Art of Suffering Show Notes: Episode 20For 2,000 years the Catholic Church has laid a foundation for its members to find the narrow path that leads to heaven while also pointing out the pitfalls of our fallen nature that can lead to the wide path of perdition. Like, Jesus, it is both human and divine, and its fallible members both lay and clergy are not exempt from the pitfalls of imperfection. Human persons in the Church are not free from committing personal sins that impact not only themselves but those whom they encounter and serve. For the first time, Sarah Mary Toce reveals how the hurts she experienced from the human side of the Church could only be remedied, redeemed, and transformed by the sanctifying grace that flows from Her divine side.Subscribe/RateNever miss out on the inspiration and healing of each episode by hitting the subscribe button RIGHT NOW! Art of Suffering Show Notes: Episode 18The Catholic Church is bleeding out young people by the droves. Most millennials have not only abandoned the faith intellectually by age 13 but often bring that internal decision to reality by walking out within seven years of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in their early 20's. For the first time, Lauren Hadden shares her journey to Christ that was found in embracing her cross and finding freedom from the slavery of sins that had previously governed her life when she was the one sitting on the throne of her heart rather than Christ. As Matthew Kelly states in his book, I heard God Laugh – “The secret to supreme happiness is to strip away everything in your heart and set aside everything in your life that makes you less available to God, and then surrender yourself to His loving plan and cares.”Subscribe/RateNever miss out on the inspiration and healing of each episode by hitting the subscribe button RIGHT NOW! Art of Suffering Show Notes: Episode 14 Sometimes when we don’t know who we are, we can’t ever come to terms with who God is. Living a false narrative of what the world perceives us to be is much easier than the transformation that leads to becoming who Christ created us to be. As a young husband and father, I got so caught up being the main character in the story I was writing that I failed to realize I was just the supporting cast in the one God was. It became clear in the midst of my “yes” to the cross that what I did in this life didn’t define who I was now or will be in the next. This is the journey of how a young husband and father grew to understand that redemptive suffering in and through Jesus Christ is the only path one can take to achieve personal holiness. That’s what makes Anber Sims, who faced multiple crosses before, during, and after her choice to enter the Catholic Church and her personal story that much more powerful. It’s no wonder that the beauty of redemptive suffering spoke so deep in her heart that it spurred a decision to leave behind the faith tradition of her youth in a relentless pursuit of the fullness of truth. However, special needs children possess an unparalleled ability to do this that far exceeds the natural plain of common human encounter. The unsolicited responses and jaw-dropping affirmations from random individuals across the country who encountered our family’s journey gave tangible evidence to the bold claims I had made regarding the limitless power the right story could have on all of society. Welcome to the first episode of the Art of Suffering! This is a formal invitation to take 30 minutes of your day and be inspired, challenged, receive, and share real-life stories of those who chose not to settle for who the world said they should be, but rather who are walking the path that leads them to become who God created them to be, a saint. A path only available to those who embrace the cross in their life.  Jesus Christ perfected the art of suffering at Calvary. When we respond to His invitation to participate in that suffering by uniting our cross to His, God takes our mess and transforms it into His message.
