We are the Reel Feel Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle. We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustration to curse the heavens. Lots is to be had, reviews, input, film bashing, history, trivia and lots more. But what you can co…
The Reel Feels Podcast is a delightful and entertaining podcast that combines movie discussion with humor and personal anecdotes. The hosts, Drew, Nathan, and Jack, have a great dynamic and their banter adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the show. I appreciate how they take films that I am familiar with but may not necessarily enjoy or have nostalgia for, and still manage to make the conversation about them fun and engaging. The random selection of genres and grab bag style of film choices ensures that each episode brings something unexpected, making it an interesting listening experience every week.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the hosts' ability to distill down the fun and absurdity of what's happening on screen and tie it into their own stories and lives. They have a knack for finding the humor in even the most serious or dramatic films. Their lighthearted approach creates a relaxed atmosphere that feels like you're sitting at a table with friends discussing movies. I also appreciate that they cover a wide range of movies, from popular classics like Indiana Jones to lesser-known gems like Monty Python's Meaning of Life.
However, there are some aspects of the podcast that could be improved. While I enjoy the hosts' humor and banter, at times it can feel like they go off on tangents for too long, detracting from the main discussion about the film. Additionally, there are moments when it would be helpful to have more structured analysis or deeper insights into the movies being discussed.
In conclusion, The Reel Feels Podcast is a highly enjoyable podcast for anyone who loves movies. The hosts bring enthusiasm, humor, and personal anecdotes to their discussions, making each episode entertaining and engaging. While there are some areas that could be improved upon in terms of structure and analysis, overall it's a fun listen that will leave you laughing and feeling fulfilled.

In 1892, legendary Army Capt. Joseph Blocker reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to their tribal land. Embarking on a harrowing and perilous journey from Fort Berringer, N.M., to the grasslands of Montana, they soon encounter a young widow whose family was killed on the plains. The travelers must now band together to survive a punishing landscape that's crawling with hostile Comanches and vicious outliers. Host Nathan has brought to us an underrated and intense film for our his #Wilderness genre choice! We're here with a stellar cast and we get ALL the emotions, gunfights, and probably the best performance by a mumbling mustache we've ever seen! This film gives some devastating action and death scenes, along with some stellar cinematography. Join us for discussing 2017's "Hostiles"! Mark (Elijah Wood), a young boy who loses his mother, must stay with his extended family while his father is away on business. Mark becomes acquainted with his cousin Henry (Macaulay Culkin). However, the extent of Henry's depravity becomes clear when Mark sees him kill a neighbor's dog and intentionally create a traffic pileup on the highway. After a supposed mishap on an icy pond with Henry's sister Connie (Quinn Culkin), Mark tries to reveal Henry's crimes before it's too late. Host Drew has picked a very notable choice for killer kids movies from the 90's that created some shock for the world with popular child actor Macaulay Culkin! Now we have a sociopathic child, bent on getting all others out of his way and engaging in his twisted satisfactions in... "The Good Son"! This movie has some ups and downs, but you can't deny the creep factor that Culkin brings to the screen. Join us for this discussion and some fun trivia and a look into our own childhood as well! It's Christmas 1183, and King Henry II (Peter O'Toole) is planning to announce his successor to the throne. The jockeying for the crown, though, is complex. Henry has three sons and wants his boy Prince John (Nigel Terry) to take over. Henry's wife, Queen Eleanor (Katharine Hepburn), has other ideas. She believes their son Prince Richard (Anthony Hopkins) should be king. As the family and various schemers gather for the holiday, each tries to make the indecisive king choose their option. Ever thought about locking your wife up in prison? Or having your children compete for your love and rule of the land? How about having your mistress marry one of your sons just so you can have her within reach? Well then you might be watching "The Lion in Winter" (1968)! This fabulous adaptation was a great pick by host Jack, and we all loved it. From the costuming, the