What if you could become more organized just by shifting how you see yourself? For the full transcript, notes, links, and more, go to: https://simplysquaredaway.com/129 In this first-ever co-hosted episode, I team up with another brilliant organizing coach to nerd out about mindset, identity, and systems. We realized we share a foundational belief: it all starts with how you think about yourself. Do you believe you're disorganized? That identity could be the very thing keeping you stuck. We get into all of it, from alter egos and decluttering shame to the reason containers aren't the solution (yes, even the cute ones from Target). Plus, we each share our own organizing methods: mine is called SPACE, and hers involves the Four P's and the Amber method. We also talk about why it feels impossible to stay organized, what to do when your brain rejects “I'm extremely organized", and the tiny tweak that makes a HUGE difference in your environment. What you'll learn: How identity and mindset impact your organizing success The SPACE Method: A 5-step system to create and maintain order The Four P's Framework: Prep, Purge, Process, Protect The Amber Method for mindfulness while decluttering Tips for using alter egos to break through mental clutter The power of linking maintenance to routines you already do This is a mix of Amber and me, all wrapped up in one conversation.

Jessica Kriegel expects the labor market to worsen over the next two months. She thinks big companies have “overhired” and are laying off those workers as they wait to see if AI can replace a larger percentage of jobs. She notes that losses in retail, leisure and hospitality reflect a consumer spending pullback. She discusses how tariffs and potential rate cuts could affect the economy, and how the government can use them. “We are now in unknown territory… [we need] that muscle of adaptability.”======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Actor Ger Jordan joined us this week and as the weather starts to get cooler he reminisced with us about collecting and the Halloween celebrations that were more like The Purge growing up in O'Devaney Gardens.Ger opened up about his struggles with gambling and how he turned his life around when he met the mother of his eight children and went after his dream of being an actor even landing a role in Fair City. We couldn't let the opportunity go by without getting Ger to do a few prank calls, and we'll be honest when we heard tears on the other line we nearly walked out of the studio... It's episode 301, and thank you for accepting my invitation. Now tell me, why haven't you delivered the filthy swine to me yet? The Purge (2013) tells the story of The Sandin Family, who shelter in their home-fortress on the evening of 'The Purge'. Following some kind of revolution in the USA, there is now an annual 'purge', where laws are suspended and violence is legal (and even encouraged). All seems fine, until their home-security (and morals) are put to the test. We talk about the best career for someone in a Purge-type situation (painting and decorating?); the limitations of security that is deterrent-only; and the all-round benefits of an impromptu camping trip. Whatever happens, one thing's for sure: Incoming reports show this year's Purge has been the most successful to date, with the most murders committed. Next time, we attempt to Bring Her Back (2025)

The Energy Department is being sued over its plan to purge old Freedom of Information Act requests. The nonprofit group American Oversight filed the suit in U.S. District Court last week. It challenges DOE's effort to require individuals to re-confirm their interest in FOIA requests. In an August notice in the Federal Register, DOE announced that those with a FOIA request submitted prior to October 1, 2024, must email the agency within 30 days to keep the request open. American Oversight argues the move violates the law and would open the door for other agencies to sidestep their obligations under FOIA. Flags are flying across Britain—but behind the bunting lurks a far-right campaign. Chris and Matt kick off Season 10 with a look at "Operation Raise the Colours," the extremist-led push to turn patriotism into intimidation. From there, they move to Ukraine, where the US has signaled willingness to offer critical support to a potential European-led peacekeeping force, even as Trump hedges on a deal with Moscow. Next, Tulsi Gabbard ignites turmoil at the top of the intelligence community, revoking dozens of clearances—including an undercover CIA officer's—raising fears of politicization and damage to US alliances. Finally, the guys head to New Zealand, where a soldier's espionage case exposes ties to far-right groups and highlights how extremists exploit culture wars from both sides. In this deeply moving and inspiring episode of the Tough Girl Podcast, we're joined by Sophie Pierce, a 32-year-old social worker from Pembrokeshire, West Wales, who made history in March 2025 as the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to row an ocean. Diagnosed at just 3 months old, Sophie has lived with the challenges of a genetic condition that affects her lungs and digestive system and once carried a life expectancy of under 30 years. But Sophie's story is not defined by limitation—it's a bold testament to resilience, courage, and the power of hope. From working in fostering services to hiking the Welsh coast with her dogs, swimming in cold water, and sleeping in her campervan—Sophie has never shied away from living life on her terms. In this episode, she opens up about the life-changing impact of the Kaftrio drug trial, how she overcame mental health struggles, and what it truly meant to embrace life beyond the horizon by rowing across the Atlantic. She shares the highs and lows of the row: the months of preparation, team dynamics, magical moments at sea, and how it feels to return to "normal life" after an extraordinary adventure. Sophie's message is powerful and universal—you are capable of so much more