There’s no easy formula here, sorry! It depends what’s going on with your own life, and also your family and friends. It’s easy to “move on” from kids games when you have other kids in your life, younger than your own kids. Harder if your own kids are really nostalgic. You may regret moving on from some games! That’s normal and okay. Board games are a consumer product, and you can probably replace it if you look hard enough (eBay is amazing). Your family situation will change over time: whether that’s “aging out” of a game, or a change in interests & priorities. We grieve a little bit over losing who our children *used to be* while still enjoying the people they are *right now*. Nostalgia ALONE is not a reason to keep a game! You may be able to find it in another place, or just keep your fond memories. But if nostalgia regularly drives you back to *wanting* to play the game, maybe it makes sense to keep. Andrew suggests “dimensionally constraining” nostalgic / kids items (a box, shelf, or other limited space) to help you focus your collection. Examine your reasons to want to keep a game, if it’s not being played. Examine your reasons to want to get rid of a game. Determine if a game can be played at multiple age & skill levels (aka with B-mods, or games like Kingdomino) Pare down regularly – we recommend 1-2 times a year, and it will get easier with time! Hey Guys! Welcome to the Purge. This episode is a guided decluttering session focused on Zone One, using a simple Ready → Set → Go structure so you can move through the space with clarity, momentum, and less mental exhaustion. Your Decluttering Year Program: If you would like more information about my year long decluttering program click HERE. Today's Decluttering Focus Zone One: The bedroom floor (bins, piles, boxes, and anything on the floor that isn't furniture) If your Zone One looks different, that's okay. This is just one way to break up the space so the work feels manageable. You'll want 2–3 uninterrupted hours set aside before you begin. The Ready → Set → Go Framework READY: Prepare to Start Before touching anything, make sure you have: Your decluttering supplies (bags, boxes, piles—whatever works for you) Post-its and a marker for labeling categories A task list (paper, journal, or phone notes) The Task List As you declutter, thoughts will surface: Things you need to return Appointments you need to schedule Calls, emails, or follow-ups you've been avoiding You are not meant to remember all of this. Your task list becomes a trusted place to capture those thoughts so you can let go of the object without losing the reminder. If it's on paper, take a photo when you're done—you'll be releasing the physical item that used to hold that information. SET: Regulate Your Nervous System Before you begin, you'll pause to set your energy. Decluttering often activates the stress response because the nervous system reads clutter as a threat. In that state, decision-making becomes harder and everything feels heavier. Slow, intentional breathing helps shift the body out of fight-or-flight and into a calmer, clearer state—before you touch a single item. In this episode, you're guided through a short breathing practice to help you: Settle your body Reduce overwhelm Create clarity before making decisions You haven't changed the room yet—but you've changed how you're meeting it. GO: Declutter the Zone Once regulated, you'll: Set a timer Stay in Zone One only Keep moving until the timer ends How to Move Through the Space Pick up one item at a time Place it into a clearly labeled category Write the destination on the post-it (donation, consignment, e-waste, a person's name, a room, etc.) If something belongs in another room, label it—don't leave the zone This keeps you focused and prevents derailment. You may pause briefly to: Breathe Write something on your task list Reset your focus But you keep going. When the Timer Goes Off Stop. Not because you're done, but because burnout doesn't help progress. End the session with: Clear categories A sense of structure A plan for your next purge day If you have time before the next session, you can take some categories to their destinations—but this is optional. Early voting is already well underway in this year's primary election that concludes on March 3, but even as this process plays out, conservative activists and self-described “election integrity experts” are renewing their longstanding campaign to purge registered voters from the rolls in groups and geographic areas that generally tend to vote for Democratic candidates. The latest effort: a recent offer from a group of conservative activists to provide North Carolina's Republican dominated Board of Elections with new computer software that they claim will identify fraudulent voters. As NC Newsline reporter Lynn Bonner explained in a recent story, however, the software in question remains in a developmental stage and is a of a type and origin that pro-democracy advocates say should raise some serious red flags. We'vebeen talking about the Word of God. Yesterday, we discussed hiding the Word ofGod in our hearts—meditating on it, memorizing it, and placing it deep withinour souls. We let it become our guide, our protection, and our shield. It isalso the sword of the Spirit, which enables us to stand against the enemy. Butnot only that—it can also deal with our own hearts. That is what we want totalk about today. Justas a physical sword can wound to harm and cause pain, the same sword in asurgeon's hand, can be used to heal. The sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, woundsin order to heal and to give life. That is very important, my friend. WhenGod's Word convicts you, it may feel painful—but it is a holy pain. Ithink of Psalm 51. After David committed adultery with Bathsheba anddeceitfully arranged for her husband to be killed in battle, he was broken whenNathan the prophet confronted him about his sin. In his prayer of repentance,David cried out in verse 7, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” We have already talked about howit is the Word of God that cleanses and washes us.Thenin verse 8 he prays, “Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones whichThou hast broken may rejoice.”  