SCRIPTURE: Philippians 4:14-18SHOW NOTES: For encouragement on your spiritual journey, we invite you to visit our ministry website, Discover God's Truth, where we provide additional resources to support your Walk with God. Paul's heart rejoices, and he expresses his gratitude. Epaphroditus and others delivered the gift from the Philippians to Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome. They recognized his suffering—awaiting trial before Nero—and wished to demonstrate their care and concern for him. "Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles." Philippians 4:14As their spiritual leader, Paul aims to assist them in developing the “grace of giving.” He uses a business term here—this gift is credited to your account. When they gave a gift to Paul, they gave it to the Lord and His work. "They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God." Philippians 4:18bIn the Old Testament, various types of sacrifices—incense, grain offerings, and animal sacrifices—were presented to God that pleased and were acceptable to Him. Sacrifices were also given in the New Testament, with the greatest being Christ's offering of Himself for the sins of all mankind. "Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Friends, when something tragic happens and people offer their prayers, you'll often hear now, “I've had it with thoughts and prayers. We have to act.” In some extreme cases, people of prayer are mocked, as though prayer is just something completely ineffectual that we should leave behind in favor of action. We're the first generation in recorded human history ever to feel this way. Human beings, across cultures, have always believed in the power and efficacy of prayer. Our first reading this week from Exodus 17 beautifully displays this power—and the fact that prayer, far from undermining action, sustains and supports it.
Every faithful prayer is heard the moment it is prayed, but God chooses to answer in his own way and in his own time.Subscribe to daily devotions e-mails: https://wcm.link/ddsub

Prayer can change your life, but only if you show up. In this message from Luke 11:1, Pastor Ben Young reminds us that prayer is not a task, but a relationship. Discover how the simple request “Lord, teach me to pray” can lead to deep spiritual growth, healing, and transformation. Whether you're carrying grief, doubt, or distraction, God is inviting you to bring your whole self and experience His power through prayer.
“We were walking across a field in heaven, when a little boy walked up to me, said, ‘Hi, my name is Daniel. I think that you're my dad.' He told me that he had been here for a long, long time. I've grown up here with a bunch of others, since we were little babies. Indeed, many years before, my wife had a miscarriage of a baby that we were going to call Daniel.” ---------- In 2021, COVID nearly took Steve Boyls' life. His odds of survival were slim—15 to 20 percent—and he slipped into a coma for 21 days, on a ventilator for 45. His wife, Kathy, a doctor, knew exactly how bad it was, but because of hospital restrictions, she couldn't visit, even to hold his hand, for 20 days. While Kathy was fighting on earth, Steve was being carried by his angel into heaven's throne room. He stood before Jesus and the Father. He saw war horses being trained for the end times, shared heavenly food, reunited with loved ones—including a son, Daniel, lost through miscarriage—and was taught truths he had never even wanted to read about. Summary: We reflected on the biblical roles of men and women as initiators and responders in prayer, exploring how prayer cultivates dependence, humility, and strength in spiritual warfare. Through Genesis, Acts, and other scriptures, we saw how Adam's calling as an initiator and Eve's design as a responder reveal God's perfect order and purpose. The discussion deepened around patience, waiting on God's timing, and how prayer glorifies Him by shaping our hearts. Personal experiences were shared, illustrating how prayer invites God's presence into pain, trials, and transformation, reminding us that true strength is found in submission to His will.Themes:Men are initiators; women are responders — both reflecting God's divine design (Genesis 2–3; Acts 6)Prayer teaches dependence, humility, and spiritual strength (Daniel 10; Luke 18:1)Waiting on God flows from His nature—merciful, patient, and loving (Exodus 34:6; Isaiah 40:31)Love motivates; fear paralyzes. Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18; 2 Timothy 1:7)Prayer connects believers to divine energy and aligns them with God's timingPatience is not passive—it's labor and trust under God's grace (1 Corinthians 13:4; Genesis 18:14)True spiritual growth requires consistent, humble prayer (Luke 18:1; James 1:5)Prayer is the believer's weapon in spiritual warfare and the key to peace (Ephesians 6:18)God's presence transforms suffering into intimacy and purpose (Matthew 11:28–30)Scripture References: Genesis 2–3; Daniel 10; Exodus 34:6; Isaiah 40:31; 1 Corinthians 13:4; Genesis 18:14; Luke 18:1; 1 John 4:18; 2 Timothy 1:7; James 1:5; Matthew 11:28–30; Acts 6; Ephesians 6:18Reflection Question: Where in my life is God inviting me to depend on Him more deeply through prayer instead of relying on my own strength?