casting, on-site film locations... this academy award winning film has it all. Fast-paced farce about an unlikely pair who go to extreme lengths to have a child. When an incompetent robber marries a policewoman, they discover that they are infertile. In order to appease his wife's longings for a child, the man steals one of a set of quintuplets, but mayhem ensues when the child's rich father sends a rabbit-shooting bounty hunter after the kidnapper. Jack has given us one of his childhood favorites that he watched repeatedly growing up. This was a first time watch for Drew and Nathan. This movie is deemed to possibly be one of, if not the BEST Coen Brothers movie. Cage and Hunter bring a great amount of comedy and this movie is just a great set of oddball comedy and high antics. Join us for some time with Nathan Jr. and some family time. We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) takes his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in combat. Surrounded by the brutal realties of war, while searching for Ryan, each man embarks upon a personal journey and discovers their own strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honor, decency and courage. Today is a special episode that is dedicated to host Drew's dad. This would have been his pick for a movie, but unfortunately he passed away before this episode came out. The boys discuss the soldiers, the war, the movie history and the staple that this film is for standing as strong as it has since 1998. So join us wont you? The story of a recuperating news photographer who believes he has witnessed a murder. Confined to a wheelchair after an accident, he spends his time watching the occupants of neighbouring apartments through a telephoto lens and binoculars and becomes convinced that a murder has taken place. Who can resist Jimmy Stewart? Plus, we all know everyone is loving Grace Kelly to this day! It's our "Suspense" genre episode with host Drew's favorite Hitchcock film "Rear Window"! The boys discuss the production history, the characterization and development of Stewart as the film progresses and of course the elements of suspense as the movie moves along. So join us for this classic and iconic film! Grab your camera, scratch that itchy spot inside your cast and be sure to pay attention to your loving girlfriend who obviously could do better. Mike (Chris Farley), a slovenly gym teacher, has a terrible habit of showing up at the wrong time and embarrassing his brother, Al (Tim Matheson), who happens to be running for governor. Hoping to save his campaign, Al assigns his aide, Steve (David Spade), to take Mike to a remote cabin and hide out there for the remainder of the campaign. In the woods, the two men discover dangers that make them long for the sleazy political operatives back in the big city. It's a blast from the past as we delve into the mid-90's for some Chris Farley humor! The guys discuss the background of Farley, the film production, character development and jokes that still hold their own. Nathan picked something that nostalgia couldn't contain for our Political Comedy episode and we were happy he did. Boss Spearman (Robert Duvall) and his cowhands Charley (Kevin Costner) and Mose (Abraham Benrubi) are driving cattle across a large expanse of country. When Mose ventures into a sparse village to buy a few necessities, he is met with violent hostility from Denton Baxter (Michael Gambon), an affluent landowner, and his right-hand man, Poole (James Russo). When Mose doesn't come back, Boss and Charley realize he's in trouble, so they plot to get him back and get revenge on those who captured him. We've got cattle, we've got a great cast, hell we even have a shootout that can rival Tombstone itself! Jack made a good call when choosing "Open Range" (2003) and we have a great time talking the actors, trivia for behind the scenes, and just love for a simple and solid story being told. So why don't you heat up some coffee, find the cattle and make sure that the local law-men are knocked out. Yeehaw! Burt Gummer suspects that giant worms are being utilized as weapons at a research facility in Canada. He soon finds himself in a race against time to create an antidote from one of the creature's venom to save his own life. It's another year and another Tremors movie! We're kicking off Season 6: Fist Full of Feels with 2018's Tremors 6: A Cold Day in Hell! This is definitely a different Tremors film, but thankfully... there's Michael Gross. The boys discuss the crazy antics, the haphazard plot points and just all the nonsensical happenings throughout this movie. The homages to previous films is a good nod, Michael Gross as Burt is always a joy, but man oh man... this is something. Join us wont you! The Mummy is a rousing, suspenseful and horrifying epic about an expedition of treasure-seeking explorers