than you think. If you're looking for inspiration, perspective, and an honest exploration of living—and thriving—with a life-limiting condition, this episode is not to be missed. Story of the Week (DR):The Cracker Barrel BSCracker Barrel scraps new logo design, keeps 'Old Timer' after listening to customersRestaurant chain's stock price sank following removal of 'Uncle Herschel' from brandingUncle Herschel wasn't just a marketing creation, he was a real person. Born Herschel McCartney, he was the younger brother of Cracker Barrel founder Dan Evins' mother and served as an early goodwill ambassador for the brand. A salesman for Martha White Flour Company for over three decades, Herschel traveled through rural America, building relationships in small-town general stores — the very kinds of places that inspired Cracker Barrel's original design and ethos. When Cracker Barrel introduced its iconic logo in 1969, the old-timer sitting beside the barrel was long thought by fans to be based on Herschel himself, though the company later clarified that this wasn't the case.In 2004, the Justice Department (during the George W. Bush administration) sued the chain for discriminating against Black customers. In 2006, they settled a lawsuit involving three of their Illinois restaurants for “discriminatory practices, racially charged language, and inappropriate touching.”Cracker Barrel's inconvenient fact: all the customers who loved its old logo had stopped going to the restaurantFounder Dan EvinsHis tone was considerably harsher when it came to defending a January 1991 directive to all the company's restaurants to fire employees “whose sexual preferences fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values.” Mr. Evins's explanation for the edict was that gay people made customers in rural areas uncomfortable. As many as 16 openly or suspected gay employees were promptly fired.“They actually put a policy like this in writing, which was, and still is, shocking,” David Smith, a spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign. The New York City Employees Retirement System, which owned more than $6 million of Cracker Barrel shares, led other stock owners in using their votes and other legal means to organize resistance. In March 1991, Mr. Evins apologized and said the policy had been rescinded. But New York and its allies fought until 58 percent of the shareholders in 2002 persuaded Cracker Barrel's board to vote unanimously to explicitly forbid antigay discrimination in its equal employment policy. In July 2001, shareholders replaced Evins as CEO with Michael A. Woodhouse, who at the time was serving as the company's chief operating officer. Evins maintained his position as chairman of the board.Prior to founding the company, Dan worked for Consolidated Oil, a company founded by his grandfather.Cracker Barrel took down Pride page after rebrand fiascoCompany faced criticism over modernist redesign and support for LGBT causes before stock reboundThe website link for Cracker Barrel's Pride page, which used to boast that the company was "bringing the porch to Pride," now redirects to its "Culture and Belonging" page.Cracker Barrel previously sponsored the Nashville Pride Parade in 2024 and unveiled a line of rainbow-colored rocking chairs for Pride month. The company also has an LGBTQ employee resource group called the "LGBTQ+ Alliance," along with groups for veterans and other communities.Despite claims it's 'too woke,' Cracker Barrel actually has a fraught LGBTQ+ historyCracker Barrel received a score of zero on the inaugural index in 2002. The chain was criticized in the 1990s for discrimination against gay employees. Tommy & Ben dig into the FBI's raid on John Bolton and how Pete Hegseth's firing of the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency fits into Trump's ongoing ideological purges of the US intelligence community. They discuss Israel's criminal “double tap” strike on Gaza's Nasser Hospital, The Free Press's sanctimonious reaction to criticism of their reporting about starvation in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu's constant moving of the goalposts on a ceasefire deal, why Trump's meeting South Korean president Lee Jae Myung was humiliating for America, Trump's lies and delusions about being a peacemaker, the latest on Iran negotiations, why Australia expelled Iranian diplomats, and Putin's answer to Eurovision. Then, Tommy speaks with Franklin Nossiter, Sahel Analyst at the International Crisis Group, about the complex dynamics in a region where military juntas, jihadists, and foreign powers are all jostling for influence. For a closed-captioned version of this episode, click here. CutTheClutter: The great Trump purge, 'setback to US intel & security' & a CIA recruitment ad for Chinese traitors
The host frames the pre-dawn FBI raid on John Bolton's home as a major development in the fight against the "deep state." He speculates that the raid is not a random event but a strategic move to "flip" Bolton, who he alleges had possession of a classified memo that proved the "Russia collusion hoax" was a conspiracy. The host connects this to his belief that the CIA's "Project Mockingbird," which allegedly pays journalists to spin government narratives, is still active. The host also expresses grave concern over the escalating conflict in Russia and Ukraine, arguing that the American media is lying about the true nature of the attacks. He claims that U.S.-made missiles with U.S. targeting have struck Russian cities, and that Russian retaliatory strikes are a predictable response. This, he argues, could lead to World War III. The show concludes with praise for Tulsi Gabbard, whom the host claims is leading a "purge" of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). He states that she has slashed staff and eliminated an office that was responsible for censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story, framing it as a major victory against government corruption and a sign that the "purge has begun."
