In 1996, Det. John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) is sent to a cryo-prison because he has awesomely brought in maniac Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), and he is just too rad for modern society. In 2032, this “Demolition Man” is reinstated, and this upgraded killer is let loose on the wimps of the future. Lt. Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) is smitten with this chaotic crime spree (and Murder Death Kills) and learning from Spartan's action-forward ways. Seems there has been little crime since the earthquake of 2010. Edgar Friendly (Denis Leary) and his underground gang want in on some Taco Bell. TB did win the Franchise Wars, so they are quite popular! RTS will be hanging underground but not eating rat burgers! La-Mar and Jeremy are naturals at the three seashells but are not fans of the lack of salt and alcohol. Let's all look at this future where VR sex is awful, but the streets are clean. The music is amazing, but the food lacks everything! Seems like a real boggle!

It's Die Hard in a future shock satire! For this week's episode, Phil and Liam are joined by special guest Nick De Semlyen, editor of Empire magazine and author of the excellent book THE LAST ACTION HEROES. Together they unfreeze DEMOLITION MAN – a deceptively sophisticated sci-fi movie that explores, deconstructs and satirizes action movie archetypes. In a dystopian LA, renegade cop John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) apprehends his psychotic arch nemesis Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) during a chaotic assault, but Spartan is wrongly blamed for a large number of civilian deaths, and both men are placed in a new cryogenic-penitentiary. When they are awakened 36 years later, Spartan and Phoenix find themselves in a peaceful and seemingly utopian future society, where they quickly resume their violent feud…exposing the sinister truth about this brave new world in the process.  Stallone is one of the central figures in Nick's book, and together the guys analyze the disparity between Sly's screen persona and who he is in real life – something that Nick can speak to from personal experience. Nick also discusses the insights gained when he interviewed the film's director, the mercurial Marco Brambilla, a wildly talented artist who seems to have an interest in exploring weighty philosophical themes, and there's some beefy discussions about the rest of the film's eclectic cast, that includes Wesley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, Nigel Hawthorne, Denis Leary and Jack Black, who appears briefly as ‘Wasteland Scrap #2'!  The boys grab a quick Taco Bell before heading over to ‘Die Hard Oscars' in their futuristic tuxedos, and Liam and Nick collaborate to great effect in the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz! So alleviate your boggles, enhance your calm and listen now!   DEMOLITION MAN trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B5v6QZ5R3g (“That looks like a good movie…”) At the time of release, DEMOLITION MAN is streaming on Max and is available to rent or buy through Amazon Prime Video, Apple/iTunes, YouTube, Vudu, DirectTV and all the usual platforms. In 1996 Los Angeles, psychopathic criminal Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) has taken 30 hostages inside an abandoned building and it is up to police sergeant John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) to save the day. But before Spartan can get his man, Phoenix detonates the building, presumably killing the hostages. Phoenix is captured, but at the same time, Spartan is charged with manslaughter. Both are sentenced to an experimental new form of rehabilitation: cryogenically frozen while being exposed to subliminal messages. Decades later, with help from an unknown source, Phoenix is unthawed, breaks out of prison, and begins to run amok. The newly formed city, now known as San Angeles, is strikingly different and is a society in which pacifism and docility is strictly enforced, so much so that the police now have zero experience with violent criminals. The San Angeles police chief approves the unthawing of John Spartan with the orders to stop Phoenix once and for all. Demolition Man isn't a great, or even good movie, but the script contains some eliminates of thought with its social commentary. Snipes' outlandishly played Phoenix character is a scene stealer. The film isn't all kicks and punches, though, as its witty one-liners have its tongue planted firmly in its cheek. Release Year: 1993Genre: ActionStarring: Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, and Sandra Bullock.TrailerSummary: A police officer is brought out of suspended animation in prison to pursue an old ultra-violent nemesis who is loose in a non-violent future society. Hello! Welcome to the ninth episode of Pints, Camera... Action!   It's the end of round 2 and back to Mark for his second pick, we stick in 1993 for the endless action movie Demolition Man.  A directorial debut to remember for Marco Brambilla sees Hollywood megastar Sylvester Stallone become Los Angeles cop John Spartan, AKA the Demolition Man.  Spartan is controversially cryogenically frozen because of his over ambitious efforts to bring criminal mastermind Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) to justice.  Phoenix escapes from the Cryo-Prison in the distant future and wreaks havok meaning only one man can save the day.  Assisted by the frustrated and nostalgic cop Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock), Spartan discovers that in the future not everything is as perfect as it first seems. Away from the action the boys discuss the usual plethora of hidden gems from the dark recesses of the cutting room floor. Get the beers in folks, it's time for Pints, Camera... Action!

Pappy pays the price for coming in last in the 50th episode Christmas Eve Eve Trivia Extravaganza by spoiling Demolition Man with Mikey and Stevie. The plot of this action film begins in 1996, with Los Angeles in a violence-crazed conflagration. One of the LAPD's most notorious cops, John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone), known as the demolition man, is in hot pursuit of blonde-haired psychopath Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), who is so nasty he even kills sometimes just because he feels cranky. John captures Simon, but not before Simon kills innocent hostages. John is blamed for the deaths of the hostages, and both he and Simon are cryogenically frozen to remove their brand of ultra-violence from a society that is simply just too violent. The film shifts to the future world of 2032, where Los Angeles has become a megalopolis called San Angeles. There is no poverty, Arnold Schwarzenegger was (at one time) president of the United States, and Taco Bell is the sole survivor of the Franchise Wars. Into this peaceful and bland society, Simon is summarily defrosted by reigning benevolent dictator Dr. Cocteau (Nigel Hawthorne) to have Simon murder Edgar Friendly (Denis Leary), the leader of a group of underground rebels. But Cocteau bites off more than he can chew when the melted-down Simon proceeds to go on a murder-and-looting spree. Reluctantly, Cocteau defrosts John to hunt down his old adversary. As John adjusts to self-driving cars and having sex wearing helmets, he pairs up with Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock), a bored cop with a nostalgic fascination for 20th-century culture.~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide Release date: October 8, 1993 (USA) Director: Marco Brambilla Budget: 57 million USD Box office: 159.1 million USD Screenplay: Peter M.
