Oh my god...OH MY GOD, DID YOU HEAR THAT??? WHAT IS THAT?! SSSHHHHH, listen....IT'S THE CINEBYTES 50TH EPISODE, THAT'S WHAT IT IS! *Party horns blast*...ok, but seriously, be quiet, there's actually something out there...Join us for a very special episode as we hit a huge milestone and celebrate hitting the big 5-0 by reviewing The Blair Witch Project (1999) by request! In this episode, we talk about the found footage film that kicked off the craze, as well as being one of the earliest and most successful attempts at viral marketing...and a film that some STILL call "one of the scariest movies of all time" to this day!Did Heather ever actually know how to read the map? Is Mary Brown telling the truth about what she saw in the woods that day, or is she just a crazy old biddy? What in the holy hell is going on with Mike's chest hair? We'll answer all these questions and more as we tackle this American masterpiece that's still every bit as influential today as it was 26 years ago! And we'd like to apologize to everybody's moms in advance...Send us a textSupport the showPodcast art by Jayson Cessna: https://jaysoncessna.crevado.comMusic by Dusty Lane, created in LMMS.Movie clips provided by https://movie-sounds.org/horror-movie-samples/Audio Engineer: Michael Jones: https://www.facebook.com/bikerackrecords

In this episode, I am joined by medieval scholar and author, Jason Baxter. Dr. Baxter is the Director of the Center for Beauty and Culture at Benedictine College and the author of many books, including a new translation of Dante and The Medieval Mind of C. S. Lewis. Dr. Baxter and I discussed The Medieval Mind, C. S. Lewis as medievalist, and why he had a medieval mind. We also talk about how Lewis' thoughts could be applied to modern science. If the back-to-school season has you feeling like you're drowning, this episode is for you.If September is hitting you like a freight train of grief, you're not imagining alone. Even if your baby's condition was fatal, even if you live somewhere without fall school starts - this season carries a weight that others can't see. The anger, the longing, the guilt over feeling joy while grieving the school years that will never come for THIS BABY…all of those feelings are valid, and all of it makes perfect sense. There's a reason why back-to-school grief cuts so deep for TFMR families, and it has everything to do with a truth about love that death can't touch. When you understand what's really happening in your heart during these triggered moments, the pain doesn't disappear, but finally, FINALLY, it makes sense. Listen in to hear WHY back to school time IS as hard as it feels after termination baby loss.TFMR GRIEF CIRCLE PROGRAM:If you're longing for intimate, ongoing group support, apply now for the Ascend TFMR Grief Circle

The Story of God returning to His creation. Even Jesus Christ. And His great working with mankind through the ages to prepare us for that return where we can be brought back to His presence, changed by the blood of Himself, even Jesus, to stand before His holiness clean and prepared for eternity with Him. Nothing in the flesh will ever satisfy the great need we have as created beings to return and be in the presence of our Father, Creator, and Savior. In this episode we trace an unexpected thread between two very different 90s films. Both movies lean on Bruce Springsteen's Secret Garden, one as a sincere, emotional centerpiece and the other as a full-on parody. We explore how a single song can carry so much weight in one story and then get flipped into pure absurdity in another. Along the way we dig into the cultural context, the behind-the-scenes choices, and what these movies reveal about the strange range of 90s pop culture.Give us a follow on Instagram and TikTok: @high.expectations.pod on both platformsReach out with comments or suggestions at podcast.highexpectations@gmail.comMusic courtesy of Vince Sasso of the Vince Sasso Trio(check them out on Instagram! @vincesassotrio)

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I pulled two seemingly contradictory cards (the Knight of Wands and the Seven of Pentacles) and found myself reflecting on the very human tension between urgency and patience. At first glance, these archetypes appear at odds: one races forward, fiery and eager; the other waits, steadies, and tends. But beneath the surface, they share a common root: passion. In this episode, I explore how both cards express passion differently - one through movement, the other through stillness. I unpack how this polarity often shows up in relationships (think of the couple where one is impulsive and driven, while the other is methodical and calm) and how both partners are often acting from the same place: care, longing, and a desire for connection. The challenge is in learning how to integrate their styles rather than battle over whose rhythm is “right.”We then zoom out into the lens of neurobiology by pairing the Knight of Wands with dopamine and the Seven of Pentacles with serotonin. Drawing on recent research from Stanford and Columbia, I discuss how these neurotransmitters operate in opposition yet depend on each other: dopamine initiates action and drives momentum, while serotonin regulates patience and long-term reward. Just like tarot, our brains need both. Without dopamine, we never start. Without serotonin, we can't sustain.By working with the Knight and the Seven together, we can begin to honor the full spectrum of passion: the spark that ignites, and the soil that nourishes.Deck used: Tarot VintageStudies cited:https://www.columbiapsychiatry.org/news/lack-serotonin-receptor-plays-role-aggressive-and-impulsive-behaviorshttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39586475/Pre-order my forthcoming book Dark Shadow, Golden Shadow here and get an exclusive sneak peek!