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 1:15-23 SHOW NOTES: For encouragement on your spiritual journey, we invite you to visit our ministry website, Discover God's Truth, where you can access additional resources to enrich your Walk with God. Paul boldly shared the Gospel of Jesus and traveled extensively during his ministry. He now writes to the believers in Ephesus from a prison in Rome. He assures the Ephesians that he always remembers them in his prayers—both with gratitude and intercession."For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers." Ephesians 1:15-16 Paul received news that their faith and love continued to grow. He tells them he prays that God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, will give them spiritual wisdom and insight.Paul wants them to understand the incredible power of God. Divine power was clearly shown in Jesus Christ's resurrection and His exaltation to the position of authority—He sits at the right hand of His Heavenly Father. Because of Christ, the Church is made whole and complete."I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe in Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms." SCRIPTURE: Acts 4:1-31 SHOW NOTES: For encouragement on your spiritual journey, we invite you to visit our ministry website, Discover God's Truth, where you can access additional resources to enrich your Walk with God. In Acts 3 and 4, Luke describes Peter's bold testimony for Jesus after he heals a crippled man at the Beautiful Gate. That afternoon at the temple, thousands of people heard the message and believed in the name of Jesus. Peter and John were arrested and kept in prison overnight before being brought before the Sanhedrin early the next morning. "They were teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand." Acts 4:2-4 As Peter addressed the religious leaders, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke truth. Peter experiences a special moment of inspiration that clearly highlights the person of Jesus Christ and the work of God's Spirit. The Sanhedrin warned Peter and John “not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.” But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20The church's response to the apostles' release was an immediate outpouring of praise and prayer. Most importantly, these early Christians were not praying for relief from oppression but for the ability "to speak Your word with great boldness" amid persecution and for God to act with mighty power. The focus of these new believers was on spreading God's word and glorifying Christ's name. Luke clearly made sure to include this prayer so that it can serve as a pattern for us to follow in our own prayers. "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, all because of my name. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand about how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict." “In my battle with alcohol, I felt like there was something with barbed hooks attached to my chest. I cried out to God, "please don't let me die." ---------- Josh just wanted to make music. As a kid, the dream was to be in a band. But then life collapsed — his parents split, alcohol took over, and older women pulled him further off course. Along with the drinking came something darker — a clutching at his chest that felt like barbed hooks haunted him for decades. He believed if it ever let go, he would die. Then came the shock I can relate to, blindness in his mid-20s. Like me, Josh has retinitis pigmentosa. It drove him back to the bottle. But, this is touched by Heaven, which means the story doesn't end there. Two years ago, a tiny prayer snowballed into the miracle that made Josh — in his words — the happiest blind man you'll ever meet. We also talk about what it means to be on the same page with your partner, why praying out loud has been so powerful, and how making church an anchor to the week can shape daily life. From funny memories as altar servers to deeper conversations about ghosts, spirits, and gut feelings—this one goes beyond fitness and into the beliefs that keep us grounded.Timestamps:0:00 How the podcast opened us up to faith (sharing our backgrounds)3:00 Why is faith so uncomfortable to talk about?6:25 Being on the same page as your partner7:50 Praying out loud has been very powerful9:47 What makes you NOT share?10:40 Growing up Catholic (MDV was a pro altar server)12:00 The difference between faith and organized religion14:48 How organized church can jade your view15:38 Prayer and the Bible make for a better day18:03 Going to church every Sunday and making connections there24:36 Having an anchor to your week28:11 Pulling people into religion—tough questions33:20 Nobody is trying to push us—we're just sharing38:39 Do you believe in ghosts or spirits?41:02 Gabe's crazy story (and why conversations like this keep us curious)50:28 Core tenets of faith52:51 Jason's morning routine is about to get a lot earlier57:13 The Astros pitcher drama and reading lips in little leagueThanks for tuning in to the Jason Khalipa Podcast!
“The baby was delivered via C-section. but my wife was hemorrhaging, 2 Liters of blood, and the doctors didn't know from where. Her blood pressure was down to 52/38, and she was losing consciousness.” ---------- I asked Johnny, " How did you pray differently?" This week on Touched by Heaven, we meet musician, Johnny Hall, whose life took a dramatic turn in the delivery room. Known for leading praise and worship at healing services and events like Encounter School of Ministry, Johnny had learned about bold, Spirit-filled prayer. Those lessons became more than theory when his wife Danielle's life was suddenly in jeopardy during the birth of their daughter, Sadie. With doctors confused and scrambling, Johnny did the only thing he knew to do—call on the Holy Spirit and a prayer of command. What unfolded next left everyone stunned and confirmed for Johnny the power of God moving in real time. This is a story of faith, a type of prayer that you need to know, and a God who listens. Does prayer really make a difference in times of crisis? Those who criticize prayer could not be more mistaken. Even through the heartbreak of life, prayer is important and holds power—Jesus Himself prayed as He was crucified! In today's podcast, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to Acts 12, a time the church faced a real threat from Herod and responded with prayer. See how we can follow their lead, whether facing a personal or national crisis. -- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org.
