LIVE from Vancouver, Paul, June, & Jason discuss all the montages set to rap rock, Burt Reynolds' desire to sit down, the deadly Chicago street race, Gina Gershon's fashion arc, a 55-year-old Stallone playing a 37-year-old, the daycare right next to the racetrack, and so much more. Sylvester Stallone's been in the ring for a lot of rounds. Even though he, a few years ago, hit the big 6-0 birthday, he was still doing Rocky - Rocky 6. It was called, "Rocky's final round." Sylvester Stallone is one of the millions of Baby Boomers who have hit a challenge for which some have not been prepared - aging. I was intrigued with what Stallone had to say about people he knows. He said, "You see billionaires who have everything, yet inside they're still the same lonely, insecure people." You think you've got it all figured out, but when you turn 60 or, you know, whatever age seems to make you feel like you're getting older, there's this little hole inside you. You realize you're always going to be somewhat half full...or are we. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Why We Can't Find Peace." I call the cycle so many of us go through in our life journey the "As Soon As" syndrome. I'll be happy, I'll be fulfilled as soon as I graduate, as soon as I get a good job, as soon as I get a better job, as soon as I'm going with someone, as soon as I'm married, as soon as I have kids, as soon as I'm not married, as soon as I can get a home, as soon as I retire; it just never ends. And "as soon as" never comes. It's one disappointing answer after another. Until, like Rocky's creator says, we just give up and accept "this little hole inside" us as being "unfillable." The ancient Jewish king Solomon knew that feeling. He was so wealthy and so powerful he was able to own or experience every "as soon as" that his heart could conceive: every purchase, every woman, every achievement, every pleasure. Here's his conclusion, recorded in his personal diary, the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. I'm reading from chapter 1, beginning with verse 8, our word for today from the Word of God. He says: "The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again. There is nothing new under the sun. I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Pretty sad, huh? And pretty much the human experience. But Solomon went on to diagnose why nothing and no one on earth can ever fill the hole in our heart. He said, "God has set eternity in the hearts of men. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth. Fear God and keep His commandments" (Ecclesiastes 3:11; 12:1, 13). What we've been looking for all our life is something that will last forever, because we've got this eternity thing in our heart. The hole in your heart can only be filled by something as big as all eternity. And that means only the God who made you can fill it. Not a religion about God, but God Himself, living in your heart. And that's impossible because of the choice we've made over and over again to do our life our way instead of God's way. God calls it sin and He says that our sins "have separated us" from our God. But He's also acted with unspeakable love to demolish this wall that keeps us from Him. And He says in His own words, "He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" (1 John 4:10). Translation: I did the sinning; Jesus did the dying. Then three days later, He came back from His grave to prove that He and He alone can give us life that's eternal. For millions, the search for what goes in that hole in our heart has ended at the cross of Jesus Christ. In a transforming moment when you say to Him, "Jesus, the wrong person's been running my life. I resign. I'm holding onto You as my only hope because only You can remove the wall between me and my God. So, Jesus, I'm Yours." If you've never had that liberating, load-lifting, purpose-filling, hole-in-your-heart-filling experience with Jesus, let this be the day. In fact, if you go to our website you can find there a lot of wonderful information to be sure you belong to Him. It's ANewStory.com That hole inside you is so big only God can fill it. And at your invitation, He will - today.

