whether u planned it or not.. on episode of CD Burners the guys are joined by The Academy Is... vocalist William Beckett to dive into Death Cab for Cutie's 6th album, Plans. The guys unpack why this record still feels like a seasonal memory you can step back into, from the quiet heartbreak and restraint baked into every track to the way it shaped an entire generation of lyric-first songwriting. William also gets into his own early influences, covering these songs live, and what it means to grow up on music that makes sadness feel strangely comforting. Hosted on Acast. IRC Sections 1202 and 1045 are becoming more popular in recent years due to the tax favorability and private investing being more attractive overall. They discuss: What are the criteria to qualify? How do you receive IRC Section 1202 treatment? What happens if you don't hold the QSBS for 5 years? How does IRC Section 1045 come into play? What should employees with 1202 stock options do? How does this apply to estate planning? For more resources related to this episode: Find Bob's decisions charts in our Proactive Planning Toolkit. On today's edition, we're highlighting a record from the year 2008. The record I've chosen today is the third official full length from Chicago's very own The Academy Is... The album is called Fast Times at Barrington High. I love this record. I think it's one of the most expertly crafted pop rock albums. Sonically, it still holds up and the recording and production is quite good. I love every song. It's a very bright Summery record. The songs have big anthemic choruses. The lyrics and melodies get stuck in your head. There's nothing too complex. Fast Times at Barrington High is the third and final studio album by American rock band The Academy Is..., released in August 2008. It was named the 46th best album of 2008 by Rolling Stone. It was produced by S*A*M and Sluggo. The title refers to the high school to which William Beckett and Adam Siska went,[3] and a play on the title of the 1982 film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The album cover photo was taken by William Beckett's sister, Courtney Beckett, and shows William sitting on a couch with Naomi, a friend of the band.[citation needed] Pete Wentz posted a blog entry saying that he heard the demos for the new album and called them, "Mind blowing. Miles away from where they were."[4] Collaborations include Andrew McMahon from Jack's Mannequin; Gabe Saporta, Ryland Blackinton and Alex Suarez from Cobra Starship; and Mason Musso and Blake Healy from Metro Station. I feel like this was the record that should have put The Academy Is into the realm of pop stardom. It may have just been a year or two too late. I'm not really sure why radio didn't grab ahold of any of the singles from the record.

Welcome to Episode 007, featuring the ever-so-talented William Beckett. You might know Mr. Beckett from his time spent fronting Chicago-based band The Academy Is... from 2003 to 2011, but these days, he's a hard-touring solo artist. His debut full-length album, Genuine & Counterfeit, was released last year on Equal Vision Records. I caught up with William on a rainy Saturday evening in Vienna, Virginia to talk about his involvement with Downwrite (a service that connects fans and artists to create one-of-a-kind songs), re-living high school memories via music, and why skipping school actually helped him in the long run. Stick around until the end of the show to find out how you can win a William Beckett prize package, including a signed CD! If you like what you hear, be sure to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes so you don’t miss a single episode of the stories behind your favorite songs. Thanks for listening!
