go of performative strength • Choosing embodiment over hustle • Reclaiming feminine power without bypassing realityPOINT OF THE STORY: You don't need to become someone new to create the life you want… you need to stop abandoning yourself to maintain an identity that's draining you. When you reverse engineer your choices from how you want to feel, your energy returns, your boundaries clarify, and your life begins to align without force.MENTIONED:Dying to Be a Good Mother- BookFollow Heather ChauvinInstagramEmotionally Uncomfortable PodcastThis episode sets the tone for the entire Energy Is Everything Series. We talk about this all the time on the Ultimate Intimacy podcast — emotional intimacy and sexual intimacy go hand in hand. You can't expect a strong sex life if you're not emotionally connected first. For most people, especially many women desire doesn't start in the bedroom. It starts with feeling heard, valued, and emotionally safe. If that connection is missing, sexual intimacy often disappears right along with it.That's why when couples say, “Our intimacy isn't where we want it to be,” we usually ask them how the emotional connection is, and most the time it isn't connected either. When you focus on listening, showing appreciation, spending intentional time together, and connecting without pressure, walls come down and desire naturally begins to return. And here's the exciting part... when emotional intimacy improves, sexual intimacy often comes back stronger than ever. Couples become more open, playful, and connected, and intimacy turns into something you both look forward to again. So if you want a better intimate life, don't skip the foundation.Build emotional closeness first, and watch every part of your marriage thrive. If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. Morning Mantra: "Decide what kind of life you want, then say No to anything that isn't that."You know what you want. You know how you want to live, who you want to be, how your life should feel. Today, I'm speaking with Ayelet Polonsky, a Kabbalistic Manifestation Expert. She is the Creator of The Manifestation Method and a skilled, passionate and trauma-informed facilitator in the world of manifestation and healing. She's had quite a journey to get to this point in her life — after college she was led to the Amazon jungles of Peru, then India for six years and then finally to Israel where she spent eight years studying and teaching Jewish mysticism, known as Kabbalah. Ayelet now lives on the East Coast with her husband and two children. With the development of The Manifestation Method, Ayelet synthesizes Kabbalistic wisdom and modern psychology to help individuals heal their past traumas, and transform their dreams into reality. She is a trained expert in hypnosis, trauma healing, somatic experiencing and meditation. Ayelet's approach is a harmonious blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, EFT, and Somatic Experiencing, all combined with her signature hypno-visualization techniques. Manifestation is something I've been interested in for awhile and have been wanting to explore through a Jewish lens. I've learned a little bit about it in secular spaces and in this conversation with Ayelet, we really get to the root of what Jewish manifestation actually looks like. We speak about:-Ayelet's journey to getting to where she is today doing this work-How Jewish manifestation differs from the secular interpretation and some myths about it she's correcting-Why manifestation is a lifestyle — not just a singular practice and what that looks like-Her methodology and the specific goals she helps clients achieve-The power of our words and the way our conscious and subconscious brain works to create a new reality-What true faith and bitachon really feels like-How our trauma (whether it's with a big t or small t) informs the inner work we do today and what that trauma can be used for-Creating the vessel for the things we want in our lives to actually happen-The power of rituals-Seeing miracles in our everyday lives and how to manifest more of them-The unbelievable power we can all take from the Chanukah lights and bring into our everyday lives-How she manifested her husband…and SO MUCH MORE.Ayelet just takes my questions and brings them to a whole new level with her responses. She both elevates them and takes them deeper in a way that will change how you see the world, your relationship with Hashem and how you deal with the struggles in your life.To get in touch with Ayelet, visit ayeletpolonsky.com. Travel is never just about the destination — it's about what the journey makes possible. In today's episode, we explore how learning to earn and use credit card points isn't just a smart financial decision. It's a pathway to freedom, abundance, and experiences that reflect the life you actually want to live. From upgraded flights to dream hotels, points can turn everyday expenses into extraordinary opportunities. No one embodies that transformation quite like Dielle Charon. A former social worker turned seven-figure business coach for women of color entrepreneurs, Dielle has used points not only to change the way she travels, but to expand what she believes she deserves. In this conversation, we explore Dielle's shift from a scarcity mindset around money and travel to one grounded in abundance. We talk about the emotional impact of flying business class for the first time, how points became a tool for self-care, celebration, and access, and why choosing ease and luxury can be deeply supportive — not frivolous. Whether you run a business or simply want to travel with more intention and possibility, this episode offers a powerful look at what becomes available when you allow points to elevate more than just your travel plans. This conversation is rich with honesty, strategy, and inspiration — and it's about so much more than travel. It's about possibility, mindset, and unapologetically claiming ease, luxury, and joy.