This week on Born to Watch, the boys dive sunglasses-first into their Cobra (1986) Review, Sylvester Stallone's 80s fever dream of fascist fashion, cult chaos, and cheeseball one-liners. In a time when Sly was king of the box office, rocking Rambo and Rocky, he went rogue and gave us… Marion Cobretti. Part cop, part Terminator, all denim.Whitey, G-Man, and Morgz try to unpack this absurd Dirty Harry knockoff that's equal parts vanity project and testosterone overdose. From the opening monologue's completely made-up crime stats to the gratuitous axe-wielding cult, nothing about Cobra makes sense, and that's half the fun.But it's not all bullets and bravado. The team takes a hard look at Stallone's creative control (spoiler: he shouldn't have had any), the film's bizarre product placement (Pepsi, anyone?), and a montage that includes Brigitte Nielsen posing with robots to a Robert Tepper deep cut. Seriously.Gow marvels at the buckle boots and slasher absurdities, Dan questions why Cobra opens a warm beer just to throw it, and Whitey can't believe this was supposed to be the start of a franchise. There's praise for the poster, grief for the editing, and unfiltered confusion about the serial killer cult that clinks axes in an abandoned pool. Also in this episode:An explosive “Good, Bad, and Ugly” segment where “ugly” takes on new meaningA wild tangent into Canadian trailer parks and Gow's legendary exploits as the “Ten Slayer”A bonus voicemail from our mate XR8 Chupperz, who wants answers about Canadian bar fights and Gow's taste in trailer park womenAs the crew reflects on Cobra's place in 1986 cinema, surrounded by giants like Top Gun, Aliens, and Platoon, they ask the big questions: Could this have been good with a different cut? Did anyone actually direct this thing? And is “You're a disease, and I'm the cure” the greatest dumb action line ever written?Spoiler alert: Cobra ends with 41 confirmed kills. Stallone doesn't just clean up crime; he clears the census. So if you love muscle-bound madness, slashers in stocking masks, or just want to laugh at a movie that takes itself way too seriously, this episode is for you.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Cobra a misunderstood action gem or just a flaming dumpster fire of denim and ego?Would you ride shotgun with Cobretti or run from his gun with the custom Cobra logo? We can get one thing out of the way right up top: James DeMonaco is from Staten Island. Seeing Rocky Balboa on the big screen as a kid was mind-blowing; seeing Sylvester Stallone take a story of such a familiar kind of guy and make it into an Oscar-winning mega-franchise for the ages was life-altering. While DeMonaco is best known for his stealthily political horror films, his love of Rocky even made it into a coming-of-age project called THIS IS THE NIGHT, set around the release of ROCKY III. He and Jordan get into the importance of seeing a familiar milieu on screen, and get into the motivation behind DeMonaco's current film, THE HOME, a psychological horror movie starring Pete Davidson, set at an eldercare facility. Then, Jordan has one quick thing about the new Netflix series HUNTING WIVES. Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? Keep up with the show on Instagram and Bluesky.

Tune in here to this Thursday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by addressing the troubling state of the Sun Fresh grocery store at 31st and Prospect, where shelves and coolers sit nearly empty, raising concerns about food access in the community. He points out that the store is operated by a nonprofit and located in a city-owned shopping center, questioning the effectiveness of the arrangement. The discussion then pivots to national politics, as Brett criticizes ongoing dysfunction in Washington, D.C., and revisits the Tea Party era — contrasting its grassroots activism with what he sees as a current lack of political courage and leadership. It's the head to head nobody was asking for in 2025. Once again our cultural timing is spot on. This week the boys revisit Antz and A Bug's Life to see which truly is the quintessential CGI-bug movie of the late 90s.Antz is a 1998 American animated adventure comedy film directed by Eric Darnell and Tim Johnson from a screenplay written by Todd Alcott and the writing team of Chris and Paul Weitz. Produced by DreamWorks Pictures, the film stars the voices of Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone, Christopher Walken, Dan Aykroyd, Anne Bancroft, Danny Glover and Gene Hackman.A Bug's Life (stylized in all lowercase) is a 1998 American animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is Pixar's second feature-length film, following Toy Story (1995). The film was directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Andrew Stanton, from a screenplay written by Stanton. It stars the voices of Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Hayden Panettiere.
Rahm Emanuel is giving every indication that he's running for president in 2028—including by coming on Honestly yesterday. Emanuel, now 65 years old, has spent decades making a name for himself as one of the Democratic Party's fiercest and most effective partisans—a true knife fighter, and you'll see that spiciness in this interview. But can the dealmaker, the guy so adept at pulling the levers of power behind the scenes, really become the front man? And as the party continues to pull leftward, is there really room for an old-school moderate liberal like Rahm to be the standard-bearer? And lastly, but perhaps most importantly, does he have the bedside manner to be president? Or will people love his blunt nature and find it refreshing? He certainly has a résumé to run on. While still in his early 30s, he became a key adviser to Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign, and before he was 40, his career was already the stuff of legend, thanks to stunts like sending a dead fish to a Democratic pollster who had upset him. And after Clinton won the White House in 1992, when staffers met around a picnic table to celebrate their accomplishments, Rahm instead picked up a knife and began listing Democrats he felt were