in the Sahara Desert in 1925. Stumbling upon an ancient tomb, the hunters unwittingly set loose a 3,000-year-old legacy of terror, which is embodied in the vengeful reincarnation of an Egyptian priest who had been sentenced to an eternity as one of the living dead. It's The Mummy!!!!!!! Yes, everyone should've guessed this was coming! It's one of the better remakes and Egyptian/Mummy genre films out there! We discuss the impact that this film has had, our LOVE for Brendan Fraser and just all the feels for this action adventure comedy! What a cast! The costuming! Parts actually being culturually and historically accurate! Come on, how can you not love this film? Strap on in, race that camel and let's go battle an ancient mummy who's really just looking for love. Westworld is a futuristic theme park where paying guests can pretend to be gunslingers in an artificial Wild West populated by androids. After paying a sizable entrance fee, Blane (James Brolin) and Martin (Richard Benjamin) are determined to unwind by hitting the saloons and shooting off their guns. But when the system goes haywire and Blane is killed in a duel with a robotic gunslinger (Yul Brynner), Martin's escapist fantasy suddenly takes on a grim reality. Nathan has chosen a staple in the Science Fiction genre and we couldn't be more pleased. What world would you go to? We discuss the worlds, the interactions of the people and the machines, the craziness of the freedom from rules and the consequences for it. What happened during the recording? How about the actors? In the wake of the delay for Ep. 129 "Westworld", Jack and Drew have banded together to catch up on what they've been doing lately. Nathan is still MIA at this moment but will return to us to discuss his "Science Fiction" movie of choice soon! We've got WW2 movies, The Last of Us, Drew's many Movie Scavenger Hunt finds, and we also learn what it takes to breed magical creatures in Hogwarts Legacy with Jack. Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) and John (Owen Wilson) are divorce mediators who spend their free time crashing wedding receptions. For the irrepressible duo, there are few better ways to drink for free and bed vulnerable women. So when Secretary of the Treasury William Cleary (Christopher Walken) announces the wedding of his daughter, the pair make it their mission to crash the high-profile event. But their game hits a bump in the road when John locks eyes with bridesmaid Claire (Rachel McAdams). To say that this week has been hectic is a complete understatement. From people getting sick and family members being in the emergency room... a recording wasn't in the books. So what we're gonna give you folks is something special. This was a grand recording that host Nathan and Drew put together before host Jack went off and got hitched and gave it to our Patreon members. In the 14th century, the harmony that humans, animals and gods have enjoyed begins to crumble. The protagonist, young Ashitaka - infected by an animal attack, seeks a cure from the deer-like god Shishigami. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, bringing down the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. Hiskattempts to broker peace between her and the humans brings only conflict. There are very few definitive movies that encompass the field of anime that set standards - Miyazaki's "Princess Mononoke" is for sure one of them. Jack has chosen a stellar film for the boys to discuss today. The voice casting is on point, the action, the story, moral lessons and connection to Japanese mythology is all through the roof. Join us for a deep dive into this brilliant film from 1997 and be sure to pay tribute to the Spirit of the Forest. The young Empress Savina (Thora Birch) desires to use magic for good, but the evil Profion (Jeremy Irons) plans to utilize his powers to usurp the throne from Savina and subject the kingdom to totalitarian rule. Profion gains control of the kingdom's golden dragons, while Savina sets out to win control of the even more powerful red dragons, gaining the alliance of a motley group of individuals along the way. We're heading back to the year 2000 for some of the hammiest and scene chewing acting we can throw a dice at! It's time for Dungeons & Dragons folks! Drew has chosen a childhood favorite of his for our "Magic & Sorcery" genre. The acting, the script, and the casting... it's not great. However, the nostalgia and the fun quirkiness of the movie overall still hold a true to today. We laugh at the insane antics of the characters, a dwarf who screams, magic spells that could've been better and much more! So pour yourself a Mountain Dew, grab some snacks and lets roll! We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle. We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. On New Year's Day 1900, Danny (Bill Nunn), a