Davidhad been a shepherd. If a lamb wandered away, he would bring it back. If itwandered again and again, after repeated discipline, there were times when ashepherd might break the front leg bones of that lamb—not to destroy it, but tosave it. He would then carry it on his shoulders until the bones healed. Davidunderstood this imagery. He knew he had been broken over his sin. His “bones”had been broken. And he prayed, “Make me hear joy and gladness, that thebones which Thou hast broken may rejoice.”Heunderstood that the hurt also brought the healing. And that healing comes onlythrough God's truth and God's Word. Ialso think of Hosea chapter 6—one of my favorite passages in the Old Testament.After the people of God had sinned and were warned by the prophets like Isaiahand Jeremiah that they would go into captivity, Hosea is called to also tobring them a message of hope. He said to them: “Come, and let us return untothe Lord: for He hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He willbind us up. After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise usup, and we shall live in His sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to knowthe Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto usas the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth” (vs. 1-3).  Oh,my friend, how wonderful it is to understand this truth. God might use His Wordto tear us up, but He will also use it to heal us. God might use His Word tosmite us, but He will also use it to bind us up and revive and raise us up to live!The Word of Godis living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword. It may bring paininto our lives as it convicts us of sin, but it also has the power to heal us. Psalm107:20 says, “He sent His Word, and healed them.” And Isaiah 53:5reminds us, “By His stripes we are healed.” The Word of God may firstbring conviction and pain, but then it brings healing. That is such a wonderfultruth for you and me to remember. Beforehealing comes, there must be pain. Before resurrection, there must be thecross. Before glory, there must be suffering. But then, my friend, the Word hasthe power to restore us and revive us. It brings us back into sweet andwonderful fellowship with the Lord. Are you seeking that today? If you are, youhave come to the right place when you come to the Word of God. There is powerin that Word. Trust it today. Get into that Word today. Let it soak deeply intoyour soul and you will find healing for your soul and for your life. Godbless you, and may you have a wonderful, wonderful day.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 5:13. Some threats don't walk through the front door shouting. They slip in quietly, sit in the pew, smile during worship, and destroy slowly. Paul ends this chapter by ripping the mask off one of the greatest dangers to a church's health: unrepentant sin that everyone sees but no one confronts. God judges those outside. "Purge the evil person from among you." — 1 Corinthians 5:13 Paul doesn't whisper this. He doesn't soften the command. He ends the chapter with a call so sharp we can feel the edge of it: remove what is destroying the body of Christ before it destroys you. He's not talking about someone who's struggling or fighting sin. He's talking about the person who refuses correction, rejects repentance, and insists on living in open rebellion while claiming the name of Christ. This kind of sin doesn't stay contained. It spreads. It shapes culture. It numbs conviction. It confuses new believers. And eventually it corrupts the whole church. First | Unrepentant sin isn't just harmful—it's contagious. This command echoes Jesus' words about cutting off a hand or tearing out an eye. Some things must be removed decisively because they can't be managed gently. If we don't cut out what kills us, it will cut out what's holy in us. And Paul draws a hard line that every believer must take seriously... Second | God judges the outside world. The church must judge what's inside. Our job is not to police unbelievers—God handles that. Our job is to protect the church. Not to condemn the world, but to guard the family of God. Not to rage at culture, but to confront the compromise within our own community. This means addressing sin when we see it—not ignoring it, excusing it, or hoping it disappears. When a believer we love is drifting into rebellion, we step in. We speak clearly. We call them back. We risk the awkward conversation. That's what love does. It also means raising concerns when leaders overlook sin. Paul's command applies to pastors, elders, small group leaders, and every believer in the house. If something poisonous is spreading, silence is not faithfulness. Silence is surrender. And sometimes—this part is hard—the right response is to leave. If your church normalizes what God condemns, if leaders minimize sin or celebrate what Scripture calls destructive, if purity is treated as optional and holiness is mocked as legalism, then the command of Paul lands on your doorstep... Third | Flee. Don't let corruption disciple you. Don't stay where sin is protected. Don't remain where truth is optional. Leaving isn't betrayal. Leaving is protection. Leaving is obedience. Leaving is spiritual survival. Paul ends the chapter with a decision-point: Will we be a church that trims sin—or a church that tolerates it? Purge what pollutes. Remove what corrodes. Cut what kills. Protect what's holy. Guard what Christ died to make clean. The world doesn't shape us. Sin doesn't define us. And compromise doesn't get a seat at the table. Christ leads us. Holiness marks us. Courage protects us. This is how chapter 5 ends—with fire and clarity. And now it's our turn to act. DO THIS: Ask God to reveal one area of compromise—personal or within your church—that needs decisive action. Speak up, confront it, or walk away if needed. Protect what's holy. ASK THIS: What sin have I tolerated that God wants removed? Where do I need to speak up instead of staying silent? Is my church confronting sin—or quietly accepting it? PRAY THIS: Father, give me courage to remove whatever harms my walk with You. Help me protect the purity of Your church and confront sin with boldness, humility, and conviction. Keep me faithful and fearless as I follow Your Word. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Clean Heart"