insufficiently supportive of the campaign. “Dead man!” he yelled after each name, jabbing the knife into the table. His nickname—“Rahm-bo,” after Sylvester Stallone's fearsome commando—became so pervasive that even his mom started calling him that. Meanwhile, in Hollywood, Rahm became the inspiration for a leading character on The West Wing, Josh Lyman. He spent five years as a top White House aide following Clinton's victory. Rahm then returned to his native Illinois and was elected to Congress in 2002. In 2006, he was the mastermind of the Democratic Party's wildly successful effort to retake the House of Representatives, making Nancy Pelosi speaker. In 2008, Barack Obama made Rahm his first White House chief of staff. He guided the new president through his tumultuous first two years in office, a period when Obama signed Dodd-Frank, a massive stimulus package, and the Affordable Care Act, into law. Then, in 2011, Rahm was elected to the first of his two terms as Chicago's mayor. And when Joe Biden won the White House, he made Rahm his ambassador to Japan, giving the maybe–presidential contender direct foreign policy experience in what some would argue is America's most important ally. Now the question is whether a man who ran Chicago and served every living Democratic president is too conservative for Democrats. Today on Honestly, Bari asks Rahm how moderates on the left and the right can get elected, about free trade, China, Israel, Iran, Trump, Biden, Obama, Zohran Mamdani, and the American dream—and what his party needs to do to win back Congress in the midterms next year, and the White House in 2028. And more deeply, if the Democrats can ever win a national election again after losing the trust of the American people. It's a fascinating conversation with one of the most unique, knowledgeable, and—dare we say—zesty figures in politics today. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Physical media offers a lot of pleasures this week. Do Erik Childress and Peter Sobczynski feel guilty about any of them? Certainly not of Jack Nicholson's collaboration with Mike Nichols or one of their “Why Is This Not On Blu-ray” titles getting the 4K treatment. There's a little history of the nudie plus Bertolucci does a family film. An MST3K selection may not be worth all the skewering though neither was Joe Dante's snakebit summer effort from 1998. All that plus Larry Cohen's grossly satirical take on consumerism and what Beverly Hills Cop might have been like if it starred Sylvester Stallone.3:22 - Criterion (Carnal Knowledge (4K), You Can Count On Me (4K), All We Imagine as Light)21:44 - Shout! Taika Waititi is officially directing a new Judge Dredd movie, with Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) writing the script. Both are longtime fans of the Dredd comics and are promising a return to the dark satire and heavy worldbuilding of the original 2000 AD stories. In this video, I break down everything we know about the project, including the team's goal to distance it from the 1995 and 2012 versions, their hopes for a Dredd universe, and whether Taika's style can actually work for something this gritty. I also share my own thoughts—because let's be honest, the Stallone and Urban movies still have their charm.Drop your thoughts in the comments: Are you excited for this version? Or worried it'll be too goofy for Mega-City One?

We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence! In a world where one man has only seen 30 or so movies comes a desire to learn from a master. A master of film. A master of cinema. A master who has led such a sad life. Logan seeks the knowledge and he turns to his own personal “Yoda”; Keithie. Join Logan & Keithie on a wild adventure to discover as we watch along with a new movie each episode in THE MOVIE EDUCATION OF LOGAN CROSLAND. This episode, Logan & Keithie (with a mid-movie tag in from everyone's favorite 9021-NoSo Host Tim Capel) take on Matt Souzapalooza's pick Demolition Man. Sylvester Stallone & Wesley Snipes are constantly fined "1 Credit" in this action-packed thrill ride. Can Sandra Bullock control this much testosterone? Will Dennis Leary entertain and inform? Can Nigel Hawthorne or Bob Gunton enjoy their peace and quiet? Highly unlikely to all these questions. And of course we talk about the three seashells. Bad language, chocolate, gasoline, uneducational toys and anything spicy. Abortion is also illegal, but then again so is pregnancy if you don't have a licence.
Cooper and Nolan are fighting the future this week when they thaw out DEMOLITION MAN for a very special season finale! Nobody expected this Sylvester Stallone sci-fi classic to paint a remotely realistic view of the future when it came out in 1993, but watching it again for the first time in almost 20 years you'd be shocked to find how accurate some of the screenwriters' predictions were. No wonder the guys ended up waxing philosophically on libertarianism, modern media consumption, and incels - all while looking back on five years of movies and memories (and yes, d*** jokes). It's the perfect mix of serious topics and silliness that people have come to expect from this podcast, so chill out and enjoy it; this episode (featuring a beer or three from the Hop Valley Brewing Company) will have you asking the question: is it cold in here, or is it just me?

Ali has twice been a past guest on the show, and those conversations are replayed in the feed. Our conversation begins with Michael's formative influences from his upbringing, early lessons that shaped his relentless drive, and origins of CAA. We cover his fascination with creativity, CAA's culture of empowerment, honesty, and momentum, and frameworks for building businesses, assessing talent, focusing on relationships, and learning from new industries. We then turn to Michael's recent work with Ali at Treville. We discuss the beginning of their partnership, the process of scaling, the building of momentum, and the systems that foster accountability, relentless follow-up, and refreshing of relationships. Michael closes with candid reflections on his mistakes and life lessons that continue to shape his remarkable path.
