The Carrying Wayward podcast is a must-listen for any Supernatural fan. As someone who felt cynical about the show after the season finale, this podcast brought back my excitement and love for the story. The hosts, Mary and Drew, offer fresh energy and insight into the characters and plots. I appreciate that each episode is split into two halves - one for enjoying the show at face value and another for critical analysis. This allows fans to have fun discussing Supernatural while also having serious conversations about its flaws and creation. Fridays are always something to look forward to because of this show.
One of the best aspects of The Carrying Wayward podcast is the unique perspective it offers on Supernatural. Even if I don't always agree with the hosts' opinions, I love hearing a different take on the show and its characters. It's especially interesting because I don't have anyone around me to talk or analyze these characters with, so listening to other people's opinions is refreshing. Marie and Drew bring up thought-provoking insights that make you question your own perspective on the characters' actions and motivations. Whether you agree with their conclusions or not, it's a great listen for in-depth analysis.
While there aren't many negative aspects to The Carrying Wayward, one potential downside is that some listeners might not appreciate if they heavily disagree with the hosts' perspectives. However, I believe that open-mindedness can allow for interesting discussions even when opinions differ. Another aspect that could be improved upon is occasionally delving deeper into specific topics rather than briefly mentioning them during episodes. However, given that this podcast covers every episode of Supernatural, time constraints are understandable.
In conclusion, The Carrying Wayward podcast is an amazing listen for any Supernatural fan. It goes beyond surface-level enjoyment by diving deep into character motivations, themes like bisexuality and misogyny, and problematic aspects of the show itself. The hosts, Mary and Drew, have a great dynamic - one being a long-time viewer and the other watching for the first time. Their analysis has given me a new appreciation for the series and allowed me to enjoy each episode on a whole new level. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to explore Supernatural in a more nuanced and insightful way.