Send us a textThe curtain falls on Season 5 with a high-stakes showdown as TJ and Eric find themselves deadlocked with 10 season points each. To break this unprecedented tie, host Alex devises a brilliant challenge: correctly guess how he would rank all seventeen survival movies they've covered this season. What unfolds is a masterclass in friendship dynamics as the co-hosts attempt to channel Alex's perspective on films ranging from zombie apocalypses to alien invasions. The ranking system cleverly considers Alex's subjective opinion, survival realism, entertainment value, and storytelling quality, creating a multi-dimensional analysis of each movie. The revelations come fast and furious as Alex's true rankings shatter expectations. War of the Worlds earns surprising praise, The Purge trilogy rankings completely invert what the hosts remembered, and the heated debate over which film deserves the coveted "iconic" slot (Cast Away or Signs?) showcases just how personally we connect with survival stories. What makes this finale special isn't just the competitive element, but the fascinating psychological dance as TJ and Eric frequently identify Alex's correct opinion before talking themselves out of it. Their analysis reveals deeper truths about how we evaluate survival scenarios in fiction – do we prioritize practical skills displayed, scenario realism, or pure entertainment value? After passionate debates, plot breakdowns, and numerous butter-up attempts toward their bald-headed host, the competition culminates in a shocking announcement – both hosts tie in their predictions, leading to the first-ever joint season championship in the podcast's history.Whether you're a survival film enthusiast or simply enjoy listening to friends who know each other almost too well, this season finale perfectly encapsulates what makes Will You Survive special: equal parts survival analysis, film criticism, and genuine friendship. What survival movie would you rank as iconic? Let us know at theboys@willyousurvivethepodcast.com!

Today's Headlines: President Trump was caught on a hot mic telling French President Emmanuel Macron that Vladimir Putin “wants to make a deal,” though the Kremlin brushed it off Reports say Putin even suggested Zelensky travel to Moscow — a nonstarter, given Russia's stance on Ukraine. Trump also ruled out sending U.S. troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees. Meanwhile, the Trump administration revoked security clearances for 37 current and former national security officials, many tied to the 2016 Russia interference assessment. Trump also escalated his attacks on “woke” institutions, directing his lawyers to target the Smithsonian museums over their exhibits. In California, Republican lawmakers are suing to block Governor Gavin Newsom's redistricting legislation, while in Texas, State Rep. Nicole Collier is literally sleeping in the capitol to avoid signing a GOP loyalty paper that would otherwise allow her to leave without threat of arrest. Elsewhere, Oklahoma schools chief Ryan Walters announced that out-of-state teacher applicants must pass an “anti-radical” test written by PragerU and immigration authorities rolled out a new policy weighing immigrants' “positive attributes” in citizenship applications — just as ICE moved to deport a Maine police officer accused of overstaying his visa. Finally, Minnesota joined states suing TikTok over addictive algorithms, and the FDA warned consumers to toss certain Walmart frozen shrimp after reports of possible radioactive contamination linked to an Indonesian supplier. Today's Headlines: Trump's rolling out the red carpet for Putin on Friday — the first U.S. invite outside the UN since 2007 — with no Ukraine concessions, just Putin demanding eastern Ukraine in exchange for “ending” the war (and no guarantee he wouldn't restart it).