crew member on an ocean liner, finds a deserted infant and decides to adopt him, nicknaming him "1900." As an adult, the eccentric 1900 (Tim Roth) grows into a remarkable musician aboard the boat. Rumors of his brilliant piano playing eventually reach the shore, and his pal Max (Pruitt Taylor Vince) believes that success surely awaits 1900 on land. The only problem, however, is that the enigmatic pianist is loath to embrace life away from the ship. Jack and Drew FINALLY get to reviewing the long awaited Patreon movie choice of 1998's "Legend of the 1900". This film has stunning music, an intriguing story and some pretty solid acting. Tim Roth, playing "1900", gives a very personal performance and engages us in his story. While Pruitt Taylor Vince takes us along as the narrator, making us feel both at home and leading us to a heartfelt ending. The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness. Can we ask for a more perfect match for our #Puppetry genre AND to have this episode debut in December? I think not! Nathan brings all of us a fan favorite and a holiday staple for everyone with The Muppet Christmas Carol! We laugh at the quotable lines, Michael Caines stellar performance and of course the timeless songs. So join us wont you? Put more coal on the fire, make sure the prized turkey is roasted and get yourself one more sleep till Christmas! Tasked with overhauling a university football team that was dismantled for breaking collegiate rules, coaches Wally Riggendorf (Robert Loggia) and Ed Gennero (Héctor Elizondo) pick unusual new players like junior professor Andre Krimm (Sinbad) and 30-something quarterback Paul Blake (Scott Bakula). As Paul courts professor Suzanne Carter (Harley Jane Kozak), the team struggles until the arrival of a female placekicker, who bolsters the squad as it gets ready to challenge its big rival. Jack pulls a Hail Mary from his childhood and brings us a favorite nostalgia film with his choice of "Necessary Roughness" (1991) for our #Football genre. Discussing the cast consisting of Hector Elizondo, Robert Loggia, Scott Bakula and Ms. Ireland we continue to gush. The film has heart and the feels to back it up, while still following the formulaic style of the typical football film. It's an underdog story that we can all get behind. The Cabin in the Woods is a 2011 American horror comedy film directed by Drew Goddard in his directorial debut, produced by Joss Whedon, and written by Whedon and Goddard. It stars Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, and Bradley Whitford. If you're a fan of horror, then THIS is the movie for you! This film is incredibly poignant with the social commentary on the genre as a whole and everyone here loves it. From the art direction, character choices and easter eggs galore... nothing better can encompass the #horror genre in its entirety. So join us in discussing the different tropes, references to other films and just laughing at the little antics of the film. Nebraska is a 2013 American comedy-drama road film directed by Alexander Payne, written by Bob Nelson, and starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. Drew and Nathan are on the road again... but they forgot their Jack. Nathan and Drew tackle 2013's "Nebraska" for their #OldPerson genre. This 6 time Oscar nominated film is a treat and we thank Nathan for it. Bruce Dern gives a wonderful performance in this drama that tackles the themes of loss, forgiveness, and learning what is important. So make sure you have your contest "winning" mailer, a bickering family and a son who will put up with you. RoboCop is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by Paul Verhoeven, with a screenplay by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Daniel O'Herlihy, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, and Miguel Ferrer. The guys really had a lot of fun going over 1987's Robocop. This was a great selection by Jack and it was a blast. In this feature film based on the hit animated series, the third graders of South Park sneak into an R-rated film by ultra-vulgar Canadian television personalities Terrance (Matt Stone) and Phillip (Trey Parker), and emerge with expanded vocabularies that leave their parents and teachers scandalized. When outraged Americans try to censor the film, the controversy becomes a call to war with Canada, and Terrance and Phillip end up on death row -- with only the kids left to save them. The boys have a great old time looking back on their experiences with South Park through the years and the impact it's had on them as well as society. The movie is still a hoot and gives great laughs all around. It's a no brainer for this pick to be the movie for the "Cut Out Animation" genre. So let's go blame Canada and save our children of South Park! We